MayaDavid, what's actually happening with this pause on Iran? So the strikes on Iran just stopped. Nearly two weeks of bombing and now the U.S. military's paused while talks push forward, according to AP's reporting.

DavidPaused, not ended. That's a big distinction, and I want to know why now.

MayaRight, and Trump's advisers are apparently split on it. Some worried escalating further backfires, others think Iran's just buying time.

DavidIran doesn't come to the table because it feels generous. It comes because... Because two weeks of strikes made the alternative worse than talking.

DavidYep, the Houthis who get backing from Iran fired missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia as retaliation for Saudi strikes in Yemen's port city, Hodeidah, according to AP.

MayaSo while one hand's shaking a truce, the other hand's lighting fires two countries over.

DavidAnd it's not just Saudi Arabia. Iran's accusing Ukraine of hitting an Iranian vessel on the Caspian Sea, per Al Jazeera's reporting. Reporting.

MayaUkraine? That's a whole new front nobody saw coming.

DavidIt's fanning out into directions we didn't expect.

MayaOkay, but here's what actually lands on regular people: the U.S. military disabled a tanker trying to force its way through the Strait of Hormuz on July 24th after it ignored repeated warnings.
