In Portsea Victoria on December 17 1967, what was supposed to be a run of the mill summertime swim with family friends became an international news story that is still surrounded by massive question marks 59 years later. Then Prime Minister of Australia Harold Holt was a boisterous and charismatic leader of the country, known and loved for his Aussie pride and also for his active lifestyle. When it came to swimming in the ocean, many have described him as a man of the sea - so why is it that he disappeared on a routine swim, in a spot he was familiar with? If the ocean was rough, why did he go out? And why were there so few eye witnesses, who's reports were so quickly confirmed and believed? And most importantly - what really happened to Harold Holt? (and why is there a swimming pool named after him...suss) Follow us on socials for more! in 1998, what Bill Morgan thought was a run of the mill day at work as a Melbourne truck driver would be the beginning of a series of events that could be considered both fortunate and unfortunate - depending on how you look at them. Bill's journey from an average every day Aussie to being known as the luckiest man in Australia is one you quite literally wouldn't read about! Follow us on socials for more! The Cuzzie's are in the house!!! Our first guest ep features Trangie's two most eligible bachelors, Matt and Oli Ferrari (@thecuzzies11 on Instagra ladies). After we get to know the boys, we delve into one of Australia's greatest unknown billionaires - Zeljko Ranogajec. Zeljko Ranogajec wasn't a typical 19 year old - while most uni starters were interested in probabilities of finding the cheapest pub to drink at and the most exciting stories to tell the next morning, Zeljko was running probabilities in his head of how to beat the system that was providing cheap thrills - the casino and eventually, the entire concept of gambling. This is an incredible and equally mysterious story of how a 19 year old with $200 in his pocket created one of the world's largest gambling syndicates, a $1billion+ net worth and an answer to the question - can you beat the system? ***For those here purely for the Pilliga Princess story - skip to 5:50. For our regulars, enjoy :) In the late 80s and 90s, Clare Wibson, along with a shopping trolley full of her belongings, roamed the 120km stretch of the Newell Highway running between Coonabarabran and Narrabri in Northwestern NSW. Information on Clare's life prior to this period is scarce at best, and the reason for her presence on the road is a mystery. However, after she was tragically struck down by a southbound truck on the 20th March 1993, many truckers and unknowing travellers alike report seeing the same thing - a woman with blinding white hair pushing a shopping trolley down the highway. The Pilliga Scrub in Northwestern NSW has a long history of mysterious encounters and horrifying spiritual experiences, and maybe none more notorious than Clare's, as she is now known...as the Pilliga Princess. On New Years Eve of 2011, 22-year old Perth girl Erin Langworthy was having the adventure trip of her lifetime in Southern Africa. Young, wild and care free, Erin was making the most of her youth and creating a trip to remember. It certainly was - but not for the reasons she'd imagined. Towering 111m above the Zambezi River is the Victoria Falls Bridge, also home to one of the worlds most thrilling and scenic bungee jumps. Unlike most people who participated in the jump, Erin didn't return to the bridge after taking the leap - instead crossing the border from Zimbabwe to Zambia, ending up in hospital with life threatening injuries... This is an incredible story of misfortune and also a lot of quick wit - one of those yarns you wouldn't read about! Follow us on socials for more! We've all seen the video...we've all had or know someone who's done a 'Bradbury' - being a winner only because everyone else fumbled. This wasn't how Steven Bradbury imagined his hard earned and well deserved professional speed skating career would pan out; becoming an iconic Aussie moment for all the wrong reasons after dedicating his whole life up to that point to the sport. In this episode, we delve in to the 27 years of Steven Bradbury's life before the famed moment - the dedication, sacrifice and near death experiences that will ultimately change your perception of the man. His luck didn't just come in the minutes of the 2002 Olympic Speed Skating Final - it was created through years and years (and years) of gruelling passion towards a sport that he put on the Australian map. In the year 1885, a majestic late-Victorian manor was built by pioneer Christopher Crawley in Junee, New South Wales. Perched dramatically on a hillside overlooking the town, the property harbours a dark legacy of family tragedies, including the deaths of Crawley in 1910 and his wife Elizabeth in 1933, followed by years of neglect before its 1963 restoration. We delve deeply into the paranormal activity reported at the site—apparitions, unexplained sounds, and ghostly encounters, leaving us to discuss the question - do you believe in ghosts? You may have been through Mawson, the suburb of Canberra, gazed upon Mount Mawson in TAS or maybe even driven down Douglas Mawson Drive in Dubbo NSW (to name a few). But what you may not know is the incredible yarn of Sir Douglas Mawson and his expedition to Antarctica in 1912-13, and why he has his name honoured in so much Australian culture. Pre WW1, Mawson and a small crew set out on an expedition across the treacherous icy wasteland of Antarctica for a scientific research mission. After a relatively pleasant start the trip quickly took a turn in what would become one of the most hectic stories of mental fortitude and survival you'll ever hear, despite all the luck falling against the odds of making it out of the unexplored land alive. If you think surviving a modern shipwreck would be tough, imagine facing one in 1629...No GPS. No rescue flares. No hope from the sky. This is the chilling yarn of the Batavia , a wealthy Dutch flagship that smashed into a remote reef off Western Australia. But the shipwreck wasn’t the disaster. What happened next on the tiny, sun-baked island was far worse. This is a gripping 400-year-old tale of absolute power, desperate survival, rogue mutiny, and ultimate justice. Strap yourselves in.
