TIMESTAMPS 0:00 Setting The Stage 2:10 Ticket Catastrophe Tangent 4:19 Casting Crash Out 9:39 The Myth of "Accuracy" Music: https://youtu.be/5PRFQ_FnyM8?si=OArQPCkfwPbTn3Yd Director Christopher Nolan has made some of the most spectacular films of the 21st century: "The Dark Knight," "Inception," "Interstellar," "Dunkirk" and "Oppenheimer." With each new film, the scale and ambition of Nolan's storytelling seem to reach new heights. In 2008's "The Dark Knight," the filmmaker collapsed an entire building before the Joker, played by the late Heath Ledger, sped off in a school bus. In his last film, 2023's "Oppenheimer," which won seven Academy Awards, Nolan tackled a subject of immense proportions: the nuclear bomb and the man who made it, J. Robert Oppenheimer. It's only fitting that his latest film, coming to theaters July 17, takes on a nearly-3,000-year-old Greek epic, the bard Homer's "The Odyssey." Actor Matt Damon plays Odysseus in "The Odyssey." It is his third film working with the director, having played roles in "Interstellar" and "Oppenheimer" previously. "I think what separates him from other directors is… the stories he wants to tell are incredibly ambitious. And the way he wants to tell them is incredibly ambitious," the actor told correspondent Scott Pelley in an interview. "In this case, he wanted to do it 100% in IMAX, which had never been done. And that wasn't even announced, because we didn't know if we could do it." Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Because the A-listers who attended from the world of movies, TV, music, sports, fashion and the arts were dying to tell us about it — or at least strongly imply it. The union of Swift and Kelce, two of the biggest celebrities in the world, managed to completely dominate the internet despite the fact that guests reportedly had to check their phones at the door and sign NDAs. Perhaps the biggest trend of the weekend was a superstar guest posting themselves on Instagram or TikTok in an ultra-glam, black-tie fit paired with an enigmatic caption. If you know, you know. The biggest risk would have been doing Iron Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.” As such, the revived DC Studios under Guardians of the Galaxy franchise filmmaker James Gunn and Conjuring franchise producer Peter Safran has plans to do exactly that: Not to gavage moviegoers on a diet of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, but rather build secondary DC characters into diamond properties. A 2024 Anthony Fantano video, improbably enough, is back in the conversation this week. By now, your endless scroll has alerted you to the resurfacing of the music critic and The Needle Drop personality's review of Halsey's most recent studio album as of this writing, 2024's The Great Impersonator. While Fantano handed the album "a light to decent 1," it was otherwise met with largely favorable reviews. Seemingly, though for reasons that aren't entirely clear, the review in question has received renewed attention amid coverage of Fantano's recent interview with Olivia Rodrigo, whose excellent new album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is currently atop the Billboard 200 chart. On Tuesday (June 23), X posts began circulating alleging the 59-year-old fan was “jumped” while awaiting the departure of Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie from his hotel during Paris Fashion Week. The controversial figure was criticized for her seemingly parasocial and obsessive relationship with the young actor, frequently seeing his movies multiple times in theaters, attending premieres and sightings, and maintaining popular social media accounts dedicated to Chalamet, which occasionally included a vocal disdain for his relationship with Kylie Jenner. Cromer would go on to distance herself from the actor after his failed awards campaign for Marty Supreme, for which he left empty-handed from all the major ceremonies. In an Instagram post announcing the shocking move, she wrote, “Things have changed in this fandom in such a significant way that we also have to adjust to the changes and focus on other interests that simply bring us joy.” Learn more about your ad choices. "The Life Of A Showgirl + MY FACE HURTS FROM SMILING — 4.005M," a user wrote on X the day prior, referring to Swift's latest album and Lizzo's 2025 mixtape, respectively. "ICEMAN + MAID OF HONOUR + HABIBTI — 683k." The post also featured a clip from her "STFU" music video. Lizzo, 38, reshared the post, asking users to clarify what the X user wrote: "Can someone explain what this means?" One user replied, saying, "It means all that s--- talking you did about Tay finally caught up to you." That's when Lizzo stepped in to defend herself. Learn more about your ad choices. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or so they say. In that case, Meghan Trainor’s Toy With Me is the biggest compliment anyone could ever pay Sabrina Carpenter. Between the sexy pastel babydoll aesthetic, glitzy production, cheeky hooks, (attempts at) winking innuendo, and even the stupid banged wig in every visualizer, there’s very little on the “All About That Bass” singer’s latest album that does not have the Short n’ Sweet star in its DNA. What doesn’t scream Sabrina, though, screams someone else: “Chef’s Kiss” echoes Taylor Swift’s “Karma”; “Rich Man” feels a little too close to aespa’s hit of the same name from last year. None of this compares to the closing track, “Shimmer,” which is so close to Tate McRae’s “Just Keep Watching” that a future lawsuit wouldn’t be surprising. The bridge is nearly identical to McRae’s chorus, down to lines like “Just do it like this, break your back”—shockingly similar to McCrae’s “Goes like this, start with the track / Eyes on me, archin’ my back.” You have to wonder what the hell Trainor’s team was thinking. Michael is aiming for a record-breaking opening weekend. It’s also a critical flop. In a vacuum, the Michael Jackson biopic might sound like a perfectly palatable film. The movie stars Jackson’s real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson as the titular singer, following his childhood through the height of his career in the 1980s with non-stop musical sequences of the King of Pop’s greatest hits. But Michael Jackson’s legacy is more than just music. Audiences and critics alike are panning Michael for glossing over the dark side of Jackson’s life, proving that it takes more than a famous subject to make a biopic a critical success—even while Jackson’s star power propels the movie to a box office of $70 million its debut weekend. Bieber reportedly earned close to $10 million for the appearance, placing the set among the highest-paid in Coachella history, yet the creative execution leaned heavily into minimalism, with the defining segment centered on a prolonged onstage “YouTube time capsule” in which he played viral clips, early career footage and fragments of older songs from a laptop, creating a deliberately fragmented and referential structure that resembled an internet browsing session more than a conventional festival headlining arc. Coverage from outlets like Entertainment Weekly and Business Insider emphasized this structural choice as the defining characteristic of the show, while The Guardian noted the strength of his vocal delivery even within the restrained staging. About a month ago, Zara Larsson‘s friends started sending her obscure TikTok videos that used her song with Clean Bandit, “Symphony.” The posts had random observations or dark self-loathing messages — like “I have social anxiety,” “I’m scared of people,” and “I’m pregnant and it’s yours” — written over images of dolphins flying in a Lisa Frank-esque world. The posts were quite strange, with some getting a few thousand likes. “I was like, ‘Why is this getting so much attention?’” the pop star remembers thinking. “And then boom, the whole internet started thinking it was funny.” Larsson has been making pop music since she was a teenager. In 2017, her second album So Good broke her out internationally, with hit singles ‘Lush Life’ and ‘Ain’t My Fault’ entering the UK Top 10. She kept a moderate hold on pop stardom in the following years, returning to the Top 10 with ‘Ruin My Life’ in 2018 and the Top 20 with David Guetta collab ‘On My Love’ in 2023. “I feel like people rediscover me every couple of years,” she told Line Of Best Fit in September 2025.
