Published by Zarina Boily | Money & ADHD Coach for Women
Money can bring every ADHD challenge to the surface — impulsive spending, forgotten bills, avoidance, decision fatigue, debt stress, or earning good money and still wondering where it all went. Phenomenally ADHD is a podcast for women with ADHD who want to understand what is really happening with their money and learn to manage it in a way that works with their uniquely wired brain instead of fighting it. If money feels harder than it “should” — whether that means overspending, avoiding your numbers, struggling to save, forgetting financial tasks, feeling overwhelmed by decisions, or having no idea where your money keeps disappearing — you’re in the right place. Hosted by Zarina Boily, ADHD & Money coach and a woman with ADHD herself, this podcast explores ADHD through the lens of money because money touches almost everything: how we plan, decide, spend, earn, save, avoid, recover, and trust ourselves. You’ll learn how ADHD can influence: • impulsive and emotional spending • money avoidance and financial overwhelm • planning, saving, and following through • decision fatigue and executive-function friction • money habits, patterns, and triggers • self-trust and the way you define financial success Outspoken, funny, and enthusiastic, Zarina brings a practical edge to the money struggles so many ADHD women quietly carry, making complicated things feel simpler, more manageable, and far less exhausting. This is not about forcing yourself into budgets, routines, or financial systems that were never built for your brain. It is about understanding your patterns, using your strengths, reducing mental effort, and creating a more intentional and empowering relationship with money. You gain so much when you do money the ADHD way. That is how you move out of chaos and into clarity. You get to define success, money, meaning, and fulfillment on your own terms. Because the goal is not to blend in. The goal is to be true to yourself and phenomenally stand out in your own way. If you’re ready to stop trying to figure it all out alone and investigate what’s really going on with your money, a Breakthrough Coaching Session gives you personalized support to identify the money friction getting in your way and what to do next.

You’re successful in areas of your life that require far more complicated decisions than paying a bill or checking an account balance. So why can money be the thing you just… can’t make yourself deal with? If you have ADHD, knowing what to do with money and being able to start doing it are not necessarily the same thing. And that distinction matters. In this episode, we’re looking beneath the usual “I just need to be more disciplined” explanation and exploring what may actually be happening when you repeatedly struggle to start financial tasks you know are important. You’ll hear why something as seemingly straightforward as “manage my money” can create so much friction: too many decisions, no obvious starting point, working-memory demands, delayed rewards, boredom, overwhelm, and the emotions money itself can carry. I’ll also share what I personally do on days when my capacity seems to have taken a vacation—and why asking yourself for the three tiniest things you can start and finish may be more useful than trying to force your brain into a task it currently experiences as enormous. In this bonus episode, you’ll learn: • Why knowing what to do doesn’t automatically make starting easier • Why importance and motivation don’t tell the whole story • Four common reasons an ADHD brain can struggle to initiate a task • Why money management contains far more invisible steps than it appears to • How decision fatigue and working-memory overload can show up with finances • Why fear, guilt, frustration, and overwhelm can make ordinary financial tasks feel loaded • What happens when your physical, emotional, or mental capacity is depleted • How the “three tiniest things” approach can help reduce the activation threshold One idea to take with you You may not always need to make yourself try harder. Sometimes you need to make the starting point smaller. As I say in this episode: “Starting becomes easier for your brain when the starting threshold is reduced.” If you know what you want to change with your money but repeatedly struggle to get started or follow through, my Breakthrough Consultation is designed to help identify the ADHD money challenge creating the most friction and turn one financial goal into a personalized strategy and action plan. 👩💻 Breakthrough consultation with Zarina Any questions? You’re already juggling work, family, schedules, lunches, activities, and a million little decisions—then back-to-school hits and somehow the spending starts adding up faster than expected. If you have ADHD, that may not be a coincidence. Back-to-school can amplify the exact challenges that already make money harder to manage: time blindness, decision overload, last-minute urgency, planning friction, and the pressure to make everything work. And sometimes, overspending isn’t really about impulsiveness. It’s about your brain trying to make life easier. In this episode, I’m breaking down why back-to-school can become especially expensive when you have ADHD—and what you can do to reduce the stress, decisions, and friction that can quietly push your spending higher. You’ll learn: • How back-to-school adds dozens of small decisions that can overload your ADHD brain • Why spending can become a way to reduce friction when you’re stressed • How time blindness can make planning and saving ahead harder • Why traditional advice like “start early” or “compare prices” don't work • How creating defaults helps reduce your mental load • A simple way to make future time more visible • How to start putting money aside AND get a dopamine hit One of the most important questions in this episode is: What problem was I trying to make easier when I decided to buy this? Because when you understand what your ADHD brain was trying to solve, you can start changing the pattern without simply telling yourself to “spend less.” If back-to-school has you feeling overwhelmed, behind, or surprised by how much you’re spending, this episode will help you understand what may actually be happening underneath it. Tell me in the comments: What back-to-school decision drains your brain the fastest—meals, schedules, school supplies, activities, or something else? Any questions? Could ADHD struggles be shaped by something deeper — something personal ? This is a question I've asked myself every time I did a personality quiz because interestingly enough, there were a number of similarities pointing directly to ADHD traits. In this episode, I dig into the science behind why ADHD symptoms might actually reflect who you are — your personality — not just the label we slap on. We’ll unpack the famed “Big Five” personality traits, explore how they overlap with ADHD, and give you concrete tests you can take (and what to do with the results). If you’ve ever felt like ADHD is only part of your story, this one’s for you. Expect science + self‑awareness + a little Gen X sass. What you’ll learn: The Big Five personality traits (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism) — what they are, how they show up. How these traits map onto ADHD symptoms and executive‑function challenges. That ADHD isn’t the only explanation for why you act, feel, think the way you do. Your personality plays a huge role. Practical tests you can take (Big Five, 16 Personalities, Sacred Money Archetypes) to get clearer on you . Why knowing your personality and ADHD profile helps you build strategies that amplify your strengths (instead of just “fixing your deficits”). 16 Personalities Quiz Myers Briggs personality test Sacred Money Archetypes assessment 👀 Watch on YouTube and subscribe Any questions?
