Welcome to the first episode of The Needle Drop In, a new bitesize podcast from SIREN Music, hosted by music supervisor Jen Moss. In each episode, we ask a guest about the songs, soundtracks and musical moments that have stuck with them on screen. From the iconic to the obscure, if it’s in a movie and it isn’t the score, we want to talk about it. Our guest this week is director/producer at MrMr Films Katie Lambert Katie dropped in to the SIREN surgery to discuss the soundtrack for the 1999 teen classic “10 Things I Hate About You”. Katie Lambert started with a dream of global domination as a music video producer and has since spread to writing and directing. Her career highlight was P!nk knowing her name, and her lowlight was P!nk using it to say “Katie, you’re an asshole.” Katie’s work focuses on the flaws and beauty of humanity and queerness in all things. She is interested in character driven comedy with a slick, sharp aesthetic. Her unique voice comes from a predisposition with female trouble and messed up relationships. Her aesthetic is influenced by chick flicks of the 00s and the years she squandered watching every music video under the sun. Alongside narrative work, she is signed to Stink and has directed commercially for Arsenal, the Marriott, Lego and Shura.
