Nico Tatarowicz was a busy, in-demand TV comedy writer and actor between around 2005 and the bloody pandemic. He loved it. It was sort of who he was. Since then 72% of the freelancers in the telly industry have found themselves seriously struggling for work. Including Nico who is now pluckily trying to find new ways to stay afloat, inspired and frankly alive. Follow his brutally honest accounts of his sometimes bleak, sometimes joyous and often hilarious adventures, which were usually in Linda the camper van- (until she was stolen) As he keeps us updated on his mission to find himself and a sense of purpose in a fractured world.

Welcome to Finding Nico. The podcast where you follow me, comedy writer Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is in this crazy, unpredictable era of shifting tides, wonky career paths and general madness. ------------------- Hello my dears Am not feeling too well this last few days, but I wanted to kick off this months offering with a little solo catch up so that is what you have got. I wanted to catch some of the very welcome waves of positivity I have had as a result of a small upturn in fortune and some new opportunities teaching and such. Annoyingly I have had to do so whilst being stuffed up by this years first round of lergie but as I have already told you, snot that bad. Later in the week I shall upload some more CUCY fun with Robin, my self and a few silly characters. Do try and have a good week even if you have a thick gungey head Nico x ------------------- If you enjoy what I do and would like to help support all the time and effort I lovingly put into the show, then PLEASE consider becoming a paid subcriber to my Patreon! Welcome to Finding Nico. The podcast where you follow me, comedy writer Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is in this crazy, unpredictable era of shifting tides, wonky career paths and general madness. ------------------- Dear Robin and I have thus far recorded three episodes of CUYC and I have to say it feels like it might be a format I really enjoy. As you will notice in this episode there are the rumblings of a power struggle beginning, but that is to be expected of a showbiz newblood. I will soon bring him to heel when he realises that Father Tatarowicz is the man who built this tiny universe, and who's editing not only makes this episode a creative triumph, but also can be turned to sinister ends to make him look like a very silly boy if he doesn't watch his foul little mouth! This week you are treated to appearances from Mrs Kibber from downstairs, our 'problem uncle' Sir Alan Crisp and a delightful bit of trippy over-dinner smalltalk. Enjoy won't you. And do Cheer Up You C***s Nicolas (and Robin) x ------------------- If you enjoy what I do and would like to help support all the time and effort I lovingly put into the show, then PLEASE consider becoming a paid subcriber to my Patreon! Welcome to Finding Nico. The podcast where you follow me, comedy writer Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is in this crazy, unpredictable era of shifting tides, wonky career paths and general madness. ------------------- Well what a mad fer it turn of events the last few days have been. As I will explain in this episode I wasn't sure what I would talk to you all about but wanted to do a solo pod for you all then two things happened. Firstly I found the audio of me getting my Liam Gallagher wig cut in May before depping as Liam with Oasas for a couple of gigs, then Oasis' amazing teaser campaign kicked in and gave us all a date to get excited about. Of course today has gone and been the day that Oasis 27 has been announced and it looks like an absolute mammoth of a tour, wow. I mean how many tickets are we talking? 2 Million? Someone do the maths for me I'm shite at it. Off the back of this ace news for Oasis fans everywhere, I have fashioned you an episode with my Oasas depping experience in the miggle with a sort of excited catch up as the bread (barm if you're asking). Enjoy and good luck getting tickets everyone Looks like it's time for me to crawl right up Morgans arsehole again maybe I'll Find Nico was up there all along. Welcome to Finding Nico. The podcast where you follow me, comedy writer Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is in this crazy, unpredictable era of shifting tides, wonky career paths and general madness. ------------------- No you are not seeing things. I have REALLY edited and posted a second podcast episode in a few days. Surely this is some sort of personal record of efficiency and productivity. Imagine what will be possible when the ADHD drugs finally arrive. There is also another CUYC episode in the bag. Which I will drop next week. This one though, if I may say so, is a pretty special episode in my opinion. I met up with one of the best buskers in Brighton 'August Radio Project' and we had a joint busk, as well as interviewing each other. I interviewed him for you guys, and he interviewed me right back for his excellent youtube channel all about navigating the busking life. An episode he charmingly titled 'Is it CRINGE to be an Older Musician?' Y ou can watch it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg_qkWkBJCY&t=32s Anyway enjoy the episode. And be warned it does contain a few songs so skip on to the talky bits if you are dead inside and have no soul Nico x ------------------- If you enjoy what I do and would like to help support all the time and effort I lovingly put into the show, then PLEASE consider becoming a paid subcriber to my Patreon! Welcome to Finding Nico. The podcast where you follow me, comedy writer Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is in this crazy, unpredictable era of shifting tides, wonky career paths and general madness. ------------------- Well here we bloody are look. A new dawn in Finding Nico lore begins. With the Linda the Campervan era now sadly, firmly behind me (rest assured I will buy a new Van as soon as is humanly possible) I have been stroking my rather stressed and somewhat depressed chin for the summer trying to figure out what me podcasting looks like that that four-wheeled gorgeous side-kick is no longer here to five proceeding a context and literally a drive to my attempts to try and get some momentum in my life. I have had quite a tough summer mentally with one thing or another and it has not felt like the road ahead for my listeners is to record myself when I'm despondent or lacking in hope, so for that reason I have come up with a monthly formula that should shake things up a bit. Instead of moping about on benches on my own, I am going to be teaming up with my friend Robin (Rob, but Robin suits him better) in his lovely Georgian Brighton flat in and attempt to raise a smile or two from each other, and hopefully for you. These episodes will be called 'Cheer Up You C*nts, though I probably won't say it out loud as much as we have in this one, which starts in Robins flat and ends up on The Beach with a little barbecue on the go. You will also hear from Sir Allan Crisp for the first time. A local highly regarded eccentric, who has agreed to answer readers problems. If you would like Sir Allan to help YOU with a life problem, send them via Nico's inbox @_finding_nico_ on Istagram ------------------- If you enjoy what I do and would like to help support all the time and effort I lovingly put into the show, then PLEASE consider becoming a paid subcriber to my Patreon! Welcome to Finding Nico. The podcast where you follow me, comedy writer Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is in this crazy, unpredictable era of shifting tides, wonky career paths and general madness. ------------------- Okay Hi Everyone. You may note it has been a bit quiet on my free feed the last few months. That's because there has been a lot going on personally. If you follow _finding_nico_ on Instagram you may already know that I had a bit of a bumpy journey after my beloved camper. van and sometimes, my home 'Linda' was stolen in early April. Alongside a protracted house sale and some other nonsense I have not been in a great place. That said, I somehow found the wherewithal to create 6 episodes of Looking For LInda, a sort of petty true crime account of eveything that happened when the van was nicked with a LOT of personal stuff in it, and literally my bed! For now Looking for Linda is exclusive to my Patreon listeners at patreon.com/findingnicothepodcast Despite all the pain it's a bloody good listen and is made of audio I captured as I was bang in the middle of the ordeal that played out. It's sad and funny and if you have not heard it yet I humbly ask you to consider signing up on Patreon and giving it a listen as a paid member. Every sub helps me cushion the blow of such a huge faff. Meanwhile back here in 'wherever you get your podcasts' land. I will now continue sharing my life journey and adventures, as there is still plenty of finding of the real nico for me to do. I have been trying to line up teaching work, have had some fun comedy based stuff starting to warm up but one of the things making me happiest is when I get paid in any capacity to be part of the music scene. You may or may not know that I have a little venture going that I call Music Dad or @itsmusicdad on Insta....And today I am uploading a 'Music Dad' episode! Why, because in late April I was hired as Music Dad to drive up and coming Geordie Fusion Jazzers KNATS on their UK Tour. And KNATS have just been nominated for the actual Mercury Music Prize. Amazing news. Anyway this episode is made of various bits I recorded along the way as they toured their soon to be celebrated album A Great Day In Newcastle. The tour was just what I needed at the time as the fallout from Linda being nicked had got me pretty low, on top of the ongoing saga of trying to sell my house. Also it was just a bit of work with me knowing what I was doing for a 10 days which is rare in my freelance life. It was great spending time with a young band just as the music world starts to notice them. Enjoy Nico ------------------- If you enjoy what I do and would like to help support all the time and effort I lovingly put into the show, then PLEASE consider becoming a paid subcriber to my Patreon! Welcome to Finding Nico. The podcast where you follow me, comedy writer Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is in this crazy, unpredictable era of shifting tides, wonky career paths and general madness. ------------------- Hello there sods So after dragging my patreon subscribers through a pretty tough mental health moment with me a couple of weeks ago, I have been trying to piece myself together and get podding in the wild again after a very tough winter. Tbh I was not quite sure where the ole Finding Nico spirit was going to start to flourish again, but then the time came for me to jump in Linda and head down to Tavistock in Devon, and then Southampton for double-gig weekender supporting Oasis Supernova. It's the third time I have done this pilgrimage and as soon as I set off my nervous system knew we were doing something we knew we were going to enjoy. Which is pretty good stuff after weeks of rumination or anxiety. As you will hear my winter of discontent began to fall away and then the gigs themselves were a powerful reminder of what it feels like to be the proper you, doing something you love and reminding you you have stuff in your locker to be proud of. 1865 club in Southampton now holds two very special memories for me and has given me a thirst for many more musical experiences. Something my brain was not capable of just a few short weeks ago. Thank you all for your patience with me the last few months. There's life in the old dog yet. Welcome to Finding Nico (Formerly Known as Stupid Hearts Club) The podcast where you follow me, Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is going to be, now that the TV industry has melted like a snowman in a volcano. Taking my career with it. ------------------- One of the hats I am wearing as I figure out how to survive in the cruel hinterland of my TV writer comedy heyday is that of 'Music Dad'. A badge and idea that has become very dear to me as I submerge myself into the grass roots music scenes of Brighton and beyond, anbout 30 years later than you are supposed to. Ronnie, as you will hear, actually played a key part in me daring to start fraternising with musicians again as a middle aged old fool. I recorded our chat last week in the Lion and Lobster in Brighton. Have been meaning to get Ronnie on for ages but we could never get the timing right and then BOSH, there he was already not shutting up at any point for over three hours. Taste of my own medicine without a doubt. He's got a story or two has Ronnie. Enjoy. Music Dad x BTW if you hear this before the 16th Nov and there are any tickets left, Ronnie is DJ'ing for Babyshambles! Hear all about it in the ep! ------------------- If you enjoy what I do and would like to help support all the time and effort I lovingly put into the show, then PLEASE consider becoming a paid subcriber to my Patreon! ------------------- Hey my angels Summer has well and truly gone but I still have a few weeks to go until I move into a rented room for the winter. Last week I decided to set off slowly from Brighton to Manchester. I stopped in London to see friends, then swung by St Albans where I stocked up on van snacks in the Iceland in The Range (classy). I decided to stop halfway, just outside Leicester for a pub scran and kipped in the carpark as the pub was on 'Search for Sites', an app that is super useful for vanlifers, caravan owners etc that shows you lots of places you can legally stay overnight. You simply check out the map and tap on the suggested campsites, laybys, pubs and caravan sites to see what they have to offer. I got in the poddy mood as I was on the road, had a little giggle at a sticky toilet floor and then chilled in Linda before bed which is where most of this ep is recorded. And as usual, I slept like a baby. Enjoy my musings..... Welcome to Finding Nico: The Podcast (Formerly Known as Stupid Hearts Club) The podcast where you follow me, Nico Tatarowicz, trying to figure out who I am and what my purpose is going to be, now that the TV industry has melted like a snowman in a volcano. Taking my career with it. ------------------- Hullo there my loves This week I found myself parked up near Basildon where I am helping to cut back and old lady's front garden (Stop it) for one of my lovely Patrons. I will kind of do anything for cash at this point, and it's actually becoming quite liberating. My head has been quite messy lately but on Monday night I suddenly got the urge to catch talk so you can now catch up on all my Linda based misadventures. I will be safely indoors in an Air BnB in a few weeks so this summers mission of house-sitting and van-lifing will soon be at an end. Though my plans for Linda and me are really only just getting started now I know how to handle being inside her (stop it) for days and weeks at a time. Anyway, if you are new here know this. I have no f*cking idea how I am supposed to survive the next few years but I am going to bloody keep cracking on until I figure it out.... I hope you enjoy this rather open and honest episode of the newly christened Finding Nico..... Welcome to Stupid Hearts Club. The Entertainment Community for everyone with a creative, open, loving, romantic and gloriously stupid heart! ------------------- Hey there my Stupid Hearted Angels We are fast approaching the end of Lindas Hot Summer. As I write this she is on my cousins driveway in Frome, Somerset snoring while I dog, cat and house sit for my cousin 'Our Lawrence'. I think I'll do an episode on Frome, as I am going to busk here too before I leave. Meanwhile the ep I just dropped is a beaut I think. It's one made of bits of field audio and linking bits done afterwards. I like doing it this way but it does take longer to get round to the edit cos it's much more tricky. So sorry you had to wait for this one, I think you'll find it was worth the wait when you hear how my recent trip to Guernsey to play a gig went. It certainly takes a bit of a detour when I arrive on the Isle of Sark, and I am super glad that I captured some of that stuff in the moment cos it is megalols. A big thanks for Charles Sherbourne for enticing me over there. And for my tour of the Island. I will be back in Linda for sure. Welcome to Stupid Hearts Club. The Podcast Community for everyone with a creative, open, loving, romantic and gloriously stupid heart! ------------------- Hello you lot I am talking to friend and fellow exhausted comedy-writer Alistair Griggs. If you have been following me a long time you will know that Griggs and I like to have quite, dark, explorative and sometimes bleak conversations. This one took place whilst sitting in the rather glorious gardens of a North London flat I was looking after while some other pals were away. Linda had a nice rest and I actually missed her. As a rule, Griggs doesn't usually connect with nature, or sentiment or, well anything at all really, as you will hear. But i believe something wonderful happened here and as the chat progressed he grudgingly accepted, ever so briefly, just a sliver of light. Enjoy and remember. It's good to talk. Welcome to Stupid Hearts Club. The Entertainment Community for everyone with a creative, open, loving, romantic and gloriously stupid heart! ------------------- Hey there my Stupid Hearted angels. Here is another installment of my very weird summer of house-sitting, slumming it in Linda and crossing my fingers for my house to get sold. This episode was recorded while I was on a flat-sit in London, and I write these notes, having been in the van for another week after that stint ended, sitting in yet another friends home while they are in Sri-Lanka. it's a nice gaff this. Each time it is the kitchen and khazi that I am most grateful for. But this family are lols and its just as cool here when they are home. This episode sees me getting a bit wistful about internet chest-beating and online arguing, as well as just shitting on about the van and my techniques for getting through the rough times. I hope it is of some use to someone. We need to stick together kids. Anyway- Enjoyyyyyy and btw next ep is with none other than Mr Alistair Griggs and is pretty fricking funny in my opinion.... It took a while to get my ducks in a row the last few weeks, but we are in business baby. Old uncle Nico Van Diesel is now officially on the road in Linda the camper van for the next few months having packed up his whole life into a storage unit in Shoreham. The van is truly my oyster now. The trouble being Oysters are actually not very nice, and neither is toileting in a van! Now what? Keep following me here to find out how the journey through heaven n hell goes, as I go in search of a financially viable version of this so called freedom everyone talks about! Welcome to Stupid Hearts Club. The Entertainment Community for everyone with a creative, open, loving, romantic and gloriously stupid heart! ------------------- Hey there my Stupid Hearted angels. This weeks pod is a Music Dad episode from when Ian from Oasis Supernova and myself drove from Tavistock to Southampton between amazing gig nights a few weeks ago. We chatted about getting off your arse and being creative with how to make your life interesting. And even increase the ways in which you make a living! And Music Dad will have some of that. This ep has taken a few extra days to sort out but I think it's a really cool chat we had and I hope you love it. Especially if you have got an inkling to get out and play music or do whatever project you suspect makes you happy. Welcome to Stupid Hearts Club. The Entertainment Community for everyone with a creative, open, loving, romantic and gloriously stupid heart! ------------------- Hey there my Stupid Hearted angels. This week I have a lovely episode for you in which Linda and myself took ourselves off for a weekend playing not one but TWO paid music gigs in different towns! The first was a solo gig in Tavistock Devon, and the second was a 45 min support slot with my Indie UK Covers band British Indie Company in Southampton. Both gigs were supporting the fabulous and increasingly successful Oasis tribute outfit 'Oasis Supernova'. Anyway, this episode is mainly me driving and navel gazing about how great it is to get such projects going so you have stuff to do that you love in your life and there's a bit of BTS gig fun too. Enjoy! Welcome to Stupid Hearts Club. The Entertainment Community for everyone with a creative, open, loving, romantic and gloriously stupid heart! ------------------- Hey there my Stupid Hearted angels. Now looking at the title of this episode you would be forgiven for thinking that there's not a lot of mileage in this one. But you are underestimating my talent for getting emotional dramatic content out of being in Linda the camper van. I did that this time by putting the wrong fricking fuel in her, getting my long awaited trip to Vietnam off to an absolute bastard of a start. I'd like to think I then turned my moaninng into stoic, pragmatic gold. Or at least tin. Enjoy the musings.... Welcome to Stupid Hearts Club. The Entertainment Community for everyone with a creative, open, loving, romantic and gloriously stupid heart! ------------------- Hey there my Stupid Hearted angels. Alice Lowe is possibly the most fruitful creative person I know. In fact, when I went to her house, even her actual fruit bowl contained turnips, bananas, peppers, a pomegranate and much much more. I think that image kind of works as a very strong analogy for her output. As the reigning indie queen of UK cinema Alice has already delivered three cult classics with Sightseers, Prevenge and last years Timestalker, and in my opinion she is only just getting going. This chat is part 2 of a recording I did when I visited her near Stroud in my camper van Linda. This weeks chat is more about Alices career and our shared (and differing) experiences as UK writers in and around the world of comedy and the arts. It's a fantastic conversation that any budding or (struggling) creative will benefit from. There is a section of the conversation that is a little compromised by a zip or a button tapping Alices mic that I could not get rid of as it's woven into her words. So sorry about that, but I still think its v listenable, and Alices wisdom and wit will see us all through.
