My guest for this episode is Jessi Beyer, a Mental Health Professional, an international TEDx speaker; the #1 best-selling author of 'How To Heal: A Practical Guide To Nine Integrative Therapies That Can Help Release Trauma' ; a crisis mental health professional embedded with law enforcement in Snohomish County, Washington; and a negotiator with Region 1 SWAT. Jessi talks passionately about how we can support each other in the workplace and reduce the stigma associated with mental health. And she reinforces the fact that whilst some organisations may think they don't have any mental health issues amongst their teams, the reality is that the actual rate of affliction is something like 1 in 5 people. Listen for Jessi's description of what represents a 'crisis' for each of us as individuals - because it is different for all of us. She then follows this up with some great indicators that may suggest a colleague is having some coping difficulties. This was a fascinating discussion - please do invest the time to listen. You may just save a colleague a lot of pain and suffering by thinking about things slightly differently. Here's an interesting topic you might not know a lot about, but it underpins a lot of today's major projects - it's Surety Bonds! And today's guest, Gary Eastman will explain all. Gary is an attorney turned entrepreneur who has built a seven-figure national surety bond brokerage in what might be the most overlooked industry in America. And if you aren't in the USA never fear - these bonds are used globally (in Australia they are often referred to as Performance Bonds). There are some very compelling reasons for using surety bonds - for a start, better use of your organisation's finances on growth not guarantees! For the other compelling reasons, you'll need to take a listen to this episode. You can also touch base with Gary via his email address: gary@swiftbonds.com Enjoy the episode! This episode brings us a chat with Kash Rocheleau, Financial Strategist, Fractional Accountant & CFO and Growth Advisor. Kash generously shares her journey climbing the corporate ladder all the way to becoming a CEO. She goes on to tell how the role started to take over her life at the cost of those she cared for and the things she had a passion for. Kash turned the learnings from this experience into her business - Outgrow. The theme of the business is to help small to medium businesses 'outgrow' the limiting systems / processes that are holding them back from growing their firm. She provides the example of an owner who is doing their own accounts, believing it is saving money. This description won't do the interview justice - please take the time to listen to this fascinating discussion! In this episode, we learn just how small the world really is! In all the prep and comms that goes on in coordinating guests for the show, until we connected for the interview, little did I know that he lived just up the road from the Mastering Risk Management headquarters. My guest is Dan Godden, Director of SolveSimple a firm whose goal is to make technology simple, useful and human. In our chat, Dan shared some real gems. Firstly, a reminder that alongside every technology project is a people project - often not scoped or thought about. Secondly, that sometimes it's best to get an expert to help with this component - a co-sourced change resource can make all the difference in taking your people along on the journey. Lastly, Dan talked about the 'side-hustle' that these projects often afford - and that is to turn your technical experts into people managers. This was a terrific chat and will be well worth your investment of time. It's here - the final episode in the three-part mini-series on Risk Management Systems and specifically the Corporate Governance Risk CGR Foundation software. We've heard about the founding of the software and what the problem was that it was designed to address, and we've also heard from a very satisfied client in Funlab via the Chief Financial Officer, Andrew Wilson. In this episode, Leo Arouca General Manager Australia for CGR, rejoins us to talk about the why - why organisations need to move away from Excel-based risk registers and adopt a dedicated risk management tool. There are a stack of benefits that businesses will see straight away - visibility of the risk environment for the organisation, understanding the most important risks in terms of focusing resources, ability to manage access by role and track who has made changes, to name just a few. Leo also very generously shares a view of the future and some of the additional capabilities that are being baked into the tool as you listen to this program - suffice to say, there are exciting times ahead! Getting the basics right before exploring Artificial Intelligence projects is the key message from my guest for this episode. Santosh Kaveti is the CEO and Founder of ProArch, a purpose-driven enterprise that accelerates value and increases resilience for its clients with consulting and technology services, enabled by cloud, guided by data, fueled by apps, and secured by design. His pro tip? First, get your data sorted - classification, access, governance etc. Without this, you could be putting your organisation in harm's way and in this day and age, there is no excuse for not understanding the data you collect, what you do with it, how you manage, store and dispose of it. Once you have your data 'housekeeping' right, you can explore the amazing possibilities of AI confident in the knowledge that you won't be exposing confidential or personally identifiable information (PII) inadvertently. Santosh shares his vast experience in this space - I know you will enjoy listening as much as I did talking to him.
