In this episode of The Art of Her , Lucy sits down with Anastasiia Prodous of Anastasiia Prodous Photography, celebrated for her timeless, fine art approach to maternity and motherhood photography. Anastasiia never set out to become a photographer. What began as a mother on maternity leave wanting to capture beautiful images of her son, grew into the incredible artist we watch go from strength to strength today. We chat about everything from her recent photography workshops across Europe, her Light and Lines photography course, her signature black and white images and how she approaches and works with light. Ana also shares plenty of wisdom about staying true to your own artistic voice, trusting your creative instincts and understanding what really matters when it comes to photography. This is an inspiring conversation about artistic growth, learning to see beyond the technicalities and having the confidence to create work that feels distinctly your own.
What is the difference between prompting and posing, how do they effect the overall look and feel of your image and how do you know when to use each? In this episode of The Art of Her , I’m sharing how I approach prompting and posing in maternity and motherhood photography, and how I use both to create imagery that feels natural, emotive and ethereal, or more deliberately editorial. I explore how to choose your direction based on your client, location, wardrobe and creative vision, before walking you through my prompting and posing workflow. I share my favourite prompts and poses I regularly use during a photoshoot, and the specific details I pay particular attention to. Tune in for practical inspiration, creative direction and a fresh perspective on the way you guide the women in front of your camera. Whether you’re drawn to soft, candid imagery or bold, editorial portraits, this episode will help you approach your sessions with greater intention and confidence, and give you new ideas to bring into your own work. P.S. I’m also considering creating a visual prompting and posing guide, stay close to be the first to know when that drops.
What does it take to create truly editorial imagery? In this episode of The Art of Her , I’m joined by Camille Hulm, the photographer behind Camille Hulm Photography, known for her fashion-led, editorial approach to maternity and motherhood photography. Camille shares the journey behind her signature style and the influences that have shaped her work that she is known for today. We explore what makes an image feel truly editorial, how to transform a single idea into a fully realised concept, and how to bring your own creative perspective to something that has already been done before. Beyond the artistry, we have an honest conversation about imposter syndrome, creative blocks, burnout, and the importance of community over competition. Camille is also the creator of The Editorial Mother Handbook , a 100-page practical guide to her approach to styling, photographing, editing and so much more. Tune in for a conversation full of creative insight, inspiration and a fresh perspective on your own artistry.

Verity shares what makes each fabric unique, how to recognise beautiful drape and what to look for when choosing fabrics for maternity and motherhood photography sessions. We talk about weight, texture, movement and how different materials respond to wind, light, body shape and the environment. I also share how I use fabric within my own work, from backlit maternity silhouettes to more intimate motherhood imagery. Fabric is such a key part of my creative work, and learning to understand it better has been incredibly helpful when bringing a vision to life. I hope this conversation gives you a new insight into fabric and the role it can play in creating beautiful, intentional imagery. Take a listen. In this episode, I’m joined by the lovely Kristi Harley, a maternity and newborn photographer from Newcastle, Australia. Kristi has had a lasting impact on my creative journey, and in this episode, I share the story of the ways she has shaped it. We talk about finding calm in photography, creating beautiful images without overcomplicating posing, navigating motherhood alongside business, learning to say no to the right things, and building a photography business that feels good to live inside. We also dive into mentoring, printed photographs, and why the people who shape our creative journeys often influence us in ways we don’t realise at the time. And a little full-circle moment? Kristi is also the photographer behind my podcast cover art. 🤎
In this episode of The Art of Her , we’re talking about imposter syndrome. That familiar voice that can make you question your talent, your experience and whether you really belong in the room. But what if you’ve simply been looking at yourself through the wrong lens? I’m unpacking where imposter syndrome shows up in photography, how comparison and perfectionism can feed it, and the difference between genuinely having more to learn and using “I’m not good enough yet” as a reason to hold yourself back. This is essential listening if you’ve ever questioned whether you are talented enough, experienced enough, or ready enough. By the end of this episode, I want you to have a clearer way to recognise when your own thinking is holding you back, a stronger ability to back yourself, and the permission to move forward without hiding behind the label of imposter syndrome. Because you don’t need to feel completely confident before you begin. Sometimes, you just need to trust yourself enough to take the next step.
