Welcome to the show that empowers you to choose your own adventure in motherhood! Your host, Cat Caldwell Myers, certified coach and CEO of The Adventure Paradox, shares minisodes about her work with animals, children, and podcasting itself. When we aren't dropping minisodes, we deliver life changing interviews with special guests. Each conversation will bring you ever closer to the adventure that is seeking you, inside your soul, regardless of your current circumstances (the paradox). Many have forgotten that the adventure is NOW - wherever we are, whatever is happening, and whoever we do it with, as much as it is all that we have done and all that we will do. Animals and nature help us do this, as do connecting with teachers and the principles of adventure. We focus on goals and the realities that often keep us from attaining them, learning to master both in the fullness of "THE Adventure Paradox." Entrepreneurial Mothers, Caretakers and Women who crave elevated relationships and love animals and nature, will especially resonate with our message, community and offerings. We offer writing and podcasting services to teach professionals how to get in to the top 3% of podcasts, publish a bestseller, find their voice and launch their purpose from anywhere in the world. What if your horse is responding less to what you say and more to who you are being? In this thoughtful conversation, I sit down with Julia Carpenter, founder of The Two Step Way, to explore what becomes possible when we slow down enough to truly see the being in front of us. Julia shares how horses reflect our nervous systems, why presence matters more than performance, and how healing often begins not with fixing, but with noticing. We talk about somatic healing, trauma stored in the body, the relationship between science and spirituality, and the quiet intelligence animals offer when we create enough space to listen. This conversation moved far beyond horsemanship. It became an invitation to reconnect with ourselves, soften our need to control, and remember that wonder still belongs in our lives. We also explore: What “See the Being™” really means How horses read our nervous systems Trauma, freeze states, and healing through safety Why slowing down can transform connection The overlap between science, intuition, and somatic awareness How technology may be disconnecting us from presence Julia’s powerful story of Magneto and the horse who changed her life If you’ve ever felt like your horse was trying to tell you something… or like life itself keeps offering lessons you’re meant to notice… this episode is for you. What if the things we assume about health are only part of the story? In this episode,, I sit down with Chris Burres, founder and chief scientist of My Vital C, author, podcast host, and someone whose path into health and longevity started in a place he never expected. We talk about the moment a research study changed everything, what mitochondria actually do, and why asking better questions may matter more than chasing quick answers. This conversation moves between science and curiosity, from how supplements are regulated to the complexity of translating research into real life. Chris also shares the story behind ESS60, the role of oxidative stress, and what led him from carbon nanomaterials into the wellness world. Whether you love geeking out on health, enjoy exploring new ideas, or simply want to think differently about what helps us feel our best, this one will stretch your perspective. In this episode, we explore: The unexpected study that shifted Chris’s entire career Why longevity research is more complicated than headlines suggest What mitochondria have to do with energy, sleep, and wellbeing The reality of supplement regulation and consumer awareness How curiosity can open doors we never planned to walk through Resources & Links One-page links: https://www.myvitalc.com/share Website: https://www.myvitalc.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/myvitalc/ Special offers up to 40% discount + free 18 Biohacking Tips available: https://www.myvitalc.com/theadventure/ Adventure on! I love conversations that remind me that feeling better does not have to mean changing your whole life. Sometimes it starts with paying attention, trying something new, or building something because you think there might be a better way. In this episode, I sat down with entrepreneur and founder Zac Curhan to talk about wellness, adventure, and what happened when a side project turned into something much bigger. Zac grew up surrounded by health and movement and eventually created TruWild, a supplement brand designed for people who want to feel good and keep showing up for the things they love. What started with one product and a small budget became a business built around everyday energy and adventure. We talk about the wellness industry, what “clean” means when it comes to supplements, why electrolytes seem to be everywhere right now, and how to cut through the noise and find what actually works for you. But this conversation also goes beyond products. We talk about challenge, family, doing hard things on purpose, and the kind of life you want people to remember you lived. In this episode: Building a business without outside funding Clean supplements and wellness trends Electrolytes and everyday energy Adventure outside of extreme sports Family, community, and legacy Connect with Zac: Website: https://truwild.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tru_wild Instagram Personal: https://www.instagram.com/zstar77/ Purcase TRUWILD for 30% OFF: https://truwild.com/discount/Adventure30 (Discount code: Adventure30) If something in this conversation stayed with you, send it to a friend and ask yourself: what helps you feel most alive right now? The Fourth of July is here, and if you're anything like me, you might be tempted to squeeze every ounce of fun, celebration, and summer adventure into one weekend. But what if the secret isn't doing more? What if it's being a little less wrecked tomorrow by what you choose today? In this minisode, I'm sharing a few of my favorite reminders for navigating busy seasons, from setting timers and taking naps to embracing the occasional "dead day." I talk about recovery, summer with kids, overcommitting, and why rest might be one of the most overlooked parts of a good adventure. You'll Hear In This Episode: The question I ask myself when life starts feeling too full Why recovery is just as important as celebration My thoughts on naps, dead days, and summer self care Parenting lessons from a summer without much structure Repair, responsibility, and reaching out to the people you love Reflection: The best adventures aren't always the biggest ones. Sometimes they're found in the choices that help us stay present enough to enjoy the life we're already living. A little more rest. A little less rushing. A little more intention about what we say yes to. As you celebrate, connect, and make memories this week, consider this question: How could you be a little less wrecked tomorrow by what you choose today? What if the thing meant for you arrives exactly when you’re ready to receive it? This week, I’m joined in the studio by Lillie Lauterbach, founder of Jackson Hole Beadwork, creator of breathtaking hand-beaded statement pieces, and someone who reminds us that creativity has a way of finding us at exactly the right moment. Lillie shares the winding path that brought her here, from years working as a massage therapist, solo adventures through India and Nepal, deep spiritual practice, heartbreak, reinvention, and eventually discovering beadwork during a season that changed everything. We talk about the paradox of creating beauty: how discipline and surrender live side by side, how inner transformation often becomes visible in unexpected ways, and why following curiosity can sometimes lead you home to yourself. We also explore: Finding love later than expected and trusting divine timing How travel, spirituality, and stillness shaped Lillie’s creative voice Turning a self-taught skill into a thriving luxury brand Navigating imposter syndrome and owning your value Why beauty can be a reflection of what’s happening within Building a life that feels deeply aligned, one small choice at a time This conversation is a reminder that the adventure isn’t always loud. Sometimes it begins quietly, with a thread, an idea, or the courage to trust what keeps calling you. There are conversations that deepen the way we relate to our horses, and this was absolutely one of them. As someone who lives alongside horses every day, I’m always curious about the space where intuition, experience, and science meet. Sitting down with neuroscientist and horse trainer Janet Jones felt like stepping further into that understanding. Janet is the author of the bestselling Horse Brain, Human Brain, a book that genuinely transformed the way I think about horse behavior, trust, fear, training, and the horse-human connection. In this conversation, we explore insights from her upcoming book, A Horse's World, available now for pre-order before its June 23 release. We talk about what’s actually happening when horses snort or lick and chew, how horses experience the world through smell, why lighting and vision matter more than most riders realize, and the neuroscience behind helping horses feel safe in new environments. One part that especially stayed with me was Janet describing a new horse as feeling like “a tourist in a foreign country.” As I’ve been integrating a new mare into my own herd, that perspective felt incredibly grounding and compassionate. We also explore: • Rewarding relaxation instead of only correcting behavior • Predator brains vs. prey brains • Wild horses vs. horses living in the wild • Anthropomorphism in horsemanship • Building trust through consistency, calmness, and understanding This conversation felt less like learning “about” horses and more like remembering to see the world a little more through their eyes. Some conversations slow time. They remind us that the adventure is not something we chase, but something we notice. Sitting with Kelly Wendorf felt like stepping back into that remembering. Kelly is the founding CEO of EQUUS Inspired, a women run leadership and transformation organization rooted in nature based wisdom and horse human connection. Raised among archeological digs, Kelly shares how horses became her teachers in leadership, presence, and trust. We talk about power and partnership, the responsibility of working with horses with reverence, and why this moment in history is quietly asking us to choose love over fear. In this episode we explore • What thriving feels like beyond success • How horses guide us back to presence • Relationship over control • Listening as a form of leadership As you listen, notice where something softens. That may be where the next part of your adventure begins. The adventure is not somewhere out there. It is in the choices you are making right now. In this conversation, I sit with Krystal Eicher and Wendy Guth, co-founders of Serendipitous Rebel, who help women build businesses that support the life they actually want to live. Their path moved through unexpected pivots, partnership changes, and moments that asked them to slow down and listen more deeply. We explore what happens when you stop chasing what looks successful and start choosing what feels aligned. The kind of work that honors your real life, your relationships, and your capacity. Reflections to sit with: • The adventure is here, not someday • Success can shift as you grow • Alignment often comes from letting go, not adding more • You are allowed to build a life and business that work together Maybe the question is not what you need to achieve next. Sometimes the adventure we are seeking is the courage to finally turn inward and face the parts of ourselves we’ve been avoiding. In this honest and deeply grounding conversation, I sit down with Kaira Pechtl, somatic psychotherapy practitioner and communication coach, to explore trauma healing, codependency, emotional resilience, and authentic connection. We talk about childhood wounds, nervous system regulation, emotional triggers, relationships, boundaries, and why true healing starts with connection to self. We also explore the role of community, vulnerability, animals, and nature in helping us reconnect to presence and truth. If you’ve ever felt emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or exhausted from carrying everyone else’s needs, this episode is for you. In this episode, we explore: Somatic therapy and trauma healing Codependency and emotional maturity Nervous system regulation and triggers Healthy communication and relationships Boundaries, self trust, and vulnerability Women’s healing and collective connection “The suffering we run from because we are unwilling to face the truth of life, and the suffering that comes when we're willing to stop running from the sorrows and difficulties of the world. What if asking for help is only the beginning? In this mini-sode, I’m reflecting on the adventure of actually receiving support when it shows up. From travel and horses to mental health, wellness, and coming home after some big experiences lately, this episode is a reminder that we are not meant to carry everything alone. I share stories from recent travels to the United Kingdom, competing in a speaking competition, discovering new wellness tools, and preparing for the Grand Butterfly March in Jackson Hole. There are moments when things are not working, when effort feels heavy and nothing is clicking. And then something shifts. Not outside of you, but within you. This conversation is a reminder that the adventure is not in forcing results, but in how we choose to show up, especially on the hard days. I sat down with Dave Ribble and Gaye Ribble, partners in life and business, to talk about connection, intuition, and building something meaningful together. Dave, author of The Way of the Conscientious Connector and founder of Standout Mastery, shares how one unexpected moment changed the way he approached networking and business forever. Gaye, CEO of Standout Marketing and Strategies, brings a grounded and intuitive perspective on partnership, energy, and growth. Their story is about love, trust, and choosing a different way when the old way no longer works. Sometimes life does not gently guide us. Sometimes it stops us in our tracks so we can finally listen. Lisa Bromfield shares what it looked like to have a life that seemed successful on the outside but felt deeply misaligned within. After losing her six figure job, she found herself stepping into something unexpected. Through stillness, meditation, and trusting the quiet voice inside, she began to rebuild a life rooted in purpose, joy, and meaning. Lisa is a transformational life guide, author, speaker, Reiki practitioner, and death doula. Her work centers on helping people reconnect with their inner wisdom, move through life transitions, and create a life that feels aligned with who they truly are. We explore forgiveness, self trust, the power of small daily shifts, and how nature and silence can guide us back to ourselves. This conversation is a reminder that what feels like an ending may actually be the beginning of something more true. Takeaways • Daily practices like meditation can open the door to deeper guidance • Losing something can create space for something more aligned • Forgiveness is the first step before true gratitude can be felt • Self limiting beliefs keep us stuck in cycles that do not serve us • Stillness and time in nature help us hear our inner voice more clearly Learn more about Lisa: The M.A.G.I.C. Sometimes the strongest connection happens when we unplug from everything else. In this minisode, I reflect on what I call the “original Wi Fi connection” which is the deep soul connection we feel through horses, nature, prayer, presence, and trusting something greater than ourselves. This episode is a reminder that the adventure is happening right now. In the simple moments. In the hard seasons. In the connection we create with ourselves, each other, and the world around us. What happens when we stop trying to control and start choosing connection? This episode was originally recorded as part of the Spiritual Horse Seekers Summit (April 7–17), a gathering centered on deepening our relationship with horses and ourselves. While the summit has passed, this conversation stands on its own as a powerful reflection on trust, presence, and a different way of being with horses. In this episode, I sit down with Fred Bueltmann of the Red Horse Center. What began as an unexpected path, moving into a home that came with a horse, grew into a life devoted to healing, leadership, and connection through horses. Fred shares the story of Blackjack, a horse who changed everything. Through that relationship, he was guided toward a way of being rooted in trust, consent, and willingness rather than control. We talk about the quiet, wordless language horses live in, where energy, presence, and honesty shape connection. Through a trauma-informed lens, Fred offers a deeper look at how horses support human healing, while also honoring their own experiences and needs. This conversation invites you to slow down, listen differently, and consider what becomes possible when connection comes first. Takeaways: Horses invite us into a deeper, wordless awareness Trust and safety are built through presence, not control Healing with horses is shared, not one-sided True connection begins with consent and willingness Horses guide us back to a more honest way of being What might shift if you allowed yourself to listen, not with words, but with your whole being? There’s a moment I’ve been sitting with… where something lands, something you’ve been working toward finally arrives… and instead of everything slowing down, life just keeps going. The dishes are still there. The responsibilities don’t pause. And somewhere in the middle of that, it’s easy to miss it… the fact that you’re actually in the dream. I’ve been feeling into what it means to stay with that moment. To not rush past it. To not let the noise or the mess or even my own mistakes pull me out of it. To come back, take ownership where I need to, and still choose to be here… in what I asked for. Because the truth is, there’s always going to be more. Another step. Another stretch. Another mountain. But this part… this right here… matters too. Somewhere along the way, we forgot how to just be. And yet, in the presence of a horse, that knowing comes back. Not through effort, but through feeling. Through breath. Through connection. In this conversation, I sit down with Dr. Pebbles Turbeville, CEO of the Horses and Humans Research Foundation, and we explore what science is beginning to confirm and what many of us have always felt. Horses help us reconnect to ourselves. From research on cerebral palsy and PTSD to the deeper conversation around horse wellbeing and our role as stewards, this is about more than horses. It is about how we live, how we care, and how we return to what matters. This one feels like a breath. Takeaways: • Horses support healing physically and emotionally • Presence with horses invites calm and awareness • Wellbeing includes both humans and animals • Nature and community are essential, not optional Where are you being invited to slow down and simply be? Some moments slow us down in the best way. Being with a horse has that power. Breath deepens. The body listens. The mind quiets. In this episode, Julie Robins reminds us that healing is not about fixing what is broken. It begins with presence. Julie Robins is an equine behavior specialist and the founder of the Horsemanship Academy and the Leg Up Experience. Her work focuses on relationship based horse work and the healing power of horses for veterans, first responders, trauma survivors, and those seeking deeper connection. Julie shares her personal journey with horses and why one meaningful encounter can change everything. This conversation explores horses as teachers, mirrors, and powerful guides back to the present moment. It is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with nature, and listen more deeply. There is something that shifts when you are with a horse. Not because they are doing anything to you, but because they are not asking you to be anything other than what you are. In this conversation, Kate Neligan and I explore what it means to listen, to horses, and to yourself. As an equine partnered coach and animal communicator, Kate shares how these animals help us reconnect to our inner voice and build trust from the inside out. We talk about intuition in a simple, real way. How to recognize it, how to trust it, and how to tell the difference between guidance and fear. We also touch on the deeper layers, the mother wound, self trust, and the patterns that shape how safe we feel. Horses meet us in those places without judgment, and without needing us to fix anything first. One thing that stayed with me is this idea of safety. Not something we control, but something we create through presence and honesty. Maybe that is the invitation. To slow down. To listen. To trust yourself a little more.
