Australian jazz bassist Michael Mear, started out on the Sydney jazz scene before moving to Paris at 19 to chase his music further. There he studied at IMEP and the Conservatoire de Montreuil with renowned jazz musicians and teachers including Rick Margitza, Peter Giron, Christopher Culpo, Bernard Vidal, Stéphane Payen and Malo Vallois. Paris became home for several years, with Michael playing regularly around the city's jazz scene, from it's prestigious jazz clubs to festivals right across France with various jazz groups. With the group Sans Elle he won the Jazz en Baie festival competition, and he went on to reach the finals of several other competitions in France and around Europe. Since returning to Australia in 2016, Michael has played with a wide range of musicians around Sydney across styles from jazz to rock, blues and roots, including Ruby Tuesdays and currently, Sacred Crows. He also leads the critically acclaimed jazz trio Waveteller, with pianist Casey Golden and drummer EdRodrigues, and the trio is currently preparing to release its third studio album. Electric X is a five-piece indie funk rock band from Wollongong who deliver high-energy live performances driven by infectious grooves and electrifying stage presence. Electric X has built a strong local following across the Illawarra and is now expanding into Sydney. Last year Electric X were the winners of the battle of the bands competition at the University of Wollongong. Since then they have entertained crowds across many venues in Wollongong including TBH and La La La's. Fans can expect a sound reminiscent of Balu Brigada, DICE and Cat Empire. Silvia Lane is a four piece indie rock band from Shellharbour, NSW. The band first formed in Spring 2023 when the founding members Jack Micallef and Jake Sutton started playing together in the music rooms of their high school. After releasing two singles in 2024, the two boys began working on their debut EP, during this time they invited Kylan Daffy and Adrian Kospic to the group. Kayne Micallef is the lead singer of The Vandastruts who are a four piece rock and roll band based in the south of Sydney and north of Wollongong, they are made up of twins Kane and Tye Hines, Kayne Micallef and Will Caniles. They are heavily influenced by old records dating back to the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's with the likes of blues, rock and grunge. Forming the group in March of 2020 releasing their first two singles Words of wisdom and Spencer Street in less then a year. They have also released an EP titled REVIVAL, and they're brand new single Coloured TV. They have played a number of headliner gigs around Sydney and Wollongong playing venues such as Oxford Art Factory and Frankies Pizza also supporting bands like Kingswood, Mi sex, Ray Beadle and Le Shiv. They are bringing the old rock sounds but with their own unique style back into a young audience, but also pleasing the older generation with their very high energy stage presence, ripping guitar solos, big drum solos and huge vocals. The release of Oh Beautiful in June 2025 marked the beginning of a new creative era for Val Moogz, launching a series of singles showcasing their evolving sound and growing depth as a songwriter. In October 2025, they released Ride Round the Sun, accompanied by live audio and video captured at Four Winds in Bermagui, NSW. The track was the first instalment in a four-part EP waterfall release and was launched alongside their Wanderer Festival performance. Earlier singles “Gypsy”, “The Sea” and “With You” have been supported by local radio and independent touring, including a 2022 Australian East Coast launch tour and North Coast runs in 2023 and 2024. Val Moogz began performing as a teenager in Sydney under their birth name, Hannah Matysek. A graduate of the Talent Development Project, they’ve recorded with Sony Music and shared stages with some of Australia’s most respected artists. Ky and Tom are members of ONIERA, an indie rock band based in Engadine on Dharawal Country. Formed in 2023, ONIERA blends dreamy, jangly guitars with jagged grooves and soaring R&B-inspired harmonies, creating a dynamic live sound that moves through a wide range of moods and emotions. Since forming, the band has sold out shows in both Sydney and Wollongong, toured the East Coast twice, and supported artists including Pacific Avenue, Letters to Lions, Salarymen and Vlads. ONIERA is currently preparing to release their second EP at the end of the year. Ky and Tom are both guitarists and two of the band’s four songwriters, playing key roles in shaping the sound and songwriting of the upcoming release. Dean Nash (he/him) is a singer-songwriter, actor, writer and award-winning theatre maker. He co-wrote the 2021 concept musical The Breaths in Between and was the recipient of the Commitment and Innovation in Accessibility Award at Sydney Fringe 2025 for his most recent work, Dean, Don’t Dance! - a Creative Access cabaret blending Dean’s love of storytelling, soaring melodies, tongue-in-cheek lyricism and accessibility-driven art into one bubbling musical pot. Dean’s EP In the Autumn and most recent single, Leather Wallet , are available on all streaming platforms. Dean studied a Bachelor of Music at WU in 2011, completed a Musical Theatre residency at NIDA in 2016, and is an alumnus of the 2021 AFTRS Talent Camp for emerging writers.
