You spend weeks planning the holiday magic for everyone else. The gifts, the gatherings, the school events, the meals, the family traditions. And by the time December rolls around, you're so exhausted from making it all happen that you barely have the energy to enjoy any of it. I'd really like this year to be different. In this solo episode of Energy + Hours, I'm sharing something new I've created to help busy working moms manage holiday overwhelm and prepare for December before everything starts to feel urgent. 30 Days to a Calmer Holiday Season is a completely free November email challenge designed to help you manage your time, protect your energy, and make some intentional decisions about what you actually want from this holiday season. Starting November 1st, I'll send you one short email every day for 30 days. Each one includes a practical time management tip, reflection prompt, or simple activity you can complete in about 30 seconds to a few minutes. We're working through my Time Magic™ Method together, using the same tools and strategies I use in my own life and with my private coaching clients. In this episode: Why the holiday season can feel like a pressure cooker, especially for working moms How a simple calendar audit can help you identify December's busiest spots before they become overwhelming Making holiday decisions based on your values and actual capacity Creating a personal self-care menu so you have options ready when your energy starts running low What to expect from the free 30-day email challenge and how to join This challenge is for busy moms, entrepreneurs, and anyone who carries a lot of the holiday mental load. It's also designed to be accessible for ADHD brains and people who need flexible, realistic planning tools. There's no homework to hand in, no expectation to complete every activity, and nothing to catch up on if you miss a day. My goal is to help you head into December with a calendar that reflects your capacity, a clearer idea of what matters, and some practical tools for managing the inevitable holiday chaos. And I really want you to enjoy some of those moments you're working so hard to create. Join the free challenge: 30 Days to a Calmer Holiday Season Sign up before November 1st to receive all 30 daily emails. https://jill-wright.myflodesk.com/holiday-challenge ⏳✨ I’m Jill, a Time Management Expert and creator of the Time Magic™ Method. Some of the people who seem to have it all together are the same ones white-knuckling their way through every day. They're meeting deadlines, taking care of everyone, getting things done, and underneath it all, they're dealing with anxiety that nobody else can see. I've been there, especially in those early years of motherhood when I was struggling with anxiety but still managing to achieve and perform the way I always had. In this episode of Energy + Hours, I'm joined by psychotherapist and Calmly Coping podcast host Tati Garcia to talk about high-functioning anxiety in high achievers, how it shows up in our work and personal lives, and what we can actually do about it. Tati shares how her own experience with burnout and perfectionism led her to specialize in helping ambitious professionals who struggle with overthinking, self-doubt, and the pressure to keep doing more. We get into the guilt that comes with resting, why high achievers can turn self-care into another thing to excel at, and how to start recognizing when anxiety is driving your decisions. We also talk about realistic ways to manage your energy, including my favourite concept of time confetti, using those little pockets of time throughout the day to care for yourself before you're completely depleted. In this episode: What high-functioning anxiety looks like, even when you're successful and productive How perfectionism and fear of failure can contribute to burnout Why asking for help and prioritizing rest can feel so uncomfortable Small, sustainable self-care practices that fit into busy lives How mindfulness and journaling can help interrupt overthinking Why work-life balance changes with your priorities and available energy The Four Burners Theory and Spoon Theory for understanding your capacity One simple question Tati recommends when you're stuck in an anxiety spiral About Tati Tati Garcia, LPC, is a psychotherapist, coach, and speaker who helps high-achieving professionals break free from anxiety, perfectionism, and burnout. With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, she blends clinical expertise with personal experience to guide clients toward confidence and balance. Michelle Weger wakes up on a good day with what she describes as about 40% of the energy of the average person. Living with narcolepsy forced her to get very good at using small windows of time, building systems around her capacity, and figuring out what actually helps her perform well. In this episode, Michelle and I talk about sustainable productivity, procrastination, perfectionism, energy management, automation, and what high performance can look like when your body or brain doesn’t operate according to the standard productivity playbook. Michelle shares how she redesigned her work around the way her brain and body function, including small changes to deadlines and expectations that make reliability easier. We also get into the fear underneath procrastination, why researching the “perfect” productivity system can become another form of avoidance, and how small actions build confidence. One of my favourite ideas from our conversation: a high-performing system needs to keep working when real life gets messy. In this episode: How narcolepsy changed Michelle’s approach to productivity and energy management Why fear can show up as procrastination and perfectionism Building confidence through small, repeated actions Creating productivity systems that account for unpredictable capacity How Michelle decides what to automate and what to keep human Why AI can become another productivity distraction External accountability and support systems that help us follow through About Michelle Michelle Weger is a Productivity Expert, Resilience Speaker, and AI & Business Automation Strategist with over 14 years of proven success. Following her narcolepsy diagnosis in her early twenties, Michelle channeled that challenge into a driving force for business building and relied on productivity strategies and automation to sustain the lifestyle she needed and to maximize every moment of wakefulness. Her bestselling memoir, Don’t Snooze Your Dreams: Lessons from Life with Narcolepsy , has topped charts in Canada and the United States. There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from trying to work, parent, stay connected, keep up with everything coming through your phone, and somehow remain a regulated human through all of it. Dr. Jody Carrington joined me for one of the rawest conversations I’ve had on Energy + Hours about burnout, nervous-system regulation, motherhood, social media, comparison, and our very human need for other people. Jody is a clinical psychologist, bestselling author and speaker who studies human connection. Her perspective on burnout starts with something many productivity conversations miss: our bodies haven’t evolved at the same speed as the world around us. We talk about the amount of information our nervous systems are processing, the pressure women carry to do everything well, and why asking for help can feel so difficult even when we desperately need it. In this episode: ⏳ How social media comparison contributes to shame, loneliness and overwhelm ⏳ The connection between burnout, emotional regulation and nervous-system overload ⏳ Why working mothers are carrying a particularly complicated set of expectations ⏳ What Jody means by “microdosing emotional regulation” ⏳ How community and co-regulation help us handle stress ⏳ Why resentment and irritability can signal that you need a reset ⏳ What asking for help has to do with sustainable productivity ⏳ Small ways to reconnect with yourself during a demanding day About Dr. Jody Dr. Jody Carrington is a powerhouse speaker and fearless champion for authentic human connection. Dr. Jody boldly believes that all humans have the capacity for good; however, so many of us these days, because of isolation and burnout, have lost access to that good. Dr. Carrington is the founder and principal psychologist at Carrington & Company, she's written three best-selling books, speaks on hundreds of stages globally each year, and hosts the widely celebrated podcast UNLONELY. Dr. Jody is clear on one thing: we were never meant to do any of this alone. https://www.drjodycarrington.com https://www.instagram.com/drjodycarrington https://www.youtube.com/c/drjodycarrington https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-jody-carrington https://www.tiktok.com/@drjodycarrington ⏳✨ I’m Jill, a Time Management Expert and creator of the Time Magic™ Method. There is a strange thing happening with productivity right now. Technology, AI, and automation can save us hours, but we keep finding new work to fill those hours with. In this episode of Energy + Hours, I’m talking with business architect Katie MacLachlan about what happens when we stop treating extra capacity as an invitation to produce more. Katie spent 23 years in tech before building Be Good Guide, where she helps entrepreneurs create businesses around the human actually running them. She combines systems, tech, strategy, astrology, and Human Design to help business owners build sustainable ways of working. We get into the overlap between time management and business systems, including how to tell when overwhelm is pointing to a structural problem. Katie shares a simple way to audit repetitive work and look for tasks that can be dropped, delegated, or automated. We also talk about energy management and the pressure entrepreneurs put on themselves to operate at full capacity all the time. Katie designs her week around her energy, protects large blocks of focused work, limits meeting days, and intentionally blocks recovery time into future weeks. I especially loved our conversation about what happens after a system gives you time back. You don't automatically owe that time back to your business. In this episode: ⏳ How to spot a systems problem hiding underneath a time management problem ⏳ Why entrepreneurs need dedicated space to work on the business ⏳ Using systems, automation, and AI to reduce repetitive work ⏳ Katie’s “drop, delegate, or automate” approach to business tasks ⏳ Designing your workweek around your actual energy and capacity ⏳ Why flow requires recovery rather than sustained output ⏳ The unrealistic expectations business owners create for themselves ⏳ Getting comfortable moving tasks when priorities change ⏳ Why a cancelled meeting can genuinely be a gift ⏳ Building recovery time into your calendar before you desperately need it ⏳ Making room for creativity, play, thinking, and life outside of work ⏳ How sustainable productivity changes as a business grows This episode is especially useful for entrepreneurs, founders, ambitious women, ADHD and neurodivergent business owners, and anyone whose workload keeps expanding to fill every bit of available time. About Katie: Katie MacLachlan is the founder of Be Good Guide and co-founder of Soulward Summit. She spent 23 years in tech and product before realizing she already knew strategy, and it still wasn't working. So she started blending business architecture with Human Design and astrology to figure out why. Now she helps capable, experienced founders build businesses around how they actually operate, not a borrowed playbook, through her Unbothered Business Blueprint. Alongside her Be Good Guide work, she co-runs Soulward Summit, a women founders' event built to create real connection, collaborations and the village we've been looking for. The Summit is expanding into local chapters, with Nashville already launched, so founders get resources, community and momentum year round. https://www.begoodguide.com https://blog.begoodguide.com https://www.instagram.com/begoodguide https://www.soulwardsummit.com ⏳✨ I’m Jill, a Time Management Expert and creator of the Time Magic™ Method. A productivity system can look great on paper and still make your life harder. In this episode, I’m talking with Adrienne Dalaly about personalized productivity, ADHD, burnout, rest, delegation, and what happens when the systems that once worked for us stop fitting. Adrienne works at the intersection of process and project management, risk analysis, astrology, and tarot. Her approach gives us a useful way to think about time management: gather information about how you work, test what helps, and keep adjusting as your life changes. We talk about the client who had accumulated 27 different systems as her business grew, why handing something off means actually letting someone else own it, and Adrienne’s experience discovering that the rest she thought would require 24 hours sometimes only required 90 minutes of being responsible for herself. We also get into ADHD time perception, sensory rest for moms, creative thinking during periods of rest, and why founders often end up running businesses designed around everyone else’s working style. In this episode: Why growing businesses need regular systems audits ADHD productivity and our sometimes unreliable perception of time Delegating without taking the task back The difference between rest and self-care Why hobbies do not need to become side hustles How rest can create space for ideas and creative problem-solving Building flexible structure into your calendar Using brain dumps and external support when everything feels tangled Testing productivity tools before reorganizing your entire life around them Recognizing when you’ve outgrown a system that used to work Resources mentioned: Episode on Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith’s Seven Types of Rest framework: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/tired-you-might-be-resting-wrong/id1601675882?i=1000736551084 Chelsey Newmyer Energy + Hours episode on Human Design and time management: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/your-productivity-style-is-written-in-your-birth-chart/id1601675882?i=1000786186381 If this episode gave you a new way to think about your own productivity systems, send it to someone whose calendar, workload, or business systems could use a rethink. Knowing how to get organized doesn’t always mean you can actually do it, especially when you’re overwhelmed or your brain doesn’t naturally work with the systems you’ve been given. In this episode of Energy + Hours, I’m joined by organizing coach Tracy Hoth to talk about the practical and mental sides of getting organized. Tracy is a certified life and organizing coach and host of the top 1% globally ranked Organized Coach Podcast. One of my favorite parts of this conversation is Tracy’s definition of being organized: knowing what you have and being able to find it when you need it. We talk about why someone can be incredibly organized at work and struggle at home, how labels like “I’m a messy person” can stick with us, and why ADHD and neurodiverse brains may need different organizing tools and structures. Tracy also shares her SPACE organizing method: Sort, Purge, Assign Homes, Contain, Energize. She uses the same process for physical clutter, time, projects, digital spaces, and even the thoughts taking up space in her brain. We also get into the connection between clutter, mental load, and energy. Unfinished tasks, paperwork, clutter, and all those things you keep meaning to deal with can continue taking up capacity even when you aren’t actively working on them. In this episode, we talk about: What it actually means to be organized How the identity of being “messy” can affect your habits Organizing systems for ADHD and neurodiverse brains Using timers, deadlines, accountability, and scheduling Tracy’s 15-minute approach to decluttering Why habits don’t need to happen every day to count Resuming a routine without treating it as starting over Tracy’s SPACE method for decluttering and organizing How physical clutter adds to mental load and drains energy Applying organizing principles to your calendar and weekly planning Using digital calendars and paper planners together The “wonderful one” strategy for reducing decision fatigue About Tracy Hoth: Tracy Hoth is a certified life and organizing coach helping women simplify their homes, lives, and businesses through practical systems and mindset shifts, so they can focus on what matters most. As the host of the top 1% globally ranked Organized Coach Podcast, she empowers women to declutter with confidence, create lasting systems, and step into the role of Organized Life CEOs. Planning your week with a clear head and living that week are two very different experiences. In this episode of Energy + Hours, I’m joined again by time and energy management consultant Maddie Morris to talk about ADHD time management, weekly planning, energy, priorities, and building systems that make follow-through easier. Maddie has ADHD herself, and one of my favorite ideas from this conversation is separating planning from doing. When you’re looking at the week as a whole, you can make decisions based on your bigger priorities. When you’re actually living through Tuesday afternoon, you need enough flexibility to respond to your energy, workload, family needs, and whatever else showed up. We also talk about ADHD productivity surges and the recovery that can follow. Maddie shares how recognizing this pattern changed the way she plans lower-capacity days rather than expecting herself to maintain the same level of output every day. From there, we get practical about weekly planning, including a planning session, reviewing the previous week, and adding a midweek check-in. We also dig into an idea that comes up often in my work: time management starts long before you put something on a calendar. Your season of life, energy, responsibilities, best focus times, tolerance for meetings, and context switching all affect how a schedule works in real life. A calendar can account for the human who has to live inside it. In this episode: Separating planning from doing with ADHD Maddie’s “two most important things” approach Planning for recovery after productivity surges Weekly planning, reviews, and midweek check-ins Choosing priorities when everything feels important Reducing mental load and decision fatigue Batching and themed days to reduce context switching Using timers, visual cues, and environmental design Building ADHD-friendly systems that require less willpower Treating your schedule like an experiment and adjusting what doesn’t work About Maddie: Maddie Morris is a time and energy management consultant and speaker who helps leaders and teams train their calendars to focus on what matters most and create the conditions for their best work. Drawing from a decade as an executive assistant and Chief of Staff, plus her own experience with burnout and ADHD, she teaches practical ways to protect focus, manage energy, and build momentum with less wasted effort. In this episode of Energy + Hours, I’m joined again by returning guest Courtney Cecil to look at boundaries from a systems perspective. One of my favorite ideas from this conversation is Courtney’s concept of the “vulnerability window”: the specific moment or set of conditions where a boundary tends to fall apart. Maybe it’s opening your email as soon as you wake up and letting work determine the tone of your morning. Maybe an open stretch in your calendar disappears into your phone. Maybe work keeps bleeding into home because you haven’t decided what needs protecting in the first place. Courtney walks us through how to find those vulnerable points and create practical controls that make boundaries easier to maintain. We also talk about work-life integration, calendar audits, priorities, energy, and why boundaries can protect you from your own habits as much as they protect you from other people. In this episode: Why knowing your boundaries isn’t always enough to maintain them How to identify your “vulnerability window” where boundaries tend to break down Using your environment and simple systems to make boundaries easier to keep Courtney’s three W’s: what you value, prioritize, and spend How boundaries show up across work, relationships, finances, emotions, and physical wellbeing Using tools like the Five Whys and risk management controls to reduce friction Work-life integration, calendar awareness, and using small pockets of time more intentionally About Courtney Cecil: Courtney Cecil is a fierce advocate for making work and life sustainable. She spent over two decades as a culture and organizational strategy executive in professional services and Fortune 50 companies before launching Working Moms Movement in 2023. Through her Life Management System, Courtney helps working moms move from stretched thin and stuck in their to-do lists to feeling more in control and present for their careers, families, and wellbeing. There’s a particular kind of frustration that comes from going to bed on Sunday determined that this week will be different. My guest Chelsey Newmyer calls this “starting over every Monday,” and I knew exactly what she meant. Chelsey is a productivity strategist and founder of The Cosmic Productivity Method. She helps women build productivity systems around their actual lives, using behavior science alongside astrology and Human Design to personalize the way they work. Today, Chelsey uses my chart as an example of how astrology can offer clues about the routines, work environments and types of rest that may suit someone. We also talk about Human Design and the relief that can come from having language for work patterns you previously judged yourself for. In this episode: How to find flexibility when very little can come off your plate How Chelsey uses astrology to personalize productivity What your Sun, Moon and Rising signs can tell you about work and rest Why productivity tools need to change across different seasons of life How to build routines that can survive interruptions The productivity practice Chelsey recommends almost universally Chelsey's work is a fun extension of something I believe deeply about time management: learning more about yourself gives you more information to work with. In this episode of Energy + Hours, I’m catching up with returning guest Rachel Newman about how much life can change as our kids get older, our work evolves, neurodivergence becomes part of the conversation, and we learn more about ourselves along the way. Rachel and I originally connected when both of our work was deeply rooted in early motherhood. Years later, our kids are older and our lives look different. Rachel is homeschooling three children and navigating ADHD and dyslexia in her family. My own work has evolved from Grow Like a Mother into a much broader conversation about time management, energy management, sustainable productivity, and building systems around the life you actually have. A big part of our conversation comes back to something I teach often: you are allowed to change the system. We talk about paying attention when something stops serving you, making smaller adjustments when the bigger circumstances can’t change, and using routines and transition tools to make daily life easier for ADHD and neurodivergent brains. In this episode: How motherhood and our needs change as our kids get older Discovering neurodivergence through your children Letting yourself change a decision or system that no longer works How seasons and life changes affect time management Creating flexible routines when work, school, and home overlap Using visual timers to support ADHD time blindness and transitions Emotional regulation and accessing your tools when you’re dysregulated Personalizing routines, schedules, and productivity systems around your actual life This episode is especially for you if: You’re in a season where your old routines have stopped working, your family’s needs are changing, you’re navigating ADHD or other neurodivergence, or you’re realizing that the productivity systems you used to rely on don’t fit your current life. It’s also a useful listen for moms who are homeschooling or considering homeschooling and feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices available. You don’t need to adopt somebody else’s entire system. Take what works. Leave what doesn’t. Reevaluate when your circumstances change. Build around the people who actually live in your house and the responsibilities that actually fill your calendar. About Rachel: Rachel Newman is a bestselling author, life coach, and homeschooling mom of three (twins included). She's the author of MomME , built on one core belief: moms matter too. That philosophy now fuels Happy Haus Homeschool, where she's writing a new book and handbook helping moms trade the "shoulds" for a homeschool that actually works for their family. Which leads to a permission form. Which leads to a birthday gift you haven't ordered yet. None of it was urgent. All of it interrupted you. Sound familiar? In this solo episode, I'm breaking down the three places that everything in your life should live, and the one question you can start asking yourself today to stop carrying it all in your head. Your brain is not a storage unit, a calendar, or a reminder system. It's a decision-making powerhouse and when you free it up from holding everything, that's when the creativity, the ideas, and the actual enjoyment of your life start coming back in. In this episode, we cover: ⏳ Why mental load and overwhelm are often a systems problem, not a willpower problem ⏳ The difference between a calendar, a task list, and a note ⏳ How to use the rocks-and-Tetris-pieces framework to schedule tasks around fixed appointments ⏳ High-energy vs. low-energy to-do lists for people who struggle with capacity ⏳ The one question to ask every time a new thought pops into your head ⏳ Why your best ideas come in the shower (and how to make that happen more often) ⏳ Practical ways to capture information on the go, including the screenshot trick ⏳ What it looks like to work with Jill and how her approach is built for your current season, not a long-term contract Resources Mentioned: ⏳ Time Magic™ Planner — A physical planning tool designed for busy brains, high performers, and real life https://www.jillwright.ca/planner ⏳ Take the Time Magic Quiz — Discover your natural relationship with time and get personalized productivity tips https://jillwright.ca/quiz About Jill Wright Jill Wright is a Time Management Expert and the founder of Energy + Hours, where she helps high-performers manage their lives through practical strategies that fit their season of life. I preach rest. I preach self-care. I preach boundaries. And then I turned 40. I packed the entire summer full of birthday celebrations, a work trip to Calgary, camping, beach days, splash pads, star gazing, and every possible summer memory I could manufacture for my four kids... and ran myself ragged. My 7-year-old drew me a picture of a tired whale. She titled it "Mama Whale is so tired." She saw right through me. This episode is my honest debrief on what happens when I don't follow my own advice, and what I'm doing about it. In this episode: How turning 40 coincided with one of my most overpacked, under-rested seasons The specific kind of overwhelm that sneaks in when you're trying to make everything magical (and what it looks like for me: rage) How perimenopause is showing up in my energy management in ways I didn't expect The Time Magic™ Method and how I lost sight of it The difference between rest and self-care, and why you can't have one without the other first Sandra Dalton-Smith's 7 types of rest Why "balance is a verb, not a destination" is more than a saying I throw around What I'm doing this week to actually recover before the kids come back Resources mentioned: Time Magic™ Method — https://jillwright.ca/time-magic-method Episode on the difference between rest and self-care — https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/rest-vs-self-care-why-youre-exhausted-even-when-you/id1601675882?i=1000738633682 Episode on the 7 types of rest — https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/tired-you-might-be-resting-wrong/id1601675882?i=1000736551084 Free productivity download: The Sustainable Productivity Toolkit - https://jillwright.ca/freebie Time Magic Type Quiz — https://jillwright.ca/quiz Energy + Hours Substack — https://energyandhours.substack.com 90-minute Tune-Up sessions - https://jillwright.ca/tune-up Time Magic Planner — https://jillwright.ca/planner Corporate Workshops - https://jillwright.ca/workshops About Jill Jill Wright is a Time Management Expert and the founder of Energy + Hours , where she helps high-performers manage their lives through practical strategies that fit their season of life. In this episode of Energy + Hours , I’m sharing theevolution of my work and introducing you to the Time Magic Method , my approach to sustainable productivity. After years of working with hundreds of individuals andteams, I started noticing the same thing over and over: most people weren’t struggling because they weren’t trying hard enough. They were using systems that didn’t account for the complexity of their lives. The Time Magic Method combines practical planning, productivity tools, energy management, rest, self-care, and personalization so you can create systems that support the way you actually live and work. In this episode, we explore the 4 Ps of Time Magic: Planning Understanding where your time is actually going, creating awareness around your capacity, and building systems that help you prepare for real life. Prioritization Learning how to decide what matters most when everything feels important, especially as a high performer managing multiple roles and responsibilities. Productivity Creating sustainable systems that support focus, follow-through, energy, and consistency without pushing yourself toward burnout. Personalization Recognizing that different brains, work styles, personalities, and seasons of life require different approaches to productivity. We also talk about: ⌛ Why productivity and energy management need to work together ⌛How rest and self-care fit into sustainable success ⌛The invisible workload and mental load affecting your time ⌛Time blindness and neurodivergent-friendly productivity tools ⌛Why high achievers struggle with prioritization ⌛How to create systems that work with your brain instead of against it ⌛The different ways to learn the Time Magic Method for yourself or your organization Resources Mentioned: ✨ Take the Time Magic Quiz https://www.jillwright.ca/quiz Discover your natural relationship with time and get personalized productivity tips based on how you work best. ✨ Listen: Rest vs Self-Care Episode https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/rest-vs-self-care-why-youre-exhausted-even-when-you/id1601675882?i=1000738633682 Learn why sustainable productivity requires both rest and intentional self-care. ✨ Explore the Time Magic Planner https://www.jillwright.ca/planner A physical planning tool designed for busy brains, high performers, and real life. 👉 Grab your copy of the Time Magic Seasonal Planner ! What if the secret to a more productive, energized day had nothing to do with what time you woke up? In this episode, Jill gets real about a shift she's been experiencing in her own life: trading strict time-based scheduling for rhythms, rituals, and anchors that signal transitions throughout the day. Recording through a cold (yes, she still showed up), Jill shares how a simple morning walk has become a game-changing anchor in her day, and why this approach works especially well for entrepreneurs, moms, and neurodivergent brains who don't operate on a traditional 9-to-5 schedule. She also gets candid about the reality of entrepreneurship, including why she's chosen a patchwork income model to protect her joy and avoid burnout, and why she's giving herself full permission to wait until June to tackle her big business projects. This one is a gentle, meandering conversation that might just inspire you to look at your own day differently. Key Takeaways ⏳Rhythms beat rigid schedules. If you don't have a traditional structured day, stop trying to force one. Instead of assigning tasks to specific times, think about the flow of events. What comes after what? That sequence becomes your structure. ⏳ Anchors signal transitions. A ritual doesn't have to be elaborate. A walk, a song, a candle, a cup of coffee before you open your inbox. These small, consistent acts tell your brain: this chapter is ending, a new one is beginning. That signal matters more than the clock. ⏳ Create before you consume. Before diving into emails, client work, or anyone else's agenda, carve out time that belongs to you. Protecting that space at the start of your day changes the quality of everything that follows. ⏳ Imperfect rituals still count. You don't have to do it every single day for it to make a difference. Twice a week beats never. Take the pressure off consistency being all-or-nothing. ⏳ Entrepreneurship can look like a mosaic. There's no rule that says your business has to be your only income source. Mixing consulting, freelance work, or part-time income alongside your business can actually protect your love for what you do. ⏳ White space is where the magic lives. Look at your day and find the pockets where you have some control. Morning, evening, the commute, the transition between work and family time. That's where a small ritual can create a big shift. What if the reason traditional productivity systems haven’t worked for you… is because they were never built for your brain in the first place? In this episode of the Energy + Hours, Jill Wright sits down with Amy Marie Hann, creator of Master the Mundane, to talk about the realities of managing life, home, routines, motherhood, and mental load as women with ADHD. Amy shares her experience of realizing her ADHD didn’t magically disappear outside of school and work, and how years of masking, burnout, and trying to force neurotypical systems eventually pushed her to create more supportive ways of living. Together, Jill and Amy unpack why so many moms with ADHD struggle with consistency, household management, overwhelm, shame, and unrealistic expectations, especially in seasons of motherhood where the demands never stop. This conversation is practical, validating, and deeply relatable for anyone trying to manage time, energy, routines, and family life with a neurodivergent brain. In this episode, Jill and Amy talk about: Why becoming a stay-at-home mom can actually intensify ADHD struggles The hidden mental load carried by moms with ADHD Why urgency becomes a coping mechanism for ADHD brains The difference between neurotypical productivity advice and ADHD-friendly systems Masking, burnout, and the pressure to “keep up” How shame keeps many women stuck in cycles of overwhelm Building routines that work with your brain instead of against it Why small, sustainable changes work better than trying to overhaul your life overnight ADHD, perimenopause, motherhood, and overstimulation The importance of community and support for neurodivergent moms Creating systems for home and family management that are realistic and flexible Amy also shares insights from her Master the Mundane community, her course on mastering mornings and evenings, and her approach to helping ADHD moms create more ease in everyday life without perfectionism or guilt. About the Guest Amy is the creator of Master the Mundane, a unique online course + community that empowers moms with ADHD to manage their home and family in a way that works for their brain. You're carrying the weight alone because somewhere you learned that asking is selfish or weak. It's not. It's the most efficient way to reclaim your time and energy. I learned this lesson fresh watching my six-year-old daughter knock on neighbours' doors selling Girl Guide cookies. There was no apology in her ask, no concern about burdening people, no second-guessing. She showed up, stated what she needed, and moved on. Adults have forgotten how to do this, especially women. We're tangled up in people-pleasing, perfectionism, and the constant hum of cultural messaging that tells us we need to handle everything ourselves. The thing is, asking for what you want and need is one of the fastest ways to shift your energy. Not just in a day, but across your entire life. Time back, less resentment, better boundaries, actual rest. In this episode, we get into: Why people-pleasing and perfectionism keep you from asking (and how your neurodiversity might actually be your superpower here) The exact 3-step framework to make the ask: identify what you want, figure out what you need to get there, and ask for the help How to handle rejection without it derailing the whole thing (spoiler: even a "no" is better than not asking) The art of showing up and seeing what happens when you let people respond authentically Why your discomfort with asking is just being out of practice, and how to build the habit starting small Real-life examples of what asking sounds like so it doesn't feel awkward or sleazy ⏳✨ I’m Jill, a Time Management Expert and creator of the Time Magic™ Method. You can build a successful business and still feel stretched, frustrated, and stuck in it. This conversation looks at what’s actually happening behind that disconnect.
