The energy is right up from the get go in today’s episode and there was plenty of adventures from the latest Mates On A Mission program AKA pubs and playgrounds tour to recap. Benny has been going toe to toe with sheep in the main street, Ames has been chatting with the local cockatoo and the girls had every truck between Melbourne and Adelaide on the horn! Ames has Christmas shopping hacks for us as the countdown to Christmas quickly dawns upon us, Ben is trying to remember scenes from movies that are blurry at best and there are plenty of random recommendations as always. In ‘What caught your eye’ we dive into the types of people that don’t return their shopping trolley and don’t pick up their dog sh!#t with the conclusion being pretty simple don’t be a grub! Congratulations as well to Matt Morris who this week landed the million dollar barra in the NT, what a catch! Enjoy Legends! The studio set up has been ditched for the week with an on the road motel room catch up after a big weekend of celebrating love for Carly & Bayley’s wedding and what a wedding it was. Benny is still suffering from a bit of post wedding pink eye as they recap a ripper weekend all round from mango margarita’s through to mid ceremony interruptions and just how much we love celebrating a good bit of love. What caught your eye is back this week with on topic relationship quotes that Ames brings to the table, the mystery of the brown spa and the return of an iconic Aussie drama series in 2027! As this goes to air we will be on day 2 of another Mates On A Mission program throughout Western Victoria and South East SA while we juggle playground missions with meaningful conversations and a car that is absolutely loaded to the max! This one started with frozen face washers relieving Benny’s eye balls from the unrelenting pain thanks to his continual case of severe hay fever and ended up with him flying solo thanks to the beckoning call of sick kids! There has never been more mowing done at Flying Blind HQ thanks to their newest family member, the Roborock robotic mower and it is a dead set game changer! Benny was up in Brisbane over the weekend for the annual Get Yourself Checked charity gala and runs us through what was an amazing night to be involved with that raised $1 million for prostate cancer. After Ames gets called out Benny finishes with some upcoming events including another Ski For Life Mates On A Mission roadshow next week and an event we are pumped for, the Four Posts Jarklin Quick Shear on the 13th of November. It is third time lucky for Benny and Dan ‘Wardy' Ward as they had a couple of false starts before finally getting this chat in the book. Wardy brings unreal energy and has the story to match. He runs us through the moment he got hit by an out of control truck and the impact it has had on the rest of his life. The boys share tales of trekking Kokoda as Wardy is recently back from his first adventure to PNG, spotting different coloured cars and pumping out 30,000 push ups in 1 month. There is some great stuff in here for everyone around harnessing positive energy, strengthening your mindset and the importance of checking in on your own tyre pressure. Enjoy legends! Benny has just rolled back in from a very wet and muddy Deni Ute Muster and has definitely seen better days and Ames is pumped as the NRL Grand Final is on in the background as she cheers on her beloved Newcastle Knights while we record this week’s episode. There’s been plenty happening over the past couple of week’s kicking off with a huge few days on the Gold Coast for Podcast Royale 3.0 with plenty of tales to tell from the hectic lead up, the fight night itself, the after party, a ripper Sunday sesh and so many highlights catching up with the legends that we got to meet! Ames nearly turned this into the Newcastle Knights Supporters Podcast as she had plenty of details about their history and success 25 years so the question is has she just jumped on the band wagon or does she really bleed red and blue? Benny has been line dancing, featuring in music videos and getting his boots muddy at Deni with plenty of mates. Wrapping up this week, the fact October is Mental health month has caught our eye so make sure you do something to look after yourself and your mates this October because before we know it the silly season will be upon us. While on the Gold Coast for Podcast Royale 3.0, you get to meet some absolute legends. On night 1 Benny got the invite to jump into the Reuben’s Ranch limo that has been converted into a mobile podcast studio for plenty of laughs and yarns and then we switched it up for a very different interview with Reuben the next day. Benny went into this one thinking that he and Reuben from DMW would be talking all things 4x4’s, outdoor adventures and chopping cars in half to put trays on them, turns out he was very wrong! From growing up in a family that struggled to make ends meet and caring for his sister with disability, to having his world changed forever when his wife and mother of his two children had an accident resulting in an acquired brain injury. This has changed not just Reubens life but his families and he shares so openly how it continues to have an impact and that at the moment things are pretty bloody tough. Chopping cars in half does get a mention as well as the huge benefit that has come as a by product of starting his own podcast, Reubens Ranch, which leads them to sharing a pretty exciting idea they have come up for 2027! One of our great mates Ronald John Tully the III drops in for a yarn while he is in the big smoke for the NFL. We cover growing up on the coast, making the big decision to pack up and move out west, becoming a ‘Seaweed Cowboy’, and his impeccable record of getting through 100% of the shit days. Tully also brings a very special gift for Benny, a custom made 7 man blind fold championship belt that will be carried out and up for grabs at the Podcast Royale 3.0 on the 26th of September where Benny will be defending his title from last year and now his newly acquired belt as well! Benny and Ames catch up on everything they have been up to lately, however they have to start with Benny’s big burnt lip! Turns out 30 seconds in the microwave is way too long to reheat a hot jam donut as benny found out the hard way. There was a rescue mission at a local festival as well as smoking meat, off chicken and a new addition to the backyard for Fathers Day. This week’s addition of ‘what caught your eye’ focused in on RUOK? Day this Thursday the 9th of September and the importance of thinking about your answer to the question and what else we can add to the question itself so it’s not so easy to answer without thinking. In this week’s episode of Flying Blind Ben sits down with drifter & dad, Tate Lindstrom, AKA the ‘One Arm Bandit’. Tate was born with one arm that wasn’t fully formed and even though it was a shock to his parents initially with a ‘can do’ attitude and plenty of trial and error, there hasn’t been much in the world of motorsport that Tate hasn’t had a crack at. Whether it was go karts, motorcross or his current passion, drifting, Tate’s approach has always been that thinking outside the box combined with plenty of hours in the shed makes pretty much anything possible! In this week’s episode of Flying Blind, Ames and Benny catch up and cover why blind people should be exempt from hay fever, Amy’s launch into #HomelyFans, how good a day at the local footy is, plus another instalment of ‘what caught your eye?’ with new buildings, fascinating stories, and penguins catching the attention this week. Benny also shares the story behind his love for footy shorts. It’s got nothing to do with his short lived junior footy career before he went blind, but a way to keep his best mate Cammo and his memory close, as a reminder of how he loved to live life. There is also an update on incoming merch that’s not far away now so keep your eyes and ears peeled for that! Enjoy this one and we hope you have a ripper week! Childhood mate and AFLW player Kirsty Lamb catches up with Ben and shares her story from junior sport through to becoming a professional athlete with the Port Adelaide Football Club today. Initially Kirsty was the only girl playing with the boys until that was taken away and she had to find other pathways in sport. Cricket seemed like the sport that had the most open doors for women so she focused on pursuing a career in cricket until the announcement of AFLW presented an opportunity to turn what had always seemed like a dream that would never come true into reality. Sport has taught Kirsty plenty along the way and there is so much that she has learned in elite sport that we can all relate to in life. Australian singer & songwriter plus all round legend, Brad Cox drops into the Flying Blind studio before his Melbourne show last week as part of his current national tour. The boys dive into what it has taken to chase a career in music, the importance of switching off, why Brad believes constantly grinding isn’t the only way to success and the impact that ego and comparison can have in all aspects of life. They also talk mental health, song writing, on stage secrets and play a variation of ‘pick that sound’ built just for Coxy. He is a bloody great singer but he’s an even better bloke and we appreciate him dropping in for a yarn to catch up. Enjoy legends! Ames has just landed back refreshed and re-energized after 9 days on the coast and she has come back to some nice new additions to the studio that Benny and his old man have knocked up while she was away. It is the first chance the two of them have had to properly catch up in a while so they take the time to check in with each other, go through what’s been happening as well as another instalment of ‘what caught your eye’. This one goes all over the shop, covering Toy Story 5, magpies that don’t sleep, new shapes and chocolate flavours, barking dogs and what makes you a true local plus plenty of random recommendations. Enjoy legends! Benny and Ames will also be at Brad Cox at the Forum in Melbourne this week so if you’re going or don’t have any plans, grab some tickets and join them for what will be a unreal night of live music by one of the country’s best! https://www.iambradcox.com/shows If you are in the lawn or land care industry make sure you get along to the 2026 Lawn and Land Equip Expo on the Gold Coast on Saturday the 1st of August and grab a ticket to the networking event at ‘The Island’ in Surfers Paradise for a fantastic evening where Ben will be the guest speaker. https://llee.com.au/# Get around Flying Blind on socials! We have our first blind guest on Flying Blind this week with Matt Formston joining Ben for our first ever blind to blind chat! Matt is a big wave and world champion surfer, Paralympian, speaker and author. He has a list of achievements a mile long that to most of us would just seem outright ridiculous however driven by the question and title of his new book, ‘Why Not?’ combined with enormous amounts of trust, Matt is a living example of what’s possible with the right mindset and strategies. Matt shares openly what life has been like for him being blind, his low points, how he pulled himself out of them as well as how he doesn’t let not being able to see hold him back today. Pre-order Matt’s new book ‘Why Not?’ and go into the draw to win an iPhone Air, JS Surfboard or Billabong Wetsuit! https://www.mattformston.com/books/why-not-pre-sale To find out about booking Matt for your next event or learn more, check out- https://www.mattformston.com/ Stay in touch with Matt and his blind adventures on socials-- Instagram: https://www.tiktok.com/@mattformston Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mattformstonofficial/ Get around Flying Blind on socials! In this weeks episode of Flying Blind, Benny and Ames are back and introduce some new segments to these catch up episodes. Benny runs us through a hectic day as a blind dad which included getting on the wrong bus and somehow getting lost in the bra section of K-Mart! Amy feels like a new woman thanks to Pilates and together they bring up a number of things that have so called ‘caught their eye’. We also need your help! If you have any name ideas for what our Flying Blind community should be called, hit us up on socials or shoot us an email with your suggestions! Enjoy legends Get around Flying Blind on socials! In this week’s episode of Flying Blind Ben sits down with podcaster, punter and proud parent, Blair ‘Gibbo’ Gibson, for a yarn. Recorded back at Sandstone Point on the morning of Alpha Fest, Gibbo runs us through a bit of everything from passionfruit farming and saving lives through to building a life that is centred around gratitude, family, mateship and just trying to be a bit better every week. This is an absolute ripper and one that has been heavily requested so we hope you enjoy! In this weeks episode of Flying Blind, Ben and Amy sit down and catch up on what’s been happening. Ames has been hiking mountains, cooking calamari and wrangling kids while Benny has been on the road again delivering 22 different sessions from Adelaide to Port Augusta and everywhere in between! They then dive into why every year we find ourselves saying that every year feels like it is going by quicker than the last one and it turns out that it’s actually a real thing! And the answer to making it go slower, a bit more variety! If you’re nearby, make sure you catch up with Benny at one of his upcoming events – Friday the 17th of July – 4 Posts Hotel, Jarklin from 6:00pm 6696 Loddon Valley Hwy, Jarklin VIC Friday the 24th of July – Boots Up Breakfast from 8:00am 215 Parkers Rd, Leaghur VIC Get around Flying Blind on socials!
