Ten recordings. One a week. If they stop arriving, they didn't stop because I got bored.

Eight years ago I was at CQ-03 the night the node went down. The report on it is nine pages long and nothing in it is untrue, exactly.

The authorisation chain for that night has a hole in it where an operator identifier should be. Somebody signed off on the isolate and then took their own name back out of it. I kept the raw capture. I have been moving ever since.

I had an arrangement with a solicitor: if I went quiet for a month, he released the lot. In March he stopped answering his phone. I have stopped assuming that was a coincidence.

So this is the new arrangement, and you are it.

Tuesdays, 03:00 UTC. I get a few seconds of uplink at a time, four times a day, so a single transmission takes most of a week to push up in pieces. Everything I can prove goes out attached.

Copy it. Mirror it. Put it somewhere that isn't me. A thing that only exists in one place can be made not to exist.

Two things about how this sounds, so nobody spends a week on them.

The voice has been put through something. Of course it has. If you can undo it, write to me rather than posting it.

The rest of it is a boat and a six-second satellite window, and I am not going to apologise for the audio, because the audio is the point.

THE ARCHIVE — every file released, with the fingerprint that proves your copy is the copy:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/archive

THE CAPTURE — nine megabytes of station telemetry. Don't take my word for any of it. Read it yourself:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/MCA-CTL-0314-RAW.slice

THE STATION RECORD — locked. The first transmission opens it:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/log

THE UPLINK CHECK — signed proof I am still here, carrying the one before it. One file checks it and installs nothing. If it goes overdue, that is not me being slow:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/canary

COPIES — where else this exists, and how to hold one:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/mirrors

LISTEN: Spotify · Apple Podcasts
WATCH: youtube.com/@slip_three
FOLLOW: instagram.com/slip.three · tiktok.com/@slip.three

CONTACT — the only channel I answer, and I answer slowly:
slipthree@proton.me

Ten transmissions. The evidence is attached to each one — telemetry, station records, the raw capture. Nobody has finished it.

I'm not going to tell you where I am. I repaint the hull most years and I'd like to keep that working.

Transmission 07 of 10.

There are four families. In seven weeks of putting everything up I have never written one line to them. I wrote one once, in year three, four pages, and it never went. This week I read it out, all of it, and then I say why it never went. It is not the reason I used to give.

Then the one that will go. One page. No signature. It is on the site first so that nobody can change a word of it before it is delivered, after the tenth, by hand.

Also this week: someone who did filing for a port authority wrote in about rosters. What he says cuts against me. It is up with the rest.

THE LETTER THAT NEVER WENT:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/LETTER-UNSENT.txt

THE LETTER THAT WILL:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/LETTER-07.txt

THE ARCHIVE — every file, with the fingerprint that proves your copy is the copy:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/archive

THE STATION RECORD — locked.
Transmission 06 of 10.

People wrote to me this week. More than before. Two of them say they were there. Not that night. Around it.

The first says she worked at the storage company. She sent a photograph of the slip from my box. It came off the shelf once, in November 2021, and went back the same afternoon. Seal intact. The initials are hers.

The second did nights there the year before. He reminded me of something I used to say. It does not help me, so it is in.

I can't check either of them. I don't know who they are. Both are up, with a fingerprint, like everything else. Read the slip. Check it against the letter. Then tell me if I'm wrong.

THE SLIP:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/RJT-3318-SLIP.jpg

WHAT HE WROTE:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/WRITTEN-IN-06.txt

THE ARCHIVE — every file, with the fingerprint that proves your copy is the copy:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/archive

THE STATION RECORD — locked.
Transmission 05 of 10.

Two letters this week.

The first went out from my solicitor two weeks after that night. Preserve these records. Here is the list. Acknowledge within fourteen days. Nobody acknowledged it. Nobody refused it either. The fourteen days ran out, and then it was summer.

The second is the only letter anybody ever sent back to me. Three years later. The firm was merging and my file was going into storage. Read paragraph three. Then read paragraph four, and look at the date.

That is why there are ten of these and not forty. I did not pick the number. It is a retention policy.

THE LETTER THAT CAME BACK:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/RJT-3318-STORAGE.pdf

THE ONE THAT NOBODY ANSWERED:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/RJT-3318-PRESERVATION.pdf

THE ARCHIVE — every file, with the fingerprint that proves your copy is the copy:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/archive

THE STATION RECORD — locked.
Transmission 04 of 10.

You asked what eight years is actually like, so I told you. Splicing, welding badly, reading the surface for what is underneath it. Small places where you are useful and quiet and gone before you become a story. Six people who know a version of me, none of whom I will describe.

Then the hard part.

The night watch was four people. Three of them signed in. The fourth is a black bar on every copy of that roster that was ever filed. I have the one that was not filed — it was in a drawer, because the supervisor printed the watch list every Sunday and wrote on it in pencil, and nobody has ever built a records system that survives a man with a pencil.

I am not going to say the name. The moment I say it out loud this stops being a thing you checked and starts being a thing I told you, and those are worth different amounts.

Take the two lists. Put one on top of the other. See which name is standing on its own.

THE ROSTER — the copy that was never filed:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/episodes/art/slip-three-04.jpg

THE ARCHIVE — every file, with the fingerprint that proves your copy is the copy:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/archive

THE STATION RECORD — locked.
Transmission 03 of 10.

You found the desk. It took a lot of you about four hours, which tells me something I did not want to know.

Second capture is up. Same station, the following day, midnight to midnight, one minute sample. Forty-seven kilobytes. A whole day of a coastline is not very much data, which is exactly why it survived.

Two things nobody did with the first one.

Check the water against the sky. That night the moon was two days off new, so the range was building toward springs. If my numbers disagree with what the moon was doing, I made them up and you should stop listening.

Then run the checksums. Every record carries its own, and all fourteen pass. Then check the block.

The block does not pass.

THE SECOND CAPTURE:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/MCA-CTL-0315-TIDE.slice

THE ARCHIVE — every file, with the fingerprint that proves your copy is the copy:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/archive

THE STATION RECORD — locked.
Transmission 02 of 10.

I drink off the tarp and sleep in twenty-minute pieces. Somebody asked whether I was really out here. I am really out here.

The arrangement I had is gone. The man who held it stopped answering his phone in March. So this is the new arrangement, and you are it.

A session number is not a person. It is a desk. Do not ask me who — ask me which desk that session was opened on, at three minutes to midnight, on a night when only three people had signed in.

The door from the first transmission is still open. Same word. Read the fourth line.

THE STATION RECORD — locked.
Transmission 01 of 10.

Six seconds of uplink, four times a day. This is one of them.

Attached: MCA-CTL-0314-RAW, partial. Tide, salinity, wind, air — station CQ-03, the day either side of the collapse. It is the raw capture and not somebody's summary of it, so most of it is boring. That is the point.

Read from 0x4E1C20. Everything either side of it is tide.

One of those records was written by nobody. What sits under it is the whole reason I am doing this.

THE CAPTURE — nine megabytes, station CQ-03:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/MCA-CTL-0314-RAW.slice

THE ARCHIVE — take a copy of everything, and check it against the fingerprints:
https://st88openocean.github.io/slip-three/archive

CONTACT — use an address you don't mind burning:
slipthree@proton.me
