Laundry List Day: 150+ Fixes, Leftovers Logic, and a Spooky Maker Pack
Show notes
What the episode covers
In this episode of The Plumbob Report, Becca and Danny go through what EA has announced for the October 27 base-game update for The Sims 4. EA's October 20 Laundry List post describes the update as food, dining and drinks themed, with more than 150 fixes, including several key Dine Out fixes. They also look at the state of expansions as of late August and at new Halloween content on the Marketplace.
The update has not been released yet, so everything here reflects what is planned, not what is live. The post does not include a fix-by-fix list, and a jeu.video write-up confirms the date and fix count but says no deployment time has been announced. Listeners will come away knowing which fixes have been described, where details are still missing, and how the expansion and Marketplace picture looked in recent reporting.
- The October 27 update: a food, dining and drinks theme, 150+ planned fixes, and several Dine Out fixes, with no deployment time announced.
- Gameplay and stability fixes: Sims reportedly choosing leftovers before cooking a new meal, separate weight and muscle controls (per a secondary write-up), and a Navmesh fix for endless loading screens tied to heavy Move Objects use.
- Expansions: a late-August piece from The Sims Resource, covering only its view as of August 24, noted Royalty & Legacy as the only 2026 expansion so far, with Kits, Capsule Kits and Marketplace content filling the gap. EA's broader strategy remains an open question, not a confirmed plan.
- Halloween on the Marketplace: the Stay Spooky Maker Pack, the Satin Whisper and Summertime Elegant Living sets now on sale, and a Trick or Treat mod guide from The Sims Community.

Quick answers
Straight from the episode
The questions this one settles, without the listen.
- What is in the Oct 27 Sims 4 base-game update?
- According to EA's Oct 20 Laundry List post, the Oct 27 base-game update is food, dining and drinks themed and includes 150+ fixes, among them several key Dine Out fixes. The post does not give a fix-by-fix list. A jeu.video write-up confirms the date and fix count but says no deployment time has been announced. These changes are planned, not yet released.
- What gameplay changes are coming with the food-themed Sims 4 update?
- A secondary write-up mentions Sims using leftovers before cooking new food, plus separate controls for weight and muscle. That write-up carries a caveat, so treat the details as reported rather than confirmed in EA's own post.
- Does the update fix endless loading screens in The Sims 4?
- EA's post lists a Navmesh fix for endless loading caused by heavy use of Move Objects. The hosts did not promise faster load times in general, only credited the team for the fix.
- Is there a second Sims 4 expansion in 2026?
- Based on The Sims Resource's late-August article, Royalty & Legacy was the only 2026 expansion so far, and no second one had been announced as of Aug 24. That is an older article's view, not a confirmed EA plan. The piece pointed to Kits, Capsule Kits (Mean Girls and Clueless were upcoming then) and Marketplace content, in contrast with 2025.
- What is the Stay Spooky Maker Pack for The Sims 4?
- Per an Oct 19 Sims Community report, Stay Spooky is a Maker Pack priced around $3 with 10 Build items, made by KendyNambu. It is described as the first Halloween-themed Maker Pack.
- What other new Marketplace and Halloween content is available for The Sims 4?
- The Satin Whisper and Summertime Elegant Living sets leaked on Oct 14 and are now on sale. Sims Community also published an Oct 21 guide to the Trick or Treat mod for Halloween.

Becca HartwellOkay, picture this. My Sim cooks a brand new meal, fresh, steaming, and there's a perfectly good plate of leftovers sitting right there in the fridge.
Danny ReyesOh, no.
Becca HartwellDoesn't even look at it. Autonomy just says, "Nah, we're making lasagna again."
Danny ReyesAutonomy really said, "Choose violence." Meanwhile, that fridge is a museum of Tuesday.
Becca HartwellSul sul, everybody. I'm Becca, and this is The Plumbob Report. The big thing today is the October 27th update, and the list of fixes is enormous.
Danny ReyesAnd I'm Danny, here to ask the rude question, which is where is EA's focus this year? Because a mountain of fixes is great, but I have a thought.
Becca HartwellHold that thought. Today is about what's actually on the list.
Danny ReyesFine, fine. Snacks are ready. Expectations are low.
Becca HartwellOkay, let's open the laundry basket and see what EA is actually washing. Oh.
Danny ReyesOkay, so I actually read the official post. It's dated October 20th, and EA's own laundry list says this base game update is themed around food, dining, and drinks.
Becca HartwellFood. Of course it is. We've been feeding these Sims for 20-odd years, and now the game's finally going to look at the kitchen?
Danny ReyesLook at the kitchen and fix the restaurants.
Becca HartwellWait, really? Restaurants too?
Danny ReyesYep. The EA post says the update includes more than 150 bugs, and several of them are what it calls key Dine Out fixes. It doesn't spell out which ones, so I'm not going to invent a list.
Becca HartwellDine Out, the pack where I spent 45 minutes watching a waiter stare at a table.
Danny ReyesI mean, come on, we've all had that shift.
Becca HartwellThat's wild, right? That many fixes? That's not a patch. That's a whole wardrobe.
Danny ReyesRight, but let me slow us down a second. These are planned fixes. Nothing's out yet. A list is a promise.
Becca HartwellAnd Sims promises have a really good track record.
Danny ReyesSure, as long as the promise doesn't require the Sim to walk through a door.
Becca HartwellOkay, fair. Is the list at least clear about when it lands?
Danny ReyesThe date, yes. October 27th. A write-up on a site called Jeux Video confirms that date and the count.
Becca HartwellSo the date's locked. What about the time of day?
Danny ReyesThat's the catch. That same write-up says no deployment time has been announced.
Becca HartwellOh, no. So that's a whole day of refreshing the launcher.
Danny ReyesMotherlode of anxiety, honestly. You don't know if it's morning, afternoon, or the middle of the night.
Becca HartwellI'll be up. I'm always up. My Sim has more of a sleep schedule than I do.
Danny ReyesThat's the saddest thing you've said on this show. Anyway, some of the fixes in there read like a Sim wrote them with the autonomy turned all the way up.
Becca HartwellNo way. Okay, hit me with the weird ones.
Danny ReyesStarting with what a hungry Sim does when there's a fridge full of food.
Becca HartwellOkay, leftovers first because this one is my love language. A secondary write-up of the laundry list says hungry Sims will prefer leftovers before they cook a brand new meal.
Danny ReyesWait, really? So the lasagna in the fridge finally gets noticed?
Becca HartwellFinally. No more Sims standing next to three containers of spaghetti deciding to make toast.
Danny ReyesToast from scratch, like the fridge was a decoration.
Becca HartwellSame write-up mentions something else. Weight and muscle controls are separate now. That's all it says on either one, so no promises beyond that.
Danny ReyesSeparate. Oh, so the sliders stop fighting each other. I've had a Sim try to be buff and end up shaped like a refrigerator, so I'm hopeful.
Becca HartwellRefrigerator with leftovers inside. Full circle.
Danny ReyesOkay. The one I actually circled is the loading screen thing.
Becca HartwellYes. EA's post mentions a Navmesh robustness fix. It's for an endless loading bug caused by heavy use of the move objects cheat.
Danny ReyesHeavy use? Becca, I'm sorry. I'm being called out by a patch note.
Becca HartwellAre you a heavy mover?
Danny ReyesI have rearranged a kitchen for 40 minutes because a chair was two pixels wrong. Zero regrets. And my game loads like it's thinking about its whole life. Click, then coffee, then maybe a Sim.
Becca HartwellOkay. Be fair, though. Somebody on the team found the cause and went after it. That deserves credit.
Danny ReyesYeah, yeah. Credit given slowly like my loading bar.
Becca HartwellStop. I'm not saying it makes everything instant. It's one bug with one cause.
Danny ReyesRight, right. I'm not expecting miracles, just a world that opens before my tea gets cold.
Becca HartwellHonestly, that's a fine goal. And look, leftovers, sliders, loading. That's a really nice list.
Danny ReyesIt is, but I keep coming back to one thing. A giant fix list? Great. Love it. But what did expansions look like as of late August?
Becca HartwellMm. Okay, now you've got me nervous. Okay, so the expansions thing. There's an article on The Sims Resource from late August titled "It's Almost September and The Sims 4 Has Only Had One Expansion Pack in 2026."
Danny ReyesOuch. That headline has no chill.
Becca HartwellNone. The Sims Resource says Royalty and Legacy was the only expansion of 2026 so far. That's the one with dynasties, nobility, scandals, and the world of Ondarion.
Danny ReyesWait, so one. Just one?
Becca HartwellAs of late August, yeah. The article says EA hadn't announced a second one as of August 24th. It's an older article, so I'm not telling you what the count is today.
Danny ReyesFair. I would hate to yell, "No expansions!" and then EA drops one mid-sentence.
Becca HartwellYeah. The autonomy of the news cycle.
Danny ReyesOkay, so what does the article think was happening instead?
Becca HartwellIt points at kits, capsule kits, and marketplace content. It also contrasts the year with 2025.
Danny ReyesCapsule kits, like the small themed ones?
Becca HartwellRight, and it name-checks Mean Girls and Clueless as upcoming capsule kits as of late August.
Danny ReyesOh, interesting. Mean Girls and Clueless in my Sims game?
Becca HartwellWardrobe energy, I'm guessing.
Danny ReyesOh, I'm already picturing the plaid skirts. Sorry, continue.
Becca HartwellSo here's where my brain goes. We just spent a whole stretch on a fix list north of 150 items. Stack that next to a year with one big expansion by late August, and it makes you wonder if the strategy is shifting towards polish and smaller drops.
Danny ReyesOr it's just a quiet stretch and a big announcement is sitting in a drawer somewhere. We don't know.
Becca HartwellExactly. We don't. It's one article's read on the year, not a confirmed EA plan.
Danny ReyesHonestly, I want both, big packs and a game that doesn't choke on a kitchen. I think that's the whole fight in the community. People want shiny and stable at the same time.
Becca HartwellRight? And if you've seen something newer, trust that over us.
Danny ReyesOkay, strategy talk aside, I need a palate cleanser because the calendar says it's almost Halloween.
Becca HartwellOh, that reminds me. The marketplace has something spooky.
Danny ReyesSay no more. Bring on the cobwebs.
Becca HartwellOkay, spooky time. A report dated October 19th on Sims Community covers the first Halloween-themed maker pack on the marketplace. It's called Stay Spooky.
Danny ReyesStay Spooky. Sul sul, and also, what the heck? I love that.
Becca HartwellRight? It costs about $3.
Danny ReyesThree bucks? That's less than my coffee.
Becca HartwellAnd you get 10 build items from a creator called KendyNambu.
Danny Reyes10, so not a whole haunted mansion.
Becca HartwellNo, but 10 build pieces is plenty for a porch. A couple of cobwebby things, a vibe, done.
Danny ReyesWait, I'm doing the math. 10 items, $3, that's 30 cents a spooky thing.
Becca HartwellDanny doing marketplace economics.
Danny ReyesI contain multitudes.
Becca HartwellAnd the same report has a side note. The Satin Whisper and Summertime Elegance sets are now on sale.
Danny ReyesHold on. Summertime in late October?
Becca HartwellI know. Those two leaked early on October 14th, and now they're actually purchasable.
Danny ReyesThat Sim is not okay, wearing a sundress to trick or treat.
Becca HartwellSpeaking of which, trick or treat. A Sims Community guide published October 21st covers the Sims 4 trick or treat mod for Halloween night.
Danny ReyesA mod? Okay, now we're talking.
Becca HartwellThe guide frames it as a way to give your Sims the spookiest night of their lives.
Danny ReyesAnd honestly, the modders are doing the work for free again. Motherlode energy right there.
Becca HartwellDanny.
Danny ReyesWhat? It's seasonal. It counts.
Becca HartwellFine, fine. It counts.
Danny ReyesSo a $3 pack for the porch, a mod for the doorbell.
Becca HartwellAnd your Sims in a summer set, apparently.
Danny ReyesChaos. Perfect chaos.
Becca HartwellOkay, that's the report, so let's wrap it up. Okay, so we're out of time, and my Sim is standing in a doorway with a plate of leftovers.
Danny ReyesAutonomy strikes again.
Becca HartwellHonestly, thanks for spending laundry day with us. It's a lot of list, and you stuck around for all of it.
Danny ReyesEven the part where I got called out by a patch note.
Becca HartwellQuick version, because you've heard it. A giant fix list, an expansion question we left hanging, and a spooky pack that costs less than a coffee.
Danny ReyesLess than a fancy coffee, Becca. Let's be accurate.
Becca HartwellFair. If you liked this, subscribe, leave us a review, and send us your wildest Sims stories at @PlumbobReport.
Danny ReyesYes, the weirder the better. Pool ladder disasters, haunted toddlers, whatever your game did at 3:00 AM.
Becca HartwellDanny's already got a spreadsheet, I'm sure.
Danny ReyesI have a folder. Anyway, go check your fridge.
Becca HartwellWait, why?
Danny ReyesBecause somewhere, a Sim is eating week-old lasagna, and honestly, that Sim is thriving.
Becca HartwellAnd remember, everything we covered comes from what's been published, so check the patch notes yourself when the update lands.
Danny ReyesGood call. The date's the 27th. The time is a mystery.
Becca HartwellSul sul, everybody.
Danny ReyesSul sul.
