If you've ever wondered what those little round Great Taste badges are that appear on all kinds of food and drink products, this is the podcast for you! Most people don't realise the badges can't be bought, they don't belong to any supermarket chain, and they're not a cynical attempt to make you buy a product off the shelf. They are in fact awarded to exceptional products but only after they've been independently blind tasted by expert judges. We take you behind the scenes of this rigorous judging process to discover the meaning behind those black and gold labels. We'll also talk to food producers about what Great Taste means to them, how it has impacted their businesses, and whether it's affected the food they make. We reveal some of the challenges and best practices when it comes to making and selling food, and importantly why some food and drink costs more than the mass produced alternatives. Our journey culminates in the Golden Fork Awards held annually to recognise the producers who have created 3-star products. Along the way we'll hear from some of the hopefuls and the ultimate winners. This podcast is about the importance of good quality food, not just for us as consumers but for our economy, our health and our land, not to mention our taste buds.
