3–4, eighth on the ladder, and two of the top three teams up next. No pressure. 😬 Friday night, United head to RAC Arena to face a Perth side that has lost only once at home this season. The Wildcats are also coming off a 102–81 belting in Sydney, so expect them to be angry. 🐱 Then on Sunday, the defending champion Sydney Kings come to John Cain Arena for the Multicultural Game. Torrey Craig and Kendric Davis are coming off a statement win, and the Kings are top of the ladder on percentage. 👑🌏 Shane and Tom break down both games, including whether three losses by two points make this team unlucky or something worse. In this episode: 📋 Where the Teams Stand: form, injuries and storylines for United, Perth and Sydney 🔍 One Thing to Watch: Windler, Pepper, Craig and the battles that could decide each night 🔑 United’s Path to Victory: three keys for each game 📰 Tomorrow’s Back Page: our boldest headlines for the weekend ⚡ Quick-Fire: United’s record after the double, 5–4, 4–5 or 3–6? So much for grounding the Hawks. 🦅 United won the first quarter, won the fourth and still lost 91–89 to a 1–6 Illawarra side at John Cain Arena. A 35–16 second quarter did the damage, and Makur Maker’s three with 71 seconds left sealed it. United slip to 3–4. 😩 It’s just Shane and Tom this week, and there’s plenty to unpack. United won the rebounds 50–32 and took 17 more free throws, but turned it over 18 times and got outscored 53–24 off the bench. Cole Anthony’s technical cost him most of the first half before he poured in 20 after the break. And yes, Milton Doyle came back to haunt us, with the assist on the winning three. 👀 In this episode: 📊 Game by the Numbers: how you win the boards and the free-throw count and still lose 🔍 What Decided the Game: the second quarter, the turnovers and the final 1:22 🔁 Callback Corner: Tatum’s “different conversation” promise, the Hawks’ bench and our preview headlines 🏆 BTB MVP Votes: three, two and one, even in a loss 💱 The Blue Exchange: what we’re buying and selling before Perth and the Kings 🎤 Final Word: our biggest takeaways from the Grassroots Game Bringing the Blue is the Melbourne United podcast for the fans, by the fans. 🔵 Follow the show so you don’t miss our preview of this week’s double, Perth away and the Kings at home. 🏀 #MelbourneUnited #NBL27 #GrassrootsGame #BringingTheBlue #WeAreUnited
United are back to 3–3 and riding a two-game winning streak. Next up is Sunday’s Grassroots Game against the Illawarra Hawks at John Cain Arena. 🌱🏀 After a 2–0 week, with a win in Adelaide and a 15-point comeback in Throwdown 34, United have had an eight-day break to reset. The Hawks arrive at 1–6, last on the ladder, after three straight losses and with the league’s worst defence on the numbers. They’re also bringing a familiar face back to Melbourne in former United guard Milton Doyle. 🦅 A win would put United above .500 for the first time this season. Is this the game the offence finally gets loose, or is a 1–6 team with nothing to lose the most dangerous kind? 🤔 In this episode: 📋 Where the Teams Stand: United’s form, the Hawks’ slump and the latest team news 🔍 One Thing to Watch: the matchups that could decide Sunday, including Doyle’s return 🔑 United’s Path to Victory: three keys to a third straight win 📰 Tomorrow’s Back Page: our boldest headlines for Sunday ⚡ Quick-Fire: our final score predictions Bringing the Blue is the Melbourne United podcast for the fans, by the fans. 🔵 🌱 Heading to the Grassroots Game? Wear your local club jersey to get into the player signing session. 📍 Sunday 18 October, 5:00pm, John Cain Arena. Down 15 in the Fire Pit, and the flames went out. 🧯 United fell behind 30–17 at quarter-time as the Phoenix found the shooting touch they lost in Throwdown 33. From there United dried up the threes, won the second half 59–46 and came back to win Throwdown 34, 104–99. 🔵🔥 Luke Travers led the way with 24 points on 9-of-11. Josh Oduro added 21 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 blocks, and United finished with 8 blocks as a team. Waardenburg’s go-ahead three with 5:42 left put United in front for good, and late stops from Travers and Cole Anthony closed it out. After a win in Adelaide on Wednesday, that’s a 2–0 week, and United are back to 3–3. 💪 In this episode: 📊 Game by the Numbers: how a 15-point deficit turned into a five-point win 🔍 What Decided the Game: the hot start, the comeback and how United closed it out 🔁 Callback Corner: we check the receipts on last Throwdown’s picks (yes, Tom’s aggressive Luke Travers delivered) 🏆 BTB MVP Votes: who gets our three, two and one 💱 The Blue Exchange: what we’re buying and selling before Illawarra 🎤 Final Word: each host’s biggest takeaway from Throwdown 34 Bringing the Blue is the Melbourne United podcast for the fans, by the fans. 🔵 Follow the show so you don’t miss our Grassroots Game preview, as United host the Illawarra Hawks at John Cain Arena on Sunday 18 October. 🏀 #MelbourneUnited #NBL27 #Throwdown #BringingTheBlue #WeAreUnited

Two games, two losses, and United drop to 1–3. 😬 First up, a two-point heartbreaker in Hobart. United came back from 19 down and hit the front late, then lost Oduro and Travers to fouls in the final 30 seconds. Taran Armstrong's fadeaway sealed an 84–82 JackJumpers win in a game with 56 fouls and six foul-outs. 🐜 Then back home at John Cain, United led by nine at three-quarter time and fell apart, losing the fourth 35–14 with zero assists.
