Dr Iain Bolton and Dr Seb Pillon are both taking Mounjaro. What's it really like using weight-loss injections, and what happens when you stop? In the first episode of And, Tell Me More About That , we share why we decided to try weight-loss medication, how it has affected our appetite and eating habits, the weight we've lost and the side effects we've experienced. We also look at the science behind GLP-1 medicines, including Mounjaro (tirzepatide), Ozempic and Wegovy (semaglutide). How do weight-loss jabs work? Why do they reduce hunger and 'food noise'? Who can get them on the NHS, and why is private treatment so expensive? Our experiences have been different. One of us struggled with side effects on Ozempic before switching to Mounjaro; the other found that constant thoughts about food became much easier to manage. We also discuss something that worries many people taking these medicines: the possibility of regaining weight when treatment stops. Drawing on the evidence, our own experiences as patients and what we see in UK general practice, we discuss both the promise and the limitations of these increasingly popular treatments, without pretending there's a simple answer to weight loss. We ask whether access is fair, and why prevention and lasting changes still matter. In this episode, we explore: How Mounjaro, Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications work. Our personal experiences of Mounjaro, appetite changes and 'food noise'. Side effects, eating enough, nutrition and exercise during treatment. Weight regain after stopping injections and the challenge of keeping weight off. NHS eligibility, private prescriptions, cost and buying safely. Why weight management is more complicated than willpower alone. Whether you're considering weight-loss injections, already taking them, working in healthcare or simply curious about the headlines, this is an open conversation about what these medicines can and can't do. Please note: NHS access to Mounjaro is being introduced gradually. Meeting NICE eligibility criteria does not automatically mean you can receive it through your GP, as stricter NHS England primary-care prescribing criteria apply. New episodes every Tuesday.
