DavidWhich, honestly, I didn't see coming. We'll get into that.

MayaThen brace yourself—there's a parasite going around causing quote

DavidSo the ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. is already done? Axios is reporting Trump's team is calling it over. And now everyone's watching the Strait of Hormuz. Wait, over?

DavidThat fast. Axios says the U.S. is bracing for something that could stretch on for days, maybe weeks.

Speaker 3Meanwhile, there's this image out of Tehran. BBC News is covering huge crowds burying the Ayatollah, just hours after the U.S. and Iran traded strikes.

Speaker 3Okay, pivot. Because while Hormuz was heating up, Trump was also at the NATO summit doing a lot.

Speaker 3But by the end, NATO leaders were relieved. Sabbagh's piece says allies who feared the worst are calling his renewed support for Article 5 a real win.

DavidYeah, and it's not light. The Guardian's Lucy Campbell wrote about cyclosporiasis, this parasite causing what they're calling explosive diarrhea.

MayaWait, really? That's the actual name doctors are using?

DavidThe Guardian's wording, not mine. It's surging in Michigan and other states, and the CDC says it's rarely life-threatening, but can hit hard.

MayaGreat. Love that for us.

DavidAnd it's spreading. Matthew Keck at WLKY reported- Norton Kentucky's now seeing cases too. Norton health officials put out a warning.

MayaSo it's not just a Midwest thing anymore.

DavidUsually contaminated produce, berries, herbs, that kind of thing.

DavidSpeaking of outbreaks, New York City's got its own. ABC7 New York's covering a Legionnaires cluster on the Upper East Side.

MayaHow many cases?

DavidThirty six so far," abc seven reported. Officials are testing cooling towers and say they'll release addresses of any building that comes back positive.

MayaThat's unsettling, honestly. You just don't know which building!

DavidRight. It spreads through water vapor, not person to person, so it's about finding the source.

MayaSmall mercy. So there's a bigger, slower one too, right?

DavidYeah. The Washington Post covered a new World Health Organization report. report: Global cancer cases are set to climb sharply over the next few decades.

MayaWait, why now, though? Are we just catching more of it?

DavidPartly. Aging populations, diet, environmental exposure. The WHO also flagged health care gaps as a driver, not just detection.

MayaSo it's not one clean cause.

DavidNo single one. Honestly, the inequity piece stuck with me. It's hitting places with less access to treatment the hardest.
