We approach a charity script with some conversational levity, but without throwing away the main points, and discover that some people work in very different ways. We also ask is it ever worth breaking a script down line by line, and do you build a list, or give each item a slightly different flavour? Community-based volunteers are the social glue between individuals, groups and organisations. They boost community cohesion, bond people together and bridge differences. Within any community 20% of people are great at getting things done. Volunteers are ordinary people but they can achieve extraordinary things. Their super talents are simple: practical skills, local knowledge, common sense, familiarity with different situations, a myriad of contacts - and the ability to discover the stories and traditions that make a community special. Script 2 The seminal example, of course, is using bow wow to mean a dog and not just to imitate a dog’s barking, providing the impetus for the theory’s moniker. In a somewhat similar vein, the pooh-pooh theory hypothesized that language evolved from the interjections (ah!) and emotional cries humans made, like the primordial grunt that still escapes when you painfully stub your toe. Müller’s own idea was that sounds themselves carried intrinsic meaning, like a low-¬pitched sound giving off a sense of something big, i.e., as in a blob (low vowel) compared to the smaller sounding bleeb (high vowel). She was running across the croquet lawn to speak to her sister-in-law, when she tripped over a hoop that had been accidentally left there, and, in falling, ran a hatpin into her head. Blood poisoning ensued, and within a fortnight she was dead. Martha was the only one in the house who associated Mary's accident and death with the Piper; and she could not but suspect that, in some way or another, he had brought about the catastrophe. Script 2 When your grandma picked out that shirt, did she tell you she hated you or could you guess? If you're wondering why your friends are running faster, get a mirror! It's you not me! He turned to a wealthy local financier Johann Fust, borrowing heavily to fund the production of his printing press and expand operations. By 1455, Gutenberg's press had already produced a series of printed documents and, most remarkably, a magnificent Latin Bible—an achievement that would forever change the spread of knowledge. But just as Gutenberg stood on the brink of success, disaster struck. Script 2 By the time he got to his desk the following morning, Stirling’s abdomen still felt like he’d done a hundred crunches, and he groaned at the pain as he sat down. He didn’t intend to get up soon and feel that again. He spent half an hour going through the paperwork in his desk, signing off on things and putting papers in their proper piles for filing. Each time he bent his stomach even a little, it reminded him of the cramped muscles there. He picked up the phone and started looking through his notebook for his doctor's number. I get this kind of brain fog. I can’t think of the right thing or say the right word… it's slightly fuzzy a lot of the time. And I have to kind of have it explained, have to things explained in like two or three ways to then fully kind of understand it… yeah. Sometimes, my thoughts move so quickly that I can't like put together sentences or I…I don't know, I think I just - I struggle to say things, so I'll let other people sort of answer for me.
