I sat down with Pip from Premier Team Building to talk about workplace culture, leadership and what actually happens when businesses get their people wrong. Pip is a leadership and culture coach who believes there’s no such thing as a “good” or “bad” culture. There’s only culture that’s fit for purpose . And this conversation goes well beyond team-building days and office perks. Pip shares his own experience of spending almost 20 years in an organisation he loved, only to eventually walk away when the culture changed. We talk about what that experience taught him, why losing great people costs businesses far more than their salary, and what leaders can actually do to create environments where people want to stay. We talk about: The real cost of losing good employees Why there’s no such thing as a good or bad culture Hiring people who actually fit the culture you’re building Why great employees don’t automatically make great leaders Creating safety within a team Why knowing your people matters more than expensive perks Team building vs team bonding and why they’re not the same thing Asking for employee feedback — and actually doing something with it Why “clear is kind” when it comes to difficult conversations Pip’s own experience of leaving a culture that had once felt like home How leaders can intentionally build a culture that’s fit for where the business is going Whether you lead two people or 200, this conversation is a good reminder that culture isn’t something you fix with one team-building afternoon. It’s something you’re building every day. Website: https://premierteambuilding.com.au/ Find Premier Team Building on LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube. For years, people told Cody Carroll from Pronto Junk that his dad would be proud of him. But Cody knew there was a period of his life where that wasn’t true. At 19, Cody was on his way towards the professional football career he’d dreamed about since he was a kid. Then his dad was diagnosed with stage four cancer and passed away. Cody lost more than his dad. He lost a huge part of his identity. What followed were years of depression, gambling, drugs and partying, until Cody reached a point where he knew something had to change. In this conversation, Cody shares what it took to start rebuilding his life, getting professional help, understanding his addictions and triggers, and learning that recovery wasn’t always a straight line. We also talk about becoming a dad himself to Hudson, the kind of man he wants his son to grow up watching, and how supporting his partner Jess through postpartum depression and anxiety changed the way he approached both family and business. We talk about: Losing his dad and the identity he’d built around football Depression, gambling, drugs, alcohol and seeking professional help Relapse, recovery and changing the people and environments around him Learning to make himself proud first Fatherhood and becoming a role model for Hudson Jess’s experience with postpartum depression and anxiety Stepping away from the tools and how it helped Pronto Junk grow Why empathy, giving back and zero judgement sit at the heart of Pronto Junk There’s a lot in this conversation about grief, addiction, fatherhood, business and starting again. But perhaps the biggest shift for Cody was this: At first, he wanted to make his dad proud. Now, he wants to make himself proud first. I sat down with Sarah Scully-Leaf in Bali to talk about PTSD, nervous system regulation, capacity and what can happen when we stop trying to think our way through everything. This was a personal conversation for both of us, with Sarah sharing her own experience with PTSD, chronic pain and people pleasing, alongside my experience of PTSD after leaving the Police and the work Sarah and I have been doing together. We talk about: Why Sarah describes your nervous system as a personal security system PTSD, trauma and the limitations we both experienced with talk therapy What it actually means to expand your capacity Breathwork, somatic work and hypnotherapy People pleasing, boundaries and learning to handle discomfort Self-trust and making decisions without constantly seeking validation The small choices that can show us just how much we’ve changed Why Sarah believes life can become greater than we imagine Find Sarah Instagram: @sarahscullyleaf Website: https://sarahscullyleaf.com Have a story you’d love to share or know someone we should sit down with? If I died tomorrow, how much would my three-year-old son actually remember about me? That question has been sitting with me for a while. Archie is only 3 years. And while he’d have photos and people around him who could tell him stories about his mum, the reality is there would probably only be little glimmers of his own memories of me. One day, he might Google my name. And if he does, I want him to find me. My stories, my words, my voice. The things I believed in. The businesses I built. My time in the police. The hard stuff. The funny stuff. How I met his dad. The things I learnt and the things I’d want him to know about his mum. It started with me writing a book for Archie filled with 100 of those stories. And somewhere along the way, I realised how many other people have stories sitting inside them that have never been captured either. That became The 100 Stories Project. A mission to sit down with 100 people and capture the stories, experiences and knowledge that might otherwise never be told. In this solo episode, I share the story behind the project, why Archie is such a big part of it, what I’m building next and the conversations you can expect over the next 100 episodes. **Be part of The 100 Stories Project** Have a story you’d love to share, or know someone I should sit down with? In this episode, I sit down with Emma and Susan from Set for School to unpack what being “school ready” actually means. With my son Archie getting closer to school age, this was a personal conversation about the things many parents wonder about confidence, independence, separation, big emotions and whether we’re doing enough to prepare our kids. We talk about: Why school readiness is about more than academics Building confidence, independence and resilience Separation anxiety and big emotions Simple ways to prepare your child at home The everyday skills that build fine motor strength and independence When to start thinking about school readiness Why parents should trust their instincts Find Set for School Instagram: @setforschoolsyd Book a free trial: www.setforschool.com.au Be part of The 100 Stories Project Have a story you’d love to share or know someone we should sit down with? Guest: Jess Whatman, Founder & CEO of AgentSync Most founders don’t fail at delegation; they fail at the mindset behind it. Jess scaled AgentSync to multi–seven figures in 3 years by hiring Elite VAs & OBMs, not just task-takers. Her team now helps hundreds of businesses reach six figures faster. If you want to save time & create simple marketing, steady sales, and systems you can run in real life this one’s for you. We cover (impactful, no fluff) The mindset shift from “I’ll do it myself” to supported CEO (control → trust → capacity). Elite VA/OBM vs Essential VA: how to choose for your stage and goals. The $10/hr vs $100/hr Task Audit and the first 10 handoffs to free 10–20 hours/week. SOPs in minutes: Loom → ChatGPT to document and delegate without slowing down. Ethical offshoring done right: paying talent well, attracting degree-qualified pros, busting the “cheap admin” myth. A 30/60/90 onboarding plan that builds judgment, not dependence. Boundaries that hold: the “Don’t Decide Dysregulated” rule and a simple reschedule policy. AI + Elite VA: the operating model that compounds leverage (what humans own, what AI supports). Mini-case: how one business went from a project VA to three full-time and finally saw revenue clarity. Why decision relief cost savings; and how to measure the ROI you can actually feel. Building a close-knit support circle (coach, partner, peer masterminds) so you don’t white-knuckle growth. I built a six-figure agency… and then I walked away from it all Launching this show brought up all the wobblies. I changed the cover art two days before go live, questioned my voice, and felt every client’s launch nerves in my own body. In this solo I share a real life update and the story behind closing my six figure creative agency, becoming a solo parent, taking a day job to bridge the gap, then rebuilding a coaching business from zero with systems and support from day one. You’ll hear ● A behind the scenes launch week recap, the jitters, the last-minute art change, and what actually matters when you are in the messy middle ● The truth about my agency’s rapid growth, 26 clients in seven months, six figures fast, and why it still broke without foundations ● The moment everything changed, separation, solo parenting, capacity reality, and giving myself permission to pause ● The rebuild plan, a day job for stability, a VA from day one, an extra daycare day, and designing a business around school pickups, holidays and life ● What I am doing differently now, offers, ops, SOPs, and marketing that is simple enough to run in real life ● Why a day job can be the smartest strategy while you stack proof and rebuild your baseline ● An invitation to watch me rebuild in public so you can borrow the steps Try this next Do a 20 minute Capacity Audit. List what you can actually hold this week across energy, time, money and support. Plan from that number, not from vibes. Pick one system to document. Record a Loom of a repeat task. Drop the transcript into ChatGPT to draft your SOP. Hand it to a VA or future you. Write your permission slip. If a day job keeps you regulated and resourced, it is strategy. Put it in your notes app and read it before you spiral. Guests: Juliet Lever & Paul Elisio; Founders of Evolve & Relaunch You’ve heard “your business is a reflection of you”; but what happens when the version of you running it isn’t evolved enough to handle what you say you want? In this deep, laughter-filled convo with transformation coaches Juliet Lever and Paul Elisio , we unpack why growth stalls when you cling to old programming, how to “embrace the fog” when everything feels uncertain, and what it really takes to become the person your next level requires. You’ll hear: ● Why personal growth and business growth are the same journey (and how to spot when you’ve hit an inner ceiling). ● “Embracing the fog”; how to build safety in the unknown when your nervous system screams nope . ● Why NLP & hypnotherapy are less about “reprogramming” and more about coming home to yourself . ● The 3 most common unconscious patterns keeping coaches stuck: fear of success, fear of failure, and the “not good enough” loop. ● Shadow work in real life; using triggers as teachers (and when it’s actually time to say no). ● Relationships as mirrors: how Juliet & Paul coach each other through blind spots and model conscious partnership in business and love. ● Why your family’s version of you isn’t the current you; and how to hold boundaries without burning bridges. ● The real cost of not doing the inner work; from relationships to revenue. Listen now and remember: your business can only grow to the extent that you do. $100 off Evolve & Relaunch NLP Course Use Code Tash100 Free Resource: https://www.tashmiller.com.au/100kblueprint Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/P1cVwn1KVPc Follow & Connect: Host — @iamtashmiller | @performancestartswithin Guests — @julietlever | @pauleliseo | evolveandrelaunch.com.au New episodes every Friday. If you’ve been stressed for more than seven minutes, you’re not thinking like a CEO; you’re reacting like a seven-year-old. In this raw convo with registered psychologist Kaz Amos , we unpack how chronic stress hijacks your decisions (and your business) and build a baseline you can actually live in. You’ll hear What stress looks like in real life: hyper-independence, defensiveness, forgetfulness, impulse decisions ; and why you don’t notice it. Fight / Flight / Freeze / Fawn in business (spot yours in 60 seconds ). Baseline vs burnout: finding your eustress “sweet spot” so performance goes up while pressure goes down. A simple regulation stack (breath, body, boundaries, outsourcing) you can use this week. Why asking for help is strategy, not weakness (cleaners, daycare, OBMs, VAs as nervous-system supports). Scripts to renegotiate deadlines without burning bridges. How to rebuild capacity after long-term stress or trauma—and the 51% Rule for starting before you feel ready. I’ve launched podcasts for others, spoken on stages, taught rooms… and still nearly cancelled my own studio day . In this raw kickoff, I share how perfectionism, fear of being seen, and my policing past (where you need 100% certainty ) collided; plus the simple mindset shift that got me to press record: the 51% Rule . What’s inside (no timestamps, just impact) Why waiting for 100% certainty keeps coaches stuck (and how my police training fed that pattern). The 51% Rule : what it is and how to use it to launch, sell, or take messy action. Spotting when you want to quit because it’s scary vs. because it isn’t aligned. A 10-minute “Rip the Band-Aid” plan to move through perfectionism and hit publish. Building confidence from evidence (not vibes): tiny wins → Portfolio of Proof. The messy middle I’m committing to document as I rebuild from zero. Try this next Pick one 51% action you can take in the next 24 hours: book the studio, draft a 3-line outline, record a messy first take, or post a “coming soon.” Momentum first, polish later. Welcome to Performance Starts Within , the show for mindset & transformational coaches who want stupidly simple marketing , steady sales, and systems you can run in real life. I’m your host Tash Miller ; former Creative Agency Owner turned Business Strategist . I’ve launched podcasts for others… and still nearly quit starting my own. In this trailer, I share the honest nerves, the evidence-built confidence, and exactly what you can expect every Friday. Starting scared: perfectionism, being seen, and why confidence is built with evidence (not vibes). From frontline policing to high-performance sales: what reading behaviour under pressure taught me about results. The show promise: one story, one simple system, one next step; every episode. My mission: help 100 coaches build to $100K; without losing themselves. If you’re done with hustle theatre and want practical steps you can use this week; boundary scripts, sales by invitation (not pressure), and systems that actually hold ; you’re in the right place. I’m documenting the messy middle as I rebuild, so you get the real thing, not the highlight reel.
