We have more ways to connect than ever before, yet so many people feel profoundly disconnected. Dating apps offer us seemingly endless options, but those options can make people feel increasingly disposable. We have situationships that carry the emotional and physical intimacy of relationships without the clarity, security, or responsibility of commitment. Polyamory and nontraditional relationship structures have become more visible, while many people are questioning whether monogamy is realistic—or whether committing to one person means sacrificing freedom. And beneath so much of this, I believe, is fear: fear of choosing the wrong person, fear of losing autonomy, fear of being truly known, and fear of placing our hearts in someone else’s hands. But casual ambiguity is not always casual to the body. Sexual and emotional intimacy can activate powerful bonding and reward systems involving hormones and neurotransmitters such as oxytocin, dopamine, and vasopressin. Our nervous systems begin registering another person as a source of pleasure, comfort, safety, and attachment—even when the relationship itself has never been clearly defined. So while the mind may say, “Let’s keep this casual,” the body may be forming a bond. While one person believes they are simply enjoying the present moment, another may be experiencing growing attachment, hope, and emotional investment. And when intimacy is paired with inconsistency—closeness followed by distance, affection followed by silence—the uncertainty itself can become consuming. The nervous system does not thrive in prolonged ambiguity. It continually asks: Am I safe here? Can I trust this person? Are they staying, or are they leaving? This is why situationships can be so painful. They often ask us to offer the vulnerability of devotion while pretending we do not need the security of commitment. They can give us access to someone’s body without requiring us to take responsibility for their heart. Of course, not every person bonds in exactly the same way, and no hormone dictates our destiny. But we are embodied beings. Our biology, psychology, attachment patterns, and spiritual longings are not separate from the choices we make in love. I believe many of us are longing for something deeper than access, attention, or temporary chemistry. We are longing for devotional love: a love that says, “I choose you. I will tell you the truth. I will protect what we are building. I will remain present when intimacy asks something more of me.” Devotional love is not possession, and commitment is not imprisonment. At its healthiest, devotion is the sacred practice of continuing to choose one another—with freedom, integrity, tenderness, and responsibility. It creates the emotional safety in which both people can soften, grow, heal, and become more fully themselves. So how did we arrive at a culture that desires intimacy while fearing commitment? What do men and women truly need from one another? Are our biological and emotional differences creating conflict—or could understanding those differences help us love each other more deeply? And in a world of endless options, situationships, and shifting relationship structures, is lasting monogamous love still possible? My guest today is an iconic voice in the field of relationships: John Gray , the internationally recognized author of the landmark book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus . For decades, John’s work has helped millions of people better understand the differences between men and women, communicate more compassionately, and create more fulfilling romantic partnerships. Whether you agree with every traditional idea about masculine and feminine dynamics or are encountering John’s work for the first time, his contribution to our cultural understanding of relationships is undeniable. Today, we explore how his teachings apply to modern dating, what biology and hormones can reveal about attraction and attachment, why so many people are afraid to commit, and what it takes to create a love that is not merely convenient—but conscious, secure, and deeply devoted. What do women truly need to feel safe, fulfilled, and deeply loved in a relationship? In this episode, Sasha and Erin explore emotional safety in relationships—and why it is the foundation upon which intimacy, trust, vulnerability, and lasting desire are built. Emotional safety is not about never experiencing conflict or discomfort. It is the feeling that we can bring our full selves into a relationship: our needs, tenderness, truth, sensuality, fears, and dreams—without being dismissed, punished, abandoned, or made to feel like we are too much. Drawing upon the relationship wisdom of Esther Perel, we explore one of love’s most beautiful paradoxes: women often long for both security and aliveness, both reliability and romance, both a safe place to land and the freedom to remain fully themselves. Deep partnership asks us to cultivate closeness without losing individuality, and commitment without allowing curiosity and desire to disappear. We’ll talk about what helps a woman’s nervous system soften: consistency, emotional presence, clear communication, affectionate reassurance, integrity, and the experience of being genuinely considered. Because when a woman feels emotionally safe, she does not have to exhaust herself decoding mixed signals or questioning where she stands. She can relax into her feminine energy, open her heart, express her desires, and allow intimacy to deepen naturally. This conversation is an invitation to move beyond simply being chosen and begin asking a more meaningful question: Does this relationship create the conditions in which I can truly flourish? Whether you are dating, building a committed partnership, healing from heartbreak, or learning how to create a more conscious and loving relationship, this episode will help you understand what women really want—and what all human beings ultimately deserve: a love that feels both alive and safe. There is something profoundly grounding about the way we begin and end our days. Morning and evening routines can become anchors; helping us regulate our nervous systems, reconnect with ourselves, and create a sense of steadiness even when life feels uncertain. In today’s episode, Sasha and Erin explore the power of embracing early mornings and creating daily rituals that support the body, mind, and spirit. We also speak honestly about what happens when sudden loss or unexpected change disrupts our sense of safety—and how those experiences can invite us into a deeper relationship with faith. This conversation is a reminder that we don’t always have to force, chase, or control what comes next. Sometimes, when we ground ourselves in supportive rhythms and trust the bigger plan, the right people, opportunities, and experiences are able to find us naturally and unfold with greater ease. If life has felt unusually intense, uncertain, emotional, or even a little chaotic lately, you are not alone. We are in eclipse season, a liminal space in which what has been hidden can rise to the surface. Familiar structures may begin to shift, and life can seem to move faster than our minds can fully process. On August twenty-seventh, we experienced a powerful partial lunar eclipse. In Vedic astrology, lunar eclipses are associated with culmination, revelation, emotional release, and the illumination of unconscious patterns. But no two eclipses carry exactly the same energy. The nakshatra, or lunar mansion, in which an eclipse occurs helps determine its particular nature. Each of the twenty-seven nakshatras carries its own planetary ruler, presiding deity, symbolism, and spiritual purpose. An eclipse moving through a nakshatra associated with nourishment, for example, may illuminate themes around belonging and emotional security, while an eclipse occurring in a nakshatra connected to transformation may initiate endings, awakenings, or profound inner change. This eclipse takes place in Shatabhisha, a nakshatra associated with healing, mystery, truth, and the uncovering of what has been concealed. Its name is often translated as one hundred healers or one hundred medicines. Yet Shatabhisha can also bring periods of solitude, disruption, or emotional distance, asking us to turn inward and encounter the parts of ourselves that are ready to be understood and healed. And while an eclipse carries a collective theme, it does not affect everyone in precisely the same way. Its personal significance depends upon where the eclipse falls within your individual birth chart, which planets it touches, and how its nakshatra connects with your own. This is why one person may experience a relationship shift, another may feel called toward a new purpose, and someone else may feel simply exhausted, sensitive, or deeply reflective. Today, we are joined by a dear friend, Nara Singh, to help us understand the deeper significance of eclipse season through the wisdom of Vedic astrology. We explore why eclipses can feel so destabilizing, how the nakshatras shape their expression, and how we can move through these cosmic thresholds with greater awareness rather than fear. If your life feels messy right now, if relationships are changing, emotions are surfacing, or the path ahead suddenly feels unclear, this conversation is here to remind you that you are not alone. Perhaps the chaos is not evidence that everything is falling apart. Perhaps something hidden is simply becoming visible so that a more honest and aligned chapter can begin. Ayurveda and TCM are two of the world's oldest and continuously practiced systems of medicine. They developed in different cultures, use different language, and have their own unique diagnostic framework. Yet, when you begin looking beneath the surface, there are some fascinating parallels: Prana and Chi, the Five Elements, constitutional medicine, food as medicine, the relationship between our internal environment, and the seasons and natural world around us. Today, I am joined by Key Reteff , founder of Holistic University , a wellness and retreat company creating immersive experiences designed to reconnect people with their health, themselves, and the natural world. Key's work brings together different healing traditions and modalities, which makes him the perfect person for a conversation we've been wanting to have for a long time: how does Ayurveda compare to traditional Chinese medicine? In this episode, Key and Sasha explore where these two systems overlap, where they fundamentally differ, and what each tradition can teach us about what it actually means to practice holistic medicine. Erin and Sasha explore how habits are formed, where they come from, and why we can find ourselves repeating the same patterns—even when we genuinely want to stop. We look at the roots of addiction, the various traumas we endure, and how they can keep our inner child frozen and stuck in a loop. We also discuss what happens when we shift from asking, “What am I lacking that keeps me stuck?” to “What resources do I already have, and how can I optimize them?” This is a conversation about self-awareness, healing, resilience, and the courage to step out of victim mentality. We invite you to call your power back from the people, experiences, and stories you’ve given it to—and learn how to protect that power. This episode is about recognizing that we may have far more capacity, wisdom, and strength within us than we think. Whether you’re navigating change, letting go of an old version of yourself, or simply trying to take one small step forward, reconnect with what’s already within you—and discover what’s possible when you do. The deepest states of healing and flow are not something we have to force. They are something we gain access to, when we finally stop interfering. Today’s guest is Dr. Arpit Bansal , an advanced laparoscopic and cancer surgeon, gut-health and longevity specialist, international speaker, and the visionary known as the “Aquaman Biohacker.” Drawing from more than 15 years in medicine, along with his exploration of breathwork, consciousness, biohacking, and underwater meditation, Dr. Arpit bridges the worlds of modern science and the innate intelligence of the human body. In today’s conversation, we explore how to access what Dr. Arpit calls the quantum flow state through the practice of coherent non-intervention—a state in which we release force, control, and resistance so that the nervous system, breath, body, and awareness can return to coherence. We also dive deeply into the healing power of water as a living environment that can support nervous-system regulation, emotional release, expanded awareness, and a profound return to stillness. Dr. Arpit shares why water has become both his teacher and his laboratory, how immersion can change our relationship with our bodies and minds, and that our greatest medicine already exists within us. This episode is another reminder that healing does not always come from doing more. Sometimes, it begins when we allow ourselves to become still. "Never in my life have I felt so grounded, so strong, so centered. Austin, Texas, is my home. This city—this community—is my family. My work, everything I have worked so hard to build and everything I have worked so hard to become, finally has a safe place to nest and expand. I didn’t realize until very recently that I had never felt truly at Home—until now. Now that I know what it feels like to come Home—to safety, rejuvenation, beauty, and peace—I realize what I have finally created. Not only a home for myself, but an oasis for my beloved community. A sacred thread running through my identity has always been Work Ethic and Follow-Through. Another word that comes to mind as I reflect is Integrity. When I say I will do something, that means it’s done. No matter what it takes, I reach the finish line. And bringing Ayurveda to the masses has been the greatest and most rewarding use of that gift. I do it for God. I do it for Love. I do it to set a precedent for the next girl or boy dreaming of a career in Ayurveda—or pursuing another noble and worthy cause, whatever that hero’s journey looks like for them. I want to give them the ability to see it and believe that it is possible. It took me a long time to embrace my role as a Leader. To accept my own innate worthiness. It took exactly as long as it took. But here we are. For context, I grew up feeling deprived of Love. I was starving for it throughout my 20s and well into my early 30s, which drew me into all kinds of unhealthy relationship dynamics—with myself and romantic partners. But my parents were kind enough to acknowledge my work ethic. I could sense that it made them respect me. So I ran with that—quite literally. From my first New York City Marathon at 18 to the eight-year marathon of becoming an Ayurvedic Doctor. This season begins at a new threshold. We are no longer asking whether Ojas Oasis can work. The clinic, the podcast, the online store, the merchandise, the partnerships, and this growing community have answered that question. Now we are asking: How far can it expand? After a 90 minute hot Vinyasa class this morning, I got my answer to that question. It can expand as much as I can hold and allow it to expand. Which means, everything that has happened prior to this season, built incredible tolerance and strength into my vessel. Which means, great power can flow through it. Life humbled me enough and purified me enough, to realize that great power is a great responsibility, gifted to those who can use it to help others. The leaders I have seen fall from the greatest of heights, fell the moment they tried to hold on to power, vs let it flow and let it go as it chooses. I have experienced life without love, without money, without friends, without certainty. Therefore, the fear of losing or the fear of dying, has been conquered. Because I have already lost 1000 times, and died 1000 times. In order to serve you all as deeply as I intend to, it requires constant up-leveling on my part. I am always looking at where I can grow, improve, and transmute my ego. This is what I call Dharmic Equity: the trust, capacity, and enduring value built when ambition is governed by service. It is not power we hoard; it is value we steward. 9 seasons and a billion miles later, we are and continue to be proof of concept. Thank y’all for staying by our side as we pave the path into the next season. For our true fans and listeners, our first edition merch is now available: an Ojas Oasis t-shirt in 3 gorgeous colors: navy blue, ghee yellow, and blush pink. 100% cotton, available both in the clinic and online at www.ojasoasis.com/shop A simple reminder to keep your cup full, protect your Ojas, and your inner peace." - Sasha Send us Fan Mail This episode is brought to you by Ojas Oasis Ayurveda, Sasha's private clinical practice. This episode originally aired in 2025 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today. Today, Erin and Sasha dive into the beauty of the Sahasrapadma Chakra. “Sahasrara” means thousand and “Padma” means lotus. Together, it is referred to as the “thousand-petaled lotus.” Much like the human experience, a lotus begins its life in the depths of muddy, murky waters—our struggles, attachments, desires, and ignorance (Avidya). Just as the lotus remains rooted in the mud, we too are born into the material world, facing suffering, karmic cycles, and obstacles. As the lotus stem rises through the water, it symbolizes the seeker’s journey through self-awareness, discipline, and inner purification. The phrase represents the infinite layers of consciousness. And through our efforts in Yoga, Meditation, and Self-Inquiry, overcoming obstacles, refining the mind, and aligning with higher consciousness, we unfold one petal at a time, moving closer to Divine realization. Sahasrapadma Chakra is located at the crown of the head, and is the gateway to pure consciousness. When it is balanced, we experience deep inner peace, clarity, and a profound connection to universal wisdom. Life flows effortlessly, and we feel aligned with our highest purpose. When imbalanced or blocked, it can manifest as mental fog, chronic stress, anxiety, or depression. On a physical level, disharmony in this chakra is often linked to neurological disorders, migraines, hormonal imbalances, sleep disturbances, and even autoimmune conditions. Some may struggle with disconnection from their spiritual path, while others might experience an overwhelming sense of isolation or existential confusion. Through meditation, pranayama, acts of surrender, nourishing ourselves with sattvic foods like coconut, almonds, and ghee, occasional fasting with fresh juices or herbal teas, and using Ayurvedic herbs such as Brahmi, Shankhpushpi, Gotu Kola, and Tulsi, we unlock the potential of this energy center. Yoga asanas like Sirsasana (headstand), Savasana (corpse pose), Vrikshasana (tree pose) and Padmasana (lotus pose) further help stimulate this center of Divine connection. When the lotus reaches the surface, it blossoms in the sunlight, untouched by the water below. This represents the final stage of spiritual awakening, the self-realization (moksha), where one transcends suffering, duality, and illusion (maya). The enlightened being, like a lotus, remainds in the world but is no longer affected by its turbulence. Despite its impure surroundings, the lotus remains pristine and beautiful, symbolizing that true beauty and purity arise from within, regardless of external circumstances. This episode originally aired in 2025 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today. Sasha and Erin continue the Chakra series with Agnya, meaning “Divine Permission.” This is the sixth chakra, which is considered the master chakra. It is located at the third eye, the space between the eyebrows, where the pineal and pituitary glands are, which is also where the Ida and Pingala nadis originate. The pineal and pituitary glands play crucial roles in regulating hormones, consciousness, and perception. The Pineal Gland is considered “the seat of the Soul.” It regulates circadian rhythms by producing melatonin which helps regulate sleep cycles, dreams, and altered states of consciousness. Associated with inner vision, intuition, and spiritual awakening, the pineal gland responds to light and darkness, mirroring the duality of perception (Maya vs. Truth). Considered the “Eye of Shiva” in yogic traditions, Agnya Chakra is linked to higher wisdom and deep meditation. Practices like Kriya Yoga, Trataka (candle gazing), and deep meditation activate the pineal gland, enhancing spiritual perception. The Pituitary Gland is considered “The Master Gland.” It regulates hormonal balance by controlling the thyroid, adrenal glands, reproductive organs, and metabolism. It produces growth hormone, oxytocin (the love hormone), and stress hormones. It governs physical and emotional equilibrium. It also works as the bridge between the body and higher consciousness. So when you think Pineal Gland, think Inner Vision, Allowing higher perception, deep meditation, and spiritual connection. When you think Pituitary Gland, think Master Regulator, ensuring hormonal and mental balance, helping integrate spiritual experiences into daily life. Activating the Agnya Chakra (through Ayurvedic herbs, diet and lifestyle, breathwork, meditation, and chanting mantra such as “Om Namah Shivaya”) influences pituitary function, leading to enhanced mental clarity, intuition, and self-mastery. The Rudra Granthi (or knot of Shiva) gets untied here, allowing access to the inner guru (intuition, a deeper knowing, natural intelligence, a state of clarity). Rudra Granthi is the final energetic blockage that must be untied for spiritual awakening. This knot represents ego, attachment to identity, and intellectual limitations. When untied or dissolved, Shiva-consciousness, or pure awareness, arises. There is no thought here, because we transcend thought. And we can have phenomenal impact on the field, as it gives rise to genius mind and more kundalini shakti moving up. Agnya brings Prana to the nervous system. So when we are balanced here, we go beyond habit and the causal plane. We have access to deep self-healing and a quantum mind. We receive the energy and knowledge of the timeless dimension, a state of dynamic stillness. Send us Fan Mail This episode is brought to you by Ojas Oasis Ayurveda, Sasha's private clinical practice. This episode originally aired in 2025 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today. "Before you speak, ask yourself: “Is it honest? Is it kind? Is it necessary? Is it the right time? Does it improve the silence?” - Sathya Sai Baba Today, Erin and Sasha explore the 5th Chakra of speech, poetically named Vishuddha, meaning “purification of poison.” Vishuddha Chakra represents the Ether element, and the ability to turn poison into nectar - the process of purification. It is located in the throat, and is the seat of the power of the word. It brings Prana to the respiratory system. “The more silence behind your word, the greater the impact.” You may find, upon personal practice, that the simple elegance of Silence can be prescribed to most internal challenges. This chakra represents the quality of honest communication, turning ignorance into awareness, transmutation, choice, alchemy, infinity, receptivity, sensitivity, self-expression, “finding one’s voice,” the ability to speak from the heart, and the ability to listen from the heart. Used properly, Vishuddha makes our words nectar, not poison. All poison becomes nectar when Vishuddha is strong and stable, developed and activated. Our words create reality, and since they originate from thought, our thoughts create our reality. Therefore, words are not only descriptive, but creative. When Vishuddha is activated, everywhere you go, becomes better as a result of you being there. If too much noise is there, too much talking or too much thinking, Vishuddha cannot be stabilized, because the element it represents is Ether (spaciousness, emptiness). The bija mantra for Vishuddha is “Hum,” which means “I am.” Because on a micro-level, we are God: the creator, preserver, and destroyer. Which brings me to the story of Samudra Manthan, the churning of the ocean. Once upon a time, the devas (gods) and asuras (demons) were on a quest to retrieve Amrita, the sacred nectar of immortality. In doing so, they had to churn the ocean using Mount Mandara as the churning rod, and Vasuki (the serpent King) as their rope. As they churned in what appears to be the original tug of war, Divine gifts emerged, like Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and the celestial cow Kamadhenu. However, before the Amrita appeared, a deadly poison called Halahala surfaced, threatening to destroy all of existence. Terrified, the devas and asuras turned to Lord Shiva for help, and in an act of supreme selflessness, he took the poison to his mouth to prevent it from harming creation. But instead of swallowing it or spitting it out, he held it in his throat, where it turned his skin blue, earning him the name of Neelkantha (the Blue throated one). This moment of holding and transforming toxicity without allowing it to spread, is the symbolic origin of the Vishuddha Chakra. Just as Lord Shiva purified the deadly poison without letting it harm him, Vishuddha governs the purification of thought, word, and energy. Shiva’s restraint symbolizes conscious speech, wisdom, and the power of truth. The throat chakra teaches that life contains both poison (negativity, challenges) and nectar (divine wisdom). It is our ability to process, hold, and transmute energy that determines our spiritual growth. This chakra represents self-mastery, communication, and purification. Like Shiva, we must learn to hold challenges with grace, not letting toxicity consume us but instead transforming it into wisdom. When our Vishuddha Chakra is balanced, we speak with clarity, authenticity, and purpose, just as Shiva’s act saved creation. This episode originally aired in 2025 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today. Today, Erin and Sasha continue our Chakra series with Anahata, meaning “eternal unstruck sound.” Anahata is the fourth chakra, located at the heart, which is the seat of love and compassion. It is also the location of Vishnu Granthi (the knot of Vishnu). Its element is air, color is green, planet is Venus, and Ishta Devata is Lakshmi. Having neurons and brain cells, the heart holds the highest level of electromagnetic energy, inspiration, devotion, timelessness, and joy without reason. When Anahata is in a knot, there is attachment, neediness, longing, co-dependency, and a “me and mine” mentality. Vishnu Granthi converts once Anahata is developed and stable, and then there is an energy of immense clairvoyance, deep compassion, transcendence of fear, greater kundalini rising, experience of pleasure, and authentic connection. Lakshmi lives here, the goddess of Abundance and Prosperity. Abundance is a state, and in this state, all lack disappears. Anahata’s base value of Peace (Shanti) converts to Bliss (Ananda) and then into Compassion, which is really just pain held in love. The feeling of Grace, or knowing you are held in Love, only arises when Anahata is open and online. It is not only about having an abundance mindset of gratitude, but an abundant heart, and with the help of a strong spine; an open, ever softening heart. So even when we experience personal pain, grief, sorrow, and despair, it makes us better people. When we go into deeper states within our heart, pain is not our enemy. It becomes maturity and compassion. Sensitivity is not weakness, it is our superpower. We must train it, not suppress it. Let the tears come, let them flow, and be grateful for them. This allows the heart to stay safe as it expands. And remember, where there is gratitude, there is Lakshmi, abundance and prosperity. Today Erin and Sasha continue the exploration of the chakras with Manipura - the third of the seven chakras - which translates as “the shining sacred jewel.” It is associated with the Fire element, the planet Mars, the color Yellow, and the “Ishta Devata” Hanuman. It is located just above the navel and below the sternum, at our solar plexus — also called the celiac plexus — which is a complex system of radiating nerves and ganglia. It is found in the pit of the stomach in front of the aorta. It is part of the sympathetic nervous system and plays an important role in the functioning of the stomach, kidneys, liver, and adrenal glands. This chakra brings Prana to the digestive system, also known as our second brain. From a Western perspective, this is known and expressed as the gut-brain axis (or GBA) - the network of nerves and biochemical signals that connect the brain and the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It's a two-way communication system that helps maintain homeostasis. The vagus nerve is one of the main nerves that connects the brain and gut, sending signals in both directions. From a clinical perspective, the GBA can impact disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and memory loss. The GBA can also be linked to conditions like autism, obesity, schizophrenia, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease. The Manipura chakra is directly linked to our sense of self, self-esteem, sense of purpose, the seat of clear decisive action, vision, dynamic action, assertiveness, discipline, determination, passion, deepest willingness to go beyond, strong will power, courage, resilience, and vitality. When balanced, there is energy and insight, will power and and follow-through, self-reliance, vitality and health. It can only be as balanced as the first 2 chakras. When imbalanced, there is a state of self-doubt, fear, insecurity, wanting, anger, blame, victimhood, depression, and lethargy. Positive affirmations, yoga postures that engage the core such as bow pose, cobra pose, or revolved triangle pose, and kapalabhati pranayama (or breath of fire) help strengthen Manipura when it is weak. We also get into ways of balancing an overactive Manipura, as Pitta-type individuals are prone to over exercising, overworking, and burnout. We hope today’s conversation illuminates the ways in which we can reclaim and maintain our personal power, and that it is not as much a process of creating it, as it is discovering that which has always been there and removing what blocks us from experiencing it. This episode originally aired in 2025 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today. Today, Sasha and Erin got to chat in-person to deep dive into the second chakra, Svadhistana, located at the sacrum above the Muladhara, which abides in the tail bone or coccyx. The sacrum is a large, triangular bone at the base of the spine that connects to the pelvis and is made up of five fused vertebrae, numbered S-1 to S-5. Now that we know where it lives, lets talk about what it means. Svadhistana translates as “the seat of taste/desire.” “Swa means taste, and “Stana” means abode or seat. It represents the Water element, relates to the physical reproductive organs and brings Prana to the reproductive system. This is where our desire comes from - for enjoyment, pleasure, sexuality, creativity and flow. Desire is a fascinating thing. And an important thing at that, as far our basic evolution and survival go. But craving and aversion, become a relentless assault on the present moment if we fail to understand and master the nature of it. Aversion is essentially Anxiety, Resentment, Regret, All Addiction, Self-Hatred, all sense of Lack, the gap between who you are and who you want to be, what you have and what you want to have. Desire is not the actual problem. Because we aren’t actually looking for a “thing.” We are looking for “the experience of the thing, the feeling of the thing.” That is the first level of balancing this chakra, or subtle energy center: Distinguishing what it is we ultimately truly Desire. In Ayurveda, it is important to not suppress Desire. In Yoga, it is important to refine the experiencer, or the one experiencing Desire, so that the Desire becomes refined. As our Ayurvedic habits and Yoga practice deepens, toxic habits fall away, including toxic desires. And this is because as our human system becomes balanced, the tendencies of imbalance heal into harmonious tendencies. This is a whole nother level of healing. When our Svadhistana is balanced, there is an energy of abundance, and understanding of timing. When imbalanced, there is guilt, self-hatred, a state of wanting or lack, self-harming, drama, holding of childhood issues, traumas, and sexual scarring, and a tamasic level of desire to relate but an inability to relate to anyone. Since our present relationships are all informed by our past, we must free ourselves from incorrect, unrefined information in our system. We must clean this chakra by learning how to activate it. Otherwise, Fear will show up to sabotage what it is we truly want. Send us Fan Mail This episode is brought to you by Ojas Oasis Ayurveda, Sasha's private clinical practice. This episode originally aired in 2025 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today. Today, we spend more time on the fourth kosha, Vigyanamaya Kosha. The word “Vigyana” means “knowing.” This layer is true intellect, intuition, wisdom, and higher awareness. Within this layer, one experiences union of Spirit, realizing they are a spiritual being having a human experience. We also delve into the fifth layer, the Anandamaya Kosha. “Ananda” means “bliss,” so this is our Bliss Body. Love, peace, joy, connection, and bliss are all a constant experience here, without any reason, and it’s beyond just an emotion. Bliss is the experience we gain from connecting to the Atman (true self) without masks, opinions, ideas, or identities. We begin exploring another part of the subtle anatomy, known as Chakras. Chakras are energy vortexes in the subtle/energetic body, located along the sushumna nadi, starting from the base of the spine, or tail bone, all the way up through the crown of the head. The first is Muladhara, which we felt required its own episode, as the strength of the rest of the chakras rest upon this foundation. Muladhara translates as the root, whose energy flows to the rest of the chakras and sets the tone for our sense of self. Herein lies infinite potential but also fear, since all Fear is essentially about the Unknown, and the Unknown is also the Infinite Potential. A lot of our limitations are self-imposed, acquired through conditioning, so the muladhara represents the possibility of liberation when we realize we have the choice to change and evolve. Daily practices and routines, often the simple ones we mention in today's conversation, help strengthen our inner stability. Disciplines, like yoga asana, anchor us so that experiences don’t lead us off path and away from our true self. A huge part of our inner work is with this chakra. Cultivating a base experience of Trust over Fear. This chakra represents the Earth element, and we hope you feel its grounding energy through this teaching. This episode originally aired in 2023 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today. Vata, nature's bio force of motion and circulation, plays a significant role in our mind/body system - specifically our digestive and emotional wellbeing. The subdoshas of Vata: Prana Vayu, Udana Vayu, Samana Vayu, Apana Vayu, and Vyana Vayu each have specific, significant roles in regulating our inner harmony. Chronic psychosomatic illnesses occur when Vata gets aggravated and left unchecked. We hope this conversation plants a deeper understanding of this dynamic dosha and offers practical tools for keeping your Vata balanced from the inside out. As we grow - whether in our career, our leadership, our inner evolution - the stakes inevitably rise. Pressure increases, expectations heighten, and mistakes become more visible. In this episode, Sasha and Erin explore how to meet higher stakes with steadiness, through an Ayurvedic lens that honors the cultivation, and protection, of ojas under stress. They also dive into something essential that is often overlooked in high performance culture: the importance of pausing and creating buffers. Strategic pauses, integration periods, and intentional space are not signs of slowing down - they are what make sustainable growth possible. It is said that the latest way to get somewhere, is to go slowly. This gives us perspective, an opportunity for recalibration and increase our capacity to hold more, without burnout or fragmentation. The truth about expansion, is that it’s not linear. It requires rhythm: effort and rest, motion and stillness, engagement and withdrawal, intensity and integration. When we learn to build in these buffers, we don’t just handle pressure better: we grow to meet ourselves with more clarity, wisdom, and stability. This episode is a sentimental finale to our first chapter in Austin. Finally rooted, finally flying. Thank you for being here for every step of our evolution. We’ll see you in Season 9.
