We spilled these answers everywhere. What a mess. Somebody is going to have to clean this up.

But what if Mario were... surreal? Going back to the original design intentions of the Super Mario Bros., Nintendo delivers a game where Mario gets... a little weird. The only downside is that these little shits talk too much.

Specifically, Parodius! From Myth to Laughter. We've been itching to revisit the Schmup genre and this seemed like a perfect fit. Originally a parody of Gradius, it really just proves that Schmups are really easy to just think about the game in terms of a wireframe.

If it looks like a horror game and quacks like a horror game, it's probably a horror game. Disguising itself (slightly) as a cozy simulator, Grunn is a gardening time loop game about solving micro mysteries in the Dutch countryside. It's neat! It's snack!

They're called neons, sinners plugged from hell to do God's dirty work. But it's hard to believe they're in heaven. Old friends, ex lovers... only one of them can stay in heaven and White has a score to settle.

Producer Gwen joins Kaye to discuss this speed-run focused platforming/visual novel hybrid. We like it! With some caveats.

Questions, questions, questions! You never stop questioning us. So we will never stop answering you.

Upcoming Games:

July

Neon White (Kaye with Producer Gwen)

Grunn

Parodius

Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Premium)

August

Ogre Battle 64

Dispatch (Premium)

You make your decision to listen a podcast, you listen while you do not move, you die. You make another decision to listen to a different episode. Yet again, you do not move. You die. But at least you have a few of the meta resources you need to live a little bit longer. This is kind of what playing Loop Hero is like.

Ah, the arcade. The once-only home of video games has become a nostalgia center for the old at heart. We explore the still extant arcade scene and see what's out there that we're less familiar with. It's still a fairly robust scene!

We answer your questions... and more. * Wink. *

Upcoming WOFF Games:

June:

Arcade Book Report

Loop Hero

Baby Steps (Premium)

July

Neon White (with Producer Gwen)

Grunn

Parodius

Super Mario Wonder (Premium)

What would it take for id to make a game that's so unremarkable, we barely remember it exists? Rage is here to answer that question. Chasing so many trends, Rage barely feels like a game at all some times. Paired with it's non-descript name, it was almost destined to be forgotten.

How far are you willing to go to make sure humanity survives on an off-Earth colony? Embracing player empowerment to design their own experience, Rimworld wants to meet you exactly where you're at. Watch the hours melt away as Rimworld invites you into its warm embrace.

And here's Juno's work! https://junoryleejournalism.com/

The Last Spell is an intricate tactical RPG with a roguelite structure that could possibly become your forever game. By day you build a base, and by night to fight to protect it from vast hordes of mutant zombies. We reflect on why something that feels like it was made for us in a lot of ways might fall short of becoming a new obsession.

We empty the backlog! That's it! We're out of questions! That probably means you have to send more.

You're a fan of stuff, but are you a Fan? We hope not. Those people are insufferable.

Upcoming WOFF Games

May:

The Last Spell

Rimworld

Rage

June:

Arcade Trip Report

Loop Hero

Baby Steps

Our (collective) favorite video game series is back! Nine entries deep and we're still having a blast playing as Leon Kennedy and series newcomer Grace Ashcroft. This time we're investigating a mysterious sickness that seems to be haunting the survivors of the Raccoon City incident.

So many master chiefs! Halo returns in this RTS spin-off, where the war against the flood takes a slightly different perspective. Can you stop the primordial forces trying to destroy the universe? Probably not seeing as there's more Halo games after this.

It's true, we loved Katamari! And now it's back, bigger and more sticky than ever. Gary is joined by Liv Butterfield (no relation) this week to discuss the direct sequel to the beloved Katamari Damacy.

Everyone's favorite sci-fi idiot is back and this time there are MORE zombies or whatever. Dead Space 2 iterates on the rough edges of Dead Space 1, but it does it ultimately move the needle? The game remains as dedicated as ever to it's third-person in-world HUD, but we must question whether that actually makes things any scarier.

You got questions and we jump on them in a variety of ways.

Upcoming Games

April:
Dead Space 2
We Love Katamari
Halo Wars
Resident Evil 9 (Premium)

May:
The Last Spell
Rimworld
Rage
