Life won’t wait - we get one shot - and you are in the driver's seat. You can Do Hard Things. I’m Danni Duncan…featured fitness and nutrition coach, author, speaker and mum of 4 amazing kiddies (including twins). Online I’ve shared it all, my pregnancy journeys, miscarriages, why you SHOULDN’T be eating cereal for breakfast, how to make the perfect sourdough and helping you to see that YOU can do hard things. The things I’ve said online have often got me into a bit of trouble, and its because I’m not afraid to call people out on their shit … I’m not afraid to discuss taboo topics and I don’t believe that any of us need to live an average life where we do what society is telling us is ‘normal’ … instead its our job to question “Why is that normal?” And is that what we want for our own life? This podcast is going to be a space where I chat to experts (and share my own thoughts) on WHY we aren’t living our full potential. Where you can get the facts that will help you to get your happiness, motivation and confidence back. Taking the first steps can be hard, but I’m here to help you make it a little easier to face your fears and live your best life - every, single, day. I will make you feel uncomfortable, I will make you think differently but you may just wanna hear it. If you want to make this year the year that you do something for yourself, you’re in the right space. Click Follow and Join me Every Thursday

5 Habits That Will Change Your Life: My Honest Health & Fitness Philosophy Everyone's showing you the before and after photo. The six pack. The number on the scales. But nobody shows you the part where you actually like who you are. In this episode I'm sharing the philosophy behind everything I do and teach. Why most diets fail, why calories in calories out isn't the whole story, and the five habit framework I use with every single woman I coach. This isn't about an eight week challenge or a meal plan you white knuckle your way through. This is about building a life where being healthy isn't something you do. It's just who you are. Plus I share the story of my client Annalise who is down 18kg but more importantly has completely changed her life in ways no before and after photo could ever show. If you are done with the bandwagon, done with starting again every Monday, and ready to actually fix this for good, this one is for you. Dr Michaela Sorensen is a GP, a Jodi Lee Foundation ambassador, and a cancer survivor. She's been on both sides of a diagnosis and it changed everything about how she practises medicine. At 34, with a two-month-old baby at home, a routine dentist appointment revealed a rare stage four cancer on the roof of her mouth. A month in hospital, four 12-hour surgeries, and an NG tube later, she came out the other side with a completely different perspective on health. In this episode we talked about food as medicine, preventative health, the longevity secrets hiding in blue zones, and why women especially are terrible at advocating for themselves even when they know something is wrong. If you want to learn more about the power of food as medicine and take your health more seriously, this episode is for you. Chris is not a runner. But last weekend he ran 42.195 kilometres anyway. This is our honest debrief of the Gold Coast Marathon. What went well, what fell apart, and what we'd do differently before the New York Marathon in 15 weeks. We talk about how we made marathon training work around four kids, full time work, and Chris still playing football through the entire prep. Zone 2 training, recovery, why mobility matters more than you think, and the moment around 36 kilometres where I started questioning everything. We also answer some of your juicy questions: how we manage mornings with four kids, switching off from work when you both work from home, and the PCOS and Ozempic conversation that I could honestly do a whole episode on. This one's real, honest, and a little chaotic. Just like us. We're also fundraising for bowel cancer awareness ahead of New York. We have a trivia night on the 5th of September in Melbourne and the link will be live next week. Every dollar counts. Olga Newman is the creator of the Face Up method and she'll take five years off your face in 30 minutes. But that's not why I wanted to have her on the podcast. I'd just had my first treatment with Olga when we recorded this, and what started as a conversation about aesthetics went so much deeper than I expected. We talked about why stress and jaw tension show up on your face faster than any cream or filler can fix, why Botox doesn't actually solve the problem (and where that tension goes instead), and why the real anti-aging secret has nothing to do with needles or a 12-step skincare routine. This one changed how I think about aging, Botox, and what it actually means to look after yourself. I want to have a super honest conversation about weight loss injections because it is getting out of control. We have mums doing shady black market deals on Facebook, trying to do EVERYTHING but eat better and exercise. I’m tired of it but not only that - I’m scared of what our future is going to look like. And especially, what that future is going to look like for our kids. I brought fitness coach Bailey Haslam ( @baileyhaslam_ ) on the show with me to talk about it, and to find out what she’s been seeing in her own coaching circles (it shocked me). It is still Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and I wanted to take this opportunity to step behind the mic for a raw, solo check-in 12 months after my diagnosis and surgery. I’m not going to lie, I get really emotional in this one. It is wild how fast a year goes by, but looking back, cancer completely shattered and rebuilt the way I look at life. I am opening up about things I usually keep close to my chest, like navigating a low bank account while running a business, learning to love a body I spent my whole life hating, and why facing your own mortality makes everyday stresses just melt away. I also give an honest update on my latest PET scan, some unexpected scan-xiety, and why I am officially banning the word anti-aging from my vocabulary. Life is an absolute privilege. So let me ask you: Are you actually living yours? Learn more about the Jodi Lee Foundation at www.jodileefoundation.org.au If you’re over 45, you can grab a free bowel cancer screening kit here . Nick started the Jodi Lee Foundation after losing his wife Jodi to bowel cancer when she was just 41. She had mild symptoms so went to a GP, and the following night she was being flown to Bangkok for emergency surgery. Nick was then told in the waiting room that Jodi had Stage 4 Bowel Cancer and had 2 years to live. Nick has since gone on to create the Jodi Lee Foundation - dedicating his life to raising awareness around bowel cancer and helping Australians to act before it gets too late. I wanted to chat with Nick to hear what it was like for him, from the moment Jodi was diagnosed, how they broke the news to his 2 kids, and the impact Jodi’s legacy has had on bowel cancer awareness. Today’s episode is to support Bowel Cancer Awareness, and I really wanted to have this conversation because bowel cancer is something we often still think of as an “older person’s disease”. But we’re now seeing more and more younger people being diagnosed, and I think for a lot of us, especially women and mums, it can be really easy to explain away symptoms. We’re tired because we’re busy. We’re bloated because we ate something. Our digestion is off because life is stressful. We tell ourselves it’s probably nothing. So today I’m joined by Professor Robert Bryant, who is a specialist in gut health and Head of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide and also a dad of 4. I’m asking him everything around gut health and bowel cancer. Including: > Why are younger people now getting diagnosed with bowel cancer > Why Australia has some of the highest risk of bowel cancer in the world > Whether having IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Crohns or being Celiac increases your chances of getting bowel cancer > How can we improve our gut health without relying on supplements > The signs and symptoms you should be keeping an eye on (and advocating for yourself if you have them!) … and SO much more If you’re over 45, you can grab a free bowel cancer screening kit here . If you're under 45 and you really want to get yourself checked, the Jodi Lee Foundation is selling them here . But in classic Duncan fashion, of course it’s not all doom and gloom 😂 We’re also talking about how hard being gluten free has been for Chris, mental breakdowns before 40, and why it’s so hard for men to go to the doctor. If you’ve ever felt like you’re too busy, too tired, too old, too unsure, or too deep in motherhood to chase something for yourself, this episode is going to feel like a biiiiig exhale. Today I’m chatting with the beautiful Colleen Callander. She was the CEO of Sportsgirl, she’s a mum, an author, a speaker, and honestly just one of those women who makes you feel like you can do big things too. She has sooo much wisdom around confidence, backing yourself, burnout, motherhood, ageing, and building a life that actually feels like yours. In this episode, we’re talking about what it really looks like to stop waiting until you feel ready, start trusting yourself a little more, and remember that you are absolutely not done yet. In this episode, we chat about: > Why so many women wait until they feel “ready” before they do the thing, and how confidence actually comes from having a go > That horrible little voice in your head telling you you’re too old, too young, not good enough, or everyone else is doing it better > How motherhood can make you lose yourself a little bit, and why wanting something for yourself does not make you a bad mum > What burnout looked like for Colleen at 36, and the changes she had to make so she could actually feel like herself again > How to stop comparing yourself to everyone else > Why life after 50 can be bloody exciting!! Who should avoid Ozempic? Who is Ozempic for? What are the side effects no one is talking about? Today’s episode is Part 2 of my interview with Amelia Phillips, a nutritionist, exercise scientist and co-founder of Vitality 360, to help us unpack Ozempic, GLP-1 medications and what women in midlife really need to know before considering them. In Part 1 we spoke about what actually changes in perimenopause, why weight can feel harder to shift, how much of it is hormones versus lifestyle, fasting, protein, and the very inconvenient truth that yes… calories still matter. BUT we ran out of time right as we were about to get into the stuff everyone has questions about. So today we’re talking about Ozempic, GLP-1 medications, healthy fats, longevity, and what a 3-step plan could look like if you’re a woman in midlife who wants to lose weight without losing your mind. We recorded this from a bath in Bali… Em and I have just wrapped my 8th retreat and are equal parts cooked, sweaty and ready to unpack everything that happened. What started as chaos (and a few random tangents) turned into some pretty honest chats about why people hold themselves back, why everything feels so hard, and what needs to change so that people can start being happy again. Also… if you’ve ever been personally victimised by chocolate, other people’s opinions, or Bali humidity… you’ll feel seen. Does a 7 time Olympian have their life and motherhood together? This is one of the first questions I asked, Libby Trickett. I’m sure she needs no explanation but just in case - Libby is an ex competitive swimmer who was a gold medalist in not one but THREE Olympics, and held the world record for the 100m free style. We’re chatting about everything , including why being an Olympian does not mean you have your life together, what it’s like going from being the best in the world, to living a normal life, and what she’s seeing happening too often with kids and sport right now (this part’s really interesting). We chat about: > “What did we even do before kids?” because somehow there was SO much time and now there’s none > Libby’s morning routine with 5 kids > Getting five kids out the door in the morning (and how that that alone feels like a huge win) > The devastating race Libby didn’t watch for 15 years… and what happened when she finally did > The shift in your 40s where you genuinely don’t give a f about what other people think of you > That feeling of “am I even doing a good job?” (and why it doesn’t just go away) > Why we’re seeing less “body trust” in women + how that all links back to kids not moving as much … and SO much more If you want more of Libby you can follow her on IG @libby_trickett. A few weeks ago, Chris and I announced that we’re running the New York Marathon… and it still feels slightly ridiculous to say out loud. Because if you had told me years ago that running would become such a big part of my life, I wouldn’t have believed you. And I know a lot of you listening probably feel the same. “I’m not a runner.” That’s exactly why I wanted to have this conversation. Today I’m joined by Anna from Adventure Time Travel, who has run more than 40 marathons all over the world and helped thousands of people cross finish lines they once thought were completely out of reach. If you’ve ever wondered whether running a marathon is something you could do, what it feels like to finish the New York Marathon and what kind of changes lie ahead for you… Then this is for you. Stick around to find out: > Why so many people tell themselves they’re “not a runner”… and what actually changes when that story shifts > What it feels like standing on the start line of a marathon for the first time > The moments during a race that stay with you long after you cross the finish line > What goes through your head when things get hard… and how people keep going > What Anna has seen in thousands of runners once they finally say yes to something that scares them > What she would say to you if you’ve ever thought about running a marathon… but haven’t signed up yet If you want to hear more from Anna, you can find her on IG @annaliptakruns or @hisandhertime . Right now there is SO much chatter around ultra-processed foods. We’ve got headlines about processed meats and cancer risk, food companies being sued in the US, and suddenly the term UPF (or ultraprocessed foods) is everywhere. And yet I think most people are still pretty confused because the food companies have deliberately made it difficult to figure out. You walk through the supermarket and you see things like: natural flavours no added sugar no added MSG gluten free …and it all sounds pretty healthy. But when you turn the packet around, the ingredient list can tell a very different story. Today I’m chatting with Jo from Additive Free Lifestyle to talk about it all - you’ve probably seen her stuff online before because she is an absolute powerhouse in this space. A taste of what you’ll hear: > The first things you should be looking at when reading ingredients list at the supermarket > What to do when everyone around you keeps trying to feed your kids treats and sugar > The most common marketing claims you should avoid > How are ‘flavours’ even made (this one will shock you) > The effects ultraprocessed foods are having on our appetites and taste preferences > Approaching birthday parties when you don’t want your kids to come home with insane energy levels > What it’s really like to live without ultra-processed foods > The difference Jo saw in her daughter’s behaviour as soon as she started cutting out snacks with artificial flavouring … and SO much more If you want more of Jo and are keen to see her tips, you can check her out on IG @ additivefreelifestyle or visit her website www.additivefreelifestyle.com . Why does weight loss in midlife suddenly feel impossible? You’re told to eat less… but more protein. Fast… but don’t stress your hormones. Lift weights… but also prioritise recovery. Sleep more… but also train harder. And then when none of it works the way it used to, you’re told: “It’s your hormones.” So you think, great, I’ll fix my hormones. And then that doesn’t magically fix your weight either. Today we’re actually going to untangle this properly. I’m joined by Amelia Phillips - nutritionist, exercise scientist, and someone who spends a lot of time working with women in midlife navigating exactly this. I’m asking Amelia questions like: > How to do you know if you’re pre peri-menopausal, peri-menopausal or menopausal > What actually changes during the body in perimenopause that affects weight specifically? > Does fasting create more stress and inflammation for women? > Who should definitely avoid fasting? > How do I increase my protein while still reducing my calories? … and SO much more If you want more from Amelia, follow her on IG @_amelia_phillips or listen to her podcast Healthy Her on Apple or Spotify . The fitness industry is louder than ever. We talk about the biggest lies in the industry, why they spread so easily, and how becoming a dad has changed the way he approaches coaching. Stick around to find out: > The biggest lie in the fitness industry that actually harms people > Why telling someone “you can do anything” isn’t always helpful > The problem with before and after photos in fitness marketing > Why supplements are pushed so aggressively online > Whether honesty is actually bad for business in the fitness industry > Why most new online coaches skip the part that actually makes them good at coaching > The difference between a good coach and a bad one > What becoming a dad changed for Diren personally and professionally > Whether AI will replace coaching in the future … and SO much more If you want more of Diren, you can follow him on IG @diren.kartal If you want to try Hyro, you can get 50% off your first subscription at www.drinkhyro.com/danniduncan You’ll also get a free welcome kit, flavour sample pack, free shipping and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Women care about their health. The industry knows that… And it’s profiting from your fear. There are more supplements than ever - peptides, anti-inflammation, prebiotics, probiotics, bone broth, metabolism “fixes”, reducing your cortisol… and yet women are more confused than ever. Stick around to find out: Why there are suddenly SO many supplements in the market Is biohacking just marketing? Is there any value for the everyday person? Are anti inflammatory diets worth it Should you be worried about your cortisol levels and high intensity exercise? Is one exercise a week enough to see significant change in your body?
