7 Months into my podcast journey, i have a slightly different perspective on the outlook of our game. This week's episode I look at Scottish Golf - Are we doing enough to grow the game? With almost 50 years in the game, Ian takes us on a journey from his home town in Huntly to winning the world Amateur championship with Scotland. The mastermind behind Danish Golf, we take a deep dive into the rise of Danish golf with the incredible Andreas Kali. He has taken 13 year old juniors to the DP World Tour and PGA Tour and WOW... what we can learn as a nation of similar climate and population and it's not funding or facilities....

Part 2 of my interview with Barry Hume, we dive into his career as a Professional and everything that went with that roller-coaster ride. The talent and ability was never in doubt, but why did he not emulate his startling amateur career and continue this into the Pro ranks... Wow, what a career, a very thoughtful gentleman and a golfing genius!

As a young Junior golfer, I looked up to Barry as THEE Player in our county and country that every young kid wanted to be. Winning national titles by 13 shots, winning 72-hole events by 10 shot margins, course records and much more - I had the pleasure of sitting with Barry and reminiscing about his early amateur days at Haggs Castle Golf Club, the influence of Jim McAllister, Head Pro, his partnership with Marc Warren and the drive to be the best player in the world! 1 hour and we have only just started, enjoy Part 1 with Barry Hume, one of Scotland's greatest ever amateur golfers.

I sat down with 2 x time European Tour Winner, Alastair Forsyth. "Big Al", a gentleman and a Scottish golf legend, one of the most consistent players we had on the European Tour for 15 + years. He talks of his rise from the Junior section at Ralston G.C., onto Tour, the impact he is having as a coach and also now in his "rookie" year on the Legends Tour! A great insight into the life of Big Al and also gives his opinion on the future of Scottish golf.

James and I both turned Professional in 2002, fast forward nearly 25 years and "Ersky" is still leading the way for PGA Club Professionals across the UK+I. An incredible journey from his roots in the south of Scotland, the game of golf and his PGA background has taken James all over the world, however, it is his impact on the Junior game throughout Scotland that saw James rewarded with a world-renowned award in 2025. Fast forward a few years and she has recently been crowned Scottish Coach of the Year, and is paving the way for dozens of new golfers, in particular, Ladies and Juniors.
