Author Ken Snyder joins Barrett Freeman, Billy Hubbard, and Tera Padgett on PropertyTales to talk about why he wrote Stable Recovery: How Horses Transform Homeless Men Into Horsemen. The book, published by Purdue University Press, tells the story of Stable Recovery at Taylor Made Farms in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Horseman Frank Taylor and Christian Countzler paired homeless men in addiction with thoroughbreds, giving them a place to live and real work in the barn. Snyder wrote it after seeing the program work, including a claimed 90-day sobriety rate far above the national average for live-in rehab. He walks through how the idea started, why he put the men’s stories on the page, and what he hopes the book does for recovery programs and the horse industry. Tell them PropertyTales sent you. We took the Cybertruck, turned on Autopilot / Full Self-Driving, and drove it through a graveyard in Eastern Kentucky just to see what the software would pick up. Me, Johnathan, and Payton loaded up the cameras and let the truck do its thing. Tesla’s system is built to detect cars, people, animals, and objects… but what happens when it starts flagging things that aren’t standing there? We tested it, walked the spots it highlighted, and tried to figure out if it was headstones, shadows, a glitch, or something else. This is a PropertyTales special. No studio. Professional boxing and MMA referee Todd Murray joins Barrett Freeman on PropertyTales to talk about what it’s really like to officiate the Redneck Brawl. Todd is an ABC-certified official, a Tennessee and South Carolina Athletic Commission referee and judge, and an ISKA event representative. He’s the guy in the ring when the Brawl gets wild — first-time fighters, slobberknockers, and crowds that don’t sit still. He walks through how you keep a Redneck Brawl fight under control, the difference between a sanctioned amateur card and a regular boxing or MMA show, and the nights that stick with him after the bell. #PropertyTales #ToddMurray #RedneckBrawl #ISKA #Boxing #MMA Support the show
Lexington immigration attorney Heather Hadi joins Barrett Freeman on PropertyTales to talk about the electric shock gloves ICE is buying — and the Kentucky company that makes them. ICE awarded a multi-million-dollar contract for thousands of G.L.O.V.E. devices (Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter) from Compliant Technologies. The gloves look like regular patrol gloves until an officer hits a switch. On skin contact they deliver an electric shock meant to force compliance during arrests, transports, and disturbances. Heather and Barrett cover what the gloves actually do, how they differ from a Taser, why ICE says it needs them, and why the purchase has drawn so much pushback. Because the manufacturer is based in Kentucky, this one hits close to home. This episode is just Barrett and Heather — no co-hosts. #PropertyTales #HeatherHadi #ICE #Kentucky #Lexington Support the show
