MORE MAGIC Episodes are quick visits with your Moms Behind the Magic to bring you a little bit MORE to your week! Katie Boone shares her first-hand experience at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando, including what surprised her most, what felt scarier on paper than in person, and which parts of the event are actually worth prioritizing. If you’ve ever wondered whether this event is only for hardcore horror fans, this episode breaks down the scare level, the structure of the night, and the best ways to enjoy it without overcommitting. We discuss the haunted houses, scare zones, Death Eaters in Diagon Alley, themed food and drinks, and the Blood Noir show. Aly and Katie also compare the event to other Halloween offerings and talk through whether families, teens, and non horror fans should consider it. Katie’s biggest takeaway: Halloween Horror Nights is more thrilling than terrifying Why the event is easier to handle than the promotional material makes it seem Who this is best for: Halloween lovers, teens, and date-night couples How the Deathly Afraid necklace works in scare zones, and why Katie didn’t really need it Why walking the edges of scare zones and making eye contact can reduce interactions The event is only at Universal Studios, not Islands of Adventure or Epic Universe How Universal mixes licensed IP with original concepts like Jack and Oddfellow Why Stranger Things 5 is the headliner and one of the most in-demand haunted houses Wait times, express options, and why staying late can cut lines dramatically The surprise standout: Ozzy Osbourne Prince of Darkness as the most frightening house Why Blood Noir feels like a spicy, high-energy date-night show, not a family show The Death Eaters in Diagon Alley as one of the coolest live event elements The case for going just for scare zones, merchandise, food, drinks, and street performances Why the Halloween Horror Nights nighttime spectacular is especially strong this year with Return to Hawkins PLEASE SHARE our new podcast with your Disney-loving friends, leave us 5-star reviews wherever you are listening, and click those FOLLOW & SUBSCRIBE buttons on Spotify or your favorite listening platform! Grumpiest Things About a Disney Trip This episode is a practical, funny look at the seven biggest things that make Disney vacations feel grumpy, especially for families. Aly, Katie, and Karla compare real trip pain points, share what actually helps, and keep coming back to the same theme: preparation makes a huge difference. We discuss packing, early mornings, kid meltdowns, hot weather, long lines and crowds, cost, and transportation. Along the way, the three speakers offer concrete strategies for making the whole experience smoother and less stressful. In this episode, Aly leads the conversation and frames it as the grumpiest installment in their dwarf series, with Katie and Karla each bringing their own real family travel frustrations. Karla shares why Disney packing feels overwhelming, especially when you have to plan for check-in day, park days, pool days, and long trips with multiple outfit changes. Aly explains her Ziploc outfit system, where each day’s clothing is packed together and labeled to reduce morning chaos and forgotten items. The group agrees that Disney mornings are very early, and that rope drop can be worth it but also stressful, especially for families not staying on site. Katie shares how Disney kid meltdowns are almost inevitable and how important it is to have a plan before the meltdown starts, rather than reacting in the moment. Karla adds that parents can have meltdowns too, and that sometimes a family should split up, take a break, or let one parent and child rest while the others keep going. Weather is a major grumpy factor, especially summer heat and sudden Florida rain, and Aly and Karla both stress that the weather should be expected, not treated like a surprise. Long lines and crowds make the list, not just for rides but also for buses, security, food, fireworks viewing, and parade spots. Cost is another huge source of grumpiness, especially food, Lightning Lane spending, souvenirs, and the feeling of being nickel and dimed if you did not plan ahead. The recurring solution across every complaint is the same: plan the right amount, know your limits, and do not overbook yourself into misery. More Magic episode to bring more fun, love, and joy to your week! Aly and Stacy break down what is new at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party for 2026, from entertainment updates to merch, food priorities, and the best ways to dress for the night. If you're planning to go, we give you a fast, practical overview of what matters most so you can spend your time on the shows, characters, and Halloween atmosphere instead of figuring it out on the fly.Aly leads the episode as host, and Stacy adds the guest perspective as a longtime party fan who loves costumes, the parade, and the interactive energy of the event. Together, we focus on the party's biggest draws and on how to choose a costume style that fits your family, friend group, or comfort level. We revisit why Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is worth the ticket, especially for the parade, fireworks, Hocus Pocus, trick-or-treating, and shorter ride waits. We point out that party guests can enter Magic Kingdom at 4:00 p.m. even though the event itself starts at 7:00 p.m., which gives you time to ride attractions before switching into party mode. Aly says the 2026 parade still includes the Headless Horseman, Haunted Mansion dancers, gravediggers, and Captain Jack elements that make it a standout. Stacy shares that the parade is her favorite part too, with the fireworks and Jack Skellington close behind. We highlight a 2026 change for Powerline Max, who no longer appears in the old pre-parade Main Street slot and now performs with his party pack in pop-up locations around the park. Another update we discuss is the replacement of the Disney Junior Jam at Cosmic Ray's with a Descendants-inspired dance party. Aly points out the addition of Captain Jack's Buccaneer Bash in Adventureland, along with more villains appearing throughout the party and trick-or-treat areas. We compare the new popcorn buckets, including the Hatbox Ghost and Headless Horseman options, and remind listeners that party merch can sell out early. A major segment is devoted to costumes, with Aly outlining four broad approaches: matching T-shirts, Disney bounding, parents in simple shirts while kids wear costumes, and fully themed family looks. We encourage guests to dress up in some way, even if it's just a T-shirt or a simple nod to Halloween, because the costume culture is part of what makes the party fun. We share personal costume examples, including Disney bounding as the Seven Dwarfs, a Carousel of Progress grandma look, Toy Story group costumes, and creative homemade costumes like the lamp family. We close by discussing the new cast member costumes and whether the updated look is actually better PLEASE SHARE our new podcast with your Disney-loving friends, leave us 5-star reviews wherever you are listening, and click those FOLLOW & SUBSCRIBE buttons on Spotify or your favorite listening platform! In this episode, Aly, Katie, and Stacy kick off the second installment of their seven part dwarf series with a Sneezy themed breakdown of the most common excuses people give for not going to Disney World. They tackle the fears behind cost, kids, crowds, planning, exhaustion, adult appeal, and the idea that a repeat trip is unnecessary, then compare each one to the actual truth. The conversation is part practical Disney planning advice, part family chat, and part myth busting. If you have ever heard someone say Disney is too expensive, too complicated, or only for kids, this episode is built to help answer those objections with real examples and usable perspective.
