"It doesn't have to be perfect in order for it to be beautiful. It doesn't have to be perfect in order for it to be special. It doesn't have to be perfect in order for it to be memorable. It's not about everything being perfect. It's about everyone being together and making memories. Focus on being present, not perfect." - Stephanie Booe The holidays can bring on a whole new level of stress, making us feel inadequate if we don't have picture perfect table scapes or photo worthy trips to the pumpkin patch. If you're already starting to feel the pressure of the holiday season, then go ahead and hit play because this episode is going to be a breath of fresh air. As you listen, you'll be encouraged to step away from consumer culture and the pressure to overspend, overcommit, and oversaturate your holiday season with unnecessary "stuff." Instead, you'll be inspired to have slower and more intentional holidays with simple traditions that are geared towards bringing you together as a family. Running out of ideas or feeling like you have no idea where to start? No worries, mama. I have you covered. I have a full list of easy, yet effective ideas to help you intentionally pour into your family from October to December. Somewhere along the way, we all got so caught up in overcommitting and overspending during the holiday season. We don't want to get to January feeling like we just ran a full marathon, exhausted and wondering how much money we spent. Instead, I'm bringing a new perspective to the table and I'm challenging our perspective on what really matters during this time. If you've ever felt the unnecessary pressure to create the most magical holiday for your family or your kids, this conversation will help you to feel seen and heard, while guiding you into a new way of holiday living and helping you to maximize your joy this season. In today's episode, I had the amazing privilege to talk with my friend- Kayla Heeter. Kayla Heeter is a birth doula and birth coach who is passionate about all things birth! The knowledge, wisdom, and encouragement that she shares in this episode is so good and if you are a fellow birth lover- this episode is for you! This episode kicks off by Kayla sharing how she became fascinated with birth and how she started her own business. We talk about the difference between a birth doula and birth coach, followed by what their roles look like before, during, and after a birth. We also touch on what it truly looks like to have a surrendered birth and how she guides her couples to release control so they can fully experience all God has to offer them in the birth of their baby. This part is going to blow your mind because it certainly did for me- we also talk about fertility doulas and their role for a couple who is struggling to conceive and going through treatments such as IUI or IVF. In today's episode, we are having a very real and relatable conversation about motherhood after infertility. One thing about infertility- it doesn't stop. It continues into your days of motherhood and it can be something we all still struggle with in one way or another. Another thing about infertility and motherhood after infertility is that it can be a lonely experience because it's one of those things that people don't really understand unless they've been through it themselves. That being said, I will not let you leave here feeling alone today! I'm sharing five big things that I struggle with as a mom after infertility and my goal with this episode is to help you feel seen and encouraged in your journey. As I share these things that I've struggled with, I also pair it with things that I've done (or am doing) to help me work through the struggle. You'll leave here feeling encouraged (because there's a lot of mom pep-talks happening too!) and seen no matter where you are in your journey! I'm excited to have you here and to continue breaking stigmas together. Grab your coffee or hot cocoa and meet me on the couch, it's time to get messy! In today's episode, I had the incredible honor of inviting Dr. Kim Snider to come sit in my living room and share her story through chiropractic care, breast cancer, and pregnancy loss. In the beginning of this episode, we begin by learning from Dr. Kim's wisdom on all things chiropractic care. She's the founder of her own chiropractic practice and she walks us through the journey of what led her to be a chiropractor, benefits of being regularly adjusted, how a chiropractic adjustment can benefit everyone from newborn babies to an older generation, and how you can find a reliable chiropractor in your area. In the second half of the episode, Dr. Kim shares her personal journey through her breast cancer diagnosis followed by her pregnancy loss. She takes us step by step of what this journey looked like for her and how she found healing in every stage of her story. Her story is a powerful testimony of healing, starting with her work at the chiropractic clinic and into her own personal story. This episode is a full of golden nuggets that I know will resonate with all of us and encourage us in some area of our life. This is one of my favorite interviews I've done to date and I'm honored to be able to have Dr.Kim on the show today, I think you're going to love her just as much as I do. In today's episode, I'm sharing our "why" behind our decision to homeschool our kids and what this looks like for us moving forward. In order to share this part of our journey, you also have to understand what got us to this decision in the first place. So, not only am I taking you along for the reason behind why we decided to homeschool, but I'm also taking you along the journey of my own career as a teacher and how that had a part in us making this decision. I share a lot of resources in this episode and you can find them below, too! For this episode, you asked and we answered! For a special finale episode to season two, I wanted to do a Q + A with my husband- Alex. So I asked my audience on social media what they thought about the idea and they answered with a resounding "YES!" So everyone submitted questions and this episode consists fully of the questions they asked and us answering them honestly, right off the cuff. In this episode we talk about how the transition from couple to parents, how to manage the "roommate" phase, marriage counseling, infertility, and so much more. This was a really fun episode to record and our goal with this episode is to make it feel like we are sitting together in the living room talking through all of the different things that come up with marriage. You'll leave this episode knowing that we are two goofy, imperfect people trying really hard to make marriage work. You'll also leave feeling encouraged and inspired in your own journey, ready to share this episode with your spouse! June is World Infertility Awareness Month and in honor of that, I wanted to bring a real and relatable conversation to the show where we could openly talk about all of the moments we don't normally talk about. Infertility is hard and it can often feel lonely and isolating. I know this because I've lived it and it's been some of the hardest moments of my entire life. When people think of infertility they probably think it's a devastating experience, but don't really or truly understand what it actually *looks* like. In today's episode, we're pulling back the curtain and talking about the moments you don't see. The crying in the bathroom, the praying during sex, the breakdown in the car on the way to a friend's baby shower - all of the moments where you feel utterly alone. I'm here to tell you today that you are not alone and you don't have to go through this alone. This episode is to help the infertile community to feel seen while helping the fertile community to better understand. If any of this is resonating with you already, then hit play because this episode is for you. I've got my coffee and I'm ready to welcome you when you're ready because it's time to get messy. I know there's a lot of pressure around summer right now and feeling like we have to show up and do it all in order to create magical memories for our kids. In this episode, we are debunking this myth and, instead, leaning into a slower summer with our kids. This whole episode sparked by the realization that every time I opened social media, I saw some sort of "summer theme" being pushed at me. Whether it was a "hot mom summer," " 90s mom summer," "butter mom summer," and so on. I've been thinking about this a lot and instead of finding a theme that resonates with what I want to do this summer, I decided to just have a "summer" summer with my kids. One where we release the pressure to show up and perform like a cruise director every minute of every day. Instead, I'm going to put my phone down, turn on the hose, open a popsicle, throw water balloons with my kids, and forget the rest. Let this episode be your permission slip to slow down this summer and really spend some intentional time with your kids doing simple things with big meaning like serving ice cream for breakfast on a random Tuesday or sitting in a field looking at stars one summer night. We talk about this all and more in this week's episode so grab your drink of choice and meet me on the couch, it's time to get messy! In today's episode, I got to sit down and have an extended conversation with Jamie Glowacki- the Mary Poppins of parenting and potty training! Go ahead and save this episode because you're going to want to come back to this again and again. Today we're talking about how social media impacts our parenting, potty training, parenting hot takes, and so much more. Before our conversation, I gathered a handful of questions from my community on Instagram and I brought them up in our conversation so Jamie could give us her perspective. Not only did she answer in the question in thorough detail, but she also gave us a bunch of examples and tools to help us to move forward confidently in our parenting. This is the parenting advice and encouragement every parent needs to hear. I've listened to this many times as it went through editing and every time I listen, I learn something new! I cannot say enough about this episode and I know you're going to love it so go listen and be sure to share it with your spouse and your mom friends! In February of this year, my husband and I experienced a failed embryo transfer and it was absolutely devastating. We didn't know what to do, what to grieve, or how to move forward with our protocol. Now that we are a few months out from this experience, I can confidently say that we've learned a lot, grieved a lot, cried a lot, and grown a lot. It's one of the hardest things we've ever been through and unfortunately, there aren't a lot of resources or support out there to help those who go through this which is a big reason why I wanted to bring this conversation to the podcast. In today's episode we're going to be talking about six things I wish we would've known before having a failed transfer in hopes to make others feel less alone. We'll also talk about how you can cope through this or support someone going through it. Grab some tissues and meet me on the couch- it's time to get messy. Mother's Day is coming soon and as special as this holiday is, it also comes with a lot of emotions that can be so hard for so many people. For the sake of today's conversation, we focus mainly on the aspect of infertility and those who are struggling to conceive. For the infertility community, Mother's Day is a day that feels really unfair. You feel like your locked out of a club that everyone else is invited too and with the constant reminders all around you, it just feels like a giant punch to the gut. If any of this resonates with you, I want you to know that you're not alone and in this episode we're going to talk about it all. We're going to talk about what makes Mother's Day so hard, why so many people find it so triggering, how you can take care of yourself in this time, and how you can support a friend or family member who might be struggling this year. It's a very real and intentional conversation. It's not an easy thing to talk about, but it's one of those things that needs to be talked about so we're doing that here.
