🔸Do you want to be able to show up for any event in your life feeling 100% like yourself? 🔸Are you sick of wondering why the outfits that look good on other people look or feel weird on you? 🔸Do you feel like you should already know how to create your own style? Like there was a cute girl outfit class that everyone else took but you didn’t know about? You know how most women are self-conscious about how they look? I was too! Now I have a process for discovering your Style DNA so you and I can look and feel like ourselves. Style DNA is my acronym and what this podcast is all about: 🔸D) your body’s DESIGN. This includes your silhouette, inherent color palette, and many other artistic characteristics that determine what looks best on you. (Physical form) 🔸(N) your NEEDS, based on your lifestyle, what life stage you are in, your roles, what industry you’re in, where you live geographically and climate-wise. (External elements) 🔸(A) your AESTHETIC. The vision of beauty that’s unique to you. What you like, and what you don’t like, and WHY. (Internal elements) Imagine being able to walk into a roomful of people, forget about what you are wearing, and just be who you are there to be. I believe when women are seen and valued for who they truly are, we will begin to see the transformation our world so desperately needs. My dream is universal flourishing. You not feeling self-conscious is the frosting; being kind to the planet is the sprinkles. Let’s connect! Get the wardrobe building jumpstart guide, The Wardrobe Pyramid: http://eepurl.com/hsNpHH. Almost every wardrobe planning system assumes you already have clothes in your closet. Sometimes a closet empties all at once. A new job in a completely different field. A fire or a flood. Leaving suddenly without being able to take anything with you. This episode covers what to buy first when there's nothing to work with, and how few pieces it takes before you're covered. It's about eight. Then it covers what that order can't answer. Which trouser shape. Which neckline. How long the jacket should be. There are three things about your own architecture that answer those questions, and each one lines up with a layer you're already buying. There's also a woman who came to me after her house burned down. She had insurance money to replace everything and could have finished the whole thing in a single weekend. She wanted to be sure that what she bought would actually be right for her. She was the mom of twin toddlers. She came in wanting to take the plunge and wear something besides tees and jeans. Mostly what she ended up with was tees and jeans, and she looked put together at the playground in a t-shirt. Letting your Style DNA lead your wardrobe planning is the most effective way to build a closet that looks like you instead of the one you had before. Let's connect! Marie Kondo got closet editing partly right. Category based sorting works. A defined timeline works. But asking you to judge one sweater at a time was never going to get you all the way there. Marie Kondo asks you to hold one item and wait for joy, but building your favorite outfits first is what actually reveals what belongs in your closet. This week: what works in the joy test, and how to build a wardrobe from outfits you already love. Let's connect! Getting a compliment on a color you're wearing is not the same as being seen. Most women have at least one color in their closet that draws compliments regularly and still feels wrong somehow. Like what's being noticed isn't quite them. There's a reason for that. Most color advice asks what looks good on you, but your personal color palette should start with who you are. In this episode we look at why compliments aren't proof your colors are right for you, what your colors are actually communicating whether you intended it or not, and what it looks like to build a palette that starts with your personality instead of just your undertone. The conscious closet conversation focuses heavily on where clothing comes from. It almost never talks about what happens in the middle. Every garment you own is moving through a lifecycle whether you engage with it or not. A garment depreciating unworn in your closet is waste just as much as a landfill is. Locating yourself in a garment's lifecycle is the most generous thing you can do for your conscious closet and for the rest of humanity. This episode looks at what conscious stewardship actually looks like at the beginning, middle, and end of a garment's life, and why the most generous thing you can do with a piece of clothing might be to let it go. Most women were never taught that clothing belongs in a budget. They were taught it was the first thing to cut. Ramit Sethi's Conscious Spending Plan treats basic clothing the same as rent and groceries: a non-negotiable cost of being a functioning human. Elevated clothing gets its own intentional category. Neither one requires an apology. But here's what his framework doesn't tell you. A clothing budget without Style DNA clarity is still mostly guesswork. You can fund the category generously and still feel like you have nothing to wear. Most women inherited a script that says clothing is frivolous, but Ramit Sethi's framework treats it as a line item, and your Style DNA is what makes that work. That's what this episode is about. Most of us were never handed a verdict on purpose. Someone just made a choice, and we made it mean something. This episode starts with a brown gingham dress and a six-year-old who drew the wrong conclusion. It ends with a journaling prompt that may be the beginning of a thread worth pulling. Recovering your own eye is the most effective way to finally embody your unique style. We cover three ideas: how childhood style experiences form us, what goes wrong when outside systems arrive before self-knowledge is solid, and what it actually looks like to do the repair work as an adult. There is also a practical note for parents on which style frameworks are appropriate at which ages, and when to wait. Let's connect! Harriet McJimsey introduced style archetypes in 1963. What she built was a whole-person reading system. What the popular adaptations kept was mostly the body-typing. Understanding your style archetypes as a whole-person reading, not a body-typing exercise, is the most effective way to develop your signature style. This episode traces the real lineage: what McJimsey actually built, how Kibbe, Kitchener, and others adapted it, and what gets restored when you come back to the original method. Let's connect! Most women who resist hiring a personal stylist think the resistance is about money or confidence. It isn't. It's about a very specific fear: that you'll come out looking polished and put-together and completely unlike yourself. In this episode I name the three real reasons that resistance shows up, why they make complete sense, and what a process looks like that starts with your wiring instead of your wardrobe. If you've ever thought "I probably need help but I can't quite go there," this one is for you. Let's connect! Most people who know the Enneagram focus on their type number. But new research suggests your survival instinct — self-preservation, social, or sexual — is actually the more useful tool for understanding your personal style. In this episode I break down what each enneagram instinct looks like in the wardrobe, what images you're drawn to reveal about your instinct, and how I use that information when working with women on their signature style. Mili Velikova has a video on style vs taste that's worth your time before you listen to this episode. She names something real: what you're drawn to and what you actually wear with confidence are not always the same thing. And the gap between them is a genuine source of wardrobe frustration. What I've noticed is that the gap almost always has a cognitive function explanation underneath it. Your four MBTI letters are a starting point. The function stack underneath them is where the answer actually lives. That's what episode 130 is about. If you've ever loved something on the hanger and felt off in it all day, this is the missing piece. Let's connect! To suggest a podcast topic, send email to hello@signaturestylesystems.com . Most people think caring about appearance conflicts with spiritual depth, but actually the body is an instrument of worship. In this episode, I unpack three ideas that reframe beauty as devotion rather than vanity: the body as instrument of worship, what Jesus actually said about clothes, and how your personal aesthetic is something to discover rather than construct. If you have ever felt pressure to conform to someone else's idea of what a serious or faithful woman should look like, this episode gives you a different framework entirely. Let's connect! Your region was already shaping what you wore, what felt normal, and what got you sideways looks at dinner, long before you had any framework for personal style at all. Colin Woodard's American Nations framework proposes that North America is actually 11 distinct cultures, each with founding values that have persisted for centuries. The eleven nations: Yankeedom (New England to the upper Midwest): Founded by radical Calvinists. Deep investment in education, community improvement, and civic duty. New Netherland (New York City metro): Founded by the Dutch as a commercial trading hub. Pluralistic, cosmopolitan, entrepreneurial from the start. The Midlands (Pennsylvania to the central Midwest): Founded by Quakers who welcomed all. Moderate, consensus-driven, deeply suspicious of extremes. Tidewater (coastal Virginia and the Carolinas): Founded by English gentry who recreated a feudal aristocracy. Hierarchical, formal, oriented toward tradition and lineage. Greater Appalachia (the Appalachian backcountry to the Ozarks): Founded by Scots-Irish borderlanders. Fiercely independent, deeply suspicious of outside authority. Deep South (South Carolina to east Texas): Founded by Barbadian planters who built a slave society. Ceremonial, hierarchical, intensely communal within its own ranks. El Norte (the southwest borderlands): The oldest European culture on the continent. Hardworking, independent, shaped by two nations simultaneously. The Left Coast (coastal Alaska to northern California): Founded by New England missionaries and Appalachian prospectors. Idealistic, innovative, convinced it can build something better. The Far West (the interior West to the Great Plains): Shaped by the extraction economy and harsh climate. Pragmatic, self-reliant, resistant to outside control. New France (Quebec and Louisiana): Founded by French colonists who prioritized relationships over hierarchy. Communal, convivial, with a strong sense of place and pleasure. First Nation (northern Canada and Alaska): The nations that predate all the others. Cultures built on deep relationship with land, community, and living tradition. In this episode I'm applying that lens to style, introducing the 11 nations and their regional style archetypes, and asking a question most style advice never thinks to ask: which parts of your style are actually yours? Most color analysts say wearing black depends on your season, but actually your cognitive functions reveal why you're drawn to black and what to pair it with. In this episode, I break down why introverts have a different relationship with black than extraverts, what each introverted function needs black to do, and the polarity principle for pairing black in ways that actually work for your type. If you've ever wondered why wearing black feels essential even when it's not your best color, this framework will make sense of it. Let's connect! Your style DNA is the operating system underneath every outfit decision you make. In this episode, I share three principles that are original to my Style DNA system and that you are unlikely to hear from a stylist, a style quiz, or an AI. These are the mechanics behind why some outfits make you disappear and others make people finally see you. We cover chroma harmony and the Same Plane test, why your favorite color is the only thing in your closet that is truly timeless, and how to translate a boho-at-heart aesthetic into rooms that require you to look polished and intentional. If you have ever stood in front of a mirror and felt like something was off but could not name it, this episode is for you. Let's connect! Most people think they know how to be popular. Be agreeable. Be relatable. Don't take up too much space. But there's a woman at the nail salon who never got that memo, and everyone in the room loves her for it. In this episode I'm unpacking what actually makes someone magnetic, why it has nothing to do with swearing, and what it has everything to do with. Including what your wardrobe has to say about it. Most people build their style inspiration boards from outfit photos. The problem is you end up chasing someone else's aesthetic instead of your own. The designers at Alice Lane build their interiors from sources that have nothing to do with interiors: a vintage sports car, a textile, a memory of a place. The result is spaces that feel completely original because the inspiration was never borrowed. Your wardrobe works the same way. When you stop looking at clothes for style inspiration and start looking at everything else that moves you, something shifts. You stop second-guessing and start recognizing. The image tells you what you're after. Then you just have to translate it. That's what this episode is about. Let's connect! Discover your essential aesthetic in Signature Style Foundations . Most people think of personality type as a fun way to understand themselves. What they don’t realize is that your cognitive functions also predict a lot about which friendships will feel effortless and which ones will require more work. In this episode I share what I’ve noticed about making friends as an adult through the lens of Myers-Briggs cognitive functions, including what happens when types are just one letter apart, why the perceiving functions shape what you want to talk about, and why none of this shows up on a standard personality test. This is part two of a two-part series. You don’t need to listen to part one first, but it’s worth going back to. Let's connect! Most women say making friends as an adult is hard. And they’re not wrong. But hard doesn’t mean impossible, and it doesn’t mean out of your control. In this episode I share what I’ve learned about making friends as an adult, including the small moves that actually work, why the busy seasons of life can quietly create a friendship gap you don’t notice until later, and the moment I realized I had more choices than I thought.
