In this episode of Another Bloody Podcast, Share the Dignity Founder Rochelle Courtenay is joined by former NRL player, author and BookTok sensation Luke Bateman to talk about challenging traditional masculinity, embracing vulnerability and why everyone deserves to live with dignity. Growing up, Luke learned to hide his sensitive side in a world that expected boys to be tough. Now, he believes we can change the story of what it means to be a man and create a safer, healthier world for everyone. He shares why education is essential to becoming a better ally, including when it comes to menstrual equity, and why men have an important role to play in breaking down stigma. Luke also shares the story behind the It’s in the Bag Mum & Bub Bag he put together with his mum, taking us through the essentials they chose and reading the heartfelt Dear Her note he wrote for the mother who will receive it. Drawing on the impact his own mother’s love has had on his life, Luke offers a moving reminder of how meaningful it can be to help someone feel supported, valued and cared for. Join us for this thoughtful episode of Another Bloody Podcast as Luke reflects on vulnerability, using your position to lift others up, and how small acts of kindness can help create a more dignified world for all. In this episode of Another Bloody Podcast, Share the Dignity Founder, Rochelle Courtenay, shares an exciting moment ten years in the making: unboxing an It’s in the Bag donation packed by Oprah Winfrey. When Rochelle first put Oprah on her Share the Dignity vision board over a decade ago, she could only dream of what might be possible. Now, that dream has become a reality, with Oprah packing a bag for an Australian woman or girl, who she will never meet, this Christmas. For Rochelle and Share the Dignity, this moment is about so much more than a famous name on a handbag. It’s about the message at the heart of It’s in the Bag: that every woman and girl deserves to feel seen, valued and cared for. While Oprah’s bag is an incredible pinch-me moment, Rochelle is quick to remind us that it’s no more important than any other bag donated. Whether it’s packed by a global icon or someone filling a handbag with essentials at home, every bag carries the same message: you matter, you haven’t been forgotten, and someone cares. As Rochelle opens Oprah’s bag, she reflects on the journey that brought Share the Dignity to this moment, the power of a vision that never left her, and the incredible community of people who make It’s in the Bag possible. Join us for this special episode of Another Bloody Podcast to share in an emotional milestone for Rochelle and Share the Dignity, and remember that the real magic of It’s in the Bag has never been about who packs the bag, but the difference it makes to the person receiving it. In this episode of Another Bloody Podcast, Share the Dignity Founder, Rochelle Courtenay, sits down with Lenna, a mum of three and It’s in the Bag recipient whose story is a powerful reminder that support can mean so much more than the essentials inside a bag. Over the past few years, Lenna has navigated breast cancer, major surgery, medical menopause and chronic pain, all while continuing to care for her family. During one particularly difficult period, she was also caring for two of her nieces after her sister fled domestic violence, with five girls living under one roof. Keeping everyone stocked with essential items while navigating her own health challenges became an immense challenge. When Lenna received an It’s in the Bag donation for herself and the girls, it helped take some of the pressure off and gave them something to call their own. For Lenna, the bag was about more than period products, toiletries and little extras. It was a reminder that someone cared, at a time when she was carrying a lot herself. Lenna also opens up about the realities of life after cancer treatment, navigating medical menopause without the usual treatment options, learning to accept help and finding strength in being vulnerable. Join us for this month’s episode of Another Bloody Podcast to hear Lenna share her story of health, motherhood, resilience and the unexpected impact of being reminded that you are seen, cared for and not alone. In this episode of Another Bloody Podcast, Share the Dignity Founder, Rochelle Courtenay, sits down with Rose-maree, a proud First Nations woman and It’s in the Bag recipient whose story is a powerful reminder of what dignity can mean when you’re experiencing homelessness. In her late 60s, Rose-maree found herself sleeping in her car, couch surfing and staying in unsafe accommodation, never knowing where she would sleep next. During this uncertain time, she connected with a community organisation where she was given an It’s in the Bag filled with everyday essentials. For Rose-maree, the bag provided more than shampoo, toothpaste and a toothbrush. It gave her comfort, helped her feel cared for, and reminded her that she hadn’t been forgotten. The handwritten note from a seven-year-old girl was particularly meaningful, staying with Rose-maree through some of her lowest days and reminding her of the kindness of strangers. Rose-maree’s story takes us from homelessness to finding community, dignity and eventually a safe place to call home. Join us for this month’s episode of Another Bloody Podcast to hear Rose-maree share her story of resilience, kindness and hope, and discover how one bag can mean so much more than the essentials inside it.
