She’s Got the Look From tunics and stockings to leotards, fishnets, bare feet and today’s performance wear, we’re taking a trip through the changing look of Physie . We’ll explore the fashions, hairstyles, competition tan and wonderfully questionable trends that have come and gone — including a chat with Bree from Championship TAN about how tanning has evolved. Because the Physie look has certainly changed over the years… but the attention to detail never has.
Welcome to The Physie Diaries — where we sit down with the people who make up the wonderful world of Physie and hear the stories behind the person we might think we know. Today we're talking to Bree. Bree has been part of Physie for more than 35 years, so it's fair to say she has a few Physie stories to tell. But away from the competition floor, she's also spent almost three decades professionally working with skin — and eventually those two worlds came together when she created Championship TAN. So today we're going right back to where it all started. The little Physie girl, the memories, the competitions, the tans we probably shouldn't have been putting on our skin 😂, and the journey that eventually led her to look at something Physie girls had been doing forever and think, surely we can do this better.
Big Certificates and Cut-Out Medals — All Things Champion Girl This week on Let’s Talk Physie , Emma and Jane dive into one of the biggest parts of the BJP calendar — Champion Girl . We look at how individual competition became part of Physie and how the whole competition works - spoiler it's not like an interclub. We chat about the nerves, the excitement, the number on your hip, the moment your number is called — or isn’t — and why Champion Girl can teach us so much more than where we place. We talk about the subjective side of Physie too. Sometimes you make the final. Sometimes you don’t. Sometimes the result matches how you felt you performed, and sometimes it doesn’t. The challenge is learning how to celebrate improvement, support the people around you and keep coming back. And while Champion Girl is an individual competition, no competitor gets there alone. Behind every girl or lady on the floor is a whole team of teachers, clubmates, families and supporters helping her get there. This episode is a celebration of the history, traditions, nerves, resilience and joy that make Champion Girl such a memorable part of Physie. Come for the Physie… stay for the chat.
In our very first episode of Let’s Talk Physie, we’re starting with the obvious question: what actually is Physie? We chat about how we each found BJP Physie, how Physie brought us together, why it has stayed such a big part of our lives, and why now our own children are part of the Physie world too. We also dip into a little BJP history, including its beginnings in 1892, and talk about what makes Physie so much more than just learning a syllabus — confidence, fitness, friendships, resilience, performance, community and generations of families sharing the same sport. In Take It to Class, we look at marching and why something that seems so simple is actually a brilliant foundation for posture, coordination, timing, carriage and body control. And of course, we finish with our first Physie Picks — the little tips, tricks and favourites that Physie people swear by. If you’ve been doing Physie for years, are brand new to it, or still find yourself asking, “Wait… what is Physie?”, this episode is for you. Come for the Physie… stay for the chat.
