It's challenging to live in this crazy modern world, The Wild Sovereign Soul Show is what we know will help. The show is a top 1.5% globally ranked podcast, that's been evolving since 2014, with over 500 episodes and counting - prepare to be inspired, guided, and activated by deep, soul-stirring explorations. Wild Sovereign Soul helps soul seekers find their way home in this crazy modern world, released from the cycles of overwhelm, loneliness, and endless self-improvement, to remember who they truly are, finally set free to live a life of deep meaning, embodied ease, and love. Our people are the divergent ones (neurodivergent or otherwise), in short, those who are unwilling or unable to conform to the status quo. You will know yourself to be a divergent one if you've thought things like: "This can't be all there is…" "There has to be another way…" "I can't be the only person who is seeing what I see…" Divergent ones are "the others" as Timothy Leary so evocatively described people like us. The heart of the show is simple… It's for those of us who feel something essential is being lost over time: the relationship with the body and land, inner authority and agency, and a sense of being guided from within rather than shaped by cultural conditioning, external pressure, and fear. And so these conversations, explorations, and transmissions are here to guide you to reclaim your wildness, actualise your sovereignty, and awaken your soul. Each month, our co-founders Lian and Jonathan sit down to speak into the themes of the modern world as they are actually living them, sharing what they're noticing in their own lives and work with clients and students, alongside questions from the team and listeners. Once a month, Lian hosts a live solo episode, The All The Everything Show, which flows more like a workshop or master class than a broadcast, going deep on a single theme through science, spirituality, and story, with space for real-time engagement and reflection. Alongside this, the show welcomes carefully chosen guests, including remarkable thinkers, wisdom keepers, visionaries, and healers, whose work aligns with the Wild Sovereign Soul path and brings additional perspective and depth. Since 2014, we have amassed a rich cornucopia of hundreds of episodes weaving ancient ways into modern days, drawing from animism and shamanism, embodiment, rewilding, mythopoetic and archetypal work, shadow work, astrology, non-dual spirituality, plant medicine, and more, always grounded in lived experience. Together, these conversations offer grounded insight, orientation and inspiration for being wild, sovereign, and soul-led in a culture that often pulls us away from what truly matters. Each episode is also an invitation to go deeper in UNIO, the living home of the Wild Sovereign Soul path, where this work is practised together in community. Listen now, and join your kin for the conversation your soul has been longing for. With our love and blessings, Lian & Jonathan

Stephen Jenkinson, creator of the Orphan Wisdom School and grief literacy advocate, explains what it's like to turn a lifetime of teaching about death toward his own Parkinson's diagnosis, and what he's found there that has broken open, humbled, and moved him. Stephen Jenkinson, MTS, MSW, has taught internationally and is the creator of the Orphan Wisdom School, co-founded with his wife Nathalie Roy in 2010. The School convened semi-annually in Ontario, and in the Gulf Islands, Canada and in Wales and Iceland. He has Master’s degrees from Harvard University (Theology) and the University of Toronto (Social Work). Apprenticed to a master storyteller when a young man, he worked extensively with dying people and their families, is former programme director in a major Canadian hospital, and former assistant professor in a prominent Canadian medical school. He is also a sculptor and traditional canoe builder whose house won a Governor General’s Award for architecture. Since co-founding the Nights of Grief and Mystery with singer/songwriter Gregory Hoskins in 2015, he has toured this musical/ tent show revival/ storytelling/ ceremony of a show across North America, U.K. and Europe, Australia and New Zealand. He is the author of Trembling, Still: The Awful Clarity of a Mind in Eclipse (2026) and numerous other books (for a full list of his books & music see the show notes linked below). Stephen Jenkinson is also the subject of the feature length documentary film Griefwalker (2008, dir. Tim Wilson), a portrait of his work with dying people. Lost Nation Road (2019, dir. Ian Mackenzie), and Murmurings of the Land (2025, dir. Mattias Olsson). In this episode, Lian and Stephen talk about what it's like to have spent decades helping other people meet their dying, and then have to meet your own diagnosis. That question runs under everything they cover, from the childhood illness he now recognises as an early imprint, to the raku cup he broke and had mended with gold (Photo in show notes, link below). They get into the word anesthetic, and how splitting it open changed how he understood addiction and beauty both, why he pushes back on the word joy, and what it means to recognise an ending while you're still inside it, rather than only afterwards, once it's already gone. Listen if dying feels like something that will just happen to you one day, and perhaps something you'd rather not think or talk about, than something you're consciously living into. If you've ever wondered why your soul can feel so hard to hear, even when you're trying everything you know, here's what Jonathan says is really in the way, and three ways through it. In this video, Jonathan goes into why so many of us end up guided by something other than our own soul, the false self, old wounds, the conditioning of a fast, noisy modern world, and what that costs us over a lifetime. He looks at why the soul so rarely shouts to be heard, and why most people go their whole life mistaking its whisper for silence. He moves through the three primordial strands of the Wild Sovereign Soul path, wildness, sovereignty, and soul, and offers one simple, aligned action from each, small enough to start today, real enough to shift how clearly you can hear yourself. Watch if you sense there's something important underneath the busyness of your life that you haven't had the space to properly hear. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Lian and NDE survivor Landon Dennis explore what his near death experience showed him that changed the course of his life, and what he learned about the power of prayer in particular: that it can arrive as literal beams of light, strong enough to drive away the dark presences he'd experienced since childhood. Landon lives in St. George, Utah, works as a peer support specialist, and has spent recent years sharing his near death experience across podcasts and his own YouTube channel. In this episode, Lian and Landon focus on what his NDE revealed about the power of prayer, from the beams of light he saw driving dark shapes away from him, to the moment he questioned two beings about whether prayer meant anything at all and was shown proof rather than given an answer. Along the way he describes arriving in a field of grass that seemed to glow with its own kind of love, and meeting his grandfather and niece as lights who still gave him the full weight of a hug and the words he needed to hear. The conversation returns to a night behind a dumpster that his NDE later showed him differently: the dark shapes he'd felt around him that night, and what they turned out to be once prayer arrived as light and drove them off. Listen if you've ever prayed and doubted it was doing anything, kept praying for someone who seems unreachable, or wondered what happens to the people you've lost. #NDE #prayer #powerofprayer #question #love #ancestors #afterlife #light #dark #emotion #fearofdeath #fearoflife #miracle #neardeathexperience We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. If you’ve ever turned down a job, an opportunity, or a date you truly wanted, here’s what’s really driving that “no”, and what it takes to trust yourself with a “yes” again. In this video, Lian looks at why rejection can feel far more dangerous to some people than others, especially in ADHD and autistic minds, where this is often described as “rejection sensitive dysphoria”. She looks at the biological piece, differences in how the brain regulates emotion and filters threat, the genetic thread that runs alongside ADHD and autism, and the lived history of being misunderstood or criticised that can train a nervous system to expect rejection even when nothing dangerous is actually happening. She moves into what that fear costs over time, the jobs untaken, the people never asked, years spent grieving what could have been, and what it actually takes to build real evidence in the body that rejection is survivable, one small “yes” at a time. Watch if you’ve ever talked yourself out of a job, a date, or an opportunity, right before anyone else could turn you down first. #fear #rejection #soulsode #ADHD #autisticminds #rejectionsensitivedysphoria #emotions #nervoussystem #sovereign #body #brain We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Wild Sovereign Soul co-founder and soul guide, Lian Brook-Tyler, has spent over a decade studying beauty as a soul path rather than a surface concern... she explains why beauty deserves the same conscious attention we already give relationships and money, and what can happen once we stop pretending it doesn't already command our attention. This episode is Lian’s All The Everything show… her solo space where she dives deeply into a theme that is alive for her, which, if you know her, could be literally anything - explored through the lenses of science, spirituality and story - hence the name of the show! It is created for those who feel called toward a soulful life shaped by meaning, depth, truth, and love… for those who feel unsatisfied with quick answers or surface level takes. This is a rich rabbit hole that Lian journeys through alongside you. She speaks from her own lived experience and unfolding process… while inviting you into your own as you listen. The LIVE making of All The Everything is recorded live on YouTube… to join Lian for the next one: Make sure you’re subscribed to our YouTube channel, subscribed to our Moonly News email list and/or are a member of our Facebook group and we’ll let you know when the next one is happening. In this episode, Lian explores beauty not as something skin deep, but as a spiritual practice, tracing it from the evolutionary science of adornment through myth, history and her own teenage attempt to reconstruct herself in the image of Marilyn Monroe. She looks at the handicap principle behind why humans adorn themselves at all, research showing how self-surveillance breeds body shame, and what myths can show us. She brings in the Jungian analyst James Hollis on making our projections conscious, the psychologist James Hillman's case that recovering our sense of beauty is how we recover our lost soul, and her own Beauty Archetype work exploring the Lover and the shadows of chasing beauty and abandoning it. She closes by mapping Venus, the Ascendant and Chiron in the birth chart, asking what your own placements might reveal about your particular path with beauty. Listen if you either chase beauty for approval or dismiss it, and are wondering if there could be something deeper beyond both. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. If you keep saying "yes" when your whole body is screaming "no", here's what's actually driving that, and what it takes to change it. In this episode, Lian Brook-Tyler, goes back to where the "good girl" first learned her trade, the moments in childhood, somewhere around four, five, six years old, when a small child worked out that a "yes" could keep the peace, keep the love coming, keep a parent or teacher from turning cold. Lian looks at why that pattern stops feeling like a strategy and starts feeling like personality, and why the body carries it long after the mind knows the danger has passed. Lian moves into why logic never wins the argument with her, why forcing, reasoning, or shaming that part rarely works, and what it actually takes, a slow build of inner authority, someone steadier for her to finally hand the reins to, and what it looks like to speak a "no" when that's the truer answer. Listen if you've ever felt a real "no" rising in you, in a meeting, in a relationship, at the dinner table, and felt your throat tighten or your words soften before they leave your mouth. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Let’s carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why the "good girl" was built to keep you safe rather than obedient, and why that distinction matters How the body keeps running old calculations long after the literal danger has passed What it actually takes to become someone she trusts enough to hand the reins to, and how that lets a true "no" get spoken Resources and stuff that we spoke about: Join UNIO, The Community for Wild Sovereign Souls https://www.unioacademy.com/ : This is for the old souls in this new world… Discover your kin & unite with your soul’s calling to truly live your myth. Fermentation expert and author Kirsten K. Shockey joins Lian to explore what we lose when we stop fermenting our own food, why choosing inconvenience is becoming a countercultural act, and what microbes might be running more of the show than we think Kirsten K. Shockey is a mother and grandmother who loves to plant trees and rescue beavers. When she isn’t playing or helping people to make, enjoy and connect with their food she can be found writing about life and fermentation at fermentingchange.substack from her home in the mountains of southern Oregon. Kirsten is the author of award-winning Homebrewed Vinegar, coauthor, with her husband, Christopher Shockey, of award-winning The Big Book of Cidermaking; award-winning Miso, Tempeh, Natto & Other Tasty Ferments; Fiery Ferments; and the best-selling Fermented Vegetables and Fermented Vegetables second edition. She is co-founder of The Fermentation School a women-owned and women-led benefits corporation supporting the voices of independent educators to empower learning and build culture where you can find her online courses. In this episode, Lian and Kirsten look at ‘friction maxing’, and why so many people are finding themselves drawn back to slower, harder, more hands-on ways of doing things, and what fermentation has to do with it. They talk about what it means to choose inconvenience, how the microbes we co-evolved with for millions of years are still shaping our cravings, our gut, our moods, and possibly even more, and what gets lost when we hand all of that over to a factory and call it progress. The conversation moves into the fear that stops most people before they even start, the grief of skills that stopped being passed down, and what Kirsten has noticed about what happens to people once they have something alive and bubbling on their counter, how quickly it stops feeling like a hobby and starts feeling like something precious that they didn't know they were missing in their lives. Listen if you keep finding yourself drawn to slower, older, more hands-on ways of doing things and you're not sure how to make that happen in your busy life, or if you already ferment and have noticed it feels like more than just a hobby, and are wondering what that could mean. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why the question fermentation folk keep coming back to is: who domesticated whom, us or the microbes? Lian is joined by Jason Grechanik, a master tabaquero with nearly a decade of Amazonian immersion and over a thousand people guided through plant ceremony, to explore what it looks like to do a plant dieta with the trees of Celtic and Northern European tradition, why these trees are subtler to work with than Amazonian plants, and what people have healed through that extended relationship. Jason Grechanik trained in the Mamankunawa tradition under curandero Don Ernesto Garcia Torres. He spent many years working at the renowned Shipibo healing center Temple of the Way of Light in Peru. He is the host of The Universe Within Podcast (180+ episodes, 20,000+ monthly listeners) and co-founder of the Nicotiana Rustica Project, a living practice that bridges Amazonian sacred tobacco traditions with Celtic tree wisdom. His background spans Ashtanga yoga, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, and herbalism. In this episode, Lian and Jason explore what a Celtic tree dieta looks like in practice, from the diagnosis and the period of isolation, to the role of tobacco as amplifier, to the moment towards the end when the dieter finally learns the name of the tree they have been working with. They look at why these trees are subtle to receive, what opens a person enough to hear them, and how the physical medicine of a tree and its emotional and spiritual medicine turn out to be expressions of the same thing. Jason walks through the willow in some depth, its connection to grief, to water, to the lungs, to the underworld, and to what can begin to shift in a person when they spend extended time in relationship with it. From there the conversation opens into what people have healed through this work, from Lyme disease and ovarian cysts to heartbreak and stagnation, and into Jason's sense of what these trees are ultimately offering, which is perhaps a felt sense of being at home in oneself, the way an oak or a willow simply is. Listen if you've always felt drawn to a particular tree and wondered whether that pull means something, or if you've done plant medicine work before and found yourself curious about what's available closer to home. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why the Celtic trees are worked with through the medium of tobacco, and what that amplification makes possible that the tree alone might not How the physical properties of a tree, what it grows near, how it moves, what it heals in the body, are a map of its emotional and spiritual medicine What happens in a dieta when the guide doesn't tell the dieter the name of the tree until the very end, and why that changes what gets received Resources and stuff that we spoke about: Visit Jason’s website https://jasongrechanik.com/ Nicotiana Rustica Project http://nicotianarustica.org/ The Universe Within Podcast https://jasongrechanik.com/podcast Jason’s Instagram https://www.instagram.com/jasongrechanik/ Join UNIO, The Community for Wild Sovereign Souls https://www.unioacademy.com/: This is for the old souls in this new world… Discover your kin & unite with your soul’s calling to truly live your myth. Lian and psycho-spiritual researcher Bernhard Guenther explore spiritual warfare, what unseen forces actually are, how they operate through human consciousness, why most people have no map for recognising them, and what it takes to begin developing one. Bernhard Guenther is a psycho-spiritual researcher, teacher, and guide whose work explores the deeper architecture of reality and the evolutionary challenges humanity faces during this Time of Transition. Drawing on over two decades of study, practice, and inner work, he integrates esoteric wisdom, depth psychology, trauma healing, shadow integration, and a clear understanding of the spiritual and hyperdimensional forces that influence human consciousness. He is the founder of Piercing the Veil of Reality and co-host of The Cosmic Matrix podcast with his wife, Laura Matsue Guenther. Through online courses, mentoring, articles, podcasts, and retreats, he helps sincere seekers cultivate discernment, embody their true nature, and align with their deeper purpose in a time of profound change. In this episode, Lian and Bernhard explore spiritual warfare, what Bernhard calls the hyperdimensional matrix, the unseen forces and beings that influence human thought, desire, and perception, often without our awareness or consent. Drawing on Rudolf Steiner (Austrian esotericist and founder of Anthroposophy, a tradition of spiritual science), Sri Aurobindo (Indian sage and philosopher of Integral Yoga), and over two decades of direct experience, Bernhard maps the planes of creation through which these forces operate, how they target seekers specifically, and why expanding consciousness brings more contact with them rather than less. The conversation moves into how spiritual warfare most commonly operates, not through dramatic possession but through subtle appeal to ego, blind spots, and the desire to feel special or already awake, how these forces can masquerade as divine guidance, and why the capacity to differentiate between what is yours and what isn't is more important than discernment alone. Listen if you've ever gone down a rabbit hole of conspiracy or spiritual content and come out feeling more paranoid and less yourself, or if you keep getting derailed by thoughts and patterns you can't quite claim as your own. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why these forces target seekers more than people who aren't doing any inner work, and what that contact tends to look like How to tell the difference between a wounded inner part that needs integrating and something that has genuinely come in from outside What Bernhard means by inner differentiation, and why it goes further than discernment alone Resources and stuff that we spoke about: Visit Bernhard’s website https://veilofreality.com/ Mastering spiritual warfare https://www.masteringspiritualwarfare.com/ Join UNIO, The Community for Wild Sovereign Souls https://www.unioacademy.com/ : This is for the old souls in this new world… Discover your kin & unite with your soul’s calling to truly live your myth. Lian and Jason Grechanik, a master tabaquero with nearly a decade of Amazonian immersion and over a thousand people guided through plant ceremony, explore what a plant dieta actually is, why the Shipibo healers he trained with said the dieta is what heals, and what happens in the body, mind, and dream space when someone enters that extended relationship with a single plant. In this episode, Lian and Jason explore what a plant dieta actually is and what it does, how weeks or months of isolation, fasting, silence, and direct relationship with a single plant can take us to places that a single ceremony cannot reach, and why the Shipibo healers Jason trained with were so insistent that without the dieta, the plant never really heals. They look at how Jason came to the Amazon through a spiritual crisis in New York, physically healthy by every measure and yet feeling, as he describes it, like he was dying, and what that particular kind of suffering could be pointing toward. From there the conversation moves into how the plants teach, not through instruction or commandment but through potentiality, through dream and experience and showing rather than telling, and into the Tubu prophecy Jason carries from his teacher, the time of the Children of the New Dawn, and what it says about why humans have always suffered and what the plants have offered in response. Listen if you've spent years working with plant medicine and still feel like you're circling the outside of something or if you sense that the medicine traditions of your own land are calling you but you don't know how to find them. Caroline Carey, soul cartographer, writer and author of The Neurodivergent Soul, joins Lian to explore what a late diagnosis actually gives you when you've already spent decades mapping your own soul, how neurodivergent wiring shapes a life's calling, and what it means to apprentice to your own story rather than to any framework imposed from outside. Drawing on intuitive, mindfulness, creativity and shamanic traditions, as well as her own original maps and frameworks, Caroline supports people in reconnecting with their inner wisdom, understanding their life patterns, and uncovering a deeper sense of purpose. Her work explores where soul meets story, helping others navigate life's transitions with greater authenticity, self-compassion, and meaning. Caroline is an advocate for neurodivergent people, a mother and a grandmother; she lives in Hastings, East Sussex. Her latest book is called The Neurodivergent Soul published 2026. Caroline Carey has spent over thirty years guiding people, mostly women in the second half of life, through journeys of self-discovery using story, movement, shamanic tradition, and her own original frameworks. Her latest book is The Neurodivergent Soul, published in 2026. In this episode, Lian and Caroline begin in childhood, with a nun who told a young Caroline that animals don't have souls, a conviction she spent the next six decades disproving, and a mare dying in an Irish field whose energy passed through her so powerfully it nearly knocked her over. These early moments seeded everything: the soul cartography, the archetypal maps, the three decades of tracking the patterns a life leaves behind. From there the conversation moves into what it actually means to discover you're autistic in your sixties, after the work is already built, the path already walked. Caroline describes her diagnosis as confirmation rather than revelation, something that made sense of a lifetime of sensory needs, particular ways of moving through the world, and a quality of perception she'd always known was different, without fundamentally changing who she already knew herself to be. What unfolds from there is a conversation both Lian and Caroline are inside as much as observing: two neurodivergent women who found their way to soul work through that very wiring, exploring what the autistic mind perceives that others don't, why neurodivergent people so often end up on shamanic and spiritual paths, and whether the diagnosis deepens the soul work or whether the soul work was already doing that long before it had a name. They also get into masking, not as damage but as a creative act, what it was protecting, what it taught, and what it might be telling you about the situations you were masking for rather than the mask itself. Listen if you're neurodivergent and have ever sensed or wondered whether the way your mind works and the work your soul is here to do are connected. Wild Sovereign Soul co-founder and soul guide, Lian Brook-Tyler, explores the myth of Chiron the wounded healer in full, from conception to stars, reframing it as an awakening arc rather than a healing one, and examining what we miss when we stop the story too soon. In this episode, Lian returns to Chiron, the wounded healer, not to retread familiar ground but to follow the myth all the way to its end, the cave, the exchange with Prometheus, the death, the stars, the parts that almost never get told. She traces the full arc from Chiron's conception through his years of genuine mastery and medicine, into the collapse that the second wound brings, and through to what von Franz calls the hopeless conflict, the precise moment the ego runs out of road and something else becomes possible. She draws on the work of Ken Wilber, whose pre/trans fallacy names something she has lived personally, the difference between a genuine spiritual opening and the long harder work of becoming somebody before you can genuinely become nobody, and why so much of contemporary spirituality mistakes one for the other. Listen if you have done years of real inner work and quietly wonder whether the identity you have built around your healing has itself become the thing you are now living around rather than through. #chiron #healing #woundedhealer #medicine #wound #kenwilber #spiritual We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Lian and hunter and landscape architect, Christie Green, explore what sixteen years of hunting has taught Christie about body time, how women's bodies carry a different relationship to time and rhythm than ‘clock culture’ allows, and what gets restored when a woman stops measuring herself by external standards. Christie Green is the author of MOONIGHT ELK: One Woman’s Hunt for Food and Freedom published by The University of New Mexico Press (UNMP) in 2024. Her forthcoming book, SALMON DREAMING: Coming Home to Alaska will be released by UNMP in 2026 and her third, THE NEW MERIDIAN: Undamming the West will be released by UNMP in 2028. Christie Green resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Kenai, Alaska. Ms. Green’s platform as a land & water steward, landscape architect, local food activist, educator and hunter attracts passionate audiences. She represents a fundamental missing bridge between polarized audiences and cultural extremes. For Christies full bio see the show notes https://www.wildsovereignsoul.com/podcast/552. In this episode, Lian and Christie explore what Christie calls body time, the way the animals she hunts have gradually rewired her relationship to rhythm, to her own flesh, and to what she actually trusts as real. Over sixteen years of hunting across New Mexico and Alaska, Christie has found herself orienting less and less by the clock and more by tide, moon, darkness, and what her body is asking for. The conversation moves through what that shift has cost, what it has returned, and the specific way the bodies of animals, elk, deer, turkey, salmon, have taught her things about her own body that nothing else reached. From there they look at what modern women have lost and what Christie has glimpsed on the other side of that loss, how the same culture that packages meat in sterile plastic also asks women to manage, minimise, and tidy themselves, and what becomes possible when a woman stops agreeing to that, even in small ways, a particular fabric against her skin, dreamy silk under work clothes, a candle at the end of the day. Listen if you've ever looked at the clock to decide whether you're hungry, or realised you've been running on someone else's rhythm for so long you're not sure you know what your own feels like. Lian and Three Principles teacher Dicken Bettinger explore how Sydney Banks' original message was rooted in the spiritual dimension of the mind, why that dimension kept getting lost in translation, and what it means to find peace by looking within rather than thinking your way there. Dicken Bettinger, Ed.D., received his doctorate in counseling psychology and has worked during his career as a licensed clinical psychologist. Dicken’s entire career has focused on psychological well-being. In 1986 he met Sydney Banks, who shared a profound new understanding of the human mind called the Three Principles that unifies our connection to a deeper intelligence called wisdom and our psychological nature. For his full bio see the show notes linked below. In this episode, Lian and Dicken return for a second conversation, this time looking honestly at what happened to the Three Principles teaching as it spread, why the spiritual dimension of Syd Banks' message kept getting reduced to cognitive psychology, and what gets lost when a living teaching hardens into catchphrases and community rules. Dicken shares how Syd himself understood the Three Principles not as good ideas to live by but as the most fundamental qualities of infinite life energy, the intelligence, consciousness, and creative potential from which everything arises, and how that understanding was always meant to unify the psychological and the spiritual rather than replace one with the other. Dicken explains what he noticed happening across the community over forty years, why the "do nothing" instruction became its own kind of command, how Lian's sense that individual soul was rarely spoken about connects to something Syd said consistently, and what shifts when someone stops thinking harder and starts listening for what comes through when the thinking settles Listen if you have ever drifted away from a teaching or community that once meant a great deal to you and found yourself wondering whether it was the teaching itself, or just what it became reduced to. Lian and Three Principles teacher Dicken Bettinger explore what mystics across every tradition have pointed toward for centuries, why the mind's natural state is already meditative, and how psychological suffering comes down to one root cause. In 2012 Dicken founded his private practice, 3 Principles Mentoring. He offers individual on-line mentoring, practitioner development, and advanced training programs. Dicken is the co-author of a book on the Three Principles called Coming Home: Uncovering the Foundations of Psychological Well-being and a forthcomig book, Life Can Be Easier Than You Think. For his full bio please see the shownotes linked below. In this episode, Lian and Dicken trace a thread that runs through Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and the work of Sydney Banks: that beneath the noise of a busy mind, there is a silence that has never left, and that every mystical tradition has been pointing toward the same thing, just using different language. Dicken shares how he spent years meditating four hours a day, recording dreams by flashlight, filling journals with techniques, before discovering that the meditative state he was working so hard to reach was already his natural condition, and everyone else's too. They look at what the mystics actually meant by "ecstatic," and how three piles of handwritten notes from teachers across every tradition began to self-organise into the same three movements: emptying, filling, and giving it away. From there the conversation opens into what Dicken calls the one problem of human psychological suffering, what it actually means to fall out of your head into the present moment, and why wisdom has always been understood as something that comes through us rather than from us. Listen if you find yourself thinking hard about how you feel, trying to work out what's wrong, and somehow feeling worse the more you think about it. Lian and hypnotherapist and changework facilitator James Tripp on where pattern-based change meets its ceiling, what Jungian individuation and NLP have to say to each other, and why the most resistant clients may be the ones most in need of a reconnection to soul. James Tripp is an internationally recognised authority in the fields of self development, personal mastery and generative changework. Coming from a diverse background including philosophy, music, martial arts, movement culture and NLP, James is also the developer of the Hypnosis Without Trance approach to hypnotic facilitation as well as author of the critically acclaimed book of the same title. In his one-to-one work, James works with individuals looking to become better adapted in consistently creating outcomes they value and living lives they love. Since turning professional in 2007 his clients have included artists, filmmakers, entrepreneurs and business creators, c-suite executives, actors and performers, frontline services operatives, medical doctors, writers, special forces operatives and military veterans. In this episode, Lian and James begin with "doomer optimism," a genuine belief that radical change is not only inevitable but potentially the very thing that makes us more alive and more human. They look at what it costs people to build a life around patterns that are functional in the world but out of resonance with who they truly are, and why that gap, which might show up as numbness, burnout, or a vague sense that something's missing, tends to compound under pressure. From there the conversation moves into territory that doesn’t always make it into change-work: soul, and what it takes to bring that word into a room full of police officers without losing them, and why, in James’ experience, even the most practical people tend to respond when someone gives them permission to look in that direction. There's something here about nourishment rather than healing, about arcs of becoming rather than things to fix, and about where ancient ways of knowing, shamanism, Taoism, the Kabbalah, still carry genuine usefulness in a world that has largely forgotten them. Listen if you've been doing this work, in yourself or with others, long enough to sense that changing our patterns is only part of the story. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. What you’ll learn from this episode: - Why changing patterns can take you a long way but still leave you feeling like the nut has been removed from the shell - How soul connection shows up differently depending on the room you're in, and why James rarely uses that language the same way twice - What Jung's private admission near the end of his life, that he had failed at his principal task, reveals about how long it takes for a seed to become a fruit tree Resources and stuff that we spoke about: - Visit James’s website (https://www.jamestripp.co.uk/). - James’s Linktree (https://linktr.ee/jamestripp) - Join UNIO, The Community for Wild Sovereign Souls: (https://www.unioacademy.com/) This is for the old souls in this new world… Discover your kin & unite with your soul’s calling to truly live your myth. Lian and local food activist and hunter, Christie Green, describes how 16 years of solo hunting in New Mexico and Alaska changed her relationship to food, death, her own animal body, and what it means to live in right relationship with the land. Christie is the author of MOONIGHT ELK: One Woman’s Hunt for Food and Freedom published by The University of New Mexico Press (UNMP)2024. Her forthcoming book, SALMON DREAMING: Coming Home to Alaska will be released by UNMP in 2026 and her third book, THE NEW MERIDIAN: Undamming the West will be released by UNMP in 2028. Residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Kenai, Alaska, and is a land and water steward, landscape architect, local food activist, educator and hunter. With an educational background in US History from UC Berkeley and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of New Mexico, Green found and fashioned a profession that reflected her personal background and passion: connecting people and place. Food has since been the conduit for communion in Green’s work. For Christies full bio see the show notes https://www.wildsovereignsoul.com/podcast/548. In this episode, Lian and Christie explore what happened the first time Christie chose to take a life in the field, how that moment cracked something open that decades of growing food, farming, and working the land hadn't quite reached, and how hunting alone became the condition under which she could finally hear herself. They move through the tension of paradox that lives inside the act of killing something you love and revere, how the architecture of an elk's body her own bodily self-criticism, and what it has meant to carry the moon's rhythm rather than the clock's into her time on the land. The conversation touches on what the animals have taught Christie, and on how she has come to understand hunting not as something she does but as something that is still changing who she is. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why the moment of choosing to take a life bore more resemblance to giving birth than to anything Christie had anticipated, and what that told her about the body's intelligence How working inside the bodies of animals shifted something in Christie's relationship to her own flesh, its beauty, its genius, its refusal to be tidy What the moon, the dream life, and hunting alone have in common for Christie, and why surrendering to that rhythm has felt, over time, more true than pushing through ever did Resources and stuff spoken about: Visit Christie’s website https://www.christiegreen.net/. Wild Sovereign Soul co-founder and soul guide, Lian Brook-Tyler, explains what death has always been trying to teach us about the art of really living, drawing on three of her own encounters with death, including fifteen years of chronic pain and panic attacks, that ultimately changed everything. This episode is Lian’s All The Everything show… her solo space where she dives deeply into a theme that is alive for her, which, if you know her, could be literally anything - explored through the lenses of science, spirituality and story - hence the name of the show! In this episode, Lian shares the story of her own three encounters with death, a violent attack in her youth that left her braced against life for fifteen years, the sudden and complicated death of her father, and a shamanic burial initiation. She weaves through the science of near-death experiences, including findings from Dr. Pim van Lommel's eight-year longitudinal study and Raymond Moody's landmark research, which found that across cultures, ages, and belief systems, only two things consistently emerged as what truly mattered. She also looks honestly at what modern culture has done by removing death from daily life, how a death-denying world dismantles genuine choice, and why sovereign living may not be possible until we stop trying to pretend we have more time than we do. She closes with a simple daily practice, a few minutes each morning to ask what this day would mean if it were the last ordinary one. Listen if you find yourself putting something important off until conditions feel more right, or if you know what your life is calling for but keep finding reasons not to move toward it yet. Ian is a mythosomatic guide & filmmaker, as well as the founder of The Mythic Masculine, a platform dedicated to realigning masculinity with thriving life. For over 15 years, he has been tracking the global emergence of imaginal culture. From the desert of Burning Man to the heart of Occupy Wall St, he has sought and amplified the voices of visionaries, artists and activists who have been working toward planetary system change. He is the co-director of The Village of Lovers as well as Lost Nation Road, Amplify Her, and Sacred Economics. In this episode, Lian and Ian start with Eros itself, not as a synonym for sex but as the life force that moves through creativity, land, encounter, and expression of any kind, and what it means when a man's only access to that energy runs through a single narrow channel. They look at what the manosphere is really responding to beneath the bravado, and why so much of what looks like sexual compulsion is closer to nervous system dysregulation seeking an outlet. Ian also shares his own story, the marriage that eventually fell apart when they started exploring beyond it, the years in polyamory that followed, what he learned and what he got wrong, and where he's landed now. And then there's something he describes that happens in circle with men, when instead of the usual locker room storytelling they're asked to share a meaningful erotic experience, something that truly mattered to them, and what comes out of men when that door opens, the tenderness, the vulnerability, the stories that are nothing like what you'd expect, which, as Ian says, would probably surprise a lot of women. Listen if you're a man who's never quite had the conversation you actually wanted to have about this, or a woman who suspects there's far more going on beneath the surface than most men let on. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why so much of what looks like sexual compulsion in men is really nervous system dysregulation seeking an outlet What happens when men are given permission to share what their erotic lives have genuinely meant to them, not what they're supposed to say How the absence of the lover archetype turns a king into a tyrant, a warrior into a soldier, and a magician into a cold calculator Resources and stuff spoken about: Ian’s Website https://themythicmasculine.com/ Ian’s course The Deep Masculine https://www.themythicmasculine.com/deepmasculine Ian’s substack https://themythicmasculine.substack.com/ Ian’s upcoming men's conference https://www.themythicmasculine.com/cmc Register your interest for the upcoming Wild Sovereign Soul Pilgrimage here http://www.wildsovereignsoul.com/pilgrimage Join UNIO, The Community for Wild Sovereign Souls https://www.unioacademy.com/ : This is for the old souls in this new world… Discover your kin & unite with your soul’s calling to truly live your myth. Lian Brook-Tyler and Jonathan Wilkinson, Wild Sovereign Soul co-founders, trace how the rise of individualism severed our connection to community and spirit, what Jung's individuation actually meant before it was reduced to self-improvement, and what these times are really calling us to. Lian and Jonathan sit down together for their monthly, free-flowing conversation honouring the path of the Wild Sovereign Soul. It's challenging to live in this crazy modern world, the Wild Sovereign Soul path is what we know will help. Each month, they meet live themes from the modern world head on, weaving together what they're currently consuming and creating, how wildness, sovereignty, and soul are showing up in their own lives, and the patterns they're seeing across our students and clients. There is room for curiosity, disagreement, and humour, alongside reflections drawn from their own experiences and initiations, as well as insights from ancient wisdom traditions, astrology, Gene Keys, shamanism, and more. In this episode, Lian and Jonathan explore how individualism became the water we swim in, tracing the distance between what Jung meant by individuation and what it has been flattened into, drawing on Kabbalah, shamanism, David Deida's three stages, and Dr. Jeffrey Martin's cross-tradition research into what union actually looks like when people get far enough along any genuine path. They look at how the self-development world inherited Jung's language while losing his meaning, and how that has left many people cycling through spiritual frameworks in the same way they once cycled through self-help. From there, the conversation opens into what might be reclaimed, what the shaman's role reveals about service and the whole, and what it means that the word "individual" once meant something that could not be divided from everything around it. Listen if you have poured time, energy and money into a spiritual or personal path and sometimes find yourself wondering whether you are actually moving somewhere, or mostly just getting better at thinking about yourself. What you’ll receive from this episode: What the true cost of individualism is, not just for the individual, but for our relationship to community, spirit, and the whole Why individuation, as Jung understood it, has almost nothing to do with becoming more your separate self, and how the gap between that and how it is now used has fuelled a culture of self-obsession How almost every mystical and religious tradition, however different their language, can converge on the same destination when followed far enough What the traditional shaman's role reveals about what goes missing the moment any path of soul becomes primarily about personal development Resources and stuff Lian spoke about: Register your interest for the upcoming Wild Sovereign Soul Pilgrimage here.
