Broadcasting from the inner sanctum of The Ultimate Picture Palace, join hosts Kit Finnie and Georgia Humphreys as they unspool a film from the current programme. This episode they’ll be talking about Jane Schoenbrun’s hotly anticipated Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma , discussing slashers, sex, and the strange loops between spectator and screen. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma follows Kris, a queer experimental filmmaker plucked from Sundance glory to helm the reboot of lurid slasher franchise Camp Miasma. Hoping to sign Billy Presley, star and final girl of the first Camp Miasma , Kris travels to the abandoned campsite from the first film, where Billy now resides as an eccentric recluse. What starts as a project pitch soon blossoms into an erotic reckoning for Kris, as the boundaries between director and star, screen and reality, fear and desire diffuse, and Kris confronts what it means to surrender yourself to the grotesque sublime of horror’s most troubling images. Soles? - Local H ‘Possum Kingdom’ from Rubberneck - Toadies Kit Finnie has been a Roundhouse Resident Artist, a Barbican Young Poet, and a member of the Apples and Snakes Writing Room. Film making and spectatorship, especially celluloid and digital projection, inform her artistic practice extensively, and she is the Lead Projectionist at the Ultimate Picture Palace, a community-owned cinema in Oxford. Poetry commissions have included the BBC Choir, Culture Mile, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the City of London and National Orchestras For All. As part of the comedy double act The Mayor and His Daughter, she wrote and performed a debut show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2025, and was named a ‘Comedy Star of Tomorrow’ by the Telegraph. Georgia Humphreys is an essayist, film writer and programmer based in Oxford. Her research interests include desire, the body, and the abject, as shaped by media and landscape. She has written for Indicator , contributing liner notes for their releases of Single White Female and La Travestie . She volunteers for and is on the programming committee of The Ultimate Picture Palace in Oxford. Winner of the 2026 Pitch to Park Circus initiative at Cinema Rediscovered, her film season Fake News, Reel News: A Modern Media Circus On Screen will be available across UK cinemas in 2027.
