Ready for a time management approach that is actually designed for professional working women – ones that help you lighten the mental load, draw boundaries with more confidence, focus on the important (not just urgent) stuff at work, and be present with friends and family? Podcast host, Kelly Nolan, an attorney-turned-time management strategist, mom of two, and creator of the Bright Method™, delivers practical, realistic time management strategies tailored for busy professional women, working moms, and ambitious women juggling careers and home life. We cover topics like: How to time-block in a way that actually works and avoid common time-blocking mistakes, How to manage the mental load around all of our roles at work and at home, How to handle work deadlines with less stress and scramble, How to keep distractions in check, from social media to people swinging by your office, and How to plan in a realistic way so you can feel on top of it all and avoid overcommitment. Whether you're a lawyer, physician, executive, woman in corporate, professor, entrepreneur, or any woman navigating a full plate, this podcast gives you tools to design a sustainable system that works for your real life—not a Pinterest-perfect version of it. Follow now, and let's get you falling asleep proud of what you got done today and calm about what's on tap tomorrow.

A client said it like it was just a fact: if she pushed back on new work, those clients would take their business elsewhere and never come back. Kelly heard it and recognized the fear behind it - she'd also spent years operating from that same exact assumption. This episode is about what actually happens when you push back. Kelly makes the case that it's one of the best ways to find out who you're working with, whether they're a fit for the life you're building, and whether it's worth staying. She shares her own story from her attorney days, a client who stepped off a board after one pushback conversation, and another who got promoted five months after finally having the capacity conversation her boss didn't know was needed. If your plate is overflowing and you keep absorbing anyway, this one's worth a listen. You were probably taught this as a kid: you start a season, you finish it. No matter what. Kelly grew up with that rule too. Then parenting got messier than the theory, and she started noticing the same pattern in the women she works with. Commitments made when life looked completely different, roles that quietly turned into something three times the original size, activities that bring dread every single week. And none of them would even consider leaving early. "You finish what you start" is still running in the background, years after childhood. This episode is Kelly questioning that out loud. She looks at where the rule came from, when it serves us, and what it costs when we keep applying it past the point where it makes sense. She also talks through what an honest, clean exit looks like, because leaving early doesn't mean disappearing and handing someone a mess. If you've been white-knuckling through something that stopped working a while ago, this one's for you. In this episode of The Bright Method Podcast, Kelly Nolan riffs on a question from a friend: why does it always take so long to get out of the house in the morning, and what do you actually do about it? She walks through three things – embracing how long getting out the door actually takes (it's probably 15–20 minutes, minimum), calendaring that reality instead of your aspiration so the scramble-y feeling has somewhere to go, and the one firm rule to hold in your head as you're moving through your morning. It sounds almost too simple. But if you regularly leave the house feeling behind before your day has even started, this episode is for you. In this episode of The Bright Method Podcast, Kelly Nolan is back from the break and walks through the one line item she wants in your weekly planning session – the Clean Slate – and why reviewing last week packs a bigger punch than you'd expect. It sounds anticlimactic, almost boring, but this one line item is sneakily powerful, and its ripple effects go much further than it sounds. If you regularly end your week landing in the "I didn't do enough" story, this episode is for you. Bargaining with reality just leads to frustration, wasted energy, and missed opportunities to do something about it. Let's dig into what it can actually look like to stop fighting the things you can't change (your memory, your energy at night, your partner's limitations) and start getting creative to work with the reality you have. The goal was never to be a different person – it's to build a life that works with who you already are. 📱 Follow me on Instagram – Get bite-sized, real-life time management tips for working women—like reminders to set mail holds before travel, anonymous day-in-the-life calendars from other professional women, and behind-the-scenes looks at how I manage my own time. Responsiveness is something that has taken over American work culture. Between email, Teams/Slack, and more, there can be an assumption everyone is available at all times. But your value to your company is more than always being available – and is undercut by that approach. Let's talk about how to shift into protecting time for strategic, heads-down work – and remain as responsive as we need to be. A few years ago, I listened to this podcast episode from the Atlantic, How to Spend Time on What You Value, after a client sent it to me. You can listen here on Apple and here on Spotify . Let's talk about how our egos can lead us to pursue things that don't always align with what we say is most important to us and/or leads us away from what would actually make us happy. This is NOT to say we shouldn't have ambition or go after full careers. Not at all - I personally am very ambitious and support women going after high-powered careers. Just make sure it's what you truly want and fits with the life you want for yourself. Let's discuss!
