Welcome to the Femmi Pod. Femmi has been built to empower women through movement, education and connection. At Femmi we are building a community of women who can support, inspire and educate one another on how to move with our bodies and not against them. Founders, Lydia O’Donnell and Esther Keown, have come together to kick start more conversations about women, how we can make the most of our bodies, our hormones and ourselves.

This episode is a recap of our recent RED-s (Relative Energy Deficiency Syndrome in Sport) Masterclass Series. This is our final episode in which we ask our Women's Health experts questions about RED-s from our community. We’re joined by three brilliant women. Dr Izzy Smith, Femmi’s endocrinologist, who specialises in hormones, female physiology and women’s health. Grace Coombs, Femmi physiotherapist and run coach, who specialises in women’s health and supporting female athletes to train and perform at their best. And Pippa Woolven, former Great Britain athlete and founder of Project RED-S, who’s doing incredible work raising awareness and improving education around Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport. We are excited to be teaming up with Project RED-s to help support more women going through their own journey and hopefully prevent more women going through it themselves. Welcome to The Ascend Diaries. This series is all about highlighting the women's running community in the build up to the Nike After Dark Syd race in September. While this series follows the journey to the Nike After Dark Tour, it's about so much more than one race. Whether you're lining up on the start line in September or simply love running, you'll find stories, lessons, and conversations that will inspire every part of your own running journey. This week we are honoured to introduce Femmi Community member, Brooke Stevens. Brooke is a runner who shares her journey of becoming stronger, both physically and mentally, through movement. Brooke is a proud Māori who grew up in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and has been immersed in sports her entire life. Playing competitive basketball, volleyball, netball and more, Brooke's love for sport and movement continued, as she made her move to Australia over 10 years ago. Brooke brings an honest and relatable perspective to the women's running community. Her approach is a reminder that running can be about so much more than pace or performance: it can be a tool for building confidence, discipline and a deeper belief in what you're capable of and returning you to your roots - to your whakapapa. Taking on the Nike After Dark Tour, Brooke joins the global community of women pushing their limits, backing themselves and celebrating just how powerful running can be. Caitlin recently released the book Good Girl, Goodbye , which explores the hidden conditioning many women grow up with — the pressure to be agreeable, high-achieving, self-sacrificing and ‘good’ at the expense of their own needs, ambition and identity. In this insightful interview, Caitlin discusses the systemic conditioning of women as 'good girls,' the impact of patriarchy, and how women can reclaim their self-worth through awareness and self-leadership. We dive into perfectionism, people-pleasing, burnout, performance-based self-worth, and what it actually looks like for women to stop proving themselves and start trusting themselves.
