Lucy Bevan casting and cast at talent are actively hunting for a UK-based actress 10 to 12 years old, and nobody's been named.

DavidRight, but here's my question. Why is this search still going? Syfy's report on this laid out the age range and the UK requirement pretty clearly, so the parameters exist. They just haven't found her yet.

DavidSure, but there's an actual deadline attached this time. Submissions need a self-taped poem or story reading plus an intro video, and that window reportedly closes July 17th.

Becca HartwellRight, and that's the moment the actress has to earn, waking up disoriented, not knowing what she's done. None.

DavidYeah, yeah, yeah, a psychological arc stretched across, what, ten chapters?

Becca HartwellAt least-and this next part raises the stakes even more for me: Half-Blood Prince. If this actor sticks around, she's not just Ron's little sister anymore.

DavidShe's playing Harry's love interest.

Becca HartwellRight. Casting directors want more than a kid who can cry on cue now; they need chemistry reads with someone who might be sixteen, seventeen by the time they film it? Hell?

Becca HartwellI'm just picturing casting directors combing through hundreds of tapes for the right shade of red.

DavidSomewhere out there is a very patient hairdresser on standby.

Becca HartwellAnd the books describe her hair as matching her brother's from the very first page they meet at King's Cross.

DavidAnd that ties into something else: how fast HBO is actually moving to find her.

Becca HartwellOh, we need to talk numbers on that.

DavidBecause compared to how the Trio search went? and wildly different pace. Let's talk numbers, because the numbers here are wild.

DavidSo the original Trio Search, opened September 2024, didn't wrap until May 2025.

DavidIs there, though? If the pool's narrower because the family's locked, a faster close makes sense.

Becca HartwellOr the faster close exists because production's breathing down their necks and they don't have eight months this time.

DavidMaybe both things are true.

Becca HartwellI mean, I get it-narrower pool, faster process, logical. But you don't replace a character with this much book material in a few weeks and call it careful.

DavidFair; I'll just say the family being locked is doing a lot of the work here that the tape count did the first time around.
