How can you lose weight without dieting?
Your hair is coming out in the shower. You are hungry an hour after you eat. The scale is going down, but somehow you feel softer, not stronger. And you are tired in a way that a good night's sleep just does not touch. You have probably been treating those like four different problems. Blaming your age. Blaming your hormones. Quietly wondering what is wrong with you. What if they are not four problems at all? What if they are one, and it is one of the most fixable things there is? There is a reason women over 40 end up quietly starving for protein at the exact moment their bodies need it most, and once you hear it, a whole lot of what you have been blaming on aging is going to look very different. Your body has been sending up flares about this for a while. You just did not know how to read them. In this episode, I am walking you through the 5 signs your body is begging for more protein, the one that surprises everyone, and why the scale going down might actually be bad news. Then I will show you exactly how much you really need, and the single meal where almost every woman misses it completely. You are not falling apart, friend. And this is not just your age. Come find out what your body has actually been trying to tell you. If something in this episode lands for you, hit subscribe and take thirty seconds to leave a rating and a review. It is the single biggest way you can help another woman who is exhausted, stuck, and searching for a little hope find this show. And when you are ready to put this into practice and eat in a way that finally works with your body instead of against it, the Thin Adapted System will walk you through it, step by step. Your yogurt has more sugar in it than a candy bar. I am not saying that to be dramatic. Go pull one out of your fridge and turn it around. I will wait. This is the episode where we find out why you crave sugar every single afternoon even though you swear you barely eat any. And the answer is not willpower, and it is not that something is wrong with you. It is that half the food you have been buying on purpose, because you believed it was the healthy choice, is quietly spiking your blood sugar and setting up the crash that sends you into the pantry at three o'clock. You are not imagining it. That afternoon craving is physical. Your body is genuinely asking you for something, and no amount of white knuckling is going to win that argument, because you are showing up to the fight hours too late. I ate that way for years and blamed myself for every bit of it, until I found out what was actually in my breakfast. Inside: what is really happening in your body between breakfast and that three o'clock desperation, where the sugar is hiding in the foods you thought were the healthy choice, whether fruit counts, and the one change to make tomorrow morning that most women feel by that same afternoon. You were never weak. You were on a rollercoaster nobody told you about. When you are ready to get off that rollercoaster for good, the Thin Adapted System will walk you through it, step by step. "I can't afford to eat healthy." Have you ever said that? I did, for years. And I want to gently tell you today that it is not true. In fact, it might be costing you far more than you think. Here is something wild. The most expensive food in your grocery cart is not the meat, and it is not the produce. It is the cheap, processed stuff you grab because it is easy and on sale. The stuff that never actually fills you up, so you keep reaching for more of it, and keep paying for it with your energy, your health, and honestly, your money. When I sent out my last survey, one question came up again and again. How do I do this when money is tight? So today, I am answering it. And I am bringing receipts, because long before Thinlicious, I spent years running a frugal living blog teaching women how to stretch a dollar. Saving money is in my bones. Inside, I am walking you through exactly how to feed yourself, and your whole family, real food that actually heals your body, for less than you are spending right now. No fancy health foods. No fourteen dollar smoothies. Just simple, cheap, real food, plus a few little tricks that make it work even for the people at your table who are not fully on board yet. If money has been the reason you keep putting yourself last, friend, this one is for you. Loved this episode? Take thirty seconds to subscribe and leave a review. It is the single biggest way you can help another woman who is exhausted, stuck, and searching for hope find this show. And when you are ready to go deeper, the Thin Adapted System will walk you through eating to heal your body without spending a fortune, step by step. What if the reason you cannot lose weight has nothing to do with willpower, and everything to do with the fact that you have been eating too little? I know how that sounds. For years, I did exactly what we have all been told to do. Eat less, move more. And for a while, it worked. Then it stopped, no matter how hard I tried. And even when I thought I was being so good, eating my yogurt and my oatmeal and all the low calorie foods that are supposed to be the healthy choices, my body would not budge, and I felt worse than ever. Here is what I did not understand back then. When you eat less and less, your body does not reward you for it. It protects you. It slows your metabolism, keeps your insulin up, raises your stress hormones, and holds onto every ounce of fat for dear life. You end up eating less and storing more at the very same time. In this episode, I walk you through exactly why eating less has been working against you, why those so called healthy foods were quietly keeping you stuck, and the surprising truth that finally helped me lose over 100 pounds and keep it off for eight years. Not by eating less. By finally giving my body what it actually needed. In this episode: Why "eat less, move more" works for a little while and then quits on you The three things happening inside your body every time you cut your food: your metabolism, your insulin, and your cortisol How everyday "health foods" like yogurt and oatmeal can keep you locked in fat storage mode What it really means to become thin adapted, and why you cannot get there by starving The one simple change to make at breakfast tomorrow morning Ready to stop starving yourself and start healing? The Thin Adapted System is the step by step way to reverse insulin resistance, balance your hormones, and finally lose the weight for good, without restriction and without giving up the foods you love. Your scale is a coach, not a judge. Here's how to read it. How many mornings has the number on your bathroom scale ruined your whole day? You stepped on it before you had even had your coffee, saw a number you did not want to see, and let it decide whether you were winning or losing, on track or off, worth celebrating or worth being disappointed in. Friend, that is not what the scale is for. I still weigh myself multiple times a week, eight years into maintaining a hundred pound weight loss. Not because I am obsessed. Not because my worth depends on the number. Because it is a genuinely useful data point when you know how to read it. And in this episode, I am going to teach you how. We are talking about the difference between using the scale as a judge (which is how most of us have been using it) and using it as a coach (which is what it was actually meant to be). Why a five-pound overnight jump is almost never fat gain, and what your body is actually telling you when the number shifts. How to look at patterns instead of reacting to single readings. And why sodium, sleep, hormones, inflammation, and even your last workout can move the scale by several pounds in either direction, no matter how perfectly you have been eating. We are also talking about the rest of the dashboard your body is giving you, that most women are completely ignoring. Your energy. Your sleep. Your cravings. Your digestion. Your strength. How your clothes are fitting. What your labs are actually saying. Your mood. Your capacity to show up for the people you love. The scale is one data point among many, and when you learn to read the whole picture, everything changes. You will walk away with a fresh way to think about the number on your scale, three practical things you can do this week, and permission to stop letting a single reading decide how you feel about yourself. If you have been white-knuckling your mornings around a piece of bathroom equipment, this one is going to set you free. Ready to actually shift what your scale is telling you? Almost every woman I have ever coached has lived through it, but very few of us have ever heard it named out loud. The season your weight went up and stayed up. Or the season you were finally doing everything right and your body just stopped cooperating. Maybe life got heavy and the scale responded, and no diet or workout would move it. Or maybe you were getting results, feeling like yourself again, and then a season hit and everything ground to a halt. Whichever woman you are, I see you. And I want you to hear the truth about what was actually happening, because I think when you understand it, something in you is finally going to be able to exhale. This is one I have lived more than once. In this episode I am pulling back the curtain on what your body does in survival mode, what is happening in your brain under sustained stress, and why none of it was weakness or a lack of willpower. It was your body and your brain doing exactly what they were designed to do to keep you alive. And then we talk about what healing actually looks like on the other side, starting not from shame but from grace. 💗 What We Cover In This Episode: The two stories almost every midlife woman lives through, and why both end in self-blame Why your body is not separate from your life, and what that means in a hard season What survival mode actually is, and why it is a real physiological state and not a metaphor How chronically high cortisol raises your blood sugar and insulin and locks your body into fat-storage mode The sleep loop your body cannot break on its own How your hunger hormones get scrambled, with ghrelin up and leptin gone quiet What happens in your brain under prolonged stress, and why the amygdala grows louder while the prefrontal cortex goes quiet Why reaching for sugar and carbs in a hard season is neuroscience, not a character flaw The shift from punishment to partnership, and why it changes everything What real healing looks like, and the five things it actually requires The Shift That Changes Everything: The women who heal are not the women who hate themselves the most into action. The women who heal are the women who finally stop fighting their bodies and start partnering with them. What Healing Actually Requires: Acknowledging the season instead of minimizing it Real rest, the kind your nervous system has been begging for Nourishment, not restriction, so your body knows the famine is over Community, because you were never meant to heal in isolation Time, so much more time than you want it to take The Verses I Leaned On In This One: So much of this episode comes back to the truth that you were never designed to carry it all alone. These are the verses I keep close in the hard seasons. 1 Peter 5:7 - "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." Psalm 34:18 - "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Matthew 11:28 - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Three Things To Try This Week: Name your season. Out loud, in writing, or in the quiet. Honor what you were carrying. Choose one act of kindness toward your body. A walk, a real breakfast, an early bedtime. One thing that says I am going to treat you like an ally now. Talk to someone who can hold the weight of what you went through with you. A friend, a coach, a counselor, a pastor. Ready to go deeper? If you are ready to take a bigger step toward healing your metabolism and your body, head to Thinlicious.com. We'd love to have you as part of our community. 💕 A reminder before you go: Whatever your body did in that hard season, whether the scale went up or whether it just stopped moving when you needed it to most, that was not who you are. That was a chapter. And chapters end. Your body kept you alive through something most people could not have made it through. That is not something to be ashamed of. That is something to be in awe of.
If you're doing all the right things and still feel tired, wired at night, and stuck with weight that won't budge around your middle, this episode is for you. Most women think cortisol is just about stress. And friend, that is not the whole story. You can be managing your schedule, saying no when you need to, keeping your life under control, and your cortisol can still be running high all day long without you ever feeling stressed. I lived in that exact state for years and had no idea. I just thought the exhaustion, the belly weight, the brain fog, and the three a.m. wake-ups were my normal. They weren't. That was cortisol, and nobody warned me it was happening. In this episode, I'm walking you through what cortisol actually is, why it's not the villain it gets made out to be, and the five things that are really keeping it elevated. Most of them have nothing to do with feeling stressed. We'll talk about why chronic dieting quietly traps you in a loop that makes everything worse, what perimenopause does to your built-in calming hormone, and the real priority order for bringing your cortisol back down so your body can finally let go of what it's been holding onto. Whether you've been dieting for years, you're navigating perimenopause, or you're just tired of trying harder and getting nowhere, you deserve the whole picture. Your body is not broken. It's communicating. 💕 Everything we talked about today, protecting your muscle, stabilizing your blood sugar, getting your hormones working with you instead of against you, matters even more if you're on a GLP-1 or thinking about starting one. That's exactly what my upcoming masterclass is about. "What Your Doctor Didn't Tell You About GLP-1s" is a live class where I walk you through exactly what to eat, how to protect your muscle, and how to build a long-term plan whether you stay on these medications or not. It's happening live on Thursday, June 25 at 1pm Eastern, and there's a 7-day replay if you can't make it live. Save your seat: GLP-1 Masterclass
If you're on a GLP-1, thinking about starting one, or quietly wondering how you'll ever get off it without gaining everything back, this episode is for you. There's a lot your doctor probably didn't tell you when they wrote that prescription. Not because anyone's hiding something, but because the appointment was ten minutes long and nobody actually walked you through what happens to your body, your muscle, and your metabolism while you're on the medication. That gap is exactly why so many women lose weight on a GLP-1 and still feel weak, still feel off, and still feel scared about what comes next. In this episode, I'm getting honest about what these drugs can and can't do, why losing weight and losing muscle are not the same thing, and what it really takes to come out the other side stronger instead of starting over. Whether you want to stay on the medication, taper off it, or you're just trying to make a decision you won't second-guess later, you deserve the whole picture. And if this episode cracks the door open for you, the masterclass is where you get the full map. "What Your Doctor Didn't Tell You About GLP-1s" is a live class where I walk you through exactly what to eat, how to protect your muscle, and how to build a long-term plan whether you stay on these medications or not. You weren't failing those diets. Those diets were teaching your body to fail you. Have you noticed that the diets that used to work in your twenties barely move the needle anymore? That you can eat the exact same way you ate five years ago and the scale just sits there and laughs at you? That's not in your head. And it's not a willpower problem. After years of dieting, especially during perimenopause and menopause, your body adapts to protect itself. Your metabolism slows down. Your hormones get dysregulated. Insulin resistance sets in. And every diet you try just digs the hole a little deeper. In this episode, I'm walking you through the real reason weight loss gets harder after 40, including: The Biggest Loser study that proved your metabolism can stay suppressed for years after a diet ends How insulin resistance and cortisol team up to lock fat in place Why set point theory means your body will fight you to defend a higher weight The cumulative damage of decades of yo-yo dieting What actually works instead of dieting (it's not what you've been told) Three specific things you can do this week to start healing If you've been doing everything right and your body still isn't cooperating, this is the episode that's going to put down the shame you've been carrying for years. You're not failing. You've been fooled. The foods that were keeping me stuck, tired, inflamed, holding onto weight no matter what I did, were not the cookies. They weren't the candy. They weren't the obvious junk. They were the foods I was eating because I was trying to be healthy. The yogurt. The smoothie. The protein bar. The granola. The whole-grain everything. The stuff with the little health halo on the front of the package that made me feel good about my choices. And the whole time, they were spiking my insulin and quietly working against me. In this episode, I'm walking you through the seven worst offenders. The foods that look so good on paper and are keeping you stuck. We're also getting a little nerdy with the science (don't worry, I promise it'll make a difference), so you'll finally understand why insulin, not calories, is the number that actually matters. And I'll leave you with three simple swaps you can make this week to start taking your power back. If you've been doing everything right and still feel like your body isn't cooperating, this one's for you. Ready to start fixing your metabolism? If you've been told that the weight gain, the exhaustion, the brain fog, and the joint pain are just "part of having an autoimmune disease" — this episode is for you. For decades, that's exactly what I was told. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's, Raynaud's, and lupus in my teens and twenties, and I spent most of my adult life feeling sick, exhausted, and in pain. I hit 288 pounds. I tried every diet. I lost weight, gained it back, and blamed myself every single time. And every time I went to the doctor, the script was the same: "I'm not sure exactly what's going on. It's probably autoimmune related. Also — it would probably help if you lost some weight." Like that was a treatment plan. In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on the real reason it's so much harder for women with autoimmune conditions to lose weight — and it has nothing to do with willpower. There's actually a clear hormonal cascade going on inside your body, and once you understand it, the whole picture changes. We're covering: Why autoimmune disease creates the chronic inflammation that drives insulin resistance How insulin resistance literally locks fat in your cells (and why "eating less" can't fix it) The thyroid piece your doctor probably isn't testing for — even with Hashimoto's The role medications like steroids play in weight gain and bone density Why a doctor's casual "you should lose weight" advice isn't a plan — it's a brush-off Three specific things you can do this week to start healing I'm sharing my own story, too — including the moment my chronic migraines and cluster headaches almost completely disappeared after years of suffering. That was the moment I knew this wasn't a diet. This was healing. I want to be clear: I'm not telling you that food cured my autoimmune diseases. I still have Hashimoto's, Raynaud's, and lupus. But my body finally got what it needed — and the difference was profound. Eight years later, I've maintained over 100 pounds of weight loss, my energy is steady, and I'm finally living the life I thought I'd lost. If you've been working harder than anyone you know and getting nowhere — please, listen to this one. Ready to start healing your metabolism? Get our free guide at Thinlicious.com/happy .

Okay, let’s be honest—when was the last time you really thought about your dental work? Probably never. Okay, let’s be honest—confidence doesn’t always come easy, especially in midlife. Between the career pivots, the body changes, and the whirlwind of life, it’s easy to feel like we’ve somehow lost our spark. But what if confidence isn’t something you're either born with or not… what if it’s something you can actually build —one intentional step at a time? And what if reinvention isn't just possible at this stage of life—but actually easier because of everything you've already overcome? Today’s guest, Karen Fabian, is showing us exactly how to do that—and trust me, you’re going to want to take notes. ---------- Your Website URL Find Karen at her website: barebonesyoga.com Or on TikTok , Instagram or YouTube Get Karen's 5 Day Confidence Challenge HERE . ---------- Get our FREE guide to finally fix your metabolism! This summer I spent almost a whole month eating my way through Europe–pasta, pretzels, gelato, french fries–all the things I would normally avoid. But when I finally came home, I hadn’t actually gained any weight. It’s pretty crazy, especially when I realize that five years ago one little cheat meal would leave me three pounds heavier and spiraling with guilt for weeks. But the difference isn't willpower—it's metabolic flexibility. And once you understand what that actually means, everything about weight loss starts to make sense. I talk a lot about all the things you can do to lose weight, but not nearly enough about the freedom that happens when you actually HEAL your body. Because when I started doing all the research, I basically discovered that pretty much everything I'd ever been taught about losing weight was backwards. The calorie counting, the restriction, the willpower—all of it was actually making my problem worse. And the moment I stopped fighting my body and started working with it instead? That's when everything clicked. And so today we're going to talk about why that whole approach is completely backwards. We're diving deep into metabolic flexibility—what it actually means, why it's the real game-changer for your health, and how you can stop fighting your body and start working with it instead. By the end of this episode, you'll understand why every diet has failed you, what your body actually needs to burn fat efficiently, and how you can finally get the food freedom you've been dreaming about. Plus, I'm going to share something pretty exciting I'm launching that can help you put all of this into action for the last 90 days of this year. So let’s dig in. ---------- For the first time ever, I'm inviting you to join me behind the scenes as I plan and execute my most powerful Quarterly Sprint of the year — and design your own right alongside me.
