Show memory for your co-host

What your AI co-host remembers between sessions, and how to curate it.

3 min read

Show memory is what your AI co-host reads before every recording session: past guest quotes, running storylines, and facts it has picked up from earlier episodes and interviews. It only appears for shows with the co-host feature turned on, as Memory under Monitor in the show sidebar. On other shows there is no Memory link and the page does not exist.

What Mato remembers

Briefing. A short auto-written summary the co-host reads before every session. You can edit it yourself if you want to steer what it focuses on next time.

Recurring themes. Storylines that keep coming up, each with a one-line detail and a strength bar showing how much support versus contradiction Mato has found for it. A theme flagged "Evolving position" means Mato has spotted a guest or host contradicting an earlier stance.

Threads and running bets. Open threads are follow-ups Mato still owes an answer to. Running bets carry a date they are expected to resolve. Callbacks are moments worth bringing up again in a future session.

Quotes and claims. Short, AI-distilled signals pulled from past sessions, never a raw transcript excerpt. Quotes are attributed to the host, a guest, or a co-host session. Claims carry a supported or unverified flag depending on whether Mato has found something backing them up.

Entities. A running list of people, companies, and other named things that have come up, with a count of how often each is mentioned.

Sources. The episodes and sessions that fed into memory, with a count of how many items each one produced.

Every item also carries a confidence label: Strong, Tentative, Contradicted, Stale, Unsupported, Canonical, or Distilled for verbatim quotes.

Use the filter bar to narrow the view to Themes, Threads & bets, Quotes, Claims, or Unsupported items, or search by free text across themes, quotes, claims, and sources.

Curate what the co-host uses

You do not add memory items by hand. Mato generates all of them from your episodes and co-host sessions, and your job is to keep the useful ones in view and hide the rest.

  • Suppress or restore any theme, thread, quote, or claim to hide it from the co-host, or bring it back later.
  • Pin a quote or claim so it gets priority in the next session.
  • Verify an unsupported claim once you have confirmed it is accurate.
  • Merge two themes that turned out to be duplicates.
  • Archive a theme that has gone stale.

These actions live in the Needs-review rail on the right and inline on each item.

Export memory

Download everything as a JSON file for your own records. The export leaves out anything you have suppressed or archived.

Adjust how often the co-host uses memory

The similarity bar the co-host requires before it brings up a past moment lives in Advanced settings, under Memory sensitivity. Move it toward "Keeps more" for a co-host that references the past more often, or toward "Keeps only what it's sure of" for fewer, higher-confidence callbacks.
