Tim and Jerrym are shit at running but love it nonetheless. Listen to them chat training as hard as they can for their mediocrity, the gear they hope will do the work for them, interesting bits from the running world and some poorly researched race results.

Life got in the way this week and the boys had to put in an early shift to get this out this week. Dockers, cross training, sore losers, Tim's return to training volume, sunburn, socks, world ultimate and so much more for your listening pleasure.
Tim sits down for a special guest episode with Perth runner, content creator and self proclaimed "Runaholic", Karl Julius (IG: @julius.runs). We chat about fitting 100km weeks around FIFO work and family life, his build towards his first marathon in Melbourne and why he initially skipped the marathon to run ultras first. We also get into the content creation side of running, including Karl's recent challenge of posting 30 videos in 30 days, what he's learnt from putting himself out there and why documenting the process has become part of the fun.
This week the boys discuss the merits of listening to your body and the importance of communicating those niggles, aches and illnesses with your coach. Tim, naturally, chooses to completely ignore this advice while chalking up his biggest training week in quite some time. What could possibly go wrong? There were plenty of hot topics doing the rounds in the running world this week, and the boys do their best to make sure you don't miss any of the good stuff. LCA would also like to welcome OAT Running on board as the segment sponsor for Run It Or Bin It this month. Happy Running!
With a stacked run sheet and limited time to record, the boys built nicely only for Tim to have to leave for an appointment just as they reached the Race results, Meaning Jerrym had to sail the ship home solo. Please excuse the audio at the end. You'll get your usual quota of Coach's corner, Training Weeks, Run it or bin it, things we saw on the internet and Gear yarn. Shout out to WARP for the shout out too, rising tides lift all ships.
This week you get all the usual goodies but the main theme is Rest In Peace to the boys legs after failing to respect what they were getting themselves into at Transcend Trail 65km relay! Lines are drawn on biscuit choices, a unanimous call on the do it all trail shoe and a stack of race results. Enjoy your running!
G'day Low Ceiling Friends, This week the boys cover off an introduction to Threshold work, a couple of light weeks on the track to freshen up for the Transcend Trail Relay (taken with permission, of course) and a few topics to get Tim off the fence in Run It Or Bin It including do speed trainers still have a place? Enjoy and tune in next week to see how badly the Transcend Hills break the boys.
This week the boys get on their high horses, Jerrym with regard to respecting the marathon and Tim with regard to respecting your appointment times! Some fashion tips and a listener submission in "Run It Or Bin It", the soft launch of the new LCA website and some big results from the Strava group in a couple of regional events! Thanks for listening!!
The Comm games are over but the boys are still riding the wave! What a time to be an Aussie! Jerrym debuts a new segment, "Coach's Corner", Tim threatens to reinstate his Strava and the boys get into it on Peptide use in amateur sport (all opinions, no advice), thanks to a listener topic submission. Training weeks, Run It or Bin It, Race results and all the filler you could ever want...it's all there for you in Episode 53 of the LCA Pod!
This week the guys hold round two of the draft, this time in a slightly altered format to capture all the best bits from the Commonwealth Games. Tim caps off the "From the ground up" segment, finds himself in a footwear dilemma and embraces his spirit animal. Jerrym listens to the body and pivots slightly in training, gets reactive with some gym work and does his best to keep the Big Boomer Energy. Enjoy Episode 52!
Race records. State champion. Australian representative. A career on the rise. Then it all comes to a screaming halt as a rare medical condition rears its head. When all you've ever known is running, what do you do when, suddenly, you can't? Jerrym sits down with Kieren Tall, an incredibly talented runner from NSW, to talk about his rise through the sport, the diagnosis that changed everything, and where he goes from here.
This week Tim lets the listeners in and explains his AI driven training plan with a bit more detail. Jerrym recounts his little Saturday outing to Joondalup Parkrun, the boys trial a new segment: "Run it or Bin it" and eventually address the event everyone in running is talking about, the London Diamond League and Josh Kerr's incredible run. A lot to discuss, so settle into your pace and enjoy the listen.
This week the lads discuss Tim's rising from the ashes of his DNF last week, how AI can play a role and the path to Melbourne. Jerrym is 42 and still trying to work out a balance between having a good time and getting the work done. There's a new segment on deck and the boys give it both barrels...let's see if it hangs in there. There's training weeks, previews, results and some hot takes, get running and get listening!
The Gold Coast played host to some of Australia's best running talent over the weekend, seeing the likes of Ed Marks, Izzy Batt Doyle and Haftu Strintzos have big days out, particularly Haftu in setting the new NR in the marathon. The half marathon was also the chosen event for the debut of the LCA fantasy draft, a fun concept but who got the chocolates? (Or the vanilla slice in this instance). We chat NR, PB, DNF and the potential phoenix rising from the ashes at Bibra Lake.
This week Tim spends more time talking about shins than his actual training week. Jerrym has a bittersweet report on Perth's gambling capital but has a good week on his feet. The lads launch their first fantasy running draft for the GC half and bang on about marathon saturation. The usual splash of results and random takes are in there too...enjoy!
This week Tim and Jerrym wax lyrical about Perth's glamourous running weather, the less glamourous toll their careers take on their running and get stuck into recapping their recent efforts at the Ultra Perth 10k. Tim moves up the chain and into the Achilles, a common problem area for runners of all abilities. Marathon majors, Australia's majors, global and local running results and as always some gear yarn. The boys go long, join them for episode 47!
When is the best plan, no plan? This week, Tim and Jerrym discuss the balance between structure and flexibility in training, and whether adapting sessions to suit real life can actually lead to better consistency. The boys also chat about nitrate supplementation, the growing number of bicarb products hitting the market and whether taking both is a good idea. There's training week updates, race week planning (or lack of), a look at recent results from home and abroad, plus the usual Tim's clinic and things we saw on the internet. Whether you're building mileage, preparing for your next race, or just trying to fit training around life, there's something in this one for you.
A little something different for you, Champions! Jerrym sits down with Ben Cartwright to discuss his journey through sport and running that eventually led to the launch of onerunning.com.au . Along the way, they chat about building a brand from the ground up, product development, community, and balancing life as a runner, full time accountant and business owner.
Tim and Jerrym review the mystery shoe that's been quietly racking up the k's and finally reveal what it is, where it fits in the current market and whether it deserves a spot in your rotation. The boys also discuss the growing role of AI in running, from training analysis through to the privacy questions that come with handing over years of personal training data. There's training week updates, sibling rivalry, gear chat, race results from around the world and a discussion on women's safety while running following a recent social media post. Stay tuned later in the week for a bonus episode too!
Tim and Jerrym circle back to the Enhanced Games discussion, this time looking at its potential influence on the general population. The IOC made zero friends this week when its President suggested athletes should compete for free. Naturally, the boys have a few thoughts. There's brief training updates, gear yarn, and some poorly researched race results from around the traps — including a look at the Launceston Running Festival. Enjoy!
This week on Low Ceiling Athletics: The guys discuss Tim's short turnaround to run the HBF Half Marathon, unpack a recent study on foam rolling and whether it's actually useful for runners, and work through how to find the best help for your injury management. They also talk Taj Watson's meteoric rise on social media, and of course, the enhanced games anticlimax. Plus: - An Aussie brand gets some love on gear yarn - Jerrym manages to compare Scott Pendlebury to Satisfy - By request, the Secret Shoe Project is explained As always, It wouldn't be LCA without some poorly researched race results and questionable tangents, so they're included too.
