Just a few hours before Ausar Thompson signed his new deal, perfect timing indeed, Robbie and Wes hopped on to vent some frustrations about the coverage of Jalen Duren's negotiations. The amazingly frustrating prevalence of agent-speak being the primary offender. Then, the guys take a quick trip down memory lane before playing a game of over/under. After a summer of crazy moves and unexpected turns across the NBA, the Pistons generally played it cool. But how do they stack up? The guys go spot by spot to rank the Eastern Conference, finding out where a lack of change has been misconstrued as a lack of improvement, or if the angst is legit! They also have a pity party for Clippers fans and their young players, and break down why Amen Thompson’s deal has no impact on Ausar Thompson’s potential deal. Hey, who said that? And about who!? The guys are joined by Harry and Mickey from the Order of the Blazing Horse Podcast, and Robbie has a brand new game (that we may have stolen from our guests) for the group to play. It’s Who he talkin’ ‘bout? DBB Edition. In a fun bit of trivia, Robbie reads off comments from our own DBB comment section, and Wes, Harry and Mickey have to guess who it was said about. As well, the foursome discusses how late might be too late for Jalen Duren’s next contract, their review of Trajan Langdon’s tenure so far in Detroit, and break down some highlights of the 2027-28 schedule. They also discuss which player’s offensive improvement would be most impactful, and whose is the most unlikely. We’ve got you covered for all this and more in this week’s episode! The guys bring you a new episode with Robbie Bettelon as he takes the reigns as a his first episode as co-host with Wes. They discuss the end of Summer League and give their final thoughts on Ebuka Okorie and Chaz Lanier. There aren't many updates surrounding Jalen Duren's contract saga, but they give their thoughts on why Pistons fans shouldn't fear Duren taking the qualifying offer. They end the podcast with a game of Guess the Rotation as they predict the depth chart for next season. We've got you covered for all this and more in this week's episode! The guys bring you a truly bittersweet episode this week as Blake graciously steps aside from his co-hosting position to make way for Robbie Bettelon to take over the mantle and carry the baton. Blake has been with us all through 18 wins, terrible lottery luck, the incredible return to competitive Pistons basketball and every single step and misstep along the way. Wes and Blake open the show reminiscing about it all, and telling some of the behind-the-scenes that led to Blake joining The Pindown and now Robbie taking over. Of course, this is not goodbye; you’ll hear Blake again. But even so, if you have any happy memories of The Pindown so far through 134 joyous episodes together, please share with us in the comments. Let’s give Blake one heck of a fond farewell! In Pistons news, we have three more games from Ebuka Okorie. And while those games may have been inefficient, the guys break down why it would be smart to pump the brakes on any new Okorie skepticism (though if you were skeptical before the draft, by all means, remain so). They also look at the strong performance from Chaz Lanier, what to make of Isaac Jones, and if any of the other summer leaguers could push for a two-way contract. The guys also take a look at the unfortunate tale of restricted free agency, address some of the ball-handling concerns, and wonder what it might take for Ausar Thompson to make an All-Star team. The Pistons have played basketball again! It may have been Summer League basketball, but it’s Pistons basketball nonetheless! Robbie Bettelon joins Wes to break down the returns from game one in Vegas. They dive into Okorie’s impressive debut and what was so impressive about the way he went about that game. They also explore the play of Isaac Jones, Chaz Lanier, and the other rookie, Ugonna Onyenso. After that, the two break down why Jalen Duren is not likely to play on his qualifying offer, how strong the Pistons roster is after a, perhaps, underwhelming free agency period and even a few way-too-early hot takes for the season to come. Well, there have certainly been moves! From trading, essentially, Isaiah Stewart for the rights to add Ebuka Okorie to the signing of John Collins, The Pindown is here to break it all down step by step. Robbie Bettelon joins the show to first dive into what he likes about Ebuka Okorie in the D, then he and Wes jump right into the signings of Kevin Huerter, the trade for Isaiah Joe, what the team has lost, and even some recent rumors surrounding the Pistons. While trade and free agent rumors flying around, its almost hard to remember that the Pistons just added two exciting young players to this roster. But Wes and Blake somehow managed, and so they brought in NBA draft expert Tyler Metcalf from No Ceilings NBA to do a deep dive into the two newest members of the Detroit Pistons. Tyler gives his scout on Ebuka Okorie and Ugonna Onyenso, exploring exactly how each might fit in. Can Okorie play next to Cade? How Concerned should you be about his low percentages at the rim? What about Onyenso, can he step in and block some shots right away? And, maybe most interestingly of all, can Okorie get some buckets on day one for the Pistons? They cover all this AND a few of the latest news and rumors. We’ve got you covered for all this and more in this week’s episode! If you were unaware that the Draft is this upcoming Tuesday, you aren’t alone. Wes is just as shocked! With the playoffs ending for the Pistons early in June, the NBA draft really seems to have snuck up on us with all the rumors and excitement surrounding potential free agents and trade targets for the Pistons to improve on last season’s 60-win pace. But, what about the draft? Sitting at pick #21, the Pistons should have a few very good, young players available for them to choose from. The guys brought in draft expert Stephen Gillaspie from No Ceilings NBA to break down all the potential players who could and should excite Pistons fans come Tuesday evening. Stephen breaks down all of Ebuka Okorie, Joshua Jefferson, Cameron Carr, Karim Lopez, Yaxel Lendeborg and more in this NBA draft deep dive! Last week, Wes and Blake broke down what a quiet, maybe even boring offseason in Detroit could look like. This week, it's all about the firework show. Kawhi Leonard, Trey Murphy... Cason Wallace? The guys go through it all. Then they catch back up on a few great voicemail questions focused on Ron Holland, Ausar Thompson and even our level of concern after the playoffs. Now well into Detroit's offseason, The Pindown takes the week to dive deep into what the summer ahead could look like if the Pistons don't make a big splash. Blake and Wes each prepared a mock offseason to help fill Detroit's needs in different ways. Plus, they look at which of the Pistons' free agents could return and if so, what a new contract might look like. We’ve got you covered for all this and more in this week’s episode! So the Pistons really laid an egg at home in Detroit in game 7 vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. But, honestly, that shouldn’t take away from what was a fantastic season this year. Wes and Blake took some time to digest that loss, then went to the “studio” before the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 to provide a few takeaways and reactions from that game 7 loss, yes, but more so to look ahead at what could be an absolutely fascinating offseason. What will or should Jalen Duren be paid in his new deal? Where will the Ausar Thompson contract negotiations go? What sort of player should the Pistons be targeting at the top of their list this offseason? And, perhaps more interestingly, what sort of challenges will a big-3 of Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren present? We’ve got you covered for all this and more in this week’s episode! With the Pistons and Cavaliers' Eastern Conference semifinals series even at two games apiece, Detroit Bad Boys managing editor Sean Corp joins the show to get a lay of the land. Blake, Wes and Sean evaluate what went wrong as the series shifted to Cleveland and what needs to change for the Pistons to bounce back. Plus, a look at how to Detroit can minimize its current roster flaws and cover any holes ahead of Game 5. We’ve got you covered for all this and more in this week’s episode! The Pistons have, frankly, looked like the better team through two games in this Eastern Conference Semi-Finals series against the Cavaliers. Wes jumps on to discuss exactly that. In fact, he breaks down why Pistons fans were a bit more justified in focusing on their team underperforming early in Round One than Cavs fans are in having similar discussions so far in Round Two. He also dives into the great performances of Cade Cunningham, Daniss Jenkins and Tobias Harris, explores why Jalen Duren should continue to be featured offensively, and why game three is such an important opportunity for the Pistons to truly take control of this series. Somehow, someway, the Pistons clawed their way back from a 3-1 series deficit to win in 7 games. They scrapped their way to a historic second-half comeback in Game 6. This team just won’t roll over, we saw that for 82 games, now we’ve seen it in the playoffs. Wes and Blake come to you just before the beginning of the Second Round of the NBA playoffs to react to the extraordinary Round 1 victory, giving specific props to the superstar that is Cade Cunningham, the leadership of Tobias Harris, and the mind of strategies from JB Bickerstaff. They then turn to the upcoming series against the Cavaliers. Do the Pistons have any advantages? Are the Cavs able to employ the same defensive strategy that the Magic did? And, ultimately, what both teams will need to do to secure a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals. We’ve got you covered for all this and more in this week’s episode!
