College can be an exciting season of new opportunities, independence, and personal growth. But it can also feel overwhelming. How do you balance classes, assignments, friendships, responsibilities, and your personal well-being? How do you stay organized, manage your time, and make the most of your college experience without feeling constantly stressed? For young ladies entering college or navigating their way through it, learning how to manage responsibilities, make thoughtful decisions, and build healthy habits is an important part of preparing for adulthood. This conversation explores seven practical tips to help college students approach their education with greater confidence, develop routines that support their goals, and make the most of the opportunities available to them. The conversation goes beyond simply getting good grades. We talk about managing your time, staying organized, building relationships, asking for help, taking care of your mental and physical well-being, managing money wisely, and learning from your mistakes. College isn't just about what you accomplish in the classroom—it's also about the habits, decisions, and life skills you develop along the way. For young ladies preparing for college or already experiencing college life, these are skills worth developing early. Parents, mentors, and other trusted adults can also play an important role in helping students navigate new responsibilities, overcome challenges, and grow into confident, capable adults. College is a time to learn not only about your chosen field of study but also about yourself, your values, and the kind of future you want to build. You'll walk away thinking about: • How to manage your time and stay on top of assignments • Why organization and consistent study habits matter • How to build meaningful friendships and a supportive community • Why asking for help is a strength, not a weakness • How to prioritize your mental and physical well-being • Why learning to budget and manage money is essential • How to learn from setbacks, stay motivated, and keep growing At Under His Wings Gulf Coast, we want them to develop the confidence, communication, leadership, emotional intelligence, and practical life skills to navigate adulthood well. Watch or listen to the full conversation, then share it with a college student or young woman preparing for this exciting next chapter of life. What does it actually mean to be a woman and who gets to define it? Young women are surrounded by competing messages about identity, femininity, strength, independence, relationships, purpose, and what it means to “be a woman.” In the middle of all those voices, what does Scripture actually say about womanhood? This conversation explores biblical womanhood, Christian identity, femininity, purpose, character, and God’s design for women. Rather than reducing womanhood to a list of expectations, we consider the bigger question: What does it look like to understand who we are through the lens of Scripture? For teen girls and young women, questions about womanhood aren't abstract. They shape how we understand our bodies, relationships, ambitions, leadership, work, family, faith, and our sense of worth. Parents, mentors, and trusted adults are navigating many of these questions alongside the young women they care about. You’ll walk away thinking about: • Who gets to define your identity • What Scripture says about the value and dignity of women • The difference between cultural expectations and biblical principles • How faith shapes the way we understand femininity, strength, purpose, and relationships • What it can look like to grow into womanhood without losing sight of who God created you to be At Under His Wings Gulf Coast, we believe young women deserve space to ask honest questions about who they are, what they believe, and the women they are becoming. Our goal is to bring truth, thoughtful conversation, and practical wisdom to the real questions young women are navigating. Watch or listen to the full conversation, and share it with a young woman, parent, mentor, or friend who is thinking about what it really means to become a woman of faith in today's culture. #BiblicalWomanhood #ChristianWomanhood #ChristianYoungWomen #BiblicalFemininity #ChristianIdentity Support the show underhiswingsgulfcoast.org Substack Instagram: @uhwgulfcoast X: @uhwgulfcoast TT: @listeninlovepod Facebook: @UHWPsalm91 LinkedIn: Under His Wings
Asking for a raise can feel incredibly uncomfortable. How do you know when you've earned the right to ask? What do you actually say? And how do you advocate for yourself without feeling demanding, entitled, or afraid of hearing “no”? For young women entering the workforce, learning to talk about salary, performance, professional growth, and compensation is an important part of becoming confident in the workplace. This conversation explores what it looks like to recognize the value you bring, communicate that value clearly, and approach a raise conversation with preparation rather than fear. The conversation goes beyond simply asking, “Can I make more money?” We talk about knowing your worth, documenting your contributions, understanding your role, communicating professionally, choosing the right time to ask, and responding when the answer isn't what you hoped for. Advocating for yourself doesn't mean demanding something you're not prepared to support; it means learning how to have an honest, professional conversation about your work and your growth. For teen girls and young women, these are skills worth developing early. Parents, mentors, and other trusted adults can also play an important role in helping young women learn how to communicate confidently, receive feedback, negotiate thoughtfully, and understand that a professional “no” does not determine their worth. You’ll walk away thinking about: • How to recognize when you may be ready to ask for a raise • What evidence to gather before starting the conversation • How to communicate your value without overselling yourself • Why preparation matters more than confidence alone • How to respond professionally if the answer is “not yet” At Under His Wings Gulf Coast, we want young women to develop more than confidence; we want them to develop the communication, leadership, emotional intelligence, and practical skills to navigate adulthood well. Watch or listen to the full conversation, then share it with a young woman who is learning how to speak up, advocate for herself, and grow professionally. #AskingForARaise #CareerAdvice #YoungWomen #WorkplaceConfidence #ProfessionalDevelopment Support the show underhiswingsgulfcoast.org Substack Instagram: @uhwgulfcoast X: @uhwgulfcoast TT: @listeninlovepod Facebook: @UHWPsalm91 LinkedIn: Under His Wings
Wanting something badly doesn’t mean you know how to take the next step. A job application can sit open for three weeks. A goal can stay on the to-do list. A young woman can genuinely care about her future and still struggle to turn intention into action. So what’s really happening when we struggle to follow through? This conversation explores the gap between wanting and doing and why that gap shouldn’t automatically be mistaken for laziness, apathy, or a character flaw. We unpack executive functioning, goal setting, follow-through, accountability, and the idea of Execution Quotient (XQ): our ability to translate a plan into action . We also look at what mentors and trusted adults can do to walk alongside young women with patience, practical support, and accountability. For teen girls and young women, learning how to execute a goal is part of growing into adulthood. For parents, mentors, educators, and other trusted adults, understanding the difference between unwillingness and an overloaded or developing skill set can completely change the way we respond. You’ll walk away thinking about: • Why wanting something and acting on it are two different skills • How executive functioning can affect planning and follow-through • Why accountability and mentorship can help strengthen execution • What it looks like to take the “next faithful step” instead of trying to accomplish everything at once • How Christians can pursue goals while remembering that our worth is not determined by our productivity or performance At Under His Wings Gulf Coast, we believe young women deserve more than criticism when they get stuck. They need truth, practical tools, healthy relationships, and people willing to walk alongside them as they grow. Watch or listen to the full episode, then share it with a young woman, parent, mentor, or trusted adult who needs the reminder: the outcome may not be within your control, but taking the next faithful step is. What if your fear of failure is keeping you from trying the very things you were made to do? Being called a “failure” in the past can leave a powerful lie behind: that one bad outcome, mistake, rejection, or unfinished attempt says something about your worth. But our actions may reveal a moment in time; they do not define our identity. When fear of failure turns into perfectionism or paralysis, we can stop pursuing the passions, gifts, and opportunities God has placed in front of us. This conversation explores fear of failure, resilience, perfectionism, and the idea of a “Failure Quotient” (FQ) —the ability to fail intelligently, learn from what happened, adjust, and keep moving forward. We look at what it means to experiment wisely, learn from mistakes, embrace feedback, and develop our God-given gifts without making perfection the goal. For teen girls and young women, this matters because fear can quietly shape the choices we make. It can keep us from applying, creating, speaking, leading, serving, sharing our faith, or developing a talent because we are afraid of getting it wrong. Parents, mentors, and trusted adults also have an important role in helping young women understand that correction is not condemnation and that a mistake does not have to become an identity. You’ll walk away thinking about: • What fear of failure may be keeping you from pursuing • The difference between failure from experimentation, human limitation, and sin • Why progress matters more than perfection • How feedback and continuous improvement can help us grow • What the Parable of the Talents teaches us about fear, stewardship, and using what God has entrusted to us At Under His Wings Gulf Coast, we want young women to know that their worth is already secure in Christ. Growth doesn't require perfection. Sometimes faithful obedience is messy, uncomfortable, and imperfect—but the goal is to keep getting back up and keep walking. Watch or listen to the full episode, then share it with a young woman, parent, mentor, or friend who may need the reminder: emphasize the rising, not the falling. Is bringing your iced coffee to a job interview completely normal or is it a workplace etiquette debate waiting to happen? In this quick bonus conversation, Arcelia (boss) and Kimberly (GenZ Employee) weigh in on one of the very serious questions of modern workplace culture: Can Gen Z bring iced coffee into a job interview? What looks like a simple coffee order can actually open the door to a bigger conversation about professionalism, workplace culture, generational differences, and how we navigate expectations that may not always be written down. Growing professionally means learning that the question isn't just, “Can I?” It's also, “What does this communicate, and what's expected in this environment?” Grab your iced coffee and listen in. Then tell us: Is iced coffee at work perfectly acceptable—or does it cross a professional line? Why do we feel alone? Not every connection is communion. And not every relationship is actually healthy, including the ones directly at our fingertips. In this episode, we talk about how to navigate healthy relationships using a framework called Relational Quotient (RQ): your capacity to form, discern, steward, maintain, and repair relationships. We dig into why loneliness can choose our relationships for us if we're not careful, what parasocial relationships are and why they can feel more real than the ones directly in front of you, and how to tell the difference between a relationship that's healthy and one that's not. We also talk about conflict, specifically, whether you tend to become a peacefaker who avoids it, a peacebreaker who explodes, or a peacemaker who does the harder work of repair. This matters because almost every teen girl and young woman is navigating some version of this right now: a friendship that feels one-sided, an online connection that doesn't match reality, a fight that never got resolved, or a quiet loneliness they don't know what to do with. Parents and mentors watching a daughter withdraw, over-attach, or avoid conflict entirely will recognize these patterns immediately. By the end of this episode, you'll be able to spot the difference between a relationship built on discernment and one built on loneliness, understand what it actually means to steward a relationship instead of using it, recognize your own default response to conflict, and see why healthy boundaries and forgiveness aren't opposites. You'll also walk away with a clearer picture of where your sense of security is really coming from. Under His Wings Gulf Coast has these conversations because relationships are where a lot of the real work of identity and self-worth actually gets tested in real friendships, real conflict, and real moments of loneliness. This episode is part of our ongoing Self-Worth Series, built from years of walking alongside young women through exactly this. Your feelings will tell you a different story about who you are every single day. If your identity is built on how you feel, it will never hold steady. That's where Spiritual Quotient comes in. In this episode, we unpack Spiritual Quotient (SQ) — sometimes called spiritual intelligence — and what it actually means to know who you are, why you exist, and what is meant to anchor you when everything else shifts. We look at Moses, a man who once doubted he was capable of the very purpose God had called him to, and trace what changed between his fear at the burning bush and his confidence at the Red Sea. We also talk honestly about what it means to be a "Daughter of God," and why that phrase is life-altering when you actually understand the authority and identity behind it. This conversation matters because most young women aren’t struggling with a lack of information, they're struggling with a lack of grounding . Culture offers a hundred competing answers for who you should be, and without something steady underneath, it's easy to be shaped by whatever opinion or trend is loudest that week. Parents and mentors watching a daughter get pulled in different directions will recognize this immediately: the real battle usually isn’t behavior, it’s identity. By the end of this episode, you'll have language for questions you're asking, who you're allowing to define you, whether you believe your life has purpose beyond achievement, what your actions reveal about what you actually believe about God, and what habits or relationships are keeping you rooted. You'll also walk away understanding that spiritual growth isn't a score to chase; it's a grace to receive. Under His Wings Gulf Coast exists because we've watched these questions play out in real relationships and real decisions with the young women we walk alongside in the actual work of becoming who God made them to be. This episode is part of our ongoing Self-Worth Series, built from years of walking alongside girls and young women through exactly this method. You can't control what happens to you. Job loss, a friendship that ends, a diagnosis, a season that just won't let up, but you can control how you respond. That response has a name: your Adversity Quotient, and it might be the single biggest factor in whether you come out of a hard season stronger or stay stuck. In this conversation, we break down the Adversity Quotient (AQ) — a framework developed by Dr. Paul Stoltz that measures how much control you believe you have over a hard situation, whether you take ownership of your response, how far you let it bleed into other areas of your life, and how long you expect it to last. We talk through Stoltz's three types of people facing adversity: quitters, who walk away; campers, who make some progress and then settle; and climbers, who keep moving even when it's slow. And we ask the harder question underneath all of it: where does faith fit into resilience, and what does it look like to persevere with grace? This matters because every teen girl and young woman listening is somewhere on that mountain right now, whether or not she has language for it. So is every parent watching a daughter go quiet, every mentor trying to know when to push and when to let someone rest, every family navigating a hard season together. Understanding AQ gives you a way to name what's happening instead of just feeling stuck in it and a way to talk about it with the young woman in your life instead of guessing. By the end of this episode, you'll walk away with a clearer picture of where you tend to land when adversity shows up, why “stopping” isn't always the same as “quitting,” how ownership and perspective change the way hardship affects you long-term, and what it means to let your faith carry the weight your own strength can’t. You'll also hear a personal story about how a teenage scholarship essay turned into a lifelong lesson about what adversity is actually for. Under His Wings Gulf Coast exists because young women deserve more than surface-level encouragement: they deserve real tools for real life, grounded in both research and their identity in Christ. This conversation is part of our ongoing Self-Worth Series, built from over 15 years of walking alongside girls and young women through exactly these seasons. What happens to our emotional intelligence when AI becomes part of the way we communicate, make decisions, and navigate relationships? In this episode of Listen In Love: What Every Young Woman Needs to Know , Under His Wings Gulf Coast explores emotional intelligence (EQ/EI), self-worth, healthy relationships, and emotional maturity in an increasingly digital and AI-driven world. Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize and manage our own emotions while understanding and responding appropriately to the emotions of others. For young women, developing emotional intelligence can shape friendships, family relationships, future workplaces, conflict resolution, communication, and overall personal growth. We discuss why AI cannot replace genuine human connection , how emotional intelligence helps us understand what may be happening behind someone's behavior , and why learning to regulate our emotions can prevent hurt feelings from becoming anger, division, or offense. You'll also hear practical ways to strengthen emotional intelligence in everyday life, including: • Practicing self-awareness and emotional regulation • Listening instead of making assumptions • Asking thoughtful questions • Learning to apologize and forgive • Celebrating others without comparison • Practicing wisdom and discernment online • Using AI responsibly when navigating relationships • Seeking God, parents, mentors, and trusted friends for wisdom • Remembering that every person is made in the image of God Most importantly, we explore Christian emotional intelligence through the lens of Scripture. Emotional maturity isn't simply about becoming a better communicator—it is about learning to love God and love others well. As artificial intelligence becomes more influential in the lives of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, the ability to build authentic relationships, practice empathy, communicate wisely, and show grace will only become more important. This episode is for teen girls, young women, parents, mentors, educators, youth leaders, and anyone investing in the next generation. 🎧 Listen to Listen In Love: What Every Young Woman Needs to Know for Christ-centered conversations about self-worth, relationships, personal development, faith, and growing into the woman God created you to be. What does biblical modesty really mean—and is it about more than just clothing? In this episode, we sit down with Annie , a young leader and member of the SLB (Student Leadership Board), to talk about Christian modesty, identity in Christ, leadership, and living out your faith with confidence . Annie shares about her passion project—starting a community run club —and what she has learned about discipline, leadership, and serving others . She also shares about a topic needed in Christian spaces: modesty . Instead of focusing on rules or shame, Annie reframes modesty as something deeper: a heart posture toward God that flows from our identity as His sons and daughters. In this conversation we discuss: • Why modesty conversations often miss the heart • Why modesty isn’t just for women—it’s for men too • How identity in Christ shapes how we dress, speak, and carry ourselves • Navigating the pressure of being labeled “too churchy” • Practical ways to pursue modesty while still being stylish, confident, and authentic • Why modesty should be rooted in freedom and love, not obligation If you’re a young Christian navigating faith, culture, and identity , this episode will encourage you to pursue obedience to God with grace instead of perfection . I Want to Be A Mentor! I Want to Be Mentored In this episode, we explore the power of mentorship—and why it remains one of the most effective ways to build confidence, character, and self-worth in young women. Through honest conversation and lived experience, we show how mentorship isn’t just helpful—it’s transformational. Hosted by leaders from Under His Wings Gulf Coast , this discussion unpacks why creating intentional mentoring environments is critical for families, churches, and communities. We also share how Under His Wings is actively building spaces where mentorship can flourish, with a vision to expand into churches and broader community settings. This episode is structured around generational perspective: Arcelia , speaking as a parent and mentor, shares what it looks like to support young women without overstepping, how mentoring grew her own confidence, and why obedience—not perfection—qualified her to step in. Kimberly offers the perspective of a young woman who was being mentored before she even realized she needed it—learning firsthand that strength doesn’t mean isolation, and that God works powerfully through relationships and humility. Together, they discuss: What mentorship really is (and what it isn’t) How mentorship helps young women understand their value and purpose Why mentorship is biblical, not just cultural What makes a healthy mentor-mentee relationship What to do if mentorship feels awkward or imperfect at first How mentorship looks different across ages, seasons, and roles We also highlight that mentorship doesn’t always have to be formal. Teens mentor middle schoolers. Adults mentor younger women. Sometimes it’s structured, sometimes it’s a conversation over coffee, but it’s always relational. If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t know enough to mentor” or “I wish I had someone like that,” this episode is for you. 👉 Interested in learning more? In this episode, we invite you to come and see what God is doing through Under His Wings Gulf Coast . What began with one clear calling has grown into multiple programs designed to meet the real, evolving needs of young women and families in our community. This conversation centers on growth, vision, and obedience, how listening to God and to the voices of those we serve has led to expansion without losing the heart of the mission. From residential care at Courage Home to leadership development, mentorship, counseling, and pro-active initiatives like G.L.E.A.N., we explore how each new branch has been a response to need, not a departure from purpose. We’ll talk about: The original “why” behind Under His Wings and who it was created to serve The unchanging core values of faith, healing, restoration, and self-worth Why self-worth is foundational for young women and why so many aren’t receiving it in our communities How growth happens intentionally when God is at work What makes this model different from traditional approaches What’s ahead, what we’re praying for, and what excites us most about the future! This episode is both a reflection and an invitation, to witness fresh fruit, to celebrate what God is growing, and to consider how churches, partners, and community members can join in the mission.
