Tess & Brett resume regular FTK programming in Joel's absence. Instead of the "Big Q" this week, Joel sits down with Willy Songok - Head of Guest Relations at "The Kenyan Experience" (which is run from the High Altitude Training Centre in Iten, Kenya). During his time in Iten, Joel had many interesting interactions with Willy and this lead to Joel asking if he'd be willing to join FTK for an informal chat. You'll hear all about "The Kenyan Experience" as well as Willy's personal story, which when paired with his incredibly dry sense of humour and deep knowledge of running, makes him the perfect leader for the program. Big episode tonight with Brett and Tess hosting the episode. Joel took a well deserved break from hosting duties to enjoy his trip in Kenya. They take you through their training week recaps before diving into their very different Sydney Marathon experiences - Brett pacing the lead Aussie men, and Tess spectating from the course with her brother. The episode wraps up with the usual favourites - Give Some Kudos and TWSOITWTWATSA. Thanks for all the support as always, listeners. Hope you enjoy this one! This episode is brought to you by Better Beer : Brett, Joel & Tess record over zoom this week with Joel calling in from "The Home Of Champions" - Iten, Kenya. The episode begins with the team recapping recent race highlights as well as the usual sharing of what they've been up to since they last recorded. As for "Training Weeks", Brett & Tess hold up the segment themselves while Joel substitutes running for travel-related-tales. Due to time zone differences and commitments Joel bails from the episode, leaving Brett & Tess to close out the episode without him. The team walk through a couple of Logy’s best training weeks and sessions to date, looking at what made them work so well beyond simply training hard, as he looks ahead to the National Cross Country Championships in Ballarat. Matilda shares her taper week leading into the Wonderfalls 25km win, where less running made room for more mindfulness, before recapping race day. Purchase or Discovery of the Week closes out the show, with a surprise guest appearance for those who make it to the end

SIGN UP TO OUR PATREON TODAY: www.patreon.com/forthekudos The three athletes recount their last big week of training before starting to taper down the effort and volume. Hear what a taper means to them, what their thoughts on the course are and whether they’ve studied it and also what they will be focusing on in race week. If you see Caitlin, Tim or Fraser out on course be sure to cheer their names or give them the Joel treatment of just yelling ‘FTK’. Either works.
After her one week hiatus, Tess is back on the airwaves, joining Brett & Joel in the Hawthorn studio. In training week's Brett returns to intensity while Tess continues to build consistency with her new program. Then for the first time in as long as everyone can remember - Joel recaps a race win. He takes the listeners through the successful parts of the Wonderfalls 50, opens up about what went wrong, and everything else that happened during his 4h40min performance . This week's "Big Q" is all about "super sessions" towards the end of a marathon block and as always, the episode closes out with our usual "Give Some Kudos" and "TWHSOITWTWATSA" segments. SIGN UP TO OUR PATREON TODAY: www.patreon.com/forthekudos As you’d expect, there’s a lot to pull apart in the penultimate pre-race episode from another 550+ kilometres of training and life. Things for your listening bingo card; track 5000m races, police interactions, aborting sessions, bread and lots more.
With a change in recording schedule this week Tess was unable to join Brett & Joel for the episode. Brett & Joel realise quickly that without Tess, anarchy unfolds in the Hawthorn studio. That said, Brett & Joel try their best to take the listeners through each of FTK's segments without diverting the topic of conversation too much. The crew will be back next week to recap Joel's trail run! SIGN UP TO OUR PATREON TODAY: www.patreon.com/forthekudos At the somewhat of a halfway point in this series Caitlin and Tim ‘run’ through their training weeks before being asked to reflect on how well they’re travelling in the big picture of this marathon block. In terms of their training highlights, Caitlin rebounds well after a wet Tuesday to crush her long run workout, Tim banks another 209km week albeit with some blisters and Fraser has his own very lovely Sunday run.
Brett, Joel & Tess begin episode 206 with a lengthy recap of the highlight Australian performances at the Commonwealth Games. Joel and Tess take the listeners through their training week's before Brett closes out the segment with an in depth race recap of his Sunshine Coast Marathon win over the weekend. The crew spread their kudos widely and there's a mix of serious and silly TWHSOITWTWATSA submissions to close out the episode. Rose Davies and Ky Robinson take out both of the 10000m and if Brett and Fraser are correct it's only the start of Australia's medal run. Sunshine Coast is this weekend but with no official entry lists, the preview was a bit of a struggle.
Brett, Joel & Tess record from seperate studios this week. The team debrief Harbour 10 and Lakeside 10 before reflecting on their old World Champs Special series from a few years back. The team soft launch Brett's next marathon (surely you could have guessed this by now...it's a few days away) while Tess banks a solid week, and Joel is forced to push his long run back a day. The team answer a question on marathon fatigue in "The Big Q" and there's plenty of entertaining chat in our closing segments. SIGN UP TO OUR PATREON TODAY: www.patreon.com/forthekudos Their holidays are over and for the first time in this series, Tim and Caitlin mix in their training with their work and if you throw in Fraser’s mileage it might just be the most amount of training ever recorded in an FTK episode. There is a bit of shoe chat plus general training chit chat (Seb Coe and Derek Clayton get a mention) and two prominent South Australian sporting heroes make an appearance at training on Friday for Caitlin and Fraser. 5 weeks to go.

SIGN UP TO OUR PATREON TODAY: www.patreon.com/forthekudos Caitlin, Tim and Fraser sit down to record their first episode eight (… or nine) weeks away from Sydney Marathon. The trio recap their races over the weekend with Caitlin’s new half PB a good start for her while Tim and the Socceroos had a different morning. Drop us your questions, comments and any suggestions for show names (and I’ll put it to the others!)
The team recap all the key results from the recent London Diamond League, spending a large majority of the chat on Josh Kerr's Mile World Record. Brett lays down a solid week of marathon training in the lead up to Sunny Coast while Tess (and her 400 training partners) bank a couple of solid workouts. "The Big Q" sees the team share their most overrated/underrated pieces of running advice and the episode closes out with the usual two segments. SIGN UP TO OUR PATREON TODAY: www.patreon.com/forthekudos Fresh off his win at the Victorian Cross Country Championships at Bundoora, Logy joins Matilda in the Richmond studio to record episode 5 of the series. We hear Logy's training week before his thorough recap of how his race went. Matilda takes the listeners through her week of running which leads to a lengthy discussion on periodisation and de-loading. As always there's plenty of non-running chat for you to enjoy :)
Brett, Joel & Tess are back in the Brunswick Studio (Tess' crib) to record episode #203. Hopefully the audio is little louder after some technical issues (we'll have the popping/clipping fixed for next week). In this episode there's plenty of running chat, a strange amount of weather talk and an unexpected lengthy chat about the TDF. You'll hear how long the team think they can run without stopping in this week's BIG Q segment, and Mike Wazowski gets a feature in TWHSOITWTWATSA. Enjoy one of the longest standalone episodes of FTK ever! The episode begins with the team recapping the usual highlight results from our Australian pro's, before announcing our latest Patreon-only series. Brett recaps his 4th place half mara result in GC, while Tess lays down a solid week of training as Brett continues to build her mileage. Joel continues to get fitter too, as he announces another race (torture) planned for later in the year. The episode closes out with our usual Big Q, Give Some Kudos and TWHSOITWTWATSA segments. The episode kicks off with a typical off-topic discussion, this time about plant health and smuggling pocket knives through airport security. The team then unpack the two new Australian records everyone's talking about, before going over last week's training. The Brunswick studio (Tess' place) must have another gas leak as the team forget all about "The Big Q". There was no chance they could forget about "Give Some Kudos" this week with all three of them giving it to Cam Myers and Sarah Billings. The episode closes out with two stupid and one more serious "TWHSOITWTWATSA" submissions.
