This is a huge moment for Huntwurx and the First Generation Bowhunter community. In Episode 110, Adam shares the story behind Huntwurx acquiring a massive amount of BlackOvis inventory and why this is unlike a normal hunting-gear launch. We break down what’s available, which products stand out, how the liquidation pricing works and why hunters shouldn’t wait too long on their preferred sizes. The drop includes BlackOvis merino layers, hunting pants, outerwear, accessories and other backcountry gear. Quantities are limited, and many of these products may be gone for good once the current inventory sells through. Shop the BlackOvis gear dump at Huntwurx.com. This is the beginning of something big.

In this episode Kendall dives into various events surrounding the day of the bankruptcy filing and the unanticipated fallout that he was left to deal with in order to get out from under the lease of the 50,000 square foot warehouse lease. The two months that ensued would stretch him thin, and turn his reliance on the help of former employees, family members, and ultimately on his faith in Jesus Christ to overcome the stress and load he was carrying. Other topics covered are how he worked with the trustee of the court, leasing the building, helping brands to recover inventory who had recently shipped product to the company, and winding down of the operations. In this episode Kendall talks about the involuntary change in his role and his decision to move on from the day to day of the business as he contemplated time spent and ultimately those he wanted to spend his time with. But with events like the Trump Tariffs, bank relationship juggle, and business model changes, he felt these required him to stay involved far longer than he wished to be. This tug of war culminates in family and friends often asking “what’s wrong” and questioning his mental health. Ultimately, Kendall chose to step away from full time involvement in August of 2025 to a minimal role of advising on content and product development. Wrapped up in the final months of the business is his investment/loan to the business in June of 2025 in order to keep the lights on, the banking relationship and situation with the investors, and the final details of his experience leading up to the board members deciding to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy. He focuses on how the growth of Camofire led to the development of Core4Element, a clothing company they would ultimately sell in order to launch BlackOvis. Along the way Kendall identifies the foundations of the business, the heart and soul elements of his journey through building the company and his personal role in the formation of what would become Camofire & BlackOvis within the hunting industry. In this episode, Adam Buchanan discusses the importance of finding personal validation in bow hunting rather than seeking approval from others, especially through social media. He emphasizes that the joy of hunting should come from the experience itself, not from the size of the game or the opinions of others. Adam encourages listeners to embrace their journey as first-generation bow hunters, to stop outsourcing their legitimacy, and to focus on their own growth and enjoyment in the sport. Bow hunting should be fun; if it's not, something's wrong. Don't let social media dictate your hunting success. It's your tag; hunt for your own experience. Outsourcing validation can lead to dissatisfaction. You can't eat antlers; focus on the meat. Personal validation is more important than likes. The playbook for life is often unfinished. Stop comparing your journey to others. Hunting is about personal growth and experience. Enjoy the process, not just the outcome. "Just go shoot a deer." "You can't eat antlers." "This should be fun." In this episode of First Generation Bowhunter, host Adam Buchanan sits down with Brad Brooks, founder of Argali Outdoors, to talk about the unexpected overlap between rock climbing, bow hunting, and building gear that actually works in the backcountry. Adam and Brad dig into how their shared obsession with climbing shaped their approach to bowhunting, why bow hunting has one of the steepest learning curves in the outdoors, and how persistence—not shortcuts—is the real key to success. They also compare the true cost of climbing vs. hunting, why hunters tend to obsess over gear, and how to avoid wasting money when you’re getting started. The conversation goes deep into wild game as a primary food source, from preparation and cooking to why harvesting your own meat changes your relationship with food entirely. Brad also shares insight into how Argali gear is designed, why simplicity matters, and how innovation in hunting apparel and equipment is evolving to better serve serious hunters—not trends. They wrap with a real conversation about balancing family life, work, and hunting, why communication matters, and how learning from failure is unavoidable in both climbing and bowhunting. If you’re a bowhunter, endurance athlete, climber, or someone trying to do hunting the right way—this episode hits.
