On today’s news cycle podcast, Tim and Mary look at all the things that seem to be cascading at once – American elections, Israeli election results and the current hostility toward the Jewish state; governments around the world urging people to stockpile basics, Iran, the global economy. How much more can we even watch, let alone comprehend? The world is tense – and the worldly answer to attempting to exercise a modicum of control isn’t to just let things play out, or even to trust God with it all; the answer seems to be just place your bets on anything and everything and come out on top. But for the believer, we trust, often knowing nothing. Win, lose or draw – and when things go sideways as well – we trust a God Who is not surprised by anything, and urge and exhort others to do so too. His ways are not our ways, and we should be grateful for that because humans ruin everything they touch. So even if we know the electoral outcomes, we still really don’t know anything, except that He is on the throne. A full hour of staying alert, armed with hope and brimming with cheer. [Apologies for the late posting] On Tuesday’s edition of SUFTT, Mary takes a look at what it means to “rightly divide the Word” and warns of a 90+ year old movement that is rearing its head in the church. “Mid Acts Dispensationalism”, or “hyper-dispensationalism” is causing untold doctrinal damage in the church again, and reaping confusion and false hermeneutics – and the only thing it is “rightly dividing” is the brethren. We look first of all at some definitions; what is dispensationalism? Why is it considered the best historical/grammatical approach to understanding the bible? Then we look at the finer points of the “hyper-” or “ultra-” versions and compare. Once we understand what they really teach, if we are approached by a brother or sister who wants to know if we understand what it means to “rightly divide”, we won’t be sucked into this aberration of dispensationalism, and be caught with our discernment down. In addition, if one’s church is taken over by their aggressiveness, we will know how to approach that issue as well. Then we take a fresh look at “Red Letter” Christians, and the deeper problems with their approach to dividing the Word. A full hour to equip you to stay the course and study to show ourselves approved. On the first half of today’s SUFTT, Mary welcomes back Todd Nettleton of Voice of the Martyrs to remind the listener that we are approaching another International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians. We discuss the current state of the persecuted church around the world; restricted regions and active hotspots. We talk about the goal of having all churches pray for our persecuted brethren around the world and other ways we can practically help them despite being separated by long distances – and how prayer changes things. Then in the 2nd half, we carry the subject forward by looking at the storm of persecution brewing in the West through the systematic destruction of the Judeo/Christian worldview. Both Canada and the UK have seen an uptick in legal pressures and anti-Christian bias that is now labeled “hate”, and as such, those who are targeted could be open to potential prosecution. An eye-opening hour for believers in the West who need to have their wits about them as things grow ever darker. Mary welcomes Autumn Christensen to discuss Her Plan – a hands-and-feet approach to being pro-life. There seems to be a disconnect in the church between being pro-life by conviction and finding opportunities to bring practical hope in real time. Christians often think the only way to show that conviction is to protest somewhere, when actually there are organizations in place to provide for the needs of women who are in dire straits with an unplanned pregnancy, combined with no support group or perhaps mired in poverty and homelessness. Important research has shown that if women had actual resources to see the pregnancy through, around 2/3 of them say they would reconsider abortion. With so many disenfranchised people in the world, this should not be a surprise – and government organizations are not the solution. Rather, charities and ministries have the people and resources to help find ways to meet the needs of women desperately in need of answers. Autumn is the executive director of Her Plan, and chats with us about the myriad of ways we can put our pro-life convictions into real action, meeting the needs of real people, showing the love of Jesus. Mary welcomes back Pastor Mike Spaulding of Calvary Chapel of Lima Ohio to talk about the changing face of an unchanging gospel. How do we navigate profound cultural changes and stay the course? And not only stay the course but exhort others to as well? Change is the one constant, it would appear. With that in mind, we discuss some weighty things with Pastor Mike, such as sound doctrine, political engagement and the church, pastors and their reputations, and how to steady the ship here in 2026. There are so many things tugging at us all, but shouldn’t church be safe, painless, and uncompromising? On paper, yes of course. In practice, with people’s sensibilities today, is it even possible? And if we got a letter from Paul, or John, what might it say? Or maybe we can queue up in the Laodicean line, a prophecy that is easier and easier to comprehend the closer we get to His return. A challenging hour for the church, in real time and on today’s edition of SUFTT. The news cycle of the last several days serves to tell us that the world in its current form is becoming very unstable, especially where the West is concerned. Watching riots break our all over France is disturbing enough, but that uneasy feeling that this is only the beginning is possibly the most unsettling because of who is behind all the violence. On today’s edition of SUFTT, we look at the list of agitators who are being assembled and sufficiently agitated to burn France to the ground. Whatever narrative was originally floated to explain the riots last week was, not surprisingly, mostly false. Will this spread to the US? Well, look at the elections and be very concerned. We also look at what the bible says is in Europe’s future, a global leader who will promise to quell the insanity. Also today we talk about Obama’s outrageous anti-Israel comments in Belfast, blaming the Jews for France’s nightmare, and why speaking against Israel is trendy – but morally irresponsible. Mary welcomes JB Hixson back to the podcast to talk about how Christianese often ventures into platitudes and fridge magnets, and from time to time, just absolute contextual disasters. Back in 2016, a book was published about things Jesus “never said”, followed by a raft of memes that were alternately funny and cringe-worthy. And unfortunately, even these, without discernment, are all over the doctrinal map. What’s to keep the publisher from releasing “Things Jesus Never Said: Cult Edition”? Instead, we look at some sayings that just don’t make the cut of biblical truth. Does God help those who help themselves? Is all truth God’s truth? Then we look at the Hallmark-card-friendly Jeremiah 29:11 and 2 Chronicles 7:14, checking into the context of 2 passages that are constantly misapplied. We might just challenge some long held presumptions today. Here’s some of what we tackled: 1. “You’ve got to wear your Sunday best.” 2. “Go into all the world and twist the Scriptures so no one is offended.” 3. “If you don’t like the church I established, just make up your own.” 4. “God helps those who help themselves.” 5. “You make your own luck.” 6. “You make your own opportunities.” 7. “Opportunity doesn’t come knocking. You have to go looking for it.” 8. “All truth is God’s truth.” 9. “God’s truth is all truth.” 10. “If it works, it must be true.” 11. “Live your truth.” 12. “The bigger the church, the more popular it is, the more it must be doing things right.” 13. “This too shall pass.” 14. “Love the sinner, hate the sin.” 15. “Haters are gonna hate.” 16. “All things work together for good.” 17. “God will not give you more than you can handle.” 18. “Share the Gospel, and if necessary, use words.” 19. “My life models the Gospel.” 20. “Just watch me and you’ll get saved.” 21. “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” 22. “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 23. “Judge not, lest you be judged.” 24. “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” 25. “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray, I will heal their land.” 26. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A
Mary welcomes back filmmakers Mark and Amber Archer to discuss their 5th documentary film, “Principalities: Doctrines of Demons”. It examines the spiritual warfare behind the cultural, educational, political and ideological battles we are witnessing today. Through firsthand testimony, interviews, and primary-source footage, they examine competing doctrines and worldviews, particularly their influence on children, families, the Church, and society. What a lot of us in the west fail to grasp is that what we see in this world, the architecture and infrastructure of politics, fame, societal issues and culture, has as it’s underpinning spiritual values; a worldview. The kingdom of Light vs the kingdom of darkness – and the spoils are the souls of men. This goes on unabated, around the clock, whether we perceive it or not. So where is the front line of the battle? Our kids, our doctrine, our discernment, our biblical literacy, our vigilance. A great hour of encouragement to stay in the war, so much is at stake in this late hour. Some of our listeners might remember the intro to the black-and-white classic, “Outer Limits”, in which the narrator told the viewer that what you are seeing, while bizarre, does not indicate a problem with the messenger, that big old console television “set”. But rather, an outside force that exists independently from your moderated TV reality is doing things you might not understand. And truly, 60 years later, there are things going on that the average person does NOT understand. And that TV set will not help them. Only true spiritual light from the Holy Spirit will brighten our path and our understanding. As believers, we not only should have a basic grasp of events, but even the knowledge of how they all fit together. Now is not the time for a normality bias, but to understand our world – that is headed for judgment. On today’s headlines podcast, we talk about a first time ever religious gathering of all religions of the world. There have been many such confabs claiming to unite the world, but not quite like this one. We also look at the unhinged conversation that the Mayor of Seattle had with any scoffers who might listen in, that the Jews and Christians – and technocrats – are going to bring us all kicking and screaming into Armageddon. Another topic: Elon Musk and his ancestral technocratic dreams. And speaking of unhinged, El Sayed wants to ban any Sharia bans in America. Fun times. Mary welcomes back Alex Newman to talk about keeping the faith when it comes to encroaching legal double standards. First we look at the Maine court case in which a mom is being cut off from any rights to allow her daughter to be raised with biblical standards and a biblical worldview. The 13 year old daughter, who is a believer, is at the center of a case in which the father, an atheist, has forced a court decision to disallow any bible reading or church attendance when she is with her mother. The court has been very careful to hide their bias by saying it's about co-parenting "successfully", awarding the father sole authority in the daughter's spiritual upbringing, meaning, none. What about mom's rights? Then we look at the new California mandate that would force churches to provide employees with "Anti-Hate Speech Training" and yet another encroachment into church's rights. Then we address the September Lifeway poll that says that while most Christians they polled feel they can confidently defend the biblical worldview, a full third of those polled said that parts of the bible can also be considered "obsolete" as the culture changes, and in particular, and half of the Zoomers think this is acceptable. Does anyone have a high view of Scripture anymore? The bible warns us in anticipation of this slide to not be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. And finally, midterms: El Sayed, candidate for Michigan US Senator, is trying to shut down proposed nationwide bans on Sharia by claiming these efforts constitute "White Supremacy". So, if the daughter of the Maine father was Muslim and attending a mosque, would any of this matter to Maine? Or Michigan? Show your work. Mary welcomes back apologist and author Chris Lawson to talk about a subject both had hoped would never come up again: the phenomenally successful The Shack. William Paul Young has done it again in publishing a sequel to his 25 million selling book that was never intended to go into the Christian book market. The new book, "Return to the Shack" must be vetted as thoroughly as the original. Problem is, the original was largely swallowed hook, line and sinker, much to the detriment of the church. The original was very much a Kodak moment in the church already. So what's new if anything in this 2026 model? We talk about his theology, the doubling down of his unorthodox New Age flavored universalism, and look at how the church can take a stand against such postmodern, heretical drivel. Chris has written several outstanding booklets for Lighthouse Trails Research as well, and you can find those here. Mary welcomes back Russ Miller to talk about what the Greco-Roman world referred to as their very own brand of professional intellectuals, logicians, and academic debaters who relied on philosophy, rhetoric, and argument to define truth. These disputers, as Paul calls them, were said to be "inquirers of truth" but many of us might wonder if they were ever, or are today, actually interested in truth! Today's conversation with Russ is a bit different, taking the perspective of the unbeliever/atheist and in looking at Romans 1 in which we learn that all men know there is a Creator, and what it means when they deny it. We talk about the big bang and its origins, why skeptics refuse to believe in a Creator and why that might be a threat to them. We also look at their biggest questions, and add a few of our own. A fun and enlightning hour. Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A
On this week's headline podcast, we talk about what is holding back the tide of evil in this overtly evil age. Did you ever stop to think about what God allows - and disallows? The dramatic events surrounding the FlyDubai flight of September 30 drove this home in that God really did do a miracle for those passengers, a full flight of Israelis, many of them flying to Israel to celebrate the feast of Tabernacles. So what kind of evil will be unleashed once the church is gone? Who is the Restrainer spoken of by Paul, and is there a connection between the two? The church cannot agree, as usual, but there really is only one answer and it's not some vague random power. We talk about antisemitism, Christianity being marginalized, and the comfort we can have when we realize that God is truly on the throne, involved in the affairs of men, and that the book of Revelation should inspire worship above all. A full hour looking at today, the only day we really have to do the work of God while we still can. Darkness is descending. Mary welcomes back Olivier Melnick on this eve the 3rd anniversary of the October 7 attacks. What has transpired in that time, what have we learned? Some of it is just so grievous, in the case of antisemitism. Weeping for the night (Psalm 30:5) surely describes the scars on the the people over time - but joy in the morning - we often look at this through a far more temporal lens, the short view of day and night and our smaller trials but there is something much bigger in view here: Israel's long night of struggle and the dawn of redemption. We talk about Hamas and their agenda, and Europe and their agenda. None of it pro-Israel, of course. And yet as we see the Day approaching, the Bright and Morning Star surely promised, let's hold fast our confession of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and press on in truth about Israel from God's perspective. Mary is back with a solo podcast taking on the late blooming fruit of the Purpose Driven/Seeker Sensitive/motivational paradigm of the corporate branding of the church. It's been over 20 years since the Evangelical Industrial Complex redefined what a church is, what preaching is, and the consumer approach to all of it. Where are we at? It's not good. Even small-to-middlin' churches have adopted the cape wearing hero style of many if not most pastors today. What is a pastor, after all? Why are so many failing to finish well? If a church isn't teaching the Bible systematically, what are they doing? Is there a name for what people sit through every Sunday? Many sharp Christians know what is missing, but they can't seem to name it. We name it today. We look at C. Peter Wagner and Peter Drucker, the men responsible for the Signs and Wonders movement, the NAR, and the corporate top-down, success oriented view of the pews - and it is wholly unbiblical. No sacred cows today, just straight shooting as we assess the fallout of the purpose driven drivel over the Spirit led church. Mary welcomes Chris Quintana back to the podcast to talk about Ai - morally, physically, philosophically, scientifically. Some of us of a certain age thought our answering machines were pretty special, because before those things showed up, we were pretty much unreachable. Then came this century. There is so much to try and parse about Ai it's mind-boggling. Today we look at how it should--or shouldn't--be applied to bible prophecy; whether it's artificial, intelligent, or just thinks it thinks. Many wishful thinkers believe that when it gets "intelligent enough" it will become conscious. Well, birds and dogs are conscious, but not nearly as intelligent as humans or Ai. What about if it escapes its pen? Is it really just a sophisticated answering machine or does it have no answers whatsoever? Does it hallucinate? A fun and full hour with the very thoughtful Chris Quintana. Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A
On todays SUFTT: Headline Edition we talk about "that land". Israel, the most contested piece of real estate in the world. The American folk song, "This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land" that we all sang as kids, is a catchy, soaring ode to the beauty and co-ownership, the freedom, that Americans have always had from sea to shining sea. Walk it, drive it, fly over it - it was "made for you and me." But was it, really? America, like every bit of land around the world, has been settled, unsettled and resettled many times in history. In Israel, that contested dirt is also claimed by many; but what does the Bible say about it? Is it all that special? And if Israel dares to claim long-standing and actually eternal ownership and try to prevent its own annihilation, well that's unacceptable. The Bible has a lot to say about that land, which is governed by covenant in God's eyes, regardless of the UN's take. Mary welcomes back Bub Kuns to talk about the latest in the "Debunked" video series. When it comes to topically exposing lies that enslave, no one does it visually better than Bub and the Reasons for Hope crew. Today we talk about their newest reasoning tool, "The Earth is Flat". One might wonder how in the world such a theory could gain any traction in such a scientifically rational world in which photographic and scientific evidence quickly and easily destroys such a theory. But what is behind their thinking? Quite possibly simply the word "theory" - and a deep-seated need to distrust any and all of the world's institutions that some people have decided are decidedly untrustworthy. So is it even worth it to debate them at all? Some might say no, but what if we peel back the motives and look at why people believe such things, and discover what other questions they might have about things that are eternal? The same ones humans have always had. We also look at the most popular Debunked videos, and the most effective. A fun hour with one of the more creative apologists out there. Gary Kah Mary welcomes Gary Kah back to SUFTT. Gary has been a valued guest of the podcast for many years, warning, exhorting and encouraging Christians to pay attention to globalism, Islam, communism, and general church and culture issues. Today we talk about communism's rise and how it is reshaping everything about this nation. We also discuss current antisemitism statistics, up considerably since 2023. We talk about voting, and the latest Barna poll indicating that Christians really don't intend to vote this year or ever. And yet, who IS voting? Muslims, Communists, friends and neighbors without biblical worldviews - so we are abdicating our worldview to them. Sobering, but it's not just politics as usual today. Who will speak up for our kids in public schools, for the defenseless, for those of us who want to be free to worship and speak about the gospel openly? Plenty to consider in these times. A full hour of insights into our world with Gary. Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A
