Why reassuring glucose and A1c results may conceal the metabolic work happening behind the scenes. Two people can have the same fasting glucose and A1c and have very different metabolic health. One may be maintaining those numbers efficiently. The other may be producing substantially more insulin just to keep blood sugar in range. The numbers look the same, but the physiology isn’t. In this episode of ReInvent Healthcare , Dr Ritamarie explores what insulin can reveal that glucose and A1c may miss, and why recognizing metabolic compensation earlier can change the way practitioners assess metabolic health. What’s Inside This Episode? Why normal glucose doesn’t always mean normal metabolism What insulin can reveal before glucose starts to rise How the body can compensate for insulin resistance Why the same glucose and A1c can reflect very different physiology The difference between hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance Why insulin resistance can affect different tissues in different ways How muscle influences insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation Why “normal” lab results can sometimes hide an evolving problem How to start looking beyond isolated metabolic markers Resources and Links Download the full transcript here Download the FREE Beyond Protocols: A Practitioner’s Guide to Root-Cause Pattern Recognition Join the Next-Level Health Practitioner Facebook group for free resources and community support Reserve your spot for ReInvent Healthcare 2026 to deepen your clinical reasoning and learn root-cause approaches you can apply in practice Visit INEMethod.com for advanced health practitioner training and tools Check out other ReInvent Healthcare podcast episodes here
A diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis tells you what’s happening with the bone, but not why. Calcium, vitamin D, exercise, and medication may all have a role, but … Why is this person losing bone? In this episode of ReInvent Healthcare , Dr. Ritamarie explores how lab testing can reveal what’s happening beneath the surface, from bone turnover and mineral regulation to hormones, metabolic health, digestion, inflammation, and medication effects. You’ll learn how to use testing to distinguish bone breakdown from inadequate bone formation and build a clearer picture of what’s driving bone loss. What’s Inside This Episode? Why a diagnosis of osteoporosis doesn’t explain why bone is being lost The questions that can reveal what’s really happening beneath the T-score Why the same diagnosis can look very different from person to person What practitioners may be overlooking when bone loss doesn’t make sense The connections between bone health and the rest of the body Why looking at the bigger clinical picture can change your approach How to move beyond disconnected lab results and start seeing the pattern A practical framework for investigating what’s driving bone loss If you work with people experiencing osteopenia, osteoporosis, fractures, menopause-related bone loss, or unexplained bone decline, this episode will help you move beyond the diagnosis and investigate the patterns driving the problem. Your client has a complicated history with multiple symptoms, diagnoses, and a long list of things they have already tried. How do you know what to address first? In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo is joined by Dr. Tom Moorcroft, DO, America’s Lyme Recovery Expert and a leading voice in chronic Lyme disease, mold illness, and complex chronic conditions. Together, they explore why complex cases require more than another protocol, supplement, or treatment plan. Dr. Tom shares how practitioners can identify what is blocking healing, determine what to address first, and create a strategy that evolves with each client’s response. You’ll discover why reducing the body’s total burden, improving healing capacity, and choosing the right next step can transform the way you approach complex chronic illness. What’s Inside This Episode? Why having more tools does not always lead to better outcomes in complex cases The clinical question that helps determine what to address first when everything seems important Why chasing symptoms can keep practitioners from uncovering the true drivers of illness How to identify the factors that may be preventing the body from healing Why sequencing interventions is often more important than adding more treatments The role of the sympathetic nervous system in chronic illness and healing capacity When supporting the body’s resilience should come before adding more interventions How to move beyond protocols and create personalized strategies for each client If you work with clients who have chronic Lyme, mold illness, autoimmune patterns, fatigue, PANS/PANDAS, or persistent symptoms that have not resolved with conventional approaches, this conversation will give you a new lens for creating a more strategic path forward. A T-score can tell you that bone density is low, but it cannot tell you the whole story. It cannot tell you why someone lost bone, whether the results are influenced by factors like arthritis or degeneration, whether bone quality is compromised, or whether the person has the muscle, nutrition, hormones, and metabolic support needed to reduce fracture risk. In this episode of ReInvent Healthcare , Dr. Ritamarie explores why practitioners need to look beyond the T-score when evaluating bone health. She discusses the strengths and limitations of conventional DEXA, full-body DEXA, EchoLight REMS, Fragility Score, and Trabecular Bone Score (TBS), and how each tool provides a different piece of information about bone density, bone quality, and fracture risk. The test gives us data, but the practitioner creates meaning. You’ll discover why interpreting bone testing requires more than looking at a single number and how to combine imaging with the bigger clinical picture, including muscle mass, falls, medications, hormones, inflammation, nutrition, digestion, and metabolic health. What’s Inside This Episode? Why the T-score is important but never the complete bone health story What conventional DEXA can tell you and what it may miss Why an improved scan result does not always mean healthier bone The difference between bone density, bone quality, and fracture risk Why muscle mass, strength, balance, and movement are critical parts of fracture risk assessment How full-body DEXA provides insight into body composition and the muscle-bone connection What newer tools like EchoLight REMS, Fragility Score, and TBS may add to the clinical picture Why trends over time matter more than reacting to a single scan result The common mistakes practitioners make when interpreting bone testing How to combine imaging, labs, nutrition, hormones, movement, and metabolic health to understand the whole person If you support people experiencing osteopenia, osteoporosis, fracture risk, menopause-related bone loss, sarcopenia, metabolic challenges, or confusing bone test results, this episode will help you think more clearly about what the numbers actually mean. Sleep issues are one of the most common complaints practitioners see and often one of the most frustrating to resolve. Your client may be exhausted but unable to sleep. They may fall asleep easily but wake up at 3 AM and cannot get back to sleep. They may be following recommendations, taking supplements, and doing “all the right things,” yet their body still seems unable to recover. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo is joined by Dr. Navaz Habib, DO, also known as “The Vagus Nerve Doc,” to explore why nervous system regulation may be the missing piece behind persistent sleep challenges and chronic health issues. They discuss how the vagus nerve influences the body’s ability to shift into a restorative state, why so many clients become stuck in sympathetic overdrive, and how practitioners can recognize the patterns that prevent healing. Dr. Habib shares why the goal is not another one-size-fits-all protocol, but learning how to identify what each individual person needs to restore balance, regulation, and resilience. What’s Inside This Episode? Why your client’s sleep problem may not actually be a sleep problem The hidden nervous system pattern that keeps many clients stuck in stress mode Why the ability to shift between sympathetic and parasympathetic states is essential for healing How a client’s stress history can reveal the turning points behind chronic symptoms Why the same symptom can have completely different causes in different people How blood sugar, metabolic flexibility, and stress physiology can influence nighttime waking The simple circadian rhythm strategy Dr. Habib uses to help clients improve sleep patterns Why sleep-disordered breathing is one of the most overlooked contributors to poor sleep How practitioners can use a framework instead of another rigid protocol to guide personalized care Why creating safety and regulation may need to come before adding more interventions If you work with clients who struggle with insomnia, fatigue, inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, anxiety, or chronic illness, this episode will help you see sleep and nervous system regulation through a deeper root-cause lens. Many people are taking calcium, vitamin D, and other bone-supportive supplements, yet their bone density continues to decline. What are we missing? Bone is not just a calcium storage site. It is living tissue that depends on a complex network of nutrients, signals, and systems working together. Protein, amino acids, muscle, gut health, hormones, blood sugar balance, and nutrient absorption all influence whether the body has what it needs to rebuild. In this episode of ReInvent Healthcare , Dr. Ritamarie explores why a root-cause approach to bone health requires us to look beyond calcium and understand what is truly driving bone loss. You’ll discover why adding more supplements may not be the answer and why the better question is: What does this person’s body need in order to rebuild stronger, healthier bones? What’s Inside This Episode? Why bone is a living collagen matrix, not simply a place where calcium is stored Why calcium matters, but calcium alone is not a complete bone health strategy How protein, amino acids, and muscle influence the signals that support bone remodeling Why poor digestion and nutrient absorption can undermine even the best bone-supportive plan How blood sugar balance and glycation affect collagen quality and bone resilience The key nutrients beyond calcium and vitamin D that support the bone matrix Why plant-based diets can support bone health, but only when they are properly designed and nutrient sufficient How practitioners can move beyond generic bone protocols and identify what each person needs to rebuild If you support people experiencing osteopenia, osteoporosis, fractures, menopause-related bone loss, sarcopenia, digestive challenges, insulin resistance, or metabolic dysfunction, this episode will help you see bone health through a deeper root-cause lens. A DEXA scan can tell you that bone density has changed, but it does not tell you why bone is being lost or what is happening inside the bone remodeling process. Bone is living, metabolically active tissue that is constantly breaking down and rebuilding. If we want to change the trajectory of bone loss, we need to understand the signals and patterns driving that process, not simply wait for the next scan. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo is joined by Dr. Kim Millman, MD, PhD, an integrative physician who has spent 18 years focused on uncovering the root causes of bone loss. They explore the bone health testing that is often missed, what those results can reveal, and how practitioners can use that information to create more personalized strategies for osteopenia and osteoporosis. You’ll discover why a complete bone health assessment requires looking beyond a T-score and understanding the hormonal, nutritional, metabolic, and lifestyle factors that influence bone resilience. What’s Inside This Episode? Why a DEXA scan may not tell you the full story behind bone loss The questions practitioners should ask before deciding how to support a client with osteoporosis or osteopenia What testing can reveal about the process of bone breakdown and rebuilding Why two people with the same bone density score may need completely different approaches The hidden factors that influence bone remodeling, including hormones, nutrition, metabolism, and inflammation How to determine whether a client is losing bone because of increased breakdown, impaired rebuilding, or another underlying pattern Why monitoring the right markers can change the way practitioners evaluate progress The limitations of relying on standard bone health recommendations How to create a more personalized strategy for improving bone resilience Resources and Links: Download the full transcript here Download our FREE Beyond Protocols Guide here. Muscle, Movement, and Bone Strength: Why Resistance Training Is Essential Beyond Walking and Jumping Many clients with osteopenia or osteoporosis are told to walk more, stay active, and protect their bones, but what if they are missing one of the most important factors influencing bone strength? Bone health is not just about the skeleton. It is connected to the muscles that support it, the forces placed on it, and the body’s ability to adapt and rebuild. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo explores the often-overlooked relationship between muscle and bone and why practitioners need to look beyond general recommendations like “stay active” when supporting clients with bone loss. You’ll discover why strength, movement capacity, and individualized progression are essential pieces of a comprehensive bone health strategy. What’s Inside This Episode? Why some clients continue losing bone despite being active The connection between muscle health and bone resilience The overlooked role of strength when evaluating bone health Why “exercise” is not a complete recommendation for clients with bone loss The questions practitioners should ask before creating a movement plan How to recognize when a client needs a different starting point Why personalized strategies matter more than generic protocols How muscle, metabolism, and whole-body health connect to bone strength Resources and Links: Download the full transcript here Grab your Beyond Protocols Guide for a step-by-step framework integrating genetics, labs, and functional assessments into root-cause solutions Join the Next-Level Health Practitioner Facebook group here for free resources and community support Visit INEMethod.com for advanced health practitioner training and tools to elevate your clinical skills and grow your practice by getting life-changing results. Your clients are walking every day. They may be exercising consistently, taking calcium and vitamin D, and their bone density may still be declining. The missing piece may be understanding what kind of movement actually communicates with bone . In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo explores why movement is more than exercise. It is a biological signal that influences bone remodeling, muscle strength, metabolism, and overall resilience. She explains why some forms of movement create a stronger stimulus for bone adaptation and why personalized recommendations matter when working with clients who have osteopenia, osteoporosis, frailty, or increased fracture risk. Discover why walking may not provide enough mechanical stimulus for some clients to significantly improve bone density. Learn how to think beyond generic exercise recommendations and match the right movement strategy to the individual. What’s Inside This Episode? Why some active clients continue losing bone despite doing “all the right things” The overlooked signals that tell bone when to adapt and rebuild Why common exercise recommendations may not be enough for bone health The difference between movement for general health and movement for bone resilience What practitioners need to consider before recommending more challenging exercise Why a personalized approach matters more than a generic bone exercise plan The connection between strength, confidence, mobility, and fracture prevention The clinical questions that reveal whether a client is ready for more challenge How to match movement strategies to the individual, not just the diagnosis Why the right stimulus matters more than simply doing more exercise Resources and Links: Download the full transcript here Download the Beyond Protocols Guide : Learn how to recognize root-cause patterns, connect the dots between labs, genetics, lifestyle, and symptoms, and create personalized strategies for your clients. Osteoporosis is often reduced to a simple formula: calcium, vitamin D, and weight-bearing exercise. What if declining bone density is actually a signal of a much larger communication breakdown happening throughout the body? Bone is not just a structural framework. It is a living endocrine and metabolic tissue that communicates with hormones, muscles, the gut, the brain, the immune system, and metabolism. When we only focus on the bone itself, we may miss the patterns driving bone loss. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo explores how hormones, stress physiology, thyroid function, insulin signaling, inflammation, muscle health, nutrient status, and mechanical loading all influence bone remodeling and resilience. Practitioners will learn why the goal is not simply to improve a bone number, but to understand the underlying signals that determine whether the body is breaking down or rebuilding bone. What’s Inside This Episode? Why bone loss is usually a symptom of a deeper whole-body pattern Why bone is more than structure and plays a role in endocrine and metabolic health The hormone signals that determine whether the body breaks down or rebuilds bone Why estrogen matters, but bone health goes beyond estrogen The connections between cortisol, thyroid, insulin, and bone remodeling Why muscle may be one of the most powerful signals for building stronger bones How inflammation, gut health, and nutrient status shape bone resilience Why a DEXA score may not reveal the full picture of fracture risk What emerging research on osteocalcin and LCN2 reveals about bone’s role in whole-body communication How to move beyond generic bone protocols and uncover the patterns driving bone loss Resources and Links: Download the full transcript here Download the Beyond Protocols Guide A Practitioner’s Guide to Root-Cause Pattern Recognition Join the Next-Level Health Practitioner Facebook group here for free resources and community support Visit INEMethod.com for advanced health practitioner training and tools to elevate your clinical skills and grow your practice by getting life-changing results. Your clients know what they should eat, yet cravings, nighttime snacking, and persistent hunger continue. The missing piece may not be the food itself, but the message their meals are sending to the body. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie explains why two people can eat the same foods and have completely different appetite responses. Discover why the way a meal is structured, timed, and experienced can determine whether the body feels nourished and satisfied or continues searching for more. Dr. Ritamarie reveals 10 powerful signals practitioners can use to uncover what may be driving cravings, recognize root-cause patterns, and create personalized strategies that work with the body’s physiology. What’s Inside This Episode? Why “healthy” meals can still leave clients craving more Why fullness and true satiety are not the same thing The meal timing mistake that may be driving later cravings How protein, fiber, and meal structure influence appetite signals Why the order foods are eaten can change the body’s response The overlooked role of the nervous system in appetite regulation How movement after meals changes glucose and metabolic signals Why sleep disruption can amplify hunger and cravings How to use cravings as clues to uncover root-cause patterns A personalized framework for designing meals that support satiety Resources and Links: Download the full transcript here Download our FREE Hormone Hacking Breakfast Menus Grab your Beyond Protocols Guide for a step-by-step framework integrating genetics, labs, and functional assessments into root-cause solutions Join the Next-Level Health Practitioner Facebook group here for free resources and community support Visit INEMethod.com for advanced health practitioner training and tools to elevate your clinical skills and grow your practice by getting life-changing results. Your clients eat full meals, yet cravings persist. Nighttime snacking, blood sugar swings, and constant hunger aren’t willpower. They’re signals. Appetite is controlled by a complex network of hormones, the nervous system, gut, microbiome, muscle, and nutrient status. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo explains why focusing on a single hormone like GLP-1 isn’t enough. She shows how to identify the patterns driving overeating, cravings, and metabolic dysregulation, so you can address the root cause rather than just the symptoms. What’s Inside This Episode Why appetite is a communication system, not just a numbers problem How ghrelin, leptin, insulin, GLP-1, PYY, and CCK work together to signal satiety The hidden impact of stress, sleep, and reward pathways on cravings How muscle, metabolism, and the microbiome shape hunger signals Why post-meal hunger often reflects systemic dysfunction A pattern-based approach to uncover root causes of persistent appetite issues Resources and Links: Download the full transcript here Get your FREE Beyond Protocols Guide : A structured framework for identifying root-cause patterns and sequencing interventions Join the Next-Level Health Practitioner Facebook group here for free resources and community support Visit INEMethod.com for advanced health practitioner training and tools to elevate your clinical skills and grow your practice by getting life-changing results. There are cases that don’t resolve the way you expect them to. The labs look reasonable. The protocol makes sense. And yet… something isn’t shifting. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie sits down with Kim Rogers to explore a layer that’s often debated and often misunderstood—parasites, gut burden, and the role they may play in complex, unresolved cases. This isn’t about assuming parasites are the answer. It’s about expanding how we think. When symptoms don’t line up and progress stalls, it may be worth asking different questions. You’ll hear where this conversation can be useful, where it can go too far, and how to approach it without losing clinical discernment. What’s Inside This Episode? Kim Rogers has spent more than 20 years working within the Western healthcare system—authoring national certification exams, advising health boards, and teaching in colleges—until her own health crisis revealed something shocking: her body was infested with parasites. After years of being dismissed by doctors while suffering from endometriosis, mold toxicity, Lyme disease, and extreme fatigue, Kim took matters into her own hands. What she found? Worms, candida, and heavy metals were silently wreaking havoc on her body—and no one in conventional medicine was talking about it. Now known as the “Worm Queen,” Kim has gone viral on TikTok and Instagram for showing exactly what she detoxed (think: visible worms, mucus, and more). Her raw, unfiltered videos have reached millions—because they expose the side of wellness that no one wants to talk about, but everyone needs to hear. Kim is the founder of RogersHood Apothecary and the creator of the ParaFy Kit, a holistic parasite cleanse protocol that’s waking people up to what’s living inside them. GLP-1 medications are everywhere in metabolic health conversations, but weight loss doesn’t equal metabolic restoration. Appetite suppression without strategy can compromise muscle, nutrient status, digestion, and long-term resilience. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie walks through a functional practitioner’s approach to GLP-1s, including how to protect lean mass, maintain nutrient density, optimize metabolic flexibility, and support digestion while using these medications. Learn why context matters more than the number on the scale and how to create a sustainable, clinically precise plan. What’s Inside This Episode Why weight loss is not the same as metabolic restoration How GLP-1s affect appetite, digestion, and nutrient intake Protecting muscle and functional strength while on these medications Key labs and markers to track metabolic resilience How diet, protein, fiber, phytonutrients, and exercise fit in Risks of nutrient depletion, slowed digestion, and functional decline How to help clients transition off GLP-1s without losing metabolic gains Practical steps for integrating GLP-1s into a systems-based metabolic strategy Resources and Links Download the full transcript here Get your FREE guide: Beyond Protocols: A Practitioner's Guide to Root Cause Pattern Recognition for a structured framework to integrate symptoms, systems, and sequence in complex cases Access the Genetic Pathway Mapping Workshop Replay to learn a clinical framework for identifying genetic patterns and applying targeted epigenetic strategies. The conversation around seed oils is confusing. Some claim they are toxic, while others insist omega-6 fats are harmless. The truth lies elsewhere. The important factors are what the oil contains, how it is processed, and the metabolic health of the person consuming it. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo cuts through the confusion, unpacking: fatty acid balance, omega-6 to omega-3 ratios, oxidation, cell membrane signaling, inflammation, insulin resistance, and practical strategies to navigate modern dietary fats. If you work with clients who struggle with inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, or cardiovascular risk, this episode will help you move from dogma to clinical precision. What’s Inside This Episode: Why “seed oils” is a misleading category How refined oils differ from whole seeds The metabolic consequences of excess omega-6 The role of oxidation and processing in health outcomes How fatty acid balance influences inflammation and insulin signaling Why individual metabolic health changes oil tolerance Key questions practitioners should ask before recommending oils A framework for evaluating oils without fear or hype Resources and Links: Download the Full Transcript here Download our FREE Beyond Protocols: A Practitioner's Guide to Root-Cause Pattern Recognition to learn how to identify underlying patterns, connect symptoms with root-cause mechanisms, and make more strategic clinical decisions. You’ve increased estrogen. You’ve supported the gut. You’ve cleaned up the protocol. And… she’s still dealing with dryness. recurrent UTIs., and discomfort that keeps coming back. At some point, it stops being a hormone conversation. When labs look “fine” and symptoms persist, adding more support doesn’t fix the problem. It just exposes it. In this episode, Dr. Ritamarie sits down with Dr. Anna Cabeca to look at a pattern that gets missed in conventional and functional care: the vaginal microbiome. This is NOT a side topic but a primary driver. They walk through what happens when Lactobacillus balance is disrupted, why vaginal pH shifts matter more than most practitioners realize, and how these changes can create symptoms that look hormonal but don’t respond to hormone-based approaches. You’ll start to see why some cases don’t resolve… and what to look at next when they don’t. What’s Inside This Episode? Normal estrogen… but persistent dryness Why UTIs keep coming back When pH—not hormones—is the issue The key Lactobacillus strains that matter How antibiotics and HRT disrupt the ecosystem Urgency and leakage that aren’t a bladder problem The link to fertility, aging, and tissue health Why systemic protocols fail when the issue is local Resources and Links Download the Full Transcript Download our FREE Metabolic Health Guide here .
