A podcast in short bursts. Each episode poses one question, and two people answer it from where they actually stand. Roy Coughlan (The Podfather) and Catherine Llewellyn (Beingspace.world) sit on different sides of most things — life experience, worldview, the way they arrive at an answer. Different Points isn't about reaching agreement. It's about hearing two honest responses to the same question, side by side, in under 10 minutes. No script, no debate to win. Just one question, two points of view, and whatever truth sits between them. New episodes drop Monday through Friday. Pick a question, press play, and see where you land.

In this episode, Roy and Catherine explore where creativity actually comes from — and land on a shared idea that it's not something you manufacture, it's something you make room for. Catherine explains the philosophy behind her brand, Being Space: that creativity is happening constantly as a natural life force, but most of us are too tangled up in our own drama and mental clutter to notice it. For her, making space means clearing physical clutter, clearing the mind through meditation, yoga, or walking, and just as importantly, clearing unfinished business with people — unspoken truths, unforgiven moments — because those loose ends take up space too. Roy shares his own version of letting go, from clearing out books he'll never reread into a box for visitors to take, to hands-on creative play with his son (paint and a bouncing ball make an appearance), to always keeping pen and paper nearby to catch a stray idea before it's gone. Catherine closes with a defense of fantasy and sci-fi as genuine creative fuel — not escapism, but a way to explore life's questions from angles the real world doesn't offer. In this episode, Roy and Catherine dig into gratitude — not the meme-worthy, 30-day-challenge version, but what actually happens when you practice it for real. Roy shares how gratitude became one of the things that saved him during his darkest period of losing everything, when the phone was full of bailiffs and debt collectors — deliberately turning his mind toward what he still had: his parents' unwavering belief in him, his kid's hug, a roof over his head, food in his belly. Catherine reflects on a spiritual practice she once learned of giving thanks before asking for anything, and how that order changed what she even wanted to ask for in the first place. She makes a distinction that anchors the whole episode: gratitude isn't something you think your way into, it's something you feel — like her cat purring against her at breakfast, or simply looking up at the sky. A short, warm episode that's less about the idea of gratitude and more about actually landing in the feeling of it. In this episode, Roy and Catherine explore what it actually means to see the best in someone — not just noticing the strengths already visible on the surface, but trusting that people have strengths you haven't even discovered yet. Catherine shares how this belief turned out to be the foundation of her entire coaching practice before she ever had a name for it — she'd been operating this way with clients for 16 years before training in humanistic psychology, only to discover during her master's degree that she was already doing exactly what the theory described. She tells a moving story about facilitating a board of directors exercise, where team members wrote down the strengths they saw in each other — and realized their team was already three times more effective than they'd believed, purely from noticing what was already there. Roy talks about choosing to focus on people's positives rather than their flaws, and how gently naming something in someone — from a place of love rather than correction — can create change without ever attacking who they are. In this episode, Roy and Catherine explore what actually makes a question good — and it isn't cleverness. Roy shares his approach to podcast interviewing: never studying a guest's prepared questions in advance, because that just produces the same recycled answers they've given a hundred times. Instead, he peels back the layers to find where someone's really coming from, so they forget they're being interviewed and open up about what they're genuinely passionate about. Catherine connects this to her coaching training — the best questions aren't a clever list, they rise naturally out of real listening, taking the client one layer deeper based on what they just shared, not what the coach wants to demonstrate. She widens the lens further to the questions we ask about our own lives — why am I stuck, what's blocking me from my vision — and makes the case that asking good questions of life itself might be one of the most important skills nobody ever taught us in school. In this episode, Roy and Catherine dig into where their own boundaries most need attention — and for both of them, it's less about other people than about themselves. Catherine opens up about her long, ongoing relationship with screens and scrolling, comparing it to a kind of addiction that never fully disappears, just gets managed better or worse at different points in life — and makes the case that our culture has had thousands of years to learn healthy relationships with things like alcohol, but almost no time to adapt to technology deliberately engineered to be this compelling. Roy picks up the thread on how apps like Facebook and WhatsApp actively pull you back in with little red dots right when you're trying to do something else, and shares his own practical boundary: reading physical books instead of PDFs or audio, and stepping away from screens on purpose. He then turns to boundaries with people — recognizing that some people you can handle for five minutes, others for a day, others for a week, and that real self-protection means knowing that difference and choosing to spend more time around the people who energize you rather than the ones who drain you, instead of trying to be "Mr. Nice Guy" with everyone. In this episode, Roy and Catherine explore the relationships that shape who we become. Roy talks about staying close to his mother as a daily sounding board — valued more for her intuition and people-sense than for business advice — and about surrounding himself with people he trusts who are genuinely trying to make things better for others. He shares his approach to friendship as something built deliberately, not left to chance: picking up the phone instead of waiting to be needed, and choosing a real conversation over a quick Facebook birthday comment. Catherine builds on this with a broader idea — that any relationship can help us grow if we're willing to grow, even a difficult one, because it can teach us our own trigger points and shadow. But it's authenticity specifically — being around people who are genuinely themselves, without pretense — that she finds most nourishing, since it encourages her to become more real too. She closes with a reflection on podcast guests: how every real, open conversation on the show helps her grow, and that if you've ever been a guest on someone's show, you've likely helped them grow more than you realize. In this episode, Roy and Catherine ask a simple but surprisingly hard question: can you be kinder to yourself? Catherine recalls the first time someone told her to take better care of herself — and how it landed as criticism rather than care, a reflex she traces back to a lifelong identity of resilience and toughness that left little room for treating herself as someone who also needs love and vulnerability. She didn't start learning true self-compassion until her 30s, and makes the case that it's a prerequisite for genuinely caring for others — you can't give what you're not giving yourself. Roy shares his own approach of consistently choosing self-appreciation over self-criticism, modeling that for his children rather than talking about it, and draws a comparison to the well-known plant experiment on how words and energy — positive or negative — shape what they're directed at. A short, genuine reminder to talk to yourself the way you'd talk to something you actually want to thrive. In this episode, Roy and Catherine tackle a question worth sitting with: what if failure actually teaches us something? Roy opens up about losing everything — his home, his belongings, all of it — during the mortgage crisis, and how that setback, rather than breaking him, led him into living mindfully in the present and studying sovereignty, which he now credits with making him more powerful and free than he was before. Catherine pushes back on the word "failure" itself, unpacking the deep conditioning that equates a failed project with being a failed person, and why the real skill isn't avoiding failure but learning to say "that didn't work" without spiraling into believing you're not good enough. They land on Einstein's definition of insanity — repeating the same action and expecting a different result — and the importance of having someone in your life who can tap you on the shoulder and remind you of everything you've done right, right when you need it most. In this episode, Roy and Catherine explore the stories we unconsciously tell ourselves — and how they quietly run our lives. Catherine shares a wake-up call from a conversation with a marketing coach, who helped her see the excuses she'd built around avoiding social media ("I'm too old," "my clients won't be on there anyway") — stories that vanished the moment she recognized them as fake. Roy shares two of his own, including a childhood story about when he actually started Kung Fu, and a long-running family debate over what he supposedly asked his grandmother to borrow from the library. Together they reflect on how these stories operate below our awareness, why that's exactly what gives them power over us, and how something as simple as pursuing a relationship, a book, a project, or getting fit can get quietly blocked by a narrative we've never questioned. The takeaway: it's hard to see your own stories alone — find someone who can reflect them back to you. In this episode of Different Points, Roy Coughlan and Catherine Llewellyn dig into what happens when pressure takes over — and why celebrating small steps forward beats anxious fixation on the end goal every time. From the nightmare of UK property chains to how Poland does it in a day, this is a practical and uplifting conversation about staying in flow. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why pressure kills momentum and sends you reaching for distractions instead of taking action How Catherine learned to celebrate every single step in the conveyancing process — and why that mindset shift changed everything Why telling yourself something might fall through could actually make it more likely to How Poland's notary system cuts through the chaos that makes UK property buying so painful Why progress, not pressure, is what keeps you moving forward with energy and clarity Key Takeaways Pressure creates procrastination — flow creates progress Celebrate every milestone along the way, no matter how small — each one is a genuine result Anxiety about outcomes attracts the very thing you're afraid of — focus on what's moving forward Better systems exist everywhere in the world — the willingness to look and learn from them is the real advantage You can't control the whole chain, but you can control how you show up at each step About Catherine Llewellyn Stepping more deeply into your Calling? In this episode of Different Points, Roy Coughlan and Catherine Llewellyn get into something that holds more people back than they'd like to admit — the pursuit of perfection. When does attention to detail serve you, and when does it just get in the way? Raw, honest and fittingly imperfect, this one is worth your time. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why Catherine used to edit every pause and um out of her podcast — and why she stopped How Roy launched this very podcast within days of the idea coming up — and what that says about momentum How The Authority Alliance went from idea to reality at speed — and why that's the only way to do it The painful cost of watching someone take 50 iterations to make a decision while you're already a mile down the road Why keeping the awkward moments in this episode was a deliberate choice — and why it works Key Takeaways Good enough, done, is almost always better than perfect, someday Over-editing your podcast makes it wooden — the organic moments are what people actually connect with Speed of execution is a competitive advantage — launch, then pivot and improve Perfection has its place, but when it becomes a habit it stops being a standard and starts being an excuse Being raw and real on a podcast builds more trust than a polished production that sounds like nobody About Catherine Llewellyn Stepping more deeply into your Calling? In this episode of Different Points, Roy Coughlan and Catherine Llewellyn explore one of the most powerful — and most ignored — tools we have as humans. From the gut feeling Roy had before a financial crash to the motorbike he knew wasn't right, to the spontaneous idea that started this very podcast — this episode is a reminder to stop letting your head talk you out of what you already know. What You'll Learn in This Episode How this podcast was born from a single intuitive moment — and why Catherine almost didn't act on it The gut feeling Roy had to sell everything before the financial crash — and what it cost him to ignore it Why a motorbike that never felt right led Roy to make a decision that may have saved his life How Roy's mother has an almost perfect track record of reading people — and why he now listens to her The three brains — head, heart and gut — and why letting the head dominate drowns out the other two Key Takeaways Intuition is often data that's been processed in the background before you're consciously aware of it Sometimes it seems to come from nowhere at all — and that's exactly when you need to trust it most The question is never whether you can prove it — it's whether you choose to trust it When your gut, your heart and the people closest to you are all saying the same thing, listen The moments you ignored your intuition are usually the ones you later wish you hadn't About Catherine Llewellyn Stepping more deeply into your Calling? And is one better than the other? Honest, personal and thought-provoking as always. Roy Coughlan and Catherine Llewellyn tackle a word that's been talked about for decades, authenticity, and ask what it actually looks like in action rather than just in conversation. Roy frames it simply: authenticity in action means your word is your bond. If you tell someone you'll have something done by tomorrow or call them back, doing exactly that is authenticity, and he shares how often he sees people talk a good game while repeatedly failing to follow through, forgetting who they are in the process. He also notes that when something does slip, the authentic response isn't self-punishment but acknowledgment and a genuine apology, followed by sticking to your word going forward. Catherine adds another layer: authenticity in action also means following what's true for you internally, whether that's pursuing something you genuinely want or letting go of a friendship that no longer serves either person, and actually acting on that truth rather than just thinking about it. She warns that authenticity can be faked on the surface, with a voice or tone that sounds sincere while covering something else entirely, which is exactly why the action, not just the appearance, is what matters.
