For runners preparing for any of the big Autumn Marathons, our podcast will help 1. Guide them through their marathon training journey. 2. What matters most at each point over the final 15 weeks. 3. What should be happening and changing in training for a first-timer, an improver and a performance runner. 4. Mistakes to avoid. 5. Training sessions to do before the next episode. The podcast series will hopefully feel like one coaching conversation unfolding over the marathon preparation block.

Welcome to our final episode of the current season. The Race is now completed and this week we chat about how to get the recovery right, how to debrief honestly and how to decide the next step without panic and without any knee-jerk reactions while hopefully continuing to enjoy your running. With René Borg and Eoin Flynn from Running Coach Ireland
As the excitement builds ahead of Race Day, we chat about how to manage the final few days and how to execute a super race on Sunday: Race week is an execution phase — you can't add meaningful fitness, but you can protect sleep, energy, logistics, confidence and decision quality. Nothing new: execute the rehearsed plan and adapt calmly to the conditions. And lots more Q and A´s to help manage the pre race nerves and excitement. With René Borg and Eoin Flynn from Running Coach Ireland
For those training for the Dublin Marathon next week, they are in the middle of their big Taper ahead of race day. In last weeks´ episode we chatted about how to manage the taper correctly: Reducing accumulated load Preserving the qualities you've developed, and sharpening freshness. Listen is as we discussed how the taper is a key element of the Marathon training block and how its purpose is not to gain new fitness or to stop moving, but to reveal the fitness already built by removing fatigue. With René Borg and Eoin Flynn from Running Coach Ireland

In last weeks episode we asked the question - "Does everyone need a 20-mile or 32-kilometre long run?" To help answer the questions we discussed the following: No — the number itself isn't the point; the point is what the run is meant to rehearse or develop for race day. For some runners that distance is genuinely useful; for others, especially slower runners, it's a disproportionate muscular and time cost relative to the benefit. The better question than “how far” is: what is this specific long run run supposed to teach the body this week? Tune in now to our Ep 5 Highlights Show With René Borg and Eoin Flynn from Running Coach Ireland.

In last week´s episode we took a deep dive on how to find your Marathon Pace for training over the next few weeks and whether that will be the same or different on race day. We chatted about how Marathon Pace is an output of current fitness, durability, fuelling and conditions. It is not created by choosing a finish time and our key question is: Are you training at the pace you’ve earned, or the pace you hope to run? Enjoy the listen and enjoy the miles. With René Borg and Eoin Flynn from Running Coach Ireland.

In last weeks Episode 3 of the Autumn Marathon podcast, our focus was on Fueling and the importance of treating fueling as a key part of our training week and not just a logistical item to work out for race day. Some of the key aspects we discussed were: • Fuelling is trained, not planned • The gut adapts progressively, like everything else • Duration decides the demand, not distance • Practise the race version, not the convenient version • Under-fuelling shows up as a training problem before it shows up as a nutrition one. With Coaches René Borg and Eoin Flynn from Running Coach Ireland.

In Episode 2 we discussed why effective marathon training needs to feel "easy" as well as how to grow your marathon engine through consistent aerobic work that you can repeat and absorb daily, weekly and monthly. We also chatted about how to build the long run without wrecking the rest of the week and indeed the entire marathon build! With René Borg and Eoin Flynn from Running Coach Ireland

If you've got an Autumn Marathon in your calendar, you've probably already asked yourself one uncomfortable question. Am I behind? Maybe your longest run is nowhere near what the plan you downloaded says it should be. Maybe spring got eaten by work, or family, or a niggle that wouldn't go away. Or maybe you've got a finish time written down somewhere, and lately you're not so sure your training actually backs it up. So — fifteen weeks out — what actually matters right now? René Borg and Eoin Flynn from Running Coach Ireland are here to help listeners judge their real starting point and choose a marathon approach that fits the training they canconsistently absorb.
