In 2004 I lost my youngest brother, moved from Venezuela to Spain and married Daniela. Grief came with me through all of it, and I spent a long time trying to outrun it. Then Daniela invited me to an early morning Kundalini Yoga sadhana. I complained about the hour, judged the white clothes, and almost walked out. I stayed, and during the chanting I started to cry. This episode is about that morning, about recognising that something matters before you understand it, and about not having to carry things alone. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. How do you make time for yourself when everyone else always comes first? For Daniela Troconis, the answer started with Kundalini Yoga, and with admitting that "I don't have time" was a lie she had lived by for years. In this episode of The Imagine Podcast, Daniela talks about how putting yourself last starts as an emergency and ends up becoming the way you live. She shares what Kundalini Yoga gave back to her, why one class wasn't enough, and why she kept going with the Kundalini Yoga teacher training year after year. You'll hear about prana and the breath as a simple way to understand giving and receiving, why waiting for life to calm down rarely works, and the first sign that something is changing when you finally put yourself back on your own list. If you keep telling yourself "next year," this one's for you. ::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. Why do you feel so different after a Kundalini Yoga class, without being able to explain why? Why do you feel so different after a Kundalini Yoga class, without being able to explain why? Part of it starts in the posture itself, in what happens when it gets hard. This episode looks at the five elements at work in every class: asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, and mudra, and gets specific about one of them, what a hard posture can show you about yourself once you actually pay attention. Pedro Misle tells the story of what he noticed, and what it changed. If you've ever left a class wondering what just happened, this episode gets you closer to an answer. 🎁 If Something in your life no longer feels right, even if you can’t name exactly what, we have a free gift for you! You know the job that looks perfect on paper, the one everyone says you're lucky to have, and still leaves you running on empty. Daniela used to run to make her eight o'clock Kundalini Yoga class after long days at a design job like that. In this episode, she talks about the year that class was the one thing that made sense, and about a disconnection from herself she didn't have a name for yet. Not a lesson on technique, just the story of what she was really looking for on that mat every night, and how Kundalini Yoga became her way back to herself. If you've ever wondered what you're actually looking for underneath everything you do, this one's for you. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. Most of us know what it feels like to be somewhere and not really be there, at dinner while thinking about work, listening to someone while already planning what to say next. In this episode, Pedro closes out the series on Patanjali's eight limbs of yoga with the final three: Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi, attention, meditation, and the quiet dissolving of the sense of "me watching this happen." He talks through what concentration actually looks like when you're bad at it (which is most of us), why meditation was never about having no thoughts, and what it means to notice an emotion before it makes your decisions for you. This isn't abstract philosophy. It's a practical look at where your attention goes every day, and what shifts when you start paying attention to that. Part of Imagine Yoga Academy's series on the philosophy we learn about in our Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. "How do I find peace when I feel overwhelmed?" It's one of the questions Daniela's students ask her most in one way or another in the Kundalini Yoga Trainings. In this episode of The Imagine Podcast, she answers it through Pratyahara, the fifth limb of yoga, often translated as withdrawal of the senses. Using the image of a tree, where all the visible beauty above ground depends entirely on roots no one ever sees, she explores what we're really feeding ourselves through what we watch, what we listen to, who we spend time with. Drawing on Patanjali's Sutras and a teaching from Thich Nhat Hanh, Daniela shares how gently gathering our attention back inward, and tending our roots instead of just our branches, can be the beginning of real peace. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. This episode is about Pranayama, the fourth step on Patanjali's eightfold path, and why it's less about breathing technique and more about where your energy actually goes all day. Pedro Misle walks through why exhaustion is rarely about the work itself, why you have to know what's relevant in your life before you can manage your energy at all, and why honesty might be the cheapest thing you can spend all week. There's also a look at what the research actually says about slow breathing and your nervous system, and a short practice for the next time your mind is somewhere else while your body is sitting right in front of someone you love. Most people come to yoga through a posture. A class at a gym, a video, a friend who dragged them along. They show up thinking asana is yoga — and in a way, that's a perfect place to start. In this episode we explore Asana, the third limb of Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga. Not as a set of shapes to copy, but as an energetic invitation — a practice ground for learning how to meet yourself with steadiness and ease. We talk about the Sanskrit roots of the word, the sutra Sthira Sukham Asanam, what the mat reveals about how we handle challenge and change, and why in Kundalini Yoga we practice with eyes closed. The posture is the direction. You find your own way there. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. There's a phrase that came to Pedro in Amritsar and hasn't left him since: I need a place to rest my head. Not the body. The head, where the ego lives, plans, calculates, and tries to control everything. Ishvara Pranidhana is the fifth and final Niyama in Patanjali's system. It asks you to act fully, show up completely, and then release your grip on the result. Not passivity. Not blind faith. Something more demanding than both. In this episode, Pedro talks about the need for control and why it eventually costs more than it gives back. About a real form of optimism that doesn't deny what happened but asks: what do I do from here? About the difference between being the author of your life and being a co-author. And about his own lifelong pattern, the Pranic Body, Karma number 8, and what it feels like when everything seems to rest on your shoulders. This is also the final episode of the Yamas and the Niyamas series. Pedro closes with a reflection on what these ten principles are together, not a checklist, but a foundation. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. What does a crisis reveal about who you really are? This week, Daniela reflects on Svadhyaya — the fourth niyama and the yoga practice of honest self-observation — from a deeply personal place. Days after two major earthquakes struck Venezuela, she sits with the grief, the impotence, and the question that surfaces for so many people carrying a country inside them: why us, why again? Svadhyaya isn't comfortable. It doesn't promise peaceful discoveries. But it offers something more valuable: the capacity to witness yourself clearly in the middle of chaos — without judgment, without collapsing. In this episode you'll learn what Svadhyaya means in Kundalini Yoga, how the concept of Sakshi (witness consciousness) works as a practical tool under pressure, and a specific Kundalini Yoga meditation for stress and sudden shock that you can try today. For anyone sitting with something hard right now — this one is for you. Tapas is the third Niyama in Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga. It is commonly translated as discipline. But the teachers left us something deeper than that. In this episode, Pedro Misle explores Tapas as the inner fire that makes you want to be here. Not motivated in the productivity sense. Not disciplined in the punishing sense. Alive in the fullest sense. Engaged with the journey. Curious about what's possible. Unwilling to let the days pass without really being in them. What you'll explore in this episode: • Why Tapas may be the epicenter of the entire Eight Limbs path, and what falls apart without it • The difference between happiness, gratitude, and genuine engagement with your own life • Why the absence of excitement, not sadness or burnout, is the real warning sign • Three honest, practical ways to tend your inner fire starting today • How the Niyamas build on each other: from Saucha and Santosha to Tapas This episode is part of an ongoing series on the Eight Limbs of Yoga, exploring how Patanjali's ancient framework applies to modern life — attention fragmentation, compulsive productivity, emotional avoidance, and the quiet human need to feel genuinely alive.Tapas in Kundalini Yoga is not about intensity for its own sake. It is about the willingness to show up for your own life, repeatedly, honestly, and with full presence. One question runs through this entire episode: Are you excited to be alive? Not happy. Not grateful in a performative sense. Engaged. Curious about how deep the rabbit hole goes. Press play and sit with that question. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy Imagine Yoga Academy is a Kundalini Yoga school founded by Daniela Troconis and Pedro Misle, training teachers internationally since 2012. We spend a lot of time waiting for the right conditions before allowing ourselves to feel at peace. I'll relax when. I'll be happy when. I'll feel complete when. But the finish line keeps moving. And before we know it, our peace becomes entirely dependent on circumstances we can't control. In this episode, we explore Santosha — the second of the five Niyamas in Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga — often translated as contentment. Not complacency. Not passivity. But the practice of returning to the part of you that remains whole regardless of what life brings. We also look at what Santosha is not: it doesn't ask us to approve of suffering, ignore loss, or stop acting in the face of injustice. It simply points us back to something beneath all of that. Something that cannot be touched by success or failure, by praise or criticism, by what we gain or what we lose. Santoṣād anuttamaḥ sukha-lābhaḥ — through Santosha comes unsurpassed happiness. Not because life becomes perfect. But because we stop searching for lasting peace in what is constantly changing. This episode is part of our ongoing series on the Eight Limbs of Yoga — a practical exploration of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras through the lens of Kundalini Yoga and modern life. In this episode: What Santosha really means — and what it doesn't Why contentment is not the same as resignation How the mantras Sat Nam and Sa Ta Na Ma connect to this teaching The difference between circumstantial peace and inner stability How Kundalini Yoga practice supports the cultivation of Santosha :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. Every morning you clean your body. You tidy the house. You wipe the phone screen on your sleeve without thinking. What almost no one realizes is that these small acts already belong to one of yoga's oldest practices. Saucha — the first of the five Niyamas — means purity. Not in any moral sense, but as plain cleanliness: the body, the space around you, the words that come out of your mouth, and the mind itself. In this episode, Pedro traces that path from the outside in, including a personal practice that started with something as simple as dropping the swearing. The episode also explores digital noise as the modern form of inner clutter, and offers three concrete ways to practice Saucha this week. Aparigraha is the last of the Yamas, the ethical foundations of yoga, and it's interesting that minimalism points in the same direction, the hidden cost of the things you own. Aparigraha translates as "not taking more than you need," but it runs much deeper than what's in your cupboards. In this episode, Daniela explores it as a practice of trust: trusting that you're already complete, that nothing external is going to deliver the wholeness you feel is missing, because there is no missing piece. She looks at how the same grasping shows up everywhere, in the things we buy, in the need for the perfect pose on the mat, and in the old stories and beliefs we keep long after they've finished their cycle. She closes with a simple practice to try this week, and an honest reminder that this is an ongoing path, not a finish line, the way Kundalini Yoga teaches consistency over perfection. She gets into the idea of the "hidden tax" every possession charges you, why the joy of buying never lasts, and how aparigraha is really about trust, trusting you're already complete, with no missing piece to buy. There's a simple practice at the end: one drawer, one honest question. If you've been feeling weighed down by your own stuff, this one might land. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. Most people hear the word Brahmacharya and think celibacy. Repression. Some ancient rule designed to make life smaller. But Brahmacharya is the fourth of the Yamas, the personal disciplines at the foundation of yoga philosophy, and it's pointing at something far more relevant than celibacy. It's pointing at energy. All of it. Where your life force is going, and whether you're actually choosing that. In this episode, Pedro Misle explores what Brahmacharya really means in modern life: the difference between discipline and suppression, why attention has become the most fragmented resource we have, and what it looks like to practice energy conservation without becoming rigid or self-punishing. This isn't about wanting less. It's about choosing more consciously. If you've been feeling scattered lately, tired in a way that doesn't quite make sense, this one might land somewhere useful. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. What does it mean to truly not steal? Asteya — the third Yama in yoga's ethical framework, starts with the obvious: don't take what isn't yours. But the deeper layers are where things get interesting. In this episode, Daniela explores the subtler forms of stealing we rarely talk about: copying someone else's way of being until we lose our own, and the one that stops us completely: stealing from ourselves by living anywhere but the present moment. Inspired by the words of Venezuelan political prisoner Perkins Rocha, who spoke about becoming superior to his own sorrows, this episode connects the ancient teaching of Asteya to what we actually practice every time we hold a Kundalini Yoga kriya, staying present inside difficulty without letting it take what's ours. There's a kind of tiredness that has nothing to do with how much you slept. It shows up after a day of being slightly off from yourself, saying yes when you meant no, smiling when you didn't agree, managing your way through conversations instead of being in them. By evening you're exhausted, and you can't quite explain why. In this episode, Pedro goes deep into S atya , the second yama, and pushes past the surface translation of "don't lie" into something far more demanding and far more useful. He shares the moment Satya finally caught up with him, a rehearsal room in 2012, a band, and a sentence he didn't plan to say. Through Patanjali's Yoga Sutra II.36, the science of Naad , and a metaphor borrowed from physics, he reframes satya as the practice of becoming a coherent wave: the gap between what you perceive, feel, say and do, and the energetic cost of leaving that gap open. For anyone in transition, anyone exhausted by a life that doesn't quite fit anymore, anyone curious about what Kundalini Yoga actually means by "truth is my identity." ::::: At Imagine Yoga Academy we help people reconnect with their essence, unlock their potential, and live with authenticity through the wisdom of Kundalini Yoga. Have you ever snapped at someone you love and spent the rest of the day carrying that weight? Or pushed your body past its limits and called it discipline? Today we explore ahimsa, non-violence, the first of the five yamas and the first ethical commitment on the eight-limbed path of yoga. This episode is not about the obvious stuff. It's about the more quiet ways we cause harm, in our words, our thoughts, our actions, and how yoga invites us to look at the whole picture. Daniela shares her personal agreement with Pedro, her experience as a vegetarian, and three journaling questions to help you explore where non-violence might take root in your own life. Continuing the series on the eight limbs of yoga. :::::: About Imagine Yoga Academy We are Pedro and Daniela, co-founders of Imagine Yoga Academy. Most people think yoga starts on the mat. It doesn't. In this episode, Pedro introduces the Eight Limbs of yoga, the ancient map from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras that has been quietly organizing this practice for thousands of years. Not as philosophy, not as theory, but as a living checkpoint system you can actually use when life gets blurry. This is the opening episode of a new series. You'll get a clear overview of all eight limbs — from the Yamas (how you meet the world) to Samadhi (loving and respecting all of it) — and a simple practice to take with you this week before the series goes deeper. If you've been practicing for a while and something still feels like it's missing, this map might be what you've been looking for. ::::: At Imagine Yoga Academy we help people reconnect with their essence, unlock their potential, and live with authenticity through the wisdom of Kundalini Yoga. When life gets heavy, the first thing we do is start removing things. We cancel the dinner. We drop the hobby. We say no to the trip. We tell ourselves we're simplifying. And sometimes that's exactly right. But there's a moment when removing becomes shrinking, when we're not making life lighter, we're making it smaller so we don't have to feel as much. When the world we're living in no longer fits the person we actually are. In this 13-minute episode, Daniela shares her own experience of reaching that moment and the realization that the answer wasn't to keep taking things away. It was to expand her capacity to hold them. Through the practice of Kundalini Yoga, its kriyas, breathwork, mantra, and meditation, she explores what it means to become genuinely stronger. By training the nervous system to hold more, feel more, and live more fully. Not by forcing. Not by pushing through. This is not a productivity episode. It is not about doing more. It is about becoming someone who no longer needs the world to be smaller in order to survive it. 🎧 This episode is for you if: You've been cancelling things and calling it self-care You feel like you're managing life rather than living it You've simplified everything you can, and still feel heavy Something in you knows the answer isn't less, it's different ⸻ Mentioned in this episode: Kundalini Yoga kriyas and pranayama for nervous system regulation The difference between simplifying and shrinking What genuine strength feels like and how to build it ⸻ If something in this episode landed, our 200h Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in Zürich, Geneva & Lugano begins in October 2026.
