Episode 94 is the Tibet tapes. Magnus and Tim finally made it to the Park World Tour races in Tibet, just five days late, after a permit saga that ended with a man in a dark coat handing over their papers in a Beijing hotel lobby, taking a photo of them and running off. Ralph, sick at home in Oslo, delivers the verdict: omnishambles. - Five days of visa limbo in Beijing, a legendary Volvo car-hire guy with a printer, and the airport manager we never got to meet - Lhasa at 3,600 m: Tim on the hotel oxygen machine, Magnus racing Tomas Krivda up a 4,900 m peak for a Coke, and two yak chases - Magnus races with the flu: 4th and 3rd and one second off Yannick Michiels. Tim walked, max heart rate 119, doctor's orders - Chili chicken feet and getting altitude-mocked on the train to Nyingchi - The dilemma returns: would you orienteer in handcuffs or boxing gloves? One host is still furious Plus Magnus's 80 kg bench saga, Ralph learning to 'turn his legs on', a Yeti jumper, the DM mailbox and, eventually, the Oceania Champs results. Featuring Tomas Krivda, Yannick Michiels, Kasper Fosser, Gustav Bergman, Aston Key, Lara Molloy and Joseph Lynch. Events: Park World Tour Tibet (Lhasa and Nyingchi), Oceania Championships, the China gold WRE and Blodslitet.
Episode 93 is the very late EOC recap, and only two of the boys made it. Tim is 'busy in his summer house', Magnus is jet-lagged from Tibet with internet that cuts out right when Ralph's times come up, and Ralph opens himself up to age abuse by admitting he can no longer read a 1:15,000 map. Magnus also says Ralph's 1:52 long-distance time would be 'pretty slow for a half'. - Ralph's EOC Lithuania: a cramping long, 33rd in the middle after not being able to run ten days earlier, and a first leg with all 'the old boys' - Kasper Fosser's 94-second middle masterclass, Tove's long-distance win and Hanna Lundberg's first title - The relays: Switzerland's 24-year age gap with Daniel Hubmann at 43, and Tomas Krivda's route around the lake that left the Czech team with hands on heads - Miika Kirmula's double middle finger explained, plus his '1 in 278' start-draw stats, and a Hubmann–Lysell prank war with potatoes, a buried bag and a spade. Athletes and events: Kasper Fosser, Fabian Aebersold, Viktor Svensk, Tove Alexandersson, Simona Aebersold, Hanna Lundberg, Pia Young Vik, Venla Harju, Tomas Krivda, Anton Johansson, Emil Svensk, Daniel Hubmann, Jerker Lysell, Gustav Bergman, Miika Kirmula, Natalia Gemperle. European Orienteering Championships 2026 (Lithuania), the World Cup final standings and 25manna.
We get an update from Tim after last week’s hospital visit, then we get into Ralph’s Norwegian Champs results, a lingering leg issue, and the upcoming European Champs in Lithuania. Plus Tibet plans, heat-training experiments, Eventor rants, and much more.
Episode 91 opens with an unexpected call from Tim… from the hospital. We get the hospital room tour, some food complaints, and the usual banter before Ralph takes over as the main character with his Lithuania stories.
We are back after the summer break and we immediately go off-topic with microwave beans, work lunches and company buffets. Then we finally get to the World Cup in Czech: Ralph’s return to the forest after sickness, the fake last-control box, the B-final-to-A-final qualification debate, middle vs long specialists, and a strong middle-distance result. Plus Tim’s triathlon chocolate, Daniel Hubmann’s best-worst Czech result, and Ralph heading to Lithuania.
The final part of our WOC Italy 2026 trilogy. We dig into Ralph’s knockout randomness stats, the big debate on whether knockout belongs in championships, the full sprint relay breakdown (including Tim’s strong leg), and the elephants in the room – the collision incident, athlete liability, and what that could mean for the future of urban sprint. Plus the return of Sounds of Orienteering, O-Ringen results, and much more.
Sprint WOC Italy 2026 Part 2 – the full knockout deep dive. We've got butterflies to discuss, the infamous multi-level mania that stopped five out of six heats, arena passage marking chaos, and Denmark vs Sweden disqualification debates. Tim brings the athlete perspective from inside the races, plus the usual apologies, banter, and whether knockout is dividing the O family.
The big WOC sprint Italy 2026 Part 1 covering the sprint and KO qualification before rain stops play. Was this the hardest individual sprint course ever? Tim brings his insight of having run the race and we reflect on why so many top runners found it difficult. Plus: Magnus and Tim’s legendary 300 km bonk-fest, Ralph has some nerdy stats, and the usual off-topic banter.
The full JWOC 2026 wrap-up (sprint, long, middle and relays chaos) mixed with a preview of the upcoming World Champs in Genoa. We chat Matthieu Bührer's dominance, Freja Hjerne's double, Australian heroics, Rachel Baker’s top-10, the most impressive Jukola overtakes, artificial barriers, and Magnus’s upcoming Scandinavian road trip. Plus Ralph’s sickness update and we capture Tim live from Italy.
Pre-JWOC 2026 special with the Swedish junior (and senior) superstar Johan Runesson. We dive into the mental side of being a top junior, Swedish orienteering schools, the pressure of a home JWOC, and what it takes to actually enjoy (and succeed at) junior racing. Plus a quick terrain preview for Karlskrona and the usual banter.
Episode 84 is the full Jukola 2026 recap – the boys relive the absolute chaos of the first leg (trampling, pushing, falling in the green, and one very public 69), share their personal race stories, club results, and how they somehow survived the rain. We also settle the predictions scoreboard (some of us did not cover ourselves in glory) and read the latest listener mail.
The boys try really hard to do a Jukola preview episode but keep getting distracted. Stonehenge, Danish culture, niche facts - all these things take time away from discussing the World's largest orienteering relay. Ralph has run selection races for World Champs, and had to travel through Milton Keynes both ways. Magnus has been trying to run orienteering without a map. Tim has a new job. There is also the usual prediction challenge. Tune in to find out how badly we rate your favourite club's chances
Episode 82 is the full World Cup debrief from Sweden – Tim and Magnus break down the knockout, individual sprint and relay, artificial barriers galore, rat-orientering, and the strong Danish showing. Joseph Lynch (Team New Zealand, currently staying with Tim) pops in for a quick chat at the end about his trip, Jukola plans and more.
Episode 81 is a proper sweaty one – Ralph is literally sweat-maxing in the intro while the boys catch up on World Cup prep, Danish Champs chaos, Magnus’ 420-metre-to-start 5K heroics, and Tim plugging New Zealand hard. We get some honest life updates, sprint talk, coaching opportunities in Christchurch, and the usual banter. World Cup weekend loading.
Episode 80 is a special one: Miika Kirmula (fresh Tiomila winner with Kalevan Rasti) joins Tim and Magnus for a proper chat about his career, fishing stories, changing hairstyles, his Finnish nickname, injuries, and what it really takes to win the big relay. Ralph crashes the recording straight after his sprint race (his apartment now fully cling-filmed by the Bækkelaget juniors in classic brain-rot revenge) and we get the usual outfit roasts, standing-desk chaos, and extended apology section.
Episode 79 is the big Tiomila debrief – sleep-deprived chaos, brain rot pranks, long night train stories, and our predictions finally settled once and for all. We evaluate our own club results, read out the listener abuse, get official World Cup organiser feedback on the mapping drama, and Magnus turns up in full Farum Tisvilde gear to bully everyone into matching orienteering outfits. Apologies section is extra long this week. Tiomila hangover complete.
Episode 78 is our full Tiomila predictions special. Tim and Magnus might be sharing the exact same leg (but what about Ralph?), and we finally drop our proper homework: men’s & women’s top 10s, leg-by-leg chat, new format, and a points system built so Magnus can lose fair and square. We roast the mixed Tranås terrain, club power shifts and all the hot takes. Listener predictions open – send yours in, we’ll roast the results later. Tiomila weekend is here. Good luck out there!
Episode 77 is fresh off the World Cup weekend in Switzerland, where the boys were (once again) nowhere near the start line. Ralph smashed a local middle distance for his first win of the season and Tim passed his forest fitness test ahead of Tiomila. We break down the sprint, relay and knockout races, debate the mapping, artificial barriers, cars in the area, and the great Kasper Fosser hedge-jump controversy. There’s also safety glasses, headbands, ankle braces, one very nerdy rock collection, and Ralph’s first-ever earthquake.
Episode 76 lands just in time for the first World Cup of the year… which none of us are running. Ralph’s back from Halden, Tim’s survived his first mountain bike race (powered mostly by confusion and caffeine gels), and Magnus has tackled a 44-control monster. We get into messy relays, sprint rule changes, and whether hiding course details is genius or chaos. Plus: pickles at the finish line, disappearing shoes in marshes, and the ongoing debate that really matters — how to eat a scone.
Ralph is back, which means normal service resumes: immediate abuse, strong opinions, and slightly more structure than last time. We get into a packed weekend of racing at JK and Swedish League, with snow, mud, mispunches, blocked toilets, and Tim somehow making a sprint podium while barely running. Magnus continues his fight against fake Strava athletes and adds arm wrestling to his increasingly confusing training plan. Some real orienteering, some public chaos, and a very important debate about scones.
