No matter how much you prep them, the transition to a new sibling is going to be hard. You can absolutely make it easier, and I did a lot of things that I think really helped, but there's no such thing as an easy transition for a kid whose whole world just changed. In this episode I'm walking through everything we did to prepare our older two for their baby brother, from how we talked about him during pregnancy all the way through what's been happening at home now that the newborn novelty has worn off and the reality of mom's attention being split three ways is setting in. I get into why we chose not to bring our kids to the hospital, what it looked like when they met him for the first time at home, and the one thing we say yes to almost every time because I think it's made a bigger difference than anything else. In this episode, we dive into: How to prep the kids before baby gets here How to prep the kids for you being at the hospital How to introduce them to the baby How our transition is going now and more! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT LINKS • ✨ Join our Mom Club on Patreon HERE ✨ 👈🏼 • Truly Free Marketplace Lifetime Membership + $10 gift card HERE • Get Dr. Kartik's book HERE --------------------------------------------------------------------------- sibling transition, preparing kids for a new baby, preparing toddler for new baby, new sibling adjustment, going from 2 to 3 kids, transition from two kids to three kids, big sister prep, big brother prep, welcoming a new baby, second baby transition, third baby transition, how to prepare your toddler for a new baby, preparing your first child for a second baby, how to help your toddler adjust to a new sibling, what to do when your toddler is jealous of the new baby, should I bring my kids to the hospital to meet the baby, introducing siblings to a newborn at home, first meeting between toddler and newborn, how to give your older kids attention with a newborn, toddler regression after new baby, toddler tantrums after new sibling, 1:1 time with older kids after baby, how to prepare a 2 year old for a new baby, how to prepare a 4 year old for a new baby, what to say to your toddler about the new baby, letting siblings hold the newborn, big sibling books for toddlers, sibling introduction newborn ideas, mom guilt with a new baby, splitting attention between kids, feeling stretched thin with three kids, my toddler is acting out since the baby came, my older kid is jealous of the baby, adjusting to being a mom of three, newborn and toddler at the same time, hardest part of having a second baby, hardest part of having a third baby, attention seeking behavior after new baby, even bad attention is good attention, pregnancy prep with toddlers, Learning to Mom podcast, Learning to Mom episode 158, Christian motherhood podcast, motherhood podcast for new moms, Laila Learning to Mom, mom podcast sibling transition, motherhood podcast, mom podcast, podcast for moms, best podcasts for moms, podcasts for new moms, podcast for first time moms, podcast for stay at home moms, motherhood podcast for Christian moms, Christian motherhood podcast, Catholic mom podcast, faith based motherhood podcast, faith and motherhood, biblical motherhood, praying as a mom, motherhood and faith podcast, parenting podcast, gentle parenting podcast, intentional motherhood, intentional parenting, motherhood community, mom friends podcast, podcast that feels like a friend, encouragement for moms, mom encouragement podcast, tired moms, exhausted mom, overstimulated mom, touched out, mom burnout, mom guilt, mom rage, mental load of motherhood, invisible labor of motherhood, postpartum support, postpartum recovery, fourth trimester, postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression, healing postpartum, newborn stage, newborn tips, sleep deprived mom, breastfeeding support, breastfeeding tips, formula feeding, pumping tips, first time mom tips, new mom advice, new mom must haves, pregnancy tips, pregnancy podcast, birth stories, natural birth, unmedicated birth, home birth, hospital birth, birth plan, VBAC, doula, midwife, labor and delivery, toddler mom, toddler behavior, toddler tantrums, toddler discipline, raising toddlers, raising boys, raising girls, big family, mom of three, mom of many, large family living, homeschooling, homeschool mom, stay at home mom, working mom, SAHM life, day in the life mom, motherhood in real time, real motherhood, unfiltered motherhood, motherhood unfiltered, no perfect moms, imperfect motherhood, holistic motherhood, crunchy mom, crunchy motherhood, low tox living, non toxic living, non toxic home, clean beauty, clean living, natural living mom, whole food family meals, nourishing your family, marriage and motherhood, motherhood and marriage, being a wife and mom, mom routines, mom rhythms, daily rhythms with kids, screen time as a mom, phone free motherhood, being present with your kids, slow motherhood, seasons of motherhood, motherhood advice, motherhood tips, motherhood support, you are not alone motherhood, Learning to Mom, Learning to Mom podcast, the Couch Hang, Couch Hang podcast, Mom Club, Learning to Mom Patreon

Allison is a pediatric physical therapist (and a mom of four who had four kids in five and a half years, so she GETS it), and she is breaking down exactly what your 12 to 24 month old should be doing, when, and how to tell the difference between a kid developing on their own timeline and an actual red flag worth chasing down. But the part that gave me chills? Her reminder that YOU are the team leader for your child. Not the pediatrician, not the PT, not the preschool teacher, YOU. And that your mother's intuition and even your "I know I shouldn't compare but..." observations are not something to feel guilty about. They're information. In this episode, we talk about: The real timeline for walking (and why your baby probably won't walk by their first birthday) What to look for from 18 months to 2 years: running, climbing, standing from the middle of the room, fine motor skills The ONE milestone that's a definite, non-negotiable age (hint: it's jumping) Why milestones are "like math" and build on each other How to tell a developmental timeline difference from a true red flag The "wait and see" problem, and when NOT to wait Why you are the team leader for your child Why comparing your child to others isn't something to feel guilty about Simple, cheap at home activities to jumpstart development Everyday "klutzy" struggles that can actually point to body awareness challenges Proprioception and the vestibular system explained in a way that finally makes sense Sensory seeking vs. sensory avoiding, and what's totally normal How to make accommodations for a sensitive kid while still giving exposure The SINGLE most important thing you can do in this window ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT LINKS • ✨ Join our Mom Club on Patreon HERE ✨ 👈🏼 • Check out Laila’s Clean Makeup Bag Staples HERE • Or shop the whole nontoxic makeup site HERE ◦ Use Code ADVOCATE10 for 10% off! • Connect with Allison HERE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- toddler milestones, 12 to 24 month milestones, toddler milestones by age, when should my baby walk, baby not walking at 15 months, toddler not walking, late walker, when do toddlers jump, when do toddlers run, toddler gross motor skills, toddler fine motor skills, milestones build on each other, developmental red flags toddler, wait and see pediatrician, when to get early intervention, pediatric physical therapy, mother's intuition child development, comparing my child to others, parent as team leader, toddler coordination problems, clumsy toddler, body awareness in toddlers, proprioception in children, vestibular system kids, sensory seeking toddler, sensory avoidant toddler, sensory processing toddler, toddler accommodations sensory, toddler stairs milestones, free play for toddlers, open ended play toddlers, at home activities for toddlers, gross motor activities toddlers, Tots on Target, toddler development podcast, motherhood podcast, first time mom podcast, parenting podcast for toddler moms, best motherhood podcast, christian motherhood podcast, crunchy mom podcast, toddler parenting tips
Whether you've whispered "what is wrong with me" after snapping over a spilled sippy cup, or you've been told it's "just hormones" one too many times, this episode is going to make you feel SO seen. Stacia Scott, nurse practitioner and founder of Postpartum Care USA, is back for round two, and she's bringing data from more postpartum moms than any clinic in the world: 88.2% of them experience mom rage. The best part? Rage is a signal from a depleted body, and once you know what it's signaling, you can actually fix it. In this episode, we cover: What mom rage actually is (and how it's different from a bad day or PMS) The shocking percentage of moms who experience it What's happening biologically in the moment you snap Why you're blaming the wrong hormones Cortisol explained: how it hijacks your calm What your thyroid actually controls (hint: basically everything) Why "normal" blood work doesn't mean you're okay, normal vs. optimal labs Why intermittent fasting backfires postpartum The daily protocol: protein, sleep, morning sunlight, 5-5-5 breathing, and smart movement How to get your husband to step up (and why he genuinely can't see what you see) The four root causes behind almost every postpartum symptom Why "postpartum" doesn't end at six weeks... or even two years --------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT LINKS • ✨ Join our Mom Club on Patreon HERE ✨ 👈🏼 - Laila's favorite books HERE 📖 • Check out Laila’s Clean Makeup Bag Staples HERE • Or shop the whole nontoxic makeup site HERE ◦ Use Code ADVOCATE10 for 10% off! • connect with Stacia HERE --------------------------------------------------------------------------- mom rage, postpartum rage, postpartum anger, why am I so angry after having a baby, mom rage symptoms, how to stop yelling at my kids, snapping at my kids, postpartum hormone imbalance, cortisol and mom rage, high cortisol symptoms moms, adrenal fatigue postpartum, postpartum thyroid problems, thyroid symptoms in women, postpartum depletion, postnatal depletion, normal vs optimal lab ranges, postpartum labs, how long does postpartum last, postpartum recovery, postpartum anxiety, postpartum mental health, intrusive thoughts postpartum, diaphragmatic breathing for anxiety, breathing exercises for moms, morning sunlight cortisol, blood sugar and mood, nutrition for postpartum moms, postpartum nutrition plan, walking for health benefits, nervous system regulation for moms, mental load of motherhood, unmet needs in motherhood, how to get husband to help postpartum, dividing household labor, fair play method, mom burnout, overstimulated mom, overwhelmed mom support, survival mode motherhood, root cause medicine for women, holistic postpartum care, functional medicine postpartum, women's hormone health podcast, postpartum care USA, Stacia Scott, motherhood podcast, podcast for new moms, first time mom podcast, christian motherhood podcast, crunchy mom podcast, holistic motherhood podcast, best motherhood podcast, parenting podcast for overwhelmed moms
What happens when your toddler climbs out of the crib or when you're ready to move them into a "big kid bed"? In this episode, I sit down with Jessica Burke, founder of Awesome Little Sleepers and creator of the REST Method, to talk about the transition no one prepares you for: moving your child from the crib to a big kid bed. If you've got a toddler who's started leaving their room, calling for "one more hug," asking for water like a tiny dehydrated philosopher, or who suddenly stopped sleeping after months of doing great.... this conversation is for you!! In this episode, we cover: Why the crib to bed transition is such a stressful, chaotic season (and the developmental reason behind it) The signs parents think mean it's time to transition The ideal age to move your child out of the crib, and why "sleeping well in the crib" matters more than age How to keep a climbing toddler safely in the crib longer (including the sleep sack and crib-turning tricks) What to do if you want or need to transition early The #1 mistake parents make right after the switch The pool noodle trick, bed rails, and how to make a big bed feel as cozy as a crib Whether you can move your child back to the crib if it's not going well How to handle "curtain calls," middle-of-the-night visits, and bedtime stalling Why building stalling tactics into the bedtime routine actually works The real reason your great sleeper suddenly started waking up at 2am Why independent sleep is the key to protecting your toddler's sleep all night long ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT LINKS • ✨ Join our Mom Club on Patreon HERE ✨ 👈🏼 • My Book Reccs for First Time Moms HERE • Check out Laila’s Clean Makeup Bag Staples HERE • Or shop the whole nontoxic makeup site HERE ◦ Use Code ADVOCATE10 for 10% offf • Connect with Jessica HERE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- crib to bed transition, when to move toddler to bed, toddler bed transition tips, how to transition from crib to toddler bed, crib to toddler bed age, signs toddler is ready for a bed, toddler climbing out of crib, what to do when toddler climbs out of crib, toddler bed vs floor bed, big kid bed transition, toddler won't stay in bed, how to keep toddler in bed at night, toddler getting out of bed repeatedly, toddler bedtime routine, toddler sleep regression, 2 year old sleep problems, 3 year old won't stay in bed, toddler sleep training, gentle sleep solutions toddlers, toddler room safety, childproofing toddler bedroom, ok to wake clock, toddler bedtime boundaries, bedtime stalling toddler, toddler sleep tips, toddler sleep expert, transitioning before new baby, crib to bed before sibling, toddler sleep schedule, naps and bed transition, toddler nighttime wake ups, early morning wake ups toddler, toddler sleep podcast, Jessica Berk, Awesome Little Sleepers, motherhood podcast, podcast for new moms, first time mom podcast, parenting podcast for toddler moms, best motherhood podcast, toddler parenting tips, sleep tips for moms, christian motherhood podcast, crunchy mom podcast, holistic motherhood podcast
