In this Episode I talk about one of my favorite films ever which is Uncut Gems from the Safdie Brothers. It is easy to argue within a normative individualist framework that the Protagonist of the movie is to be held responsible for his actions within his journey in the movie. In the Podcast i make the opposite point though: Howard is very much a product of his environment - a particular capitalist environment.
In the first ever episode of Critical Therapy i take a critical look at the Dark Knight and his understanding of crime and his approach to fighting criminality. I will draw references to social theories from authors such as Karl Marx, Robert K. Merton and Sally Haslanger.
